Prevention of radiation hazards to workers and the environment in the event of decommissioning nuclear power plants is a top priority. To this end, it is essential to continuously perform radiation characterization before and during decommissioning. In operating nuclear power plants, various detectors are used depending on the purpose of measurement. Portable detectors used in power plants have excellent portability, but there is a limit to the use of a single measuring device alone to quantify radioactive contamination, nuclide analysis, and ensure representation of measurement results. In foreign countries, gamma-ray visualization detectors are being actively used for operating and decommissioning nuclear power plants. KHNP is also conducting research on the development of gamma-ray visualization detectors for multipurpose field measurement at decommissioning nuclear power plants. It aims to develop detectors capable of visualizing radioactive contamination, analyzing nuclides, estimating radioactivity, and estimating dose rates. To this end, we are developing related software according to the development process by purchasing sensors from H3D, which account for more than 75% of the US gamma-ray visualization detector market. In addition, field tests are planned in the order of Wolsong Unit 1 and Kori Unit 1 with Research reactor in Gongneung-dong in accordance with the progress of development. The detector will be optimized by analyzing the test results according to various gamma radiation field environments. The development detector will be used for various measurement purposes for Kori unit 1 and Wolsong

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Kojongsi persimmon peels as a mushroom substrate on antioxidant activity of Pleurotus eryngii. The Pleurotus eryngii was growth on the medium with 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 40, 50% Kojongsi persimmon peels. The Pleurotus eryngii was extracted into ethanol and their antioxidant activities were analyzed. The total polyphenol content was highest in the 20% Kojongsi persimmon peels treatment (40±0.38 mg of gallic acid equivalents/100 g) than 0% Kojongsi persimmon peels treatment (21 ±0.18 mg of gallic acid equivalents/100 g). The 20% Kojongsi persimmon peels treatment showed better DPPH scavenging activity (36.81±0.23% at 1 mg/ml), ABTS scavenging activity (39.03±0.10% at 1 mg/ml) and reducing power (0.3±0.10% at 1 mg/ml) than 0% Kojongsi persimmon peels treatment and another extract ones. Overall, total polyphenol content and antioxidant activities of extracts from Pleurotus eryngii was increased dose dependently and 20% Kojongsi persimmon peels treatment was showed better total polyphenol content and antioxidant activities than 0% Kojongsi persimmon peels treatment and another extract ones.

This study was carried out to investigate optimal mixture of persimmon peels for Pleurotus eryngii cultivation. The 5-50% of persimmon peels was mixed with mushroom growing medium for Pleurotus eryngii cultivation. Mycelial growth of persimmon peels treatment were 74-165 mm (28 days) and slower than that of control (treatment without persimmon peels) as 160 mm (28 days). Mycelial growth time of 5-20% persimmon peels treatment were similar to control as 34 days but that 30-50% of persimmon peels treatment were delayed for 17 days. The time of pinhead formations in control and 5-50% persimmon peels treatment were 11 days, the growth time to harvest were 6-7 days. The sizes of pileus of 15% persimmon peels treatment was tend to be smaller compared with control. The length of stipe of 15% persimmon peels treatment was 124 mm which was longer than that of the control with 118 mm. The thickness of stipes of 15% persimmon peels treatments was 48 mm which were tend to be thicker than that of the control with 47 mm. Thirty percent of persimmon peels treatment was better than other treatment comparing with control.

This study was carried out to develope mushroom growing medium for Pleurotus eryngii cultivation using persimmon peels. Total nitrogen, carbon source and protein of commercial cultivation medium used in this study was 1.34, 53.9 and 0.09 %, respectively. The C/N ratio was 40.22. The total nitrogen was increased by increasing mixing ratio of persimmon peels. The carbon source and protein was no significant difference by increasing mixing ratio of persimmon peels. In column test, mycelial growth of 15% persimmon peels treatment was similar with control, but mycelia of 20-50% persimmon peels treatment was growed slowly compared with control. To investigate yields of fruiting body, 15% of persimmon peels was mixed with commercial cultivation medium. The fruiting body of 15% persimmon peels treatment was no significant difference yield compared with control. But, the chemical contents of 15% persimmon peels treatment were the higher than control.

This study aimed to analyze difference in clinical findings, including coronary artery complications, in patients with Kawasaki disease and respiratory symptoms with several respiratory infections. We studied 182 pediatric patients diagnosed with Kawasaki disease. Examinations for respiratory viral polymerase chain reaction were conducted in the group of patients with respiratory symptoms. Echocardiography was perfomed by a pediatric cardiologist, and laboratory findings were evaluated. Clinical manifestations and laboratory findings based on medical records were compared. There were no differences between patients with and without respiratory viral infections with respect to age, male-female ratio, coronary artery complications, Kawasaki disease-specific clinical manifestations, duration of fever, duration of hospitalization, or recurrence rate. There was a significant difference in C-reactive protein levels (55.6 vs. 73.9 mg/L) between the two groups, but the other laboratory findings. The rate of respiratory infections in pediatric patients with Kawasaki disease was similar to those reported in previous studies, and clinical manifestations and laboratory findings were not significantly different between the groups.

This study was carried out to compare the physicochemical characteristics of vinegars fermented from cereal crops such as glutinous and nonglutinous foxtail millet, proso millet, sorghum and adlay, and Incalgyun. The crude protein, minerals and P2O5 contents of vinegars fermented from cereal crops and Incalgyun were higher than circulation brown rice vinegar. Brix degree, turbidity and pH of vinegar fermented from cereal crops and Incalgyun were higher, and total acidity was lower than circulation brown rice vinegar. The glucose content of circulation brown rice vinegar was 4.89 mg/mL, and vinegars fermented from cereal crops were 0.00-5.62 mg/mL. The total organic acid content of circulation brown rice vinegar was 41.92 mg/mL, and vinegars fermented from cereal crops were 12.14-42.31 mg/mL. The major organic acids were acetic acid, succinic acid and citric acid. The total polyphenol content of circulation brown rice vinegar was 0.023 mg/mL, vinegars fermented from cereal crops were 0.286-0.413 mg/mL, and vinegars fermented from cereal crops and Incalgyun were 0.266-0.396 mg/mL. The ABTS and DPPH radical scavenging activities of vinegars fermented from cereal crops were higher than circulation brown rice vinegar.
