        This study deals with optimized structural analysis of stainless rectangular water reservoirs with 5,000ton capacity for various combined load cases. The objective of this study is to propose most efficient structural models through the comparison of various model cases. In order to perform an optimized analysis, three dimensional finite element analyses are carried out for large sized models. The numerical results obtained provides the detailed size and thickness for optimal design of water reservoir. In particular, results reported in this paper show the influence of various types of loading and dimensions of the wall and stiffened column on the structural behavior of the large sized water tanks.

        A finite element simulation study was performed to determine influences of different post spaces and thicknesses of crash barriers on the dynamic behaviors due to truck crash. Accuracy of the simulation was verified using qualitative and quantitative comparisons. Based on in-depth examination of crash simulation recordings, energy distributions occurred in the barrier against the car are determined. In this paper, the existing finite element crash analysis of barriers using the LS-DYNA program is further extended to study the dynamic response of the barrier with various geometries of the guardrail. The numerical results for various parameters are verified by comparing different models.

        This study dealt with passenger safety assessment of roadside barrier structures using high anti-corrosion steels, which are called hot-dip zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy-coated steels. We performed a simulation with high anti-corrosion barriers capable of absorbing impacts and calculated the breakage stress to assess passenger safety. Passenger safety was assessed by calculating the THIV (Theoretical Head Impact Velocity) and PHD (Post-Impact Head Deceleration). This process compares normal steel materials and high anti-corrosion steel materials. The simulation test results for the roadside barriers built with high strength anti-corrosion steels with reduced sectional thickness meet the safety evaluation criteria, hence the proposed roadside barrier made by high strength and high anti-corrosion hot-dip zinc-aluminium-magnesium alloy-coated steel will be a good solution to serve passenger safety as well as save maintenance cost and better structural performance.

        This study performed an inverse detection of fiber stiffness degradation that occurs due to damages in free vibrating composite structures. Five unknown parameters are considered to determine the fiber stiffness which is a modified form of the bivariate Gaussian distribution function. The proposed approach is more feasible than the conventional element-based damage detection method from the computational efficiency because a finite element analysis coupled with a genetic algorithm using a small number of unknown parameters is performed. The numerical examples show that the proposed technique is a feasible and practical method, which can prove the location of a damaged region as well as inspect the distribution of deteriorated fiber stiffness although there is a small difference in dynamic characteristics between damaged and undamaged structures.

        The finite element analysis of large sized rectangular water tank structures made of stainless steel materials is carried out for various combined load cases. The combined load cases for a large size of 5,000ton are further determined using the specification(KS B 6283) established from the Korean Standards Association. For the better numerical efficiency, the rectangular panels are modelled using the ANSYS program. The numerical results obtained for different load cases show as follows. In order to resist the snow load, it takes the influence of the gap than the size of the column. Also, in order to resist the water pressure, it shall increase the thickness of the wall. But, increasing the thickness of the wall is considerably less economical. Therefore, the angle with big thickness should be placed right next to the wall.

        This study performed a finite element stress analysis of pipe system connected by bellows based on APDL(ANSYS Parametric Design Language) customizing. The effects of different shapes of developed pipes for various parameters are studied using the finite element commercial package for this study. The structural behavior of complex pipe structures with bellows was also investigated to study the interactions between bellows and other parts. Based on the ANSYS APDL, the effect of initial axial and lateral displacements, and internal temperature and pressure on the Von Mises stress distribution is also analyzed.

        This study involved the shape of water jet nozzle to promote blasting ability and an increase of projection distance when cleaning VLBC cargo hold. Simulation of water jet projection process inside VLBC cargo hold was done in both 2D and 3D environment. The result are promising since both case show the capability of water contacting the desired target.

        In this study we developed an integrated precast concrete decks for a rapid construction. The structural performance in the integrated precast bridge decks is evaluated by real-scale test bed and detailed finite element analyses. The numerical analysis results were compared with the experimental data from a real-scaled single-span precast/prestressed concrete bridge decks under truck loading. Parametric studies are focused on the various effects of external loads on the structural behavior for different locations and measuring points on the precast bridge decks. The assessment in this study indicates that the integrated precast bridge decks show an excellent structural performance as expected.

        This study involved the shape of water jet nozzle to promote blasting ability and an increase of projection distance when cleaning VLBC cargo hold. Furthermore, I researched the effect of pressure, length of reducer, nozzle caliber size and nozzle shape on the nozzle through CFD simulation. Simulation of water jet projection process inside VLBC cargo hold was done in both 2D and 3D environment. Simulation results show installing suitable nozzle can increase the cleaning effect of cargo hold.

The numerical results obtained for different load cases mainly show the effect of the interactions between the different load combination and other various parameters, for example, the water capacity, and different stainless steel materials. The structural performance for various load combinations is also evaluated.

        In this paper, we study the calculation for the fracture area of the tension specimens using digital image processing techniques. This study was able to calculate the area of the fracture region on the basis of improved image. To extract the area in the original image, we have to use opening operation, close operation, the Hit-or-Miss operation and Bottom hat filter, Top hat filter, etc. In particular, to extract the area of the composite specimen discussed in this study, we have to use the combination of the operations and filters because it is non-isotropic material, or should develop a new algorithm based on it.

        In this study, we performed non-elastic dynamic analyses using LS-DYNA for plate structures made of laminated composite materials. It was used mat_59_composite_failure_shell_model providing from LS-DYNA as material model of composite material The material which is applied in the analysis as CFRP and GFRP, were compared by performing the dynamic analysis in accordance with various layup sequences. Numerical results show structural resistance against impact loading for different materials. In addition, The significance of the layup sequence in analyzing composite structures under impact loading is enunciated in this paper

        This study performed a finite element crash analysis of support structures made of various composite materials for road facilities. The effects of different material properties of composites for various parameters are studied using the finite element commercial package for this study. In this study, the existing finite element analysis of composite post structures using the LS-DYNA program is further extended to compare dynamic behaviors against car crash of the structures made of various composite materials. The several numerical examples show the comparison of the nonlinear dynamic effects for different materials.

        본 연구는 냉각코일과 리튬브로마이드 수용액을 활용 하여 유리 chamber 내 냉각 및 제습 실험을 수행하였다. 냉각수 온도별 냉각 효과와 리튬브로마이드 수용액의 제습량을 확인하였으며, 이를 동시에 적용하여 실험을 수행하였다. 냉각수 온도별 냉각 실험은 279K, 286K, 293K에서 각각 19K, 13K, 10K 가량 감소되는 경향을 보였다. 냉각수 온도가 낮을수록 높은 냉각 성능을 보였으며, 여름철 상하수도 온도인 293K의 물로도 충분히 작물이 생육하기 좋은 온실 내부온도를 유지할 수 있다고 판단되었다. 또한 리튬브로마이드 수용액을 활용한 제습 실험에서는 약 80%의 외부 습도가 리튬브로마이드 수용액과 결합하여 약 50%로 감소되어 약 30%의 제습량을 보였으며, 이는 시설 내 제습 시스템의 적용에 적합한 물질로 판단된다. 냉각코일과 리튬브로마이드 수용액을 동시에 적용한 실험에서 약 9K의 온도 강하, 15%의 제습량을 나타냈으며, 리튬브로마이드 수용액이 수증기를 흡수하는 과정에서 반응열이 발생하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한, 시뮬레이션을 통해 냉각 실험 결과와 대비 비교 한 결과 약 299.7K의 내부 온도를 보여 일치하는 것을 확인하였다. 수분의 제습과정을 거치면서 농도가 낮아진 리튬브로 마이드 수용액(희용액)은 수집탱크로 모아 재생부로 이송되어 가열, 수분을 증발시켜 농용액으로 전환된 후 열 교환을 거쳐 냉각되어 다시 제습시스템으로 공급되는 시스템을 적용하면 일정량의 리튬브로마이드 수용액만으로 온실 제습을 할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 본 실험을 통해 냉각 및 제습이 동시에 가능하다는 것을 확인하였으며, 리튬브로마이드 수용액을 활용하여 실제 온실에 적용된다면 기존 온실에서 사용하고 있는 냉방 및 제습 방법에 비해 에너지 절감을 통한 경제적 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 향후, 제습 부분은 시뮬레이션을 통한 분석 및 실험결과와 대비 검증이 요구되고, Lab scale의 제습 시스템에 서 Farm scale의 온실 규모로 확장하여, 추가 변수에 대한 제습 및 냉각 연구가 수행되어야 할 것이다.
