Fine structures on a plant leaf, such as trichomes or leaf domatia, are considered to affect plant mite community. However, so far, few empirical studies has determined mite fauna and its seasonal dynamics on plants bearing such fine structures on leaf surface. Viburnum erosum var. punctatum is a deciduous shrub, which has dense stellate hairs and hair tufts (domatia) on the abaxial surface of leaf. In this study, to determine the effects of such structures on fauna of leaf mites, we investigated seasonal dynamics of leaf mites on V. erosum in comparison with those on the other 13 tree or shrub species in secondary forests in Kyoto, the central part of Japan. Some mites remained on V. erosum leaves all over the season, with the density of all mite species reaching the maximum, 39.5 individuals per leaf, in June. The density on V. erosum was 10 times higher than on the other target plant species. Phytoseiid mites belonging to Phytoseius stably occurred for most seasons, from May to October, and the density reached the maximum, 2.2 individuals per leaf, in July. Mites of Tydeoidea and Astigmata were frequently observed in the leaf domatia of V. erosum, whereas they were rarely observed on the other plant species. These results indicate that V. erosum harbor more unique and more abundant mite community on its leaf surface, compared to its sympatric tree and shrub species.

We developed the copper core ball electroplated with Sn-Ag-Cu of the eutectic composition which used mostly as Pb free solder ball with high reliability. In order to search for the practicality of this developed copper core ball, the evaluation was executed by measuring the initial joint strength of the sample mounted on the substrate and reflowed and by measuring the joint strength of the sample after the high temperature leaving test and the constant temperature and the humidity leaving test. This evaluation was compered with those of the usual other copper core balls electroplated with (Sn,Sn-Ag,Sn-Cu,Sn-Bi) and the Sn-Ag-Cu solder ball.

Recently warm compaction techniques are focused on and commercialization of one high-density compaction process in the P/M industry. Another development is a new SEGLESS using a developed lubricant that reduces ejection force at room temperature compaction. It is possible to achieve high-density by reducing lubricant amount. In this paper we confirmed that green density was 7.35 g/cm3 at 686MPa of compaction pressure when the new SEGLESS was applied to relatively lower temperature warm compaction process, such as 80℃.

Mechanisms that regulate the number of cells that constitute the body have remained largely elusive. We approached this issue in the ascidian, Halocynthia roretzi, which develops into tadpole larva with small number of cells. Embryonic cells divide 11 times on average from fertilization to hatching. The number of cell division rounds varies between tissue types. For example, notochord cells divide 9 times and give rise to large postmitotic cells in the tadpole. The number of cell division rounds in the partial embryos that were derived from tissue-precursor blastomeres isolated at the 64-cell stage also varied between tissues, and coincided with their counterparts in the intact whole embryos to some extent, suggesting tissueautonomous regulation of cell division. Manipulation of cell fates in notochord, nerve cord, muscle, and mesenchyme lineage cells by inhibition or ectopic activation of the inductive FGF signal changed the number of cell division according to the altered fate. Knockdown and missexpression of Brachyury (Bra), an FGF-induced notochord-specific key transcription factor for notochord differentiation, indicated that Bra is responsible not only for notochord differentiation but also regulates the number of cell division rounds in the notochord lineage cells, suggesting that Bra activates a putative machinery to stop cell division at the specific stage. Results of precocious expression of Bra suggested that the machinery refers the developmental clock that is likely shared in other blastomeres than notochord, and functions to terminate cell division at three rounds after the 64-cell stage. Bra does nothing about the progression of developmental clock itself.
