        they joined an English camp in Ireland with European students for one month. Both quantitative and qualitative methods were applied to examine learners' English proficiency and English anxiety. TOEIC Bridge was a tool for investigating students' English proficiency. In addition, adapted version of Gardner's 7 scale AMTB (Attitude/Motivation Test Battery) demonstrated the change of learners' language class anxiety and language use anxiety. The data were analyzed by Repeated Measure. Furthermore, field notes and an interview corroborated the quantified results of proficiency and anxiety. It is shown that most participants' English proficiency in listening and reading comprehension has dramatically improved after staying in Ireland while their English classroom anxiety and English use anxiety highly diminished. Lastly, this study searched the key elements of the English camp which made the camp successful to apply to the Korean domestic English curriculum.

        The 21st Century Frontier Program, which is one of the R&D programs funded by Korean government, was launched in 1999 to elevate the status of Korean science and engineering capabilities to the advanced nation in the strategic fields. Currently, 23 different fields of science and engineering programs are carried out by researchers in institutes, universities and industries. Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) was formulated in 2001 to develop the advanced materials as well as to improve the parts manufacturing process. The main role of CAMP is proposing and forecasting the long term vision in Materials Processing Technology and also supporting the project teams for their best performance in R&D. The CAMP program consists of 5 research areas such as, Multi-layer Ceramic Electronic Parts, Powder Formed Precision Parts, 3 Dimensional Polymer Based Composites, Functional Metal Sheets, Parts Integration Technology. An introduction of R & D activities at CAMP, specially focusing on powder metallurgy, will be presented.

        Osteoclasts are multinucleated cells with bone resorbing activity and differentiated from hematopoietic cell lineages of monocyte/macrophages in the presence of receptor activator of NF-xB ligand (RANKL) and M-CSF. However, the exact molecular mechanisms through which RANKL stimulates osteoclastogenesis remain to be elucidated. Here we report that activation of cAMP-response elementbinding protein (CREB) is not involved in osteoclastogenesis from osteoclast precursors in response to RANKL. RANKL induced CREB activation in osteoclast precursors. Using pharmacological inhibitors, we found that RANKL-induced CREB activation is dependent on p38 MAPK pathways. We also found that ectopic expressions of wild type and dominant negative forms of CREB in osteoclast precursors did not affect RANKL-induced osteoclast formation and bone resorbing activity. Furthermore, dominant negative forms of CREB did not alter the expression levels of osteoclast-specific marker genes. Taken together, these data suggest that CREB is dispensable for differentiation and resorbing activity of osteoclasts.

        본 연구는 2019년 메트로폴리탄 뮤지엄 전시와 멧 갈라에서 제안한 대표 키워드인 수잔 손택의 ‘캠프’의 관점에서 현대 패션의 유행 현상을 포토그래퍼 팀 워커의 패션사진을 통해서 그 특성과 의의를 살펴보았다. 연구의 목적은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 수잔 손택의 캠프와 팀 워커의 패션사진에 관한 이론적 고찰을 통해 연구 방법론을 모색한다. 둘째, 패션에 있어 캠프의 주요 의미를 규정하고, 그에 따라 팀 워커의 패션사진을 유형화한다. 셋째, 캠프의 관점에서 팀 워커 패션사진의 특성을 도출한다. 이에 따른 연구 결과는, 첫째, 수잔 손택의 캠프는 동시대 패션의 유행 현상을 이해하는 연구 관점이자 방법론으로의 적용은 타당한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 팀 워커의 패션사진은 캠프의 인공적인, 중성적인, 유머러스한으로 유형화 될 수 있었다. 셋째, 수잔 손택의 캠프 관점에서 팀 워커의 패션사진은 초현실적인 스토리텔링, 뉴트럴, 가벼움의 특성으로 도출되었다. 현대 패션에 나타나는 다양한 유행 현상을 이해하기 위한 연구 관점으로 수잔 손택의 캠프와 패션의 표현 매체로서 패션사진의 연구를 통해서 도출된 결론은 인공적인-초현실적 스토리텔링, 중성적인-뉴트럴, 유머러스한-가벼움으로 관련 후속 연구의 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

        Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (HIRI) is linked with high mortality rate. Several agents have been developed so far to reduce the risk of HIRI. In this study, we investigated the effects of Acanthopanax senticosus extract (AS) on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion. To explore the protective effects of A. senticosus extract injection (ASI) on hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury rats animal model were used. After the development of HIRI by using clamping method rats were then randomly divided into five groups. Different doses of AS were administered in HIRI rat model. The level of ALT, AST, and MDA content in serum were detected in sham and HIRI groups. The activity of SOD, MPO and Ca2+-ATPase, content of MDA, and cAMP in hepatic tissue were also measured. Expression of Bcl-2 and Bax protein were detected by immunohistochemical staining method. Compared with sham group, ASI has the protective effect on the HIRI model in rats. Blood levels of ALT, AST, SOD, MPO, and MDA were significantly lower in ASI group compared with HIRI. Indeed SOD and Ca2+-ATPase activities, MDA content, and cAMP level were improved in ASI group. Furthermore, Bcl-2 and Bax protein were improved in ASI group compared with only HIRI group. These results suggest that AS may provide potential ameliorative therapy by inhibiting the damage signaling mechanism in hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury model.
