Do automobile test drive reviews really deliver objective information to consumers with scientific expressions? For the analysis, samples were collected from eighteen media outlets -- ten Korean and eight foreign. Collected samples of car reviews were analyzed in terms of sentence unit and classified into two categories: either a sentence with scientific expressions or a sentence with non-scientific expressions. Result showed that car review from 9 medias only had portion of sentence with scientific expressions exceeding 50 percent. Result supports this research's hypothesis that "test drive review of automobile isn't scientific."
Biodiesel as alternative energy source of the traditional petroleum fuels has increased interest, because environmental pollution based exhaust emissions from vehicle became serious. The advantage of biodiesel produced from esterification of vegetable and animal oils can be used without the modification of existing diesel engine, but glycerin is generated by production process. In this study, the usability of non-esterification biodiesel as an alternative fuel was investigated in a indirect injection diesel engine. The non-esterification biodiesel has not generated glycerin in esterification process and reduced the 20 percent of cost because it has not used methanol in the production process. Experiments were conducted by using the 5, 10 and 20 percentage of biodiesel and 4 and 8 percentage of biodiesel with 1 and 2 percentage of WDP in baseline diesel fuel. The smoke emission of biodiesel was reduced in comparison with diesel fuel, but power, torque and brake specific energy consumption was similar to diesel fuel.
Since the expectations and demand for higher ride comfort of the customers (driver and passengers) have been dramatically increased, new vehicle model launched on the market have not only better performance and design-wise appealing, but also ride comfort has to be increasingly better than its predecessor. Automotive manufactures have focused on the increasing human thermal comfort. To achieve a high thermal comfort, most manufacturers provide a system for their cars to ensure ventilation, heating and cooling air in the passenger compartment. As results, the influence of the seats and situations in the thermal human comfort are considered. And, the temperature distribution pattern on the human face is acquired at natural condition, both warm condition on which seat is managed around 30℃ and hot condition on which seat is managed around 50℃.
The tyre/road noise becomes aggravated due to the rapid increase of motor vehicles. It has a great effect on the dwelling environment. Therefore we investigate the characteristics and sources of the tyre/road noise through grasping the status of the tyre/road noise. Traffic noise results from the collective contribution of the noise produced by individual motor vehicles. The tyre/road noise varies enormously depending upon its type and mode of operation. In this study, we investigate the noise labelling of EU tire.
The purpose of this study is to develop the automatic water wank for rural living water with a built-in filter device. For this purpose, the author carrying out the design and production of devices such as a stacked plate filter, automatic water tank and water purification equipment, main control system and solenoid valve, solar cell, battery, water gauge, flowmeter and pump, etc. As a result, the author obtained very good results which satisfy all the research and development objectives planned. In addition, the water quality test results received, it is determined that the water is suitable for rural living water standards of the developed prototype.
Infrared thermography provides the colorful images of concerning area where local changes of surface temperature occurs and can be used to measure the fine temperature of human body. Unlike the radiography technique, it is determined by the presence or absence of existing anatomical principles capable of quantitative evaluation and visible to the physiological and functional state of the human body. In this paper, it was studied the characteristics of dynamic motion conditions in the hands due to physiological changes of temperature distribution. The results showed that the difference between the change in temperature characteristics for the left and right hand.
This study analyzed by measuring the voltage waveform of the injector intended for operating CRDI diesel vehicle. The cases of the EGR trouble and a EGR normal is considered.
1) The voltage waveform in the case of the normal and trouble, the difference between the maximum voltage was not large, decrease in the number of voltage gated pulses with the increase in engine speed, sustained current remained for this period.
2) The voltage waveform, comparing the case of the normal case and trouble, the size of the maximum voltage, no large change in gate pulse voltage is to be generated than in the case of a defective irregular longer opening time of the injector factor it was possible to know the bad influence on the fuel efficiency.
An air cleaning unit(ACU) in a nuclear power plant plays a role on cooling the safety-related components whose function is involved in the reactor shutdown, and maintains the suitable temperature and humidity for work in the rooms where an operator is working on. To guarantee the performance of the unit the design of ACU should be subject to credible codes and standards, such as ASME, ANSI and ASHRAE, etc. On top of them, the desorption of the carbon adsorber is addressed in ASME N509 which causes the adsorber no longer to capture the iodine isotopes produced by the severe accident. In this study, the equations of the heat source were derived from the radioactive decay heat of each iodine isotopes. From the resultant equation, the maximum temperature below 300oF for the desorption was calculated under a proposed condition and analysed with the reference results.
As a part of light weight, the adhesive has been applied to joint the mechanical structure. The porous material is used with aluminum foam in case of the structure bonded with only adhesive. In order to confirm the durability, it is necessary to investigate the fracture toughness at the bonded joint. So, the fracture property at joint interface of aluminum foam different from the non-porous material becomes especially important. In this study, the tapered double cantilever beams(TDCB) with the type of mode Ⅲ are manufactured with aluminum foam. The fracture toughness at the joint of the structure bonded with only a adhesive can be obtained. The static analyses are carried out and verified the results by the experiment. As the results of static analyses, the reaction forces ranged from 0.30 to 0.41 kN at all specimens are shown when the forced displacements are proceeded as much as 7 to 9 mm. As the results of analyses and experiments are compared with each other, there is a little bit of difference between these results. Through the result of this study, the mechanical properties at TDCB specimens with the type of mode Ⅲ can be understood.
In this study, natural frequency characteristics of road mower head system are investigated through experiment and numerical analysis. ANSYS workbench 14.5 is used to calculate the frequency analysis in the mower system. Compared the natural frequency using the modal test and computerized analysis. When compared with the experimental results, a 5% error rate has occurred. Simulation results showed that vibration mode shape has directional characteristics, especially to the right and left. These results will be helpful in optimal design for road mower head systems.

In this study, the analyses of structure, fatigue and vibration with two models of 1 and 2. As the result of structural analysis, the equivalent stress and the total deforamtion of model 1 become higher than those of model 2.Model 1 shows fatigue life more than model 2. As the vibration analysis, model 1 has the safety better than model 2. As shown by these results, the main parts ofdamage and the weak areas can be investigated to differ from each other according to the configuration of model though these models have the same material property. The result of this study through the analysis can be applied to develop the optimal design of automotive seat frame with durabilty and safety.
The aim of experimental evaluation is to investigate the effect of wear resistance on 3D printing FDM(Fused Deposition Modeling). For this purpose, ABS(Acrylonitrile Buadiene Styrene) material was applied to test of wear-resistance. Ball-on-disk wear test has been performed using steel balls to determine the variation of tribological characteristics. Friction coefficient, wear loss and friction force showed a difference in the respective test conditions.
The measuring equipment capable of thermo measuring of wide range thermo range(0℃ ~ 160 0℃) will be developed in a high temperature and high pressure state. The developed technology is a combination of one measuring two different temperatures measured in the measuring to a high temperature as possible at a low temperature from thermocouple module(thermocouple) to develop an integrated measuring device capable of measuring the broadband. Also, to develop two or more guard module to ensure the water-tightness and durability of the device to develop in a vacuum or high pressure is applied to the one-piece measuring device.
