본 연구는 온시디움에 있어서 particle bombardment 및 아그로박테리움 매개 형질전환 최적 조건을 구명하 고자 실시하였다. 실험재료는 ‘Sharry Baby’의 PLBs를 사용하였으며, 유전자는 pCAMBIA3301 vector에 삽입 되어 있는 bar와 intron-gus를 사용하였다. Particle bombardment 법에 있어서는 직경이 0.6 μm인 금 입자 에 유전자를 혼합하여 9 cm의 거리에서 1,100 psi 헬륨 가스 압으로 발사하는 것이 유전자 도입에 효과적이었 다. 아그로박테리움 매개법에 있어서는 미성숙 PLBs를 O.D 0.6 정도인 균주에 접종 후 5일간 광조건 없이 공동 배양하는 것이 유전자 도입에 효과적이었다.

‘아프리콧스타’는 국립원예특작과학원에서 2008년에 육성된 FA 아속간 잡종 나리 품종이다. 1999년에 ‘FA97-30 (Raizan × A61)’ 계통을 모본으로 하고, 아시아틱나리 ‘Sgl Pepper’품종을 부본으로 하여 화주절단수분법(CSM)으로 교배하였다. 교배 6주 후에 미숙 꼬투리를 배주 배양하여 획득한 유식물체를 순화, 양구하여 2003년에 상향개화성이고, 화형이 안정되고 화색이 우수하여 ‘FA03-10’ 계통으로 선발하였다. 이 계통은 2004년부터 2007년까지 조직배양에 의한 대량증식, 순화 및 구근생산 과정을 거쳐 생육 및 특성검정을 수행하였다. 2008년에 국립원예특작과학원에서 실시한 나리 육성계통 평가회에서 소비자 및 전문가들의 기호성이 높게 평가되어 최종선발 되었다. ‘아프리콧스타’ 품종의 개화기는 6월 하순이다. 초장은 152 cm이상 신장한다. 꽃은 상향으로 개화하고, 화색은 연오렌지색이다. 꽃가루는 불임이다. 꽃의 주년재배를 위해서는 -1.5℃에 구근을 동결 저장하여 정식시기를 달리하여 활용할 수 있다. 다습시기에는 잎마름병의 철저한 방제가 필요하다.

농촌진흥청 원예특작과학원에서는 2008년에 진한 자주색의 수출용 중 대형품종을 육성할 목적으로 1995년에 진자주색계 중형종 C. Miake'Pieta'와 중형종 진분홍색계 'Allstar Mariane' 품종을 교배하여 진자주색계 '퍼플스타'Cymbidium 'Purple Star' 신품종을 개발하였다. 1996년부터 2007년까지 종자기내파종, 온실양성, 선발 그리고 특성검정으로 균일성, 안정성, 화색, 화수, 엽형 등이 우수하여 2008년 12월

Genetic diversity among 28 Cymbidium varieties was evaluated by using a sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) marker system. The SRAP marker which was based on the open reading frames (ORFs) regions was developed primarily for Brassica species, but has been applied to various crops. A total of 30 SRAP primer combinations were initially screened. Twenty-eight SRAP primer combinations showed high polymorphism among the 28 Cymbidium varieties, which were consisted of breeding varieties and their parents in National Institute of Horticultural & Herbal Science (NIHHS). The amplified DNA fragments were separated by denaturing acrylamide gels and detected silver staining method. One hundred ninety six polymorphic bands (7 per primer) were generated and ranged from 0.3 to 1.0 kb in size. Polymorphic fragments were scored for calculating simple matching coefficient of genetic similarity and cluster analysis with multi-variate statistical package (MVSP) 3.1. The mean genetic similarity coefficient value was 0.588. The results showed that the correlation between F1 varieties and their parents was high. These studied SRAP markers will be useful tools for genotype identification, germplasm conservation, genetic relationships in Cymbidium.

A new spray chrysanthemum cultivar ‘Prima Donna’ was released by National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA), in 2008. The cross was made between ‘Plano’ and ‘Yeonja’ in 2005. Trials were conducted from 2006 to 2008 for the evaluation and selection of this cultivar, including shading cultures in summer and retarding cultures in spring. The natural flowering time of ‘Prima Donna’ is late October, but year-round flowering is possible by photo-periodic control. The cultivar has single type flowers with pink petals, green center and good inflorescence. The growth of plant is very vigorous. The diameter of flower is 7.0cm. The number of flowers per stem and petals per flower are 13 and 42, respectively. Days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 59 and its vase life is 26.1 days in autumn season.

A new gerbera variety "Pink Swan" was released by the National Horticultural Research Institute (NHRI) in 2007. A cross was made between "Royal" with orange and single and 'Himalaya' with white and semi-double in 2004. After investigation of the characteristics for 4 years (from 2004 to 2007), it was selected specially for the use of cut-flower. "Pink Swan" is a vigorous medium-sized cultivar with pink (RHS R48D), yellow green center and semi-double. The average flower diameter is 10.6 cm. And inner ray floret and disc diameter is 5.99cm and 1.83cm, respectively. It produces a large yield with continuous supply of flowers and has adequate peduncle height. We believe that "Pink Swan" has a great potential for expanding cultivated area of domestic gerbera cultivar and increasing farmers-income.

A New Cymbidium variety "Yellow Evening" was developed from a cross between "Oji" and "Valley Flower Cherry Life" followed by seedling and line selections at the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) in 2004. After investigation of the characteristics and selection for 9 years (1996-2004), it has been selected specifically pot orchid flower. "Yellow Evening" has medium plant height and semi-erect peduncle. It has medium flowering habit and brownish yellow flowers (RHS, Y11B: petal and sepal) with grayed purple GP183A) spot on lip, when fully opened. Each peduncle has 15.3 flowers with diameter of about 7.4 cm. It has adequate peduncle height, with some curved and spreading petal and sepals. Under optical culture conditions, it started to bloom early-winter (November).

The cultivar has single type flowers with pure white petals and a green flower center. It shows long vase life and resistance to white rust. The diameter of flower is 52.5 mm. The numbers of flowers per stem and petals per flower are 12 and 22.5, respectively. Days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 52 days in spring seasons.

　‘eeun’an Asiatic hybrid lily was released in 2005 at National Horticultural Research Institute (NHRI), Rural Development Administration (RDA), Suwon, Korea. The cross was made in 1994 between Liliium Asiatic ‘hite Bird’white colored, and Liliium Asiatic ‘ote d’zur’ pink colored variety. It was preliminarily selected as ‘96-5’in 1996. Multiplication and bulbing, and characteristic tests were conducted from 1997 to 2004. The evaluation of characteristics was investigated as ‘ongyo C1-21’ in 2004 at Suwon. ‘eeun’flowers in the end of June and grows 41.6 cm stem length. Flowers are upward-facing, unspotted in petals and yellow green (RHS, 18C). Year-round flowering can be by storing the bulb under -1.5℃ conditions. For forcing culture, it is necessary to add calcium to the fertilizer or remove side scales to prevent leaf scorch. It is needed to control Botrytis disease in wet season.
