        Getter property of nano-sized metallic powders was evaluated as a possible candidate for the future getter material. For the purpose, Ti powders of about 50 nm were prepared by electrical wire explosion. Commercial Ti powders of about 22 micrometer were tested as well for comparison. The room-temperature hydrogen-sorption speed of nano-sized Ti powders was which was more than 4 times higher than that of micron-sized ones. The value is comparable to or even higher than those of commercial products. Its sorption speed increases with activation temperature up to above which it deteriorates due to low-temperature sintering effect of nano-sized particles.

        Oridinal thermal spray process has developed into two ways, namely, temperature dominated represented by plasma spraying, and velocity dominated represented by HVOF. It is common for both that the particle materials sprayed are basically in melted or half melted condition. New process has developed recently, that is, Cold Spray and Aerosol Deposition. Particle's heating is limited in CS lower than half of the material's melting point. Moreover, exactly no heating is loaded in AD process. Through the investigation on common feature for these three spraying processes, potential of new material process - Particle Deposition, PD - is considered and proposed

        The development of Micro MIM as a new manufacturing process for metallic micro parts made of advanced functional materials has been the subject of considerable research over the last years. This paper addresses important quality aspects on processing of new materials by Micro-MIM. Three examples of new functional materials that can be processed are reviewed in this paper. The first example is two-component-Micro-MIM to obtain multi-functional devices. A micro positioning encoder consisting of a magnetic / non-magnetic material combination is presented. The second issue is series production of the replicate of the smallest human bone in the ear (stapes) from Titanium as an example of medical application. Quality assurance and reproducibility in terms of injection moulding parameters are addressed. In the third part, first results on the processing of the shape memory alloy NiTi by Micro-MIM are presented. Potential applications include biocompatible devices and transportation, for example automotive and aerospace. Processing routes and initial microstructures obtained are discussed.

        Coefficient of friction of PTFE is used as a typical friction material of friction-type seismic isolation devices. Coefficient of friction of PTFE is decreased with increasing the contact stress, and increased with increasing the horizontal movement speed. To understand the caracteristics of new friction material, using EDS, the seismic isolation device, applying new friction material, studying the changes in the friction coefficient with various shear characteristics.

        The objective of this study is to investigate the seismic performance of hybrid coupled shear wall connection with new toughness material, pseudo strain hardening cementitious composites (PSH2C). Test variable of this study is the embedment length of steel coupling in connection region. The results showed that Specimen PSH2C-ST with longer embedment length of steel coupling beam exhibits good seismic performance than Specimen PSH2C-STE.

        Fiber reinforced plastics (FRP) have been widely used because of their high specific strength, high specific stiffness and etc. Although these kinds of FRP have various merits in applications, it has been had one of the complicated problems to manufacture their wooden mold. For these reasons, the simple methods to manufacture the mold required in the FRP industries. To improve these kinds of problems, the molding system using composite materials was developed. By this new manufacturing techniques and high functional FRP composite mold was built. Comparing with wooden mold, the process efficiencies of frame manufacturing process and inner mold manufacturing process were improved approximately 40% and 70%, respectively.
