        The official analytical method for the analysis of harmful heavy metals in Meju, distributed in Korea, employs a strong acid to decompose the organic components. This analysis is time consuming and harmful to the users and/or the environment. This study aimed to develop a new pre-treatment technology using laser ablation, to rapidly analyze harmful heavy metals without using strong acids. The results obtained from this method were validated by the National Institute of Food and Drug Safety Evaluation guideline (NIFDS, 2016). Moreover, a comparison of the two methods showed that the analytical time for 55 Meju samples was shortened by 96% or more in the new method. The results showed no significant difference in the recovery ranging from 90–120%. The proposed method proved suitable for detecting harmful heavy metals in Meju.

        This study was carried out under the premise that lack of grammatical education with overall emphasized fluency is not desirable and the grammatical education can function fully to improve the communicative competence. To support this, the studies that attempted comparative linguistics, universal language theories, and attempts of linguistic typology were examined. However, such efforts are limited in explaining the overall Korean grammatical education systematically. As a method to resolve such problems, a suggestion of actively utilizing grammatical categories were provided. The categorization by grammatical systems is quite familiar since it was applied to all languages for a long time and is a concept that can be usefully utilized in comparative linguistics or linguistic typology. In addition, the overall grammatical factors could be examined systematically. As the meanings, functions, and constraints of combinations among the grammatical factors are compared, which could not be done when examining the individual grammatical factor, the differences can be clearly recognized. This study provided an example of expressing negatives and also suggests the methods to use the grammatical categories for Korean educational grammatical system in the sites of Korean education in detail.

        The mixing of rice and brown rice produced in different years is banned in Korea by the grain management act. However, there has been no reported method for discriminating the production year of rice. The objective of this study was to develop a method for discriminating the production year of rice and brown rice based on their phospholipids content. One hundred rice samples and 130 brown rice samples produced between 2012 and 2015 were collected. Twelve phosphatidylcholine components were analyzed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. Phosphatidylcholine was used as an internal standard to calculate the peak intensity of the samples. A statistical analysis of the results showed that the centroid distance between the stale and new rice was 4.16 and the classification ratio was 97%. To verify the calculated discriminant, 61 and 40 rice samples were collected. The accuracy of discrimination was 82% by primary verification and 80% by secondary verification. The statistical analysis of brown rice showed that the centroid distance between the stale and new brown rice was 3.14 and the classification ratio was 96%. To verify the calculated discriminant, 10 samples of new rice and 30 samples of stale rice were collected and the accuracy of discrimination was 93%. The accuracy of discrimination for rice stored at room temperature was 57.9 –92.1% and that for rice stored at a low temperature was 86.8–94.7%, depending on the storage period. For brown rice, the detection accuracy was 94.7–100% at room temperature and 92.1–100% at a low temperature, depending on the storage period. The accuracy of discrimination for rice was affected by the storage temperature and time, while that for brown rice was more than 92% regardless of the storage conditions. These results suggest that the developed discriminant analysis method could be utilized to determine the production year of rice and brown rice.

        반하의 기내 조직배양을 통해 소괴경 생산을 하고자 적합한 식물생장조절제 처리조건, 배지와 처리 농도, 고형지지물의 종류와 농도를 조사하였다. 기내 소괴경 형성에 적합한 식물생장조절물질과 농도 조건을 연구 한 결과 0.1mg/l 2,4-D와 0.5 mg/l BAP 혼합처리에서 잎 (3.9개)과 엽병 (4.7개) 배양모두 최고치의 소괴경을 생산할 수 있었다. 기내 소괴경 형성에 적합한 배지는 SH배지로 나타났으며 잎과 엽병 배양에서 4.5와 5.2개의 소괴경을 생산하였으며, 최적 농도는 SH 배지의 무기염류를 반으로 줄인 1/2 SH배지가 가장 효과적이었다. 기내 소괴경 생산에 적합한 고형지지물과 그 농도를 조사한 결과, 잎과 엽병 배양 모두 agar보다 gelrite에서 소괴경 형성이 잘 되었으며, 농도별로는 agar 6%, Gelrite는 4% 처리에서최고치의 소괴경을 생산할 수 있었다. 기내에서 생산된 소괴경은 5˚C에서 1개월간 냉장 보관 후에 생장상에서 MS 고형배지가 든 배양용기와 멸균 소독한 상토에 옮겨 발아율을 조사한 결과, MS고형 배지에서 자란 소괴경은 86%의 발아율을 보였으며, 멸균 소독한 상토에서는 43%의 발아율을 보였다. 추후 반하 소괴경의 발아율과 토양 적응성을 높이는 연구보강으로 소경을 번식용 종자로 활용할 수 있는 방안을 모색할 예정이다.

        The study was carried out to establish an improved protocol for shoot organogenesis and plant regeneration from leaf explant cultures of Scrophularia buergeriana M. with the treatment of ethylene inhibitors [silver nitrate (AgNO3), aminoethox-yvinylglycine (AVG), Cobalt chloride (CoCl2)]. The regenerated shoots obtained from leaf explant cultures on MS medium containing 2 mg/l BAP, The additions of AgNO3. AVG and CoC12 substantially improved the shoot regeneration frequency, at the optimal concentration of 7 mg/L, 7 mg/L, and 3 mg/L respectively, The regenerated shoots could be easily rooted with 0.1 mg/L IBA treatment. The noted plants were hardened and transferred to vermiculite with a 85% survival rate where they grew normally.
