        Resistance development in insect pests against pesticides is one of the most important issues for pest management. Biological control is an attractive strategy for suppressing insects that have become resistant to chemical pesticides. The smaller tea tortrix Adoxophyes honmai (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae) is a serious pest of tea and has acquired resistance to various chemical pesticides, and baculovirus agents have been developed to control this pest in Japan. However, there was great concern about whether A. honmai might also acquire resistance against baculoviruses. To address this question, we developed a model resistant population and studied the mechanism of resistance in A. honmai against baculoviruses. A population of A. honmai that is resistant to nucleopolyhedrovirus (NPV) was selected by exposing a field-collected A. honmai population to the 70% lethal concentration (LC70) of NPV over multiple generations in the laboratory. After 155 generations, the selected strain (Resistant strain; R-strain) showed over 400,000-fold higher resistance to AdhoNPV than the non-selected strain (Susceptible strain; S-strain). In this presentation, mode of resistance of R-strain against baculoviruses were discussed.

        In fire design for floors, the three criteria of stability, integrity and insulation are required for the specified fire resistance duration. Among these, stability is not easy to confirm. For solid prestressed concrete slabs of uniform thickness, Eurocode 2 provides tabulated data and specifies an axis distance to the centroid of strands to achieve particular fire resistance ratings, but it is not clear if this data can be used for a wide range of different prestressed slab profiles. In order to verify the current code-fire ratings for precast prestressed slabs, both simple and advanced calculation methods are investigated. This paper examines the use of calculation methods, accounting for the real behaviour of unprotected simply supported prestressed concrete slabs exposed to the standard ISO 834 fire. The calculated fire resistance of each prestressed concrete slab is compared with tabulated data in Eurocode part 1.2, with detailed discussion.

        Structures of steel frame buildings getting vary depending on the development of construction technology. H-beam has been proposed a non-load test specifications in the relevant regulations, its scope of accreditation to be granted without limitation of size H-beams from the performance of the test specification. However, in the case of the rectangular steel structure is to check its performance and to a separate one of the receive acknowledge and so take advantage of the cross-sectional shape factor in this study to test the performance of the fire-resistant structure proposed for standard test specimen.

        폴리드나바이러스(polydnavirus: PDV)는 일부 내부기생봉에 공생하는 이중나선형 DNA 바이러스 분류군이다. Cotesia plutellae bracovirus (CpBV)는 프루텔고치벌(C. plutellae)에 공생하는 일종의 PDV이다. 프루텔고치벌은 어린 배추좀나방(Plutella xylostella) 유충에 기 생한다. 기생 초기에 발현하는 CpBV-ELP1 유전자는 혈구세포에 세포독성을 발휘하면서 기주의 세포성 면역을 억제하여 기생에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 본 연구는 이 유전자를 담배 식물에서 발현하여 해충에 대한 경구독성을 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 재조합 CpBV-ELP1 단백질 이 배큘로바이러스 발현시스템을 통해 합성되어 세포배양액에 분비되었다. 수거된 세포배양액은 일련의 단백질 분리과정(ammonium sulfate 단백질 분획, size exclusion 크로마토그래피, 이온교환 크로마토그래피)을 통해 CpBV-ELP1 단백질을 분리하는 데 이용되었다. 분리된 rCpBV-ELP1 단백질은 파밤나방(Spodoptera exigua) 혈구에 대한 뚜렷한 세포독성을 보였다. CpBV-ELP1은 파밤나방 5령충에 대해서 혈강 주입하여 살충력을 나타냈고, 엽침지법을 이용하여 경구독성을 갖고 있는 것을 확인하였다. CpBV-ELP1 유전자를 CaMV 35S 유전자 프로모터 와 opaline synthase 유전자 전사종결신호를 갖는 pBI121 벡터에 클로닝하여 Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404 세균에 형질전환을 유도하였 다. 형질전환된 세균은 담배(Nicotiana tabacum Xanthi)잎에 감염하여 캘러스를 유도하게 하였고 이후 차세대(T1)를 확보하였다. T1 세대 담배 는 파밤나방에 대한 해충저항성을 갖고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 CpBV-ELP1 유전자가 형질전환작물을 통해 해충방제에 응용될 수 있 다는 것을 제시하고 있다.

        In this study, electric propulsion leisure boat with 9 meters length is designed and the performances are investigated by CFD analysis and model test. Maximum speed of the developed boat is 15knots(7.7 m/s) using 80Kw electric motor. Catamanan type hull form with slender body is adopted considering high Froude number and large deck area. Two kinds of hull forms are designed and the performances are compared in resistance point of view. Wave patterns are observed to make clear the relationship between resistance performance and wave characteristics. The results show that not only wave interaction due to shoulder waves but also stern waves have a strong influence on resistance performance and CFD analysis including free surface can give useful informations at initial ship design stage for high Froude number catamaran boat.

        OBJECTIVES : The objective of this research is to determine the moisture resistance of the freeze-thaw process occurring in low-noise porous pavement using either hydrated-lime or anti-freezing agent. Various additives were applied to low-noise porous asphalt, which is actively paved in South Korea, to overcome its disadvantages. Moreover, the optimum contents of hydrated-lime and anti-freezing agent and behavior properties of low-noise porous asphalt layer are determined using dynamic moduli via the freeze-thaw test. METHODS: The low-noise porous asphalt mixtures were made using gyratory compacters to investigate its properties with either hydratedlime or anti-freezing agent. To determine the dynamic moduli of each mixture, impact resonance test was conducted. The applied standard for the freeze-thaw test of asphalt mixture is ASTM D 6857. The freeze-thaw and impact resonance tests were performed twice at each stage. The behavior properties were defined using finite element method, which was performed using the dynamic modulus data obtained from the freezethaw test and resonance frequencies obtained from non-destructive impact test. RESULTS: The results show that the coherence and strength of the low-noise porous asphalt mixture decreased continuously with the increase in the temperature of the mixture. The dynamic modulus of the normal low-noise porous asphalt mixture dramatically decreased after one cycle of freezing and thawing stages, which is more than that of other mixtures containing additives. The damage rate was higher when the freeze-thaw test was repeated. CONCLUSIONS : From the root mean squared error (RMSE) and mean percentage error (MPE) analyses, the addition rates of 1.5% hydrated-lime and 0.5% anti-freezing agent resulted in the strongest mixture having the highest moisture resistance compared to other specimens with each additive in 1 cycle freeze-thaw test. Moreover, the freeze-thaw resistance significantly improved when a hydrated-lime content of 0.5% was applied for the two cycles of the freeze-thaw test. Hence, the optimum contents of both hydrated-lime and anti-freezing agent are 0.5%.

        본 연구에서는 카누 선체 재료를 탄소섬유복합재료로 선정하였으며, 선형설계는 선박 설계 상용프로그램인 SOLIDWORKS를 이용하여 수행하였다. 카누의 유동해석은 상용프로그램인 STAR-CCM+를 이용하여 자유수면의 파형을 살펴보고 수치해석 결과를 통하여 저항성능을 확인하였다. 그 결과, 흘수가 0.09 m일 경우에 4 m/s 미만의 선속으로, 흘수가 0.24 m인 경우에는 2 m/s 미만으로 운항하면 안전하다고 판단되며, 두 명의 성인이 속도를 내는 데에도 무리가 없음을 확인하였다. 또한, 해석결과를 적용하고 CFRP를 이용하여, 기존의 재료보다 20 % 가볍게 제작된 카누에 대해서도 간략히 소개하였다.

        Fusarium wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lagenariae is a destructive disease in cultivation of watermelon worldwide. This study was carried out to screen resistant lines to Fusarium wilt and to confirm resistant level of F1 hybrids derived from resistant lines by seedling test in bottle gourd to develop watermelon root stock. Symtpoms of bottle gourd seedlings infected by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lagenariae were netted yellowing on the lowest leaves as the initial symptom and then progressed to shrinking of leaves and brown lesions just above the groundline and went to complete death. As a results of resistance screening by seedling test, four lines (71, 963385, BG710, IT210520) and two F1 hybrids (BG703 × FR79 and BG703 × PFR11) were selected for Fusarium wilt resistance. Four lines can be used as parental lines to produce F1 hybrid rootstock for watermelon. Genetic factors of resistance between parental lines and their F1 hybrids were not clear. It seems that several genes were involved or there was gene interaction. However, genetic analysis will be needed for clear confirmation of genetic aspects on disease resistance using their F2 population. Moreover, parental lines shoud be carefully selected in order to develop highly resistant F1 hybrids because resistance level of F1 hybrids vary according to the combination of parents. This study confirmed the possibility of developing high-resistant watermelon root stocks using bottle gourd.

        There are studies on the assessment of non-edible transgenic plants on soil microbial communities. In this research we evaluated the effect of virus-resistant trigonal cactus on soil microbial communities of the rhizosphere. Soil samples are collected and compared in genetically modified (GM) and non-GM trigonal cactus cultivation fields during vegetative growth period and post-harvest period. Biolog EcoplateTM was used to evaluate the functional diversity of soil microbial communities. There were no significant differences between the GM and non-GM soil samples collected during the vegetative growth period. However, we observed temporary difference in carbon substrate utilization. Principal component analysis showed that soil microbiota was influenced not by presence of GM or non-GM trigonal cacti, but rather by the cultivation period. Denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis fingerprinting revealed that virus-resistant trigonal cactus cultivation had insignificant effect on soil microbial communities including dominant rhizosphere bacteria, actinomycetes, and fungi. We found no clear evidence of GM trigonal cactus cultivation affecting the functional diversity of soil microbial communities.

        This report offers an economically reasonable seismic reinforcement to non-seismic mid/low reinforced concrete structures. Installed a slit in between the reinforced concrete frame and masonry infilled wall then inserted twist bar to prevent inversion and attached to the lower/upper beam. Confirmed the seismic reinforcement effect through static loading test. Total of 4 specimens were produced for the test, a masonry infilled wall without seismic reinforcement and with seismic slit or twist bar applied. As a result, applying the seismic slit and twisted bar was economically reasonable and seismic reinforcement effect was confirmed by showing stable failure, increase of maximum strength and yield displacement, increase of accumulated energy dissipation.

        SLIM AU(A plus U-shaped) composite beam was developed for reducing the story height in the residential buildings, and saving the cosrtuction cost of floor structures. Structural performance and economic feasibility of the composite beam have been sufficiently approved through the structural experiments and the analytical studies. However, the verification for fire safety is necessary for the practical application of the composite beam. The fire resistance tests with and without loading were performed for the fire safety verification, and the test results were summarized in this paper.

        Background: The functioning of the serratus anterior (SA) muscle is essential to normal scapulohumeral rhythm during forward flexion (FF) of the shoulder. Also, SA weakness and overuse of the upper trapezius (UT) is observed in patients with shoulder dysfunction and trapezius myalgia. We designed a combination exercise involving FF and scapular protraction with resistance (CFFSP) to activate the SA muscle and to deactivate the UT muscle. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not CFFSP would be more effective in activating the SA muscle than FF alone and FF with scapular protraction (FFP). Methods: Nineteen subjects (12 men and 7 women) participated in this study and performed FF, FFP, and CFFSP at 120°. Surface electromyography was applied to the SA, UT, and pectoralis major (PM) muscles, as was one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) with repeated measures. Statistical significance was set at .05. Bonferroni adjustment was used to counteract the problem of multiple comparisons, with a statistical level of significance of .017 (.05/3). Results: A statistically significant difference was found in relation to the three positions for the SA muscle (p<.001) and the SA/UT ratio (p=.005) using ANOVA. Significantly different results, depending on the position, were also demonstrated using the Bonferroni post-hoc test for the SA muscle (FF=28.27±16.20, FFP=45.66±15.81, and CFFSP=62.4±27.21) and for the SA/UT ratio (FF=3.04±2.14, FFP=3.61±2.38, and CFFSP=5.95±3.01). Significant differences between the three positions was not found regarding the average amplitude of SA/PM muscle ratio (SA/PM: p=.060). Conclusion: We recommend the use of CFFSP to strengthen the SA muscle at 120°.

        습식제련 공정은 대부분 황화광석을 원료로 하기 때문에 제련 과정 중 황산 농도 2~15 wt%의 불순물을 함유한 폐 황산이 발생하게 된다. 발생하는 폐 황 산에는 다양한 희소금속들이 포함되어 있으나, 현재 공정수에서 희소금속 처리 기술부족으로 중화되어 폐기되고 있다. 이 과정에서 막분리 공정을 적용할 경우 희소금속을 친환경적이면서 효율적으로 회수할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 폴리아 미드 계면중합을 위하여 다공성 지지막 위에 방향족 아민모노머와 트리메조일 클로라이드를 사용하여 산에 안정한 폴리아미드 나노여과막을 제조하였고, 제조 된 막의 투과분리 성능에 대하여 살펴보았다. 그리고 제조된 분리막이 내산성을 가지는지 평가하기 위하여 15 wt%의 황산용액에 침지하여 일별 투과수량 및 이온제거율을 측정하였다.

        본 연구에서는 제련 공정에서 발생하는 희소금속을 함유한 폐산용액을 효율 적/경제적으로 회수하기 위해 부식 억제 특성을 가진 지방족 아민(Aliphatic Amine)를 첨가제로 사용하여 내산성이 향상된 복합 NF 분리막을 제조하고자 한다. 지방족 아민를 첨가한 내산성 NF 분리막은 다공성 지지막 위에 polyamide 계면중합법을 이용하여 제조하였고 제조한 내산성 NF 분리막은 15 wt% 황산에 노출한 후, 75psi 압력의 cross-flow 방식으로 내산성 투과실험을 진행한 결과를 flux와 rejection을 통해 확인하였다. 또한 XPS, FE-SEM, ATR-FTIR 등을 통해 제조된 막의 특성을 분석하였다.
