        The corrosion is one of the main causes of cable damages. The use of dehumidification system can be an alternative for this issue. Therefore, the authors have been evaluated for efficiency of the cable dehumidification system for the main cables of a suspension bridge. This study was initiated to develop an efficient and economical management strategy to operate the cable dehumidification system for suspension bridges built in the coastal region of South Korea.

        A fatigue crack occurred in the vicinity of the suspension bridge`s center-stay area is generated. Therefore, the stress and caused of occurrence of each member are analyzed by measurement. When similar cases occur in the future, they shall be utilized as basic data such as research methods and establishment of measures for maintenance.

        현수교 주 케이블은 케이블 밴드의 볼트 축력에 대한 정기적인 유지 관리가 매우 중요하다. 현수교 케이블 밴드의 볼트 축력은 시간이 경과함에 따라 케이블 소선의 크리프 현상, 볼트의 릴렉세이션, 하중 변동, 케이블 소선의 재배열 등으로 인해 축력 감소 현상이 발생하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 국내 현수 교량(SR대교)의 케이블 밴드가 시간이 경과하면서 발생하는 축력 감소 현상에 대해 그 원인 및 감소량 등에 대한 현장 측정 및 이론적 검토, 안전율 검토, 장기적인 이력 관리 등을 수행하였다. 그 결과, 케이블 밴드 볼트 축력 감소는 주 케이블 소선에 사용된 아연 도금층의 소성 변형에 크게 영향받는 것을 확인하였으며, 이에 대한 이론적 체계 및 장기 이력 관리에 대한 적용성을 확립하였다.

        For suspension bridges, the super-structure is supported by main cables and hangers which carry the dead and live loads to the pylons and anchorages. Due to the fact that the difficultly of repair and strengthening for damaged cables, it is very important to find an efficient way of maintenance methods for cables. As a result of analysis, the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable, strain, was found to be .304 for light and compact car traffic, .476 for large and special car traffic and .167 for the average temperature of reinforced truss

        Suspension bridge, one of the long span bridge type, is vulnerable to wind load. To analysis effect of wind load, this paper peformed 2D analysis for suspension bridge. Numerical model is consisted suspension bridge cross section and two nonlinear hanger cable. Suspension bridge cross section has mass and torsional resistance. Nonlinear hanger cable stiffness is bigger as displacement larger. This paper compare w/ torsional resistance model and w/o torsional resistance model. Analysis results show that w/o consider cross section torsional resistance is likely to overestimate structure response.

        The suspension bridge’s main cable requires regular checks for the decrease on the axial forces of the cable band bolts. In this paper, basic concepts are presented for the approach on the management of cable band bolts in suspension bridges. In additions, the reasons for the decrease of axial forces are investigated with various aspects and some measurement methods for the axial forces are presented as well.

        In this study, dynamic behavior of suspension bridge was evaluated under moving truck and lane load specified in the Korean limit state design code. The essential parameters affecting dynamic behaviour of bridges, i.e., road surface roughness and vehicle speed were considered. The road surface roughness was randomly generated based on ISO 8608 and the vehicle speed was considered 60~120 km/h. 3-D finite element model for the selected suspension bridge was constructed and Newmark’s direct integration method was used for bridge-vehicle interaction analysis.

        The sensors currently installed for bridge monitoring are faced with limitations in terms of the application and effectiveness of such systems in current long sized bridges, which are developing rapidly in terms of both size and function. Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) has been noted as an only way to overcome the limitations of such sensors.
