산업혁명 이후 문명의 발달로 인한 인구의 증가와 도시화는 현대인의 삶을 급격히 변화시키고 있다. 인권과 자연과의 공생이 주장되기 시작한 19세기 중반 이후의 사상가와 문필가로부터 환경 친화적 개념을 도입한 디자인 교육자들과 정치가 등 다양한 분야의 실천가들과 그들의 대표적인 저서와 사상을 고찰하였다. 이들의 사상과 함께 태동한 생태학의 이론과 개념 으로부터, 생태학적 디자인은 인간과 환경의 공존을 위한 대안으로 활용되고 있다. 생태학적 디자인이라는 큰 영역 속에서 에코디자인(Eco Design), 그린디자인(Green Design), 환경친화적 디자인(Eco Friendly Design), 지속가능한 디자인 (Sustainable Design) 등 다양한 이름으로 불리며, 비슷하면서도 다른 디자인 관점에 대해 고찰한다. 특히 ‘지속가능한 디자 인’이라 불리고 사용되는 디자인의 개념을 시간과 공간과 프로세스로 구분하여 소개하고, 디자인 사례를 통해 ‘지속가능성’ 이라는 불분명한 개념을 디자인 관점에서 구체적으로 인지할 수 있도록 하였다. 환경과 인간 활동의 공존, 지속가능한 발전을 위해 더 많은 생태학적 디자인 연구가 진행되어야 할 것이다.

지구 온난화 및 미세먼지 증가로 인해 악화된 도시 환경을 개선하기 위하여, 식물 적용에 대한 다양한 방법들이 모색되고 있다. 본 연구는 인공지반에 적용할 수 있는 녹다운(knock-down)방식의 식물 식재시스템 디자인에 관한 것이다. 기존의 알루미늄 프로파일을 이용한 조립구조형식의 플랜터는 제품의 생산, 운송, 설치 등 각 단계별로 발생할 수 있는 자원소비와 휨, 나사의 부식, 조립 해체의 어려움 등 기술적 문제점을 지닌다. 기존 플랜터의 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 부품종류 및 수량을 간소화하고, 반제품상태로 분리하여 평면화시킨 녹다운방식의 식재시스템을 도입하였다. 본 연구의 녹다운 방식의 식재시스템은 공장조립의 완제품에 비해 부피를 절감하여 운송비용의 감소 효과가 있으며, 비전문가에 의해서도 동일한 완성도를 기대할 수 있다. 운송과 설치가 간단한 시스템을 이용하여 다양한 식물의 특성을 반영한 디자인을 통해, 도시의 옥상을 포함한 인공지반에 더 많은 식물을 도입할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

According to survey for development of container to producers who carry out container cultivation, the most important thing is ‘Realization of cultivation techniques (Prune roots, Water saving, Heat conservation)’ as the basis for the design of container and this survey showed that the best one is ‘small and medium-sized container of less than 50L’ as the size of container suitable for cultivation. To investigate the growth characteristics of plants according to the type of container, we classified the container into three types and then planted public plants Pinus densiflora, Cornus kousa, Chionanthus retusa in 12types of containers repeatedly three times. After Comparison of the growth of the Root-collar diameter, Rib-type is showed the highest growth of the Root-collar diameter in case of Pot-type. So, active effects of prune roots impact on positive the growth of plants. Grow inside the ground-type is showed the highest in case of Growing Bag-type and Root skirt-type is showed the highest in case of Bag in pot-type. After, In subsequent studies, based on this study, produce development prototype of design container and test them. and then to investigate the possibility of applying to the farmhouse.
