        사용후핵연료 파이로프로세싱에서는 방사성 희토류 염화물(RECl3)을 함유한 LiCl-KCl 공융염폐기물이 발생되며, 핫셀시설에서 운영을 목적으로 단순한 형태의 공융염폐기물 처리공정을 개발하는 것이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는, LiCl-KCl 공융염폐기물 내 희토류 핵종 분리/고화공정의 단순화를 목적으로 Li2O-Al2O3-SiO2-B2O3계의 무기합성매질을 이용하여 LiCl-KCl 공융 염 내 희토류 핵종(Nd)을 분리한 후 분리생성물을 바로 고화하는 시험을 실시하였다. 공융염 내 희토류 염화물(NdCl3) 대비 0.67의 무게비에 해당하는 무기합성매질의 양으로도 Nd 핵종을 98wt% 이상 분리할 수 있었고, 이 때 얻은 희토류 핵종 포집생성물은 약 50wt% 수준의 희토류 산화물 함량을 보유하고 있었으며, 이 포집생성물을 화학적 내구성이 우수한 단일상의 균질한 유리고화체로 제조할 수 있었다. 이 결과들은 LiCl-KCl 공융염폐기물 내 희토류 핵종의 분리/고화공정을 단순화하기 위한 방안수립에 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

        Neodymium-iron-boron (Nd-Fe-B) sintered magnets have excellent magnetic properties such as the remanence, coercive force, and the maximum energy product compared to other hard magnetic materials. The coercive force of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets is improved by the addition of heavy rare earth elements such as dysprosium and terbium instead of neodymium. Then, the magnetocrystalline anisotropy of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets increases. However, additional elements have increased the production cost of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets. Hence, a study on the control of the microstructure of Nd-Fe-B magnets is being conducted. As the coercive force of magnets improves, the grain size of the Nd2Fe14B grain is close to 300 nm because they are nucleation-type magnets. In this study, fine particles of Nd-Fe-B are prepared with various grinding energies in the pulverization process used for preparing sintered magnets, and the microstructure and magnetic properties of the magnets are investigated.

        Recently, the grain boundary diffusion process (GBDP), involving heavy rare-earth elements such as Dy and Tb, has been widely used to enhance the coercivity of Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets. For example, a Dy compound is coated onto the surface of Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets, and then the magnets are heat treated. Subsequently, Dy diffuses into the grain boundaries of Nd-Fe-B magnets, forming Dy-Fe-B or Nd-Dy-Fe-B. The dip-coating process is also used widely instead of the GBDP. However, it is quite hard to control the thickness uniformity using dip coating. In this study, first, a DyF3 paste is fabricated using DyF3 powder. Subsequently, the fabricated DyF3 paste is homogeneously coated onto the surface of a Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet. The magnet is then subjected to GBDP to enhance its coercivity. The weight ratio of binder and DyF3 powder is controlled, and we find that the coercivity enhances with decreasing binder content. In addition, the maximum coercivity is obtained with the paste containing 70 wt% of DyF3 powder.

        We investigate the microstructural and magnetic property changes of DyH2, Cu + DyH2, and Al + DyH2 diffusion-treated NdFeB sintered magnets with the post annealing (PA) temperature. The coercivity of all the diffusiontreated magnets increases with increasing heat treatment temperature except at 910oC, where it decreases slightly. Moreover, at 880oC, the coercivity increases by 3.8 kOe in Cu and 4.7 kOe in Al-mixed DyH2-coated magnets, whereas this increase is relatively low (3.0 kOe) in the magnet coated with only DyH2. Both Cu and Al have an almost similar effect on the coercivity improvement, particularly over the heat treatment temperature range of 790-880oC. The diffusivity and diffusion depth of Dy increases in those magnets that are treated with Cu or Al-mixed DyH2, mainly because of the comparatively easy diffusion path provided by Cu and Al owing to their solubility in the Nd-rich grain boundary phase. The formation of a highly anisotropic (Nd, Dy)2Fe14B phase layer, which acts as the shell in the core-shell-type structure so as to prevent the reverse domain movement, is the cause of enhanced coercivity of diffusion-treated Nd-Fe-B magnets.

        Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets have been used in a wide variety of applications because of their high magnetic flux density. So, demand for neodymium has been increasing in worldwide. In this study, an electrowinning process was performed in LiF-NdF3-Nd2O3 high temperature molten salts. However, a corrosion resistant material for use in the molten salt must be found for stable operation because of the harsh corrosion environment of the electrowinning process. Therefore, for this paper, boron nitride(BN), aluminum nitride(AlN), and silicon nitride(Si3N4) were selected as protective and structural materials in the high temperature electrolyte. To investigate the characteristics of BN, AlN, and Si3N4, in molten salts, materials were immersed in the molten salts for 24, 72, 120, and 192 hours. Also, surface condition and stability were investigated by SEM and EDS and corrosion products were calculated by HSC chemistry. As a result, among BN, AlN, and Si3N4, AlN was found to show the best protective material properties.

        Malaysia has asserted sovereign rights over the ND6 and ND7 sea blocks, which partially overlap with the Ambalat and East Ambalat sea blocks. Indonesia has also asserted sovereign rights over there. This article argues the validity of Malaysia’s claim over the ND6 and ND7 sea blocks by virtue of the Pulau Ligitan dan Pulau Sipadan case in which the International Court of Justice found that the 4°10′ N parallel mentioned in the 1891 Convention between Great Britain and the Netherlands Defining Boundaries in Borneo terminated on the east coast of Sebatik and did not extend seawards. This article finds that Malaysia may use the Sipadan and Ligitan Islands as a basis to assert sovereign rights over the ND6 and ND7 sea blocks. The authors also highlights several other documents including a 1954 British declaration and bilateral treaties between Malaysia and Indonesia.

        본 실험은 국화의 바이로이드 제거에 이용되는 초저온처리 시 국화 품종 'White ND'을 적합한 처리조건을 확립하기 위해 초저온처리의 단계별 요인을 실험하였다. 그 결과 생장점의 크기는 1 mm(엽원기 2~3매 포함)에서 높은 생존율과 신초 재생율을 나타내었고, vitirification 처리시 PVS3가 효과적이었으며, 처리 시간은 60분 처리 하였을 때 높은 생존율 및 정 상 신초 재생율을 보였다. 또한 vitrification을 위한 전처리 조건은 sucrose 농도를 88 mM 24시간, sucrose 0.3 M 16시간, sucrose 0.5 M 6시간, sucrose 0.7 M 3시간으로 처리하는 것이 초저온 처리 후 생존율 및 신초 재생율을 높이는데 효과적이었으며, 재생된 정상 식물체는 모본과 비교하여 ploidy level이 동일한 것으로 보아 식물체의 유전적 변이가 일어나지 않았다.

        In this study, we fabricated Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic powders with various sizes via spray drying combined with reduction-diffusion process. Spray drying is widely used to produce nearly spherical particles that are relatively homogeneous. Thus, the precursor particles were prepared by spray drying using the aqueous solution containing Nd salts, Fe salts and boric acid with the target stoichiometric composition of Nd2Fe14B. The mean particle sizes of the spray-dried powders are in the range from one to seven micrometer, which are adjusted by controlling the concentra- tions of precursor solutions. After debinding the as-prepared precursor particles, ball milling was also conducted to con- trol the particle sizes of Nd-Fe-B oxide powders. The resulting particles with different sizes were subjected to subsequent treatments including hydrogen reduction, Ca reduction and washing for CaO removal. The size effect of Nd-Fe-B oxide particles on the formation of Nd2Fe14B phase and magnetic properties was investigated.

        A novel route to prepare Nd-Fe-B magnetic particles by utilizing both spray drying and reduction/diffu- sion processes was investigated in this study. Precursors were prepared by spray drying method using the aqueous solu- tions containing Nd salt, Fe salt and boric acid with stoichiometric ratios. Precursor particles could be obtained with various sizes from 2 to 10 µm by controlling concentrations of the solutions and the average size of 2 µm of precursors were selected for further steps. After heat treatment of precursors in air, Nd and Fe oxides were formed through desalt- ing procedure, followed by reduction processes in Hydrogen (H2) atmosphere and with Calcium (Ca) granules in Argon (Ar) successively. Moreover, diffusion between Nd and Fe occurred during Ca reduction and Nd2Fe14B particles were formed. With Ca amount added to particles after H2 reduction, intrinsic coercivity was changed from 1 to 10 kOe. In order to remove and leach CaO and residual Ca, de-ionized water and dilute acid were used. Acidic solutions were more effective to eliminate impurities, but Fe and Nd were dissolved out from the particles. Finally, Nd2Fe14B magnetic particles were synthesized after washing in de-ionized water with a mean size of 2 µm and their maximum energy prod- uct showed 9.23 MGOe.

        High-coercive (Nd,Dy)-Fe-B magnets were fabricated via dysprosium coating on Nd-Fe-B powder. The sputtering coating process of Nd–Fe–B powder yielded samples with densities greater than 98%. (Nd,Dy)2Fe14B phases may have effectively penetrated into the boundaries between neighboring Nd2Fe14B grains during the sputtering coating process, thereby forming a (Nd,Dy)2Fe14B phase at the grain boundary. The maximum thickness of the Dy shell was approximately 70 nm. The maximum coercivity of the Dy sputter coated samples(sintered samples) increased from 1162.42 to 2020.70 kA/m. The microstructures of the (Nd,Dy)2Fe14B phases were effectively controlled, resulting in mproved magnetic properties. The increase in coercivity of the Nd-Fe-B sintered magnet is discussed from a micro- structural point of view.

        제주도 주변 대륙붕해역에 분포하는 퇴적물의 기원지를 해석하기 위해 표층퇴적물의 희토류원소(REE), 주성분 및 미량원소, Sr-Nd 동위원소비를 분석하였다. 퇴적물의 화학원소에 근거한 변질지수(CIA)는 44.2-68.9(av.59.4)의 범위를 보이며 황하강퇴적물과 유사하였다. 연구지역 퇴적물을 콘드라이트로 표준화한 REE 패턴에서 대부분 LREE가 부화된(La(N)/Sm(N) 〉3) 작은 Eu 부(-) 이상을 가지는 전형적인 셰일의 희토류원소의 패턴을 나타낸다. UCC로 표준화한 REE 패턴에서 연구지역 남서쪽 외해지역의 퇴적물 시료들은 황하나 금강기원 퇴적물보다 양자강퇴적물과 유사한 높은 희토류원소함량과 위로 볼록한 REE 패턴을 보여 양자강기원 부유물질이 제주도 서쪽해역까지 운반되고 있음을 의미한다. 87Sr/86Sr 동위원소비와 εNd(0)의 구분지수는 연구지역 퇴적물의 기원지를 밝히는데 지시자로 제시할 수 있었다. 연구지역의 서쪽과 북서쪽에 분포하는 대부분의 퇴적물은 황하강 퇴적물 주위에 밀집 분포하는 특징을 보이고, 양자강 하구역과 가까운 남서쪽지역의 퇴적물들은 양자강 수중삼각주 퇴적물과 유사성을 보였다. 반면 제주도 북동쪽지역의 퇴적물은 중국의 강기원 퇴적물과는 다른 지역에 위치하는 특징을 보여, 따라서 제주도 주변해역은 복합기원 퇴적물이 집적되고 있음을 의미한다.
