        Environmental issues such as global warming due to fossil fuel use are now major worldwide concerns, and interest in renewable and clean energy is growing. Of the various types of renewable energy, green hydrogen energy has recently attracted attention because of its eco-friendly and high-energy density. Electrochemical water splitting is considered a pollution-free means of producing clean hydrogen and oxygen and in large quantities. The development of non-noble electrocatalysts with low cost and high performance in water splitting has also attracted considerable attention. In this study, we successfully synthesized a NiCo2O4/NF electrode for an oxygen evolution reaction in alkaline water splitting using a hydrothermal method, which was followed by post-heat treatment. The effects of heat treatment on the electrochemical performance of the electrodes were evaluated under different heat-treatment conditions. The optimized NCO/NF-300 electrode showed an overpotential of 416 mV at a high current density of 50 mA/cm2 and a low Tafel slope (49.06 mV dec-1). It also showed excellent stability (due to the large surface area) and the lowest charge transfer resistance (12.59 Ω). The results suggested that our noble-metal free electrodes have great potential for use in developing alkaline electrolysis systems.

        A total of 594 reservoirs (17%), which are managed by KRC, equipped with earthquake-resistant facilities whereas remaining ones did not. In addition, reservoirs were placed without the effect of geological structures (i.e., fault and lineament). Therefore, development on technique for alleviating the potential hazards by natural disasters along faults and lineaments has required. In addition, an effective reinforcement guideline related to the geological vulnerabilities around reservoirs has required. The final goal of this study is to suggest the effective maintenance for the safety of earth fill dams. A radius 2 km, based on the center of the reservoir in the study area was set as the range of vulnerability impacts of each reservoir. Seismic design, precise safety diagnosis, seismic influence and geological structure were analyzed for the influence range of each reservoir. To classify the vulnerability of geological disasters according to the fault distribution around the reservoir, evaluation index of seismic performance, precise safety diagnosis, seismic influence and geological structure were also developed for each reservoir, which were a component of the vulnerability assessment of geological disasters. As a result, the reservoir with the highest vulnerability to geological disasters in the pilot district was analyzed as Kidong reservoir with an evaluation index of 0.364. Within the radius of 100km from the epicenter of the Pohang earthquake, the number of agricultural infrastructure facilities subject to urgent inspections were 1,180 including reservoirs, pumping stations and intakes. Four reservoirs were directly damaged by earthquake among 724 agricultural reservoirs. As a result of the precise inspection and electrical resistivity survey of the reservoir after the earthquake, it was reported that cracks on the crest of reservoirs were not a cause of concern. However, we are constantly monitoring the safety of agricultural facilities by Pohang aftershocks.

        전기비저항탐사는 제방 등의 수리시설물 안전 관리를 위해 널리 사용되는 방법이다. 본 연구에서는 서해안에 위치한 제방에서 해수측 조석 변화가 전기비저항 모니터링 자료의 해석에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 분석하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구를 위해 조석 변화가 많이 발생하는 제방에서 3일 동안 3시간 간격으로 전기비저항 변화를 모니터링 하였다. 전기비저항 모니터링 자료는 시간에 따라 특정 구간에서 비저항 분포 변화를 나타냈으며, 이러한 결과는 조석 변화와 상관성이 있는 것으로 파악하였다. 따라서 조석 변화가 큰 제방에서의 전기비저항 탐사는 이에 따른 고려를 필히 해줘야 한다. 향후 연구를 위해 보다 장기간에 걸친 전기비저항 모니터링 및 조석 변화의 분석이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

        본 연구는 갈색거저리(Tenebrio molitor)의 사료로 주로 이용되는 밀기울을 대체할 사료원료 개발을 목표로 수행되었다. 대체원료로서 열풍 건조시킨 귤껍질, 배추, 새송이버섯 및 팽이버섯 폐배지를 사용하였으며, 투여 후 유충의 생존율, 유충 무게, 유충의 발육기간, 용화율, 용무게를 측정하였다. 귤껍질과 배추를 첨가한 배지는 대체 먹이로 적합하지 않았다. 새송이버섯 폐배지의 모든 실험군에서 유충의 생존율은 대조군과 비 슷하였으나 유충의 무게는 대조군에 비해 다소 낮게 나타났고, 유충 발육기간은 폐배지의 함량이 높아질수록 길어짐이 관찰되었다. 팽이버섯 폐 배지 20~50% 첨가 조건에서 대조군과 비슷한 유충 및 용무게가 측정되었으며, 계대사육시 밀기울 사료에 40~50% 팽이버섯 폐배지를 첨가하 는 것이 용화율을 고려했을 때 가장 효과적일 것으로 분석되었다. 결론적으로, 팽이버섯 폐배지를 40%~50% 첨가한 조건에서 기존의 밀기울 사 육법과 비슷한 높은 효율성을 나타내기 때문에 팽이버섯 폐배지는 갈색거저리 유충의 대체사료로서 적합하다고 사료된다.

        본 연구는 갈색거저리(Tenebrio molitor) 사료 내 과일 및 채소 부산물, 버섯폐배지를 첨가하여 양질의 저렴한 사료를 개발하고자 수행되었다. 갈색거저리 사료인 밀기울을 대조군으로 사용하였고, 나머지 실험군은 밀기울과 열풍건조시킨 귤껍질, 배추, 새송이버섯 및 팽이버섯 폐배지의 첨가비율을 달리하여 먹이로 공급한 후, 유충의 발육특성을 비교 관찰하였다. 귤껍질을 20% 첨가한 군에서는 유충의 생존율, 유충 무게, 유충의 발육기간이 밀기울 대조군과 비슷한 수치를 나타냈으며, 용무게는 대조군보다 약1.2배 증가되었다. 배추를 첨가한 모든 군(배추 20%, 40%, 60% 첨가군)의 유충의 생존율과 유충 무게는 대조군에 비해 현저히 낮은 수준을 나타냈고, 배추를 60% 첨가한 군에서는 유충이 전혀 용화되지 않았다. 새송이버섯 폐배지를 첨가한 모든 군(새송이버섯 폐배지 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% 첨가군)에서 유충의 생존율은 밀기울 대조군과 비슷하였으나 유충의 무게는 새송이버섯 폐배지의 함량에 따라 약 60∼70%까지 감소하였다. 팽이버섯 폐배지를 첨가한 모든 군(팽이버섯 폐배지 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% 첨가군)에서 유충 및 용무게는 밀기울 대조군과 거의 차이가 없었다. 용화율은 팽이버섯 폐배지 40% 첨가군에서 밀기울 대조군과 동일한 수치를 나타냈고, 50% 첨가군에서 대조군보다 약3% 증가가 나타났다. 모든 조건을 고려했을 때, 팽이버섯 폐배지를 40%, 50% 첨가한 조건에서 기존의 밀기울 사육법과 비슷한 높은 효율성을 나타내기 때문에 팽이버섯 폐배지는 갈색거저리 유충의 대체사료로서 적합하다고 추찰된다.

        콘크리트 도로 하부의 이상대를 찾기 위해 전기비저항 탐사를 수행하였다. 콘크리트의 접지저항효과를 줄이기 위해 전기전도성이 좋은 매질과 평판 전극을 이용하였다. 전기비저항 탐사 결과를 분석하고 같은 장소에서 수행한 지하투과레이더 탐사, 충격응답기법, 다중채널 표면파 탐사 결과와 비교하였다. 전기비저항 탐사 결과는 함몰과 포장 구간에서 높은 비저항 분포를 보였으며, 지하투과레이더 탐사 결과는 보강으로 인한 형태를 보였다. 또한 충격응답기법과 전기비저항 탐사 결과의 비교를 통하여 보강 구간에서의 높은 동적강성도가 높은 비저항 분포의 원인임을 확인하였다. 동일한 장소에서 수행한 전기비저항 탐사와 다중채널 표면파 탐사 결과를 공동 크리깅한 결과, 지구통계학적 복합 해석이 각 지구물리 탐사결과에 대한 개별적인 분석보다 더 명확하게 이상대를 확인 할 수 있었다. 이 연구는 지구물리 탐사에 기초한 의사결정 과정에서 지구통계학을 이용한 복합 해석 결과의 활용 가능성을 제시한다.

        석회암 공동이 발달한 도심지역에서 지하수위 하강에 수반되어 발생한 함몰형 지반침하의 원인 규명 및 공동의 분포 특성 파악을 위하여 시추공을 이용한 전기비저항 토모그래피탐사를 실시하였다. 이때 지하수 수리지질 특성을 파악하기 위하여 시추코아의 비저항 측정, 지하수위 측정 및 수리전도도 해석을 병행하였다. 연구 지역에서의 완만한 지하수위 분포 특성과 0.8-9.3×10-4 cm/s 범위의 수리전도도 분포로 부터 연구지역의 수리지질 특성은 불균질성이 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 시추코아를 이용한 전기비저항 측정 결과 연구지역의 석회암은 파쇄가 많은 경우, 변질이 심한 경우 및 신선한 경우로 나눠지며, 전기비저항은 각각 103-161, 218-277 및 597-662 ohm-m의 범위로 나타났다. 시추결과 점토로 충전된 석회암 공동 지점은 토모그래피 탐사자료의 역산 결과 50 ohm-m 이하의 낮은 비저항으로 나타났으며, 각 시추공 간 비저항 영상 단면으로부터 연구지역 전체적으로 지표 하부 심도 약 10-20 m 구간까지 파쇄대 또는 석회암 공동 구간이 분포하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 석회암 공동의 직경은 약 4-6 m 규모로, 대부분 점토질로 충전된 것으로 판단된다.

        우리나라 서, 남해안에 지하수의 해수침투 현상을 관측하기 위해 설치된 관측망 자료를 이용하여, 해당지역별 대수층을 통한 해수침투의 유형을 분석하였다. 분석에 이용된 관측정은 25개 해안지역 소유역의 총 45개 암반관정으로, 지하수위, 수온, 전기전도도를 대상으로 기본통계분석, 상관성 분석 및 변동유형 분류를 수행하였다. 분석 결과 지하수위의 경우 강우 영향을 받거나 양수에 의한 수위강하가 나타나는 관측정에서 큰 폭으로 변동하고 있다. 지하수온은 대부분의 경우 변동폭이 0.2˚C 이내로 안정적인 특징을 보여주고 있으며, 전체적으로 평균 온도가 15˚C 이상으로 나타났다. 전기전도도의 경우 상대적으로 변동폭이 크고 불규칙한 특징을 가지고 있으며, 평균값이 2,000 μS/cm 이내의 관측정이 28개, 10,000 μS/cm를 초과하는 관측정은 9개소로 나타났다. 교차상관도 분석에 의하면, 지하수위는 강우의 영향을 받아 변동하는 형태가 많았지만 수온과 전기전도도는 상대적으로 강우의 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 조석의 경우에는 일부 관측정에서 강우에 의한 영향보다 높은 교차상관도가 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 장기관측자료를 변동형태에 따라 정상형, 추세형, 주기형, 충동형, 계단형, 경사형 등 6가지로 분류하였다. 지하수위의 경우 강우나 양수의 영향을 받는 충동형이 가장 많은 73.3%이며, 조석의 영향은 13.4%에 해당되었다. 지하수온의 경우 변동폭이 일정한 정상형태가 51.2로 가장 높게 나타났으며, 강우나 양수에 의한 충동형이 26.7%에 해당되었다. 전기전도도의 경우는 지하수위나 지하수온과 달리 추세형, 계단형, 경사형 등의 변동형태가 우세한 것으로 나타났다. 전체적으로 동일한 해안지역에 설치된 관측정별로 관측자료의 변동 특성이 상이한 경우가 나타남에 따라, 향후 각 소유역별로 관측정 자료의 정기적인 변동 경향성을 분석하는 것이 필요하다.

        The estimation of groundwater usage in Jeju island is important to understand hydrologic cycle system and to plan management of water resource because large amounts of groundwater have been used for agricultural and domestic purpose. The model has been developed to estimate agricultural groundwater usage for garlic at uplands and citrus at orchards raising outdoors using the soil water balance model from FAO 56, respectively. The total amount of water supplied for the crop evapotranspiration and the multipurpose function such as sprout promotion can be simulated by the model. However, due to the discrepancy of water use in initial stage between calculated and observed, the model was calibrated and verified using actual groundwater usage monitoring data for 3.5 years (2011.6 to 2014.12) at three uplands for garlic and three orchards for citrus. Consequently, it would be concluded that the model simulated efficiently actual water usage in that root mean square (RMS) and normalized RMS of the validation stage were less than 8.99 mm and 2.43%, respectively, in two different conditions.

        The grid-based water balance of watershed scale was assessed in the mountainous area of Pyosun catchment in Jeju Island after analyzing precipitation, evapotranspiration, and runoff from January 2008 to December 2013. The existing results of direct runoff, evapotranspirtion, and groundwater recharge comparing to precipitation were presented 22.0%, 25.6%, and 52.4%, respectively, in Pyosun catchment. However, this study indicated each component shows 14.5%, 24.2%, and 61.0%, respectively, in the mountainous area of Pyosun catchment. Therefore, groundwater recharge rate in the mountainous area appears higher than 10% comparing to the overall catchment. It would be analyzed that the amount of direct runoff is relatively small. Moreover, this difference could be generated because of the spatial discontinuities in the process of estimating the total amount of precipitation in the mountainous area. Therefore, the grid-based spatial analysis to maximize the spatial continuity would be useful for providing a more reasonable result when the total amount of water resources are evaluated in mountainous areas in the future.

        To estimate water balance of Pyosun watershed in Jeju Island, a three-dimensional finite difference model MODFLOW was applied. Moreover, the accuracy of groundwater flow modeling was evaluated through the comparison of the recharge rate by flow modeling and the existing one from water balance model. The modeling result under the steady-state condition indicates that groundwater flow direction was from Mt. Halla to the South Sea and groundwater gradient was gradually lowered depending on the elevation. Annual recharge rate by the groundwater flow modeling in Pyosun watershed was calculated to 236 million m3/year and it was found to be very low as compared to the recharge rate 238 million m3/year by the existing water balance model. Therefore, groundwater flow modeling turned out to be useful to estimate the recharge rate in Pyosun watershed and it would be available to make groundwater management policy for watershed in the future.

        Due to tidal force, it is very difficult to estimate the hydraulic parameters of high permeable aquifer near coastal area in Jeju Island. Therefore, to eliminate the impact of tidal force from groundwater level and estimate the hydraulic properties, tidal response technique has been mainly studied. In this study we have extracted 38 tidal constituents from groundwater level and harmonic constants including frequency, amplitude, and phase of each constituent using T_TIDE subroutine which is used to estimate oceanic tidal constituents, and then we have estimated hydraulic diffusivity associated with amplitude attenuation factor(that is the ratio of groundwater level amplitude to sea level amplitude for each tidal constituent) and phase lag(that is phase difference between groundwater level and sea level for each constituent). Also using harmonic constants for each constituent, we made the sinusoidal wave and then we constructed the synthesized wave which linearly combined sinusoidal wave. Finally, we could get residuals(net groundwater level) which was excluded most of tidal influences by eliminating synthesized wave from raw groundwater level. As a result of comparing statistics for synthesized level and net groundwater level, we found that the statistics for net groundwater level was more insignificant than those of synthesized wave. Moreover, in case of coastal aquifer which the impact of tidal force is even more than those of other environmental factors such as rainfall and groundwater yield, it is possible to predict groundwater level using synthesized wave and regression analysis of residuals.

        Spatial and temporal patterns of precipitation and temperature occur with regard to aspect and elevation of Mt. Halla in Jeju Island. Therefore, there is a need to predict regional drought associate with them to mitigate of impacts of drought. In this study, regional drought is predicted based on Palmer drought severity index (PDSI) and standardized precipitation index (SPI) using future (2015~2044) climate change scenario RCP (representative concentration pathways) 4.5 classified as 24 regions according to aspect and elevation. The results show that number and duration of drought will be decrease in Jeju Island. However, severity of severe drought will be increase in western and northern aspect with under 200 meters above mean sea level. These findings provide primary information for developing the proactive strategies to mitigate impacts of drought by future climate change in Jeju Island.

        Quantitative assessment of groundwater level change under extreme event is important since groundwater system is directly affected by drought. Substantially, groundwater level fluctuation reveals to be delayed from several hours to few months after raining according to the aquifer characteristics. Groundwater system in Jeju Island would be also affected by drought and almost all regions were suffered from a severe drought during summer season (July to September) in 2013. To estimate the effect of precipitation to groundwater system, monthly mean groundwater levels in 2013 compared to those in the past from 48 monitoring wells belong to be largely affected by rainfall(Dr) over Jeju Island were analyzed. Mean groundwater levels during summer season recorded 100 mm lowered of precipitation compared to the past 30 years became decreased to range from 2.63 m to 5.42 m in southern region compared to the past and continued to December. These decreasing trends are also found in western(from –1.21 m to –4.06 m), eastern(-0.91 m to –3.24 m), and northern region(from 0.58 m to –4.02 m), respectively. Moreover, the response of groundwater level from drought turned out to be –3.80 m in August after delaying about one month. Therefore, severe drought in 2013 played an important role on groundwater system in Jeju Island and the effect of drought for groundwater level fluctuation was higher in southern region than other ones according to the regional difference of precipitation decrease.

        Over 96.2% of the agricultural water in Jeju Island is obtained from groundwater and there are quite distinct characteristics of agricultural water demand/supply spatially because of regional and seasonal differences in cropping system and rainfall amount. Land use for cultivating crops is expected to decrease 7.4% (4,215 ha) in 2020 compared to 2010, while market garden including various vegetable crop types having high water demand is increasing over the Island, especially western area having lower rainfall amount compared to southern area. On the other hand, land use for fruit including citrus and mandarin having low water demand is widely distributed over southern and northern part having higher rainfall amount. The agricultural water demand of 1,214×10 3 ㎥/day in 2020 is estimated about 1.39 times compared to groundwater supply capacity of 874×10 3 ㎥/day in 2010 with 42.4% of eastern, 103.1% of western, 61.9% of southern, and 77.0% of northern region. Moreover, net secured amount of agricultural groundwater would be expected to be much smaller due to regional disparity of water demand/supply, the lack of linkage system between the agricultural water supply facilities, and high percentage of private wells. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the total net secured amount of agricultural groundwater to overcome the expected regional discrepancy of water demand and supply by establishing policy alternative of regional water supply plan over the Island, including linkage system between wells, water tank enlargement, private wells maintenance and public wells development, and continuous enlargement of rainwater utilization facilities.

        Recently, the occurrences of droughts have been increased because of global warming and climate change. Water resources that mostly rely on groundwater are particularly vulnerable to the impact of precipitation variation, one of the major elements of climate change, are very sensitive to changes in the seasonal distribution as well as the average annual change in the viewpoint of agricultural activity. In this study, the status of drought for the present and future on Jeju Island which entirely rely on groundwater using SPI and PDSI were analyzed considering regional distribution of crops in terms of land use and fluctuation of water demand. The results showed that the precipitation distribution in Jeju Island is changed in intensity as well as seasonal variation of extreme events and the amount increase of precipitation during the dry season in the spring and fall indicated that agricultural water demand and supply policies would be considered by regional characteristics, especially the western region with largest market garden crops. Regarding the simulated future drought, the drought would be mitigated in the SPI method because of considering total rainfall only excluding intensity variation, while more intensified in the PDSI because it considers the evapotranspiration as well as rainfall as time passed. Moreover, the drought in the northern and western regions is getting worse than in the southern region so that the establishment of regional customized policies for water supply in Jeju Island is needed.

        Fluctuation patterns of groundwater level as a factor that reflects the characteristics of groundwater system can be categorized as the various types of aquifer with the time-series data. Time-series data on groundwater level obtained from 115 monitoring wells in Jeju Island were classified according to variation types, which were largely affected by rainfall(Dr), rainfall and pumping(Drp), and unknown cause(De). Analysis results indicate that 106 wells belong to Dr and Drp and the ratio of the wells with the wide range of fluctuation in the western and northern regions was higher than that in the eastern and southern regions. From the results that Drp is relatively higher than Dr in the western region which has the largest agricultural areas, groundwater level fluctuations may be affected significantly due to the intensive agricultural use. Non-parametric trend analysis results for 115 monitoring wells show that the increasing and decreasing trends as the ratio of groundwater levels were 14.8% and 22.6%, respectively, and groundwater levels revealed to be increased in the western, southern and northern regions excluding eastern region. Results of correlation analysis that cross-correlation coefficients and the time lags in the eastern and western regions are relatively high and short, respectively, indicate that the rainfall recharge effect in these regions is relatively larger due to the gentle slope of topography compared to that in the southern and northern regions.
