There is an increasing incidence in health problems related to environmental issues that originate from inadequate treatment of sewage. This has compelled scientists to engage in innovative technologies to achieve a effective disinfection process. Electrolysis has emerged as one of the more feasible alternatives to conventional disinfection process. The objectives of the present paper were to investigate the effect of chemical characteristics on oxidant formation and Escherichia coli (E. coli) disinfection in synthetic sewage effluents. The influence of parameters such as COD, SS, T-N and T-P were investigated using laboratory scale batch reactor. The results showed that the higher COD, T-N and T-P concentration, the lower N, N-Dimethyl-4-nitrosoaniline (RNO, indicator of the generation of OH radical) degradation and E. coli disinfection was observed. The order of effect of RNO degradation and E. coli disinfection was T-P > COD > T-N > SS. When 4 parameter of water quality were worked simultaneously, oxidants formation and disinfection was decreased with increase of the concentration of sewage. To increase of the disinfection performance, the increase of disinfection time or electric power was need.

The covered stream of cities are considered an odor source. Also, the public do not want a wastewater treatment plant(WWTP) near their properties due to the emission of odor emanating from such sources, although they play an important role in urban development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the pattern distribution of the odorous compounds from the Nambu WWTP and Youngho stream in Busan. odor sampled four times were analyzed by instrumental analysis method and indirect olfactory method. The kinds of offensive odorous compounds examined are acetaldehyde, propion aldehyde, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide and ammonia. Also, Concentration of air pollutants has been calculated by ISCST3 models. At the result of this study, The Nambu WWTP releases sulfur compounds. And the major odorous were hydrogen sulfide (1,475 ppb) and acetaldehyde (95 ppb) at Youngho stream. The stink which residents feel will point out the Nambu WWTP mainly if the odor is removed with the improvement of a Youngho stream. Accordingly, we should pay more attention to appropriate components to processes in odor reducing plan at Nambu WWTP.

The objectives of this research are to investigate the proper coagulation conditions which are a type and doses of coagulants, mixing conditions (velocity gradients and mixing times), pH and so on through Jar-test, to evaluate the flux variations, permeate, backwashing according to characteristics of pretreatment of the wastewater by means of MF membranes for river maintenance water reuse. The effluent water from B-city K-sewage treatment plant are used for this research. Turbidity and suspended solids(SS) are 14.2 NTU and 10.4 mg/L respectively. This condition causes fouling for membrane process. The flux decline could be reduced when coagulation pretreatment was carried out. Optimal coagulations PAC which are commonly used in the sewage treatment plant was observed in this research. The results indicate that an optimal coagulation dose and pH are 80 ppm and pH of 7 respectively, but coagulation efficiency was lower at strong acid or strong base. Results showed that continuous and steady operations in membrane separation process by means of the effective removal of organic matter and turbidity with coagulation pretreatment of sewage secondary effluent were achieved.
