        This study was investigated on the consciousness of middle school students in Jeju city about the environmental education through questionnaire, in order to understand the actual conditions of environmental education and to find out the solutions about them. Middle school students responded that environmental education in school was taken at the class for the special activity or voluntary service, not in regular class and was worked as in the form of the field trip. They generally obtain the knowledge and informations on the environmental problems from mass media such as TV, radio and newspaper than from regular environment class in school. And 36.0% of students perceive that environmental education is needed as a regular class and 31.3% of students perceive that the regular class in school is effective to the environmental education. These results suggest that many students are interested in the regular environment class in school. However, the most of students responded that the regular environment class in school is not worked or is not worked at all, suggesting that the environmental education in middle school is not worked effectively. Most of students prefer to take the environment class in the form of observation or field trip, and they think that observation or field trip is more effective to obtain environmental informations. In conclusion, the special activity such as observation or field trip needs to be supplemented to regular environment class in order to improve the environmental education in middle school more effectively.

        제주도 동북사면에서 발견된 선흘리 스피넬 페리도타이트 맨틀포획 암의 지화학적 특성은 처음보고 되는 것으로 제 4기 제주도 동북사면 하부에 위치한 상부맨틀의 화학 조성, 평형 온도, 마그마 정체 시간에 관한 일련의 정보를 제공하여 준다. 감람석(Fo89-90)을 포함한 스피넬 페리도타이트 내 구성광물들의 화학 조성은 일정하며 광물 중심부와 연변부의 화학 조성 차이 또한 크지 않다. 사방휘석-단사휘석 지온계를 이용하여 얻은 평형 온도 범위(약 951~1035℃)는 기존 제주도 다른 지역에서 산출되는 맨틀포획암에서 얻어진 온도 범위와 유사하다. 스피넬 페리도타이트가 모마그마에 포획되어 정체된 시간은 확산방정식과 감람석 내 칼슘 농도 변화를 이용하여 계산하여 본 결과 약 42일이다.

        본 연구는 우리나라 남해안과 제주도 일대 해안사구에 분포하는 유관속식물을 대상으로 2006년 2월부터 11월까지 조사한 결과, 조사지역내에 분포하는 식물은 51과 130속 152종 1품종 18변종 등 총 171분류군으로 관찰되었으며, 주요 출현종은 Calystegia soldanella(갯메꽃), Ischaemum anthephoroides(갯쇠보리), Imperata cylindrica va. koenigii(띠), Vitex rotundifolia(순비가나무), Carex pumila(좀보리사초), Carex kobomugi(통보리사초) 등으로 나타났다. 본 지역에서 조사된 171종류의 식물자원의 유용도를 분석한 결과 총 113종류의 자원식물이 분류되었으며, 식용자원(Edible source, E)은 73종류(40.5%), 약용자원(Medicinal source, M)은 61종류(33.9%), 초지자원(Pasture source, P)은 22종류(12.2%), 관상자원(Ornamental source, O)은 16종류(8.9%), 섬유자원 (Fiber source, F)은 7종류(3.9%), 목재자원(Timber source, T)은 1종류(0.5%)의 순으로 나타났다. 한국특산식물은 1분류군이 조사지역내 분포하며, 식물구계학적 특정식물 중 I III IV V등급 식물은 24과 28속 29분류군으로 소산식물 171분류군의 16.9%로 나타났으며, 귀화식물은 9과 16속 19분류군로 우리나라 전체 귀화식물 271종류의 7.0%이다.

        The SWAT model developed by the USDA-Agricultural Research service for the prediction of rainfall runoff, sediment, and chemical yields in a basin was applied to Jeju Island watershed to estimate the amount of runoff. The research outcomes revealed that the estimated amount of runoff for the long term on 2 watersheds showed fairly good performance by the long-term daily runoff simulation. The watershed of Chunmi river located the eastern region in Jeju Island, after calibrations of direct runoff data of 2 surveys, showed the similar values to the existing watershed average runoff rate as 22% of average direct runoff rate for the applied period. The watershed of Oaedo river located the northern region showed R2 of 0.93, RMSE of 14.92 and ME of 0.70 as the result of calibrations by runoff data in the occurrence of 7 rainfalls.

        본 연구에서는 제주도 해안에 자생하는 45종의 해양식물 추출물에 대한 항균 활성을 조사하였다. 해양식물 추출물은 80 % 메탄올에서 유효 성분을 추출하여 시료화 하였고 항균활성을 검증하였다. 그 결과, 45종의 해조류 중에서 넓패, 패, 구멍갈파래 등을 포함한 6종의 해양식물이 미생물 생육을 억제하는 결과를 보였다. 항균활성을 갖는 해양식물 중 패, 감태 2종은 항산화 효능도 동시에 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해, 본 실험에서 확보된 추출물이 항균 물질로 사용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

        In this study, we implemented landslide distribution of Jeju Island using ANN and GIS, respectively. To do this, we first get the counter line from 1:2,5000 digital map and use this counter line to make the DEM. for the evaluate the land slide susceptibility. Next, we abstracted slop map and aspect map from the DEM and get the land use map using ISODATA classification method from Landsat 7 images. In the computation processes of landslide analysis, we make the class to the soil map, tree diameter map, Isohyet map, geological map and so on. Finally, we applied the ANN method to the landslide one and calculated its weighted values. GIS results can be calculated by using Acrview program and produced Jeju landslide susceptibility map by usign Weighted Overlay method. Based on our results, we found the relatively weak points of landslide ware concentrated to the top of Halla mountains.

        In order to support the development of wind farms in Jejudo, a wind resource database for Jejudo has been established using a meteor-statistical analysis of KIER(Korea Institute of Energy Research) met-mast measurements and KMA(Korea Meteorological Administration) weather data. The analysis included wind statistics, tower shading, an exposure category classification using satellite images, the effect of atmospheric stability on the wind profile exponent, and a correlation matrix of wind speed to gain an understanding of the meteorological correlation between long-term weather observation stations and short-term met-mast measurements. The wind resource database for Jejudo, is to be provided as an add-on to Google EarthTM, which is expected to be utilized as a guideline for the selection of an appropriate reference site for long-term correction in the next wind farm development project.

        제주도 화산회 기원 토양시료들은 전형적인 안디졸에 해당하는데 낮은 pH, 높은 수분함량, 높은 유기물함량, 식질-미사질 토성을 보여주었다. 결정질 광물 중 현무암 기원의 감람석, 휘석 등의 철고토광물과 자철석 및 적철석 등의 산화철이 주구성광물로 관찰되며 이차광물인 깁사이트가 일부 심토에서 나타나는 것이 특징이다. 그밖에 제주도 화산회 토양은 비정질 알로판 광물과 ferrihydrite 등의 결정도가 낮은 광물을 상당량 포함하고 있다. 주성분원소는 비화산회토양에 비해 상대적으로 낮은 SiO2 함량과 높은 A12O3 및 Fe2O3 함량을 보이는데 이는 전형적인 화산회토의 특성을 반영한다. 토양 내 중금속 함량 중에서 Zn, Ni, Co, Cr은 각자 84~198, 56~414, 38~150, 132~1164 mg kg-1의 범위를 보여 일반적인 세계 토양 내 함량범위를 초과하는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 Cr의 경우 1,000 ppm 이상의 함량을 가지는 토양 시료도 존재하는 등 제주도 화산회 토양은 높은 Cr 함량을 보이는 것이 특징이다. 제주도 토양의 환원능은 평균 6.53 mg L-1 reduced Cr(VI)로서 내륙의 비화산회토양에 비해 5.1배 이상 큰 것으로 나타났다. 비화산회토양의 경우 토양 환원능은 토양의 이화학적 인자 중 총 탄소함량과 매우 좋은 상관관계(R = 0.90)를 보이고 있는 것으로 보고되었으나, 총 탄소함량이 일반 토양에 비해 20배 이상 큰 제주도 화산회 토양의 경우 환원능은 탄소함량과는 오히려 약한 음의 상관관계를 보여주고 있다(R = -0.469). 이러한 결과는 제주도 화산회 토양의 환원능을 제어하는 인자가 탄소함량뿐만 아니라 또 다른 토양 이화학성에 있음을 지시한다. 주성분 원소조성과 환원능의 상관관계분석결과 화산회토 특성을 반영하는 Al과 Fe 원소와 정의 상관관계(R = 0.793, R = 0.626)를 보여주었다. 또한 중금속 원소 중 Ni, Co, Cr 등은 제주도 화산회 토양의 환원능과 정의 상관관계(R = 0.538, R = 0.647, R = 0.468)를 보이고 있다. 산화환원전위에 민감한 Cr 원소의 경우 제주도 화산회토양의 높은 환원능으로 인해 유해하고 이동성이 높은 6가 크롬의 생성 및 이동이 매우 제한될 것으로 판단된다. 또한 제주도 화산회 토양의 환원능을 제어하는 인자는 비정질인 알로판 광물 및 ferrihydrite 등의 화산회토 특성과 밀접한 관련이 있는 것으로 판단된다.

        The purpose of this paper is to review current state of farm household's debt which is considered as one of the biggest problem in the rural community, to analyze the cause of farm household debt rising in Jeju province, and to make improvement schemes on how this problem of farm household debt could be alleviated. In order to achieve these objectives, raw data are collected from the interviews with 400 farming households in Jeju region. The results of the study are as follows; An average amount of total farm households debt was 42,000 thousand won in 2005, but an average of farm households debt excluding no debt farm households was increased by 10,000 thousand to 51,750 thousand won. But the debt properties are variable according to the farm type. Non-citrus farmers, younger farmers, rural area resident farmers hold more debt problems than other type. Among total farm households, 30 percent showed over 40 percent leverage ratio(debt/total assets), which is considered as risky or heavily indebted. Therefore, I designed a workout program and a program of land liquidation for heavily indebted farm households in Korea.

        The dichotomous-choice contingent valuation method is applied to estimate the landscape value of Jeju mandarin(orchard). A distribution-free approach, Turnbull empirical distribution model, is employed to solve negative willingness to pay and truncation problems. The data used are collected from the interviews with tourist about willingness-to-pay at the various donation amount levels of Jeju mandarin(orchard)'s landscape value. The evaluation result is shown that the average amount of willingness to pay for the Jeju mandarin's landscape value is 12,926 won per person with standard deviation of 1,874.7 won/person. When the number of Jeju visitors is considered, the economic value of Jeju mandarin's landscape rises every year(2005:64.89 billion won, 2011: 84.43 billion won). The average economic value of Jeju mandarin's landscape are estimated 59.65 billion won during 2000-2005 and 76.88 billion won during 2006-2011, respectively.

        Immune activities of Opuntia ficus indica L. Miller were investigated through aqueous extracts associated with ultrasonification process at 60℃, and showed the highest promotion of human B and T cell growth, up to 52% and 41%, respectively, compared to the control. The secretion of TNF-α and IL-60 was also enhanced by the addition (0.5mg/ml) of the extracts, up to 48%. NK cell activation was significantly improved up to 1.3 times higher than the case of adding other extracts. It was also found that extracts from O. ficus indica could yield higher nitric oxide production from macrophage than Lipopolysaccaharides (LPS). It can be concluded that, in general, the extracts treated with ultrasonification has higher Immune acitivities than others, possibly by higher yielding immune-modulatory than conventional extraction process. The optimum condition for the extraction of O. ficus-indicais water extraction associated with ultrasonification.

        The purpose of this paper is to estimate economic value of multi-functionality roles including landscape and so on, which grassland in Jeju possesses, using Dichotomous Choice Contingent Valuation Method (DC-CVM). Grassland is life cultural heritance of regional residents in Jeju. It has functions like development of favorable landscapes, maintenance of cultural heritage, and recreation/relaxation. Expectation from regional visitors shows that the existence and inheritance value of grassland is higher than we expected. According to the research that we had done from the people that had agreed to contribute grassland. moreover the public commercial value of grassland was not only 397~419 billion won but also it will increase an economic gain in every year in Jeju. Therefore, preserving grassland that has multi-functional roles and values can lead to huge economic value in the future in Jeju. Moreover, farm households which are located in the grassland conservation area would be supported 15~31 billion won in every year for grassland conservation but it is only 4~8% of the economic value of grassland i.e. 3,971~4190 billion won. Thus, grassland preservation policy and plan can raise green-tour commercial value of Jeju area as a long-term inside measurement. Those will have to be propelled continuously.

        여기에서는 제주도에 분포하는 임목유전자원에 대하여 앞으로의 개발과 보존전략 수립의 기초 자료로 활용하기 위하여 수행하였다. 제주도에 분포하는 목본식물은 62과 136속 279종 28변종 13품종으로 계 320 분류군이었다. 그 중 침엽수인 나자식물은 3과 5속 7종으로 전체의 2.2%였으며, 나머지인 59과 131속 272종 28변종 13품종 계 313 분류군이 활엽수였다. 활엽수 중 상록수는 31과 45속 72종 7변종 5품종으로 84 분류군으로 활엽수종의 26.8%이며, 낙엽수는 42과 93속 200종 21변종 8품종 계 229 분류군으로 73.2%였다. 이들은 교목 122 분류군(38.1%), 관목 177 분류군(55.1%), 만경 21 분류군(6.8%)으로 구성되어 있었다. 또한 휴면형, 번식형, 산포기관형 및 생육형에 의한 스펙트럼이 분석되었다. 제주도에 분포하는 목본식물 320 분류군 중 17과 21속 14종 16변종 30 분류군이 한국특산이었으며, 그 중 22 분류군은 제주특산이었다. 제주도에 분포하는 목본식물 중 식물구계학적 특정식물 종은 V 등급 10 분류군, IV 등급 24 분류군, III 등급 53 분류군이었다. 이 결과는 V 등급은 전국의 12%, IV 등급은 7.6%, III 등급은 17.2%에 해당하는 것이다.

        본 연구에서는 제주도에서 자생하는 30여 종의 식물추출물에 대한 항비만 효능을 조사하였다. 항비만 효능은 in vitro oil red-O staining 방법을 이용하여 지방전구세포 3T3-L1에서 분화억제력을 측정하였다. 그 결과, 30여 종의 식물 중에서 약도라지, 호장근, 유근피 등을 포함한 6종의 식물이 지방전구세포 3T3-L1의 분화를 억제하였다. 지방전구세포의 분화를 억제하는 물질 중 유근피, 약쑥, 호장근, 후박 4종은 우수한 항산화 효능도 동시에 가지고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과를 통해, 본 실험에서 확보된 추출물이 항비만 물질로 사용될 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다.

        선구 연구로부터 저자들은 제주 자생 식물 추출물의 항산화 및 세포보호 효과에 대한 결과의 일부를 이미 보고하였으며, 본 연구에서는 제주도에서 자생하는 나머지 37종의 식물 추출물에 대한 항산화, 미백 그리고 주름생성억제 효과를 측정하였다. 항산화 효과는 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl radical (DPPH)을 이용한 free radical 소거 활성 측정, Fe3+-EDTA/H2O2 계에서 생성된 활성산소종으로 인한 luminol의 화학발광을 이용한 소거 활성, 사람 적혈구를 대상으로 하여 rose-bengal로 증감된 활성산소에 대한 세포보호 효과를 측정하였다. 미백 및 주름억제 효과측정으로는 각각 tyrosinase, elastase의 활성 저해 효과를 측정하였다. 실험결과, free radical의 소거 활성(FSC50)은 소귀나무 수피(Myrica rubra, 5 g/mL), 광대싸리 수피(Securinega suffruticosa, 8 g/mL)에서 높게 나타났고, 활성산소 소거 활성(OSC50)은 상수리나무 잎(Quercus acutissima)과 광대싸리 수피(Securinega suffruticosa)에서 0.009 g/mL로 높게 나타났으며, 세포보호 효과( 50)는 50 g/mL에서 광대싸리 수피(Securinega suffruticosa, 895 min), 버드나무 줄기(Salix koreensis, 640 min)에서 크게 나타났다. 200 g/mL에서 tyrosinase의 활성 저해 효과(IC50)는 소귀나무 수피(Myrica rubra, 77.8 %), elastase의 활성 저해 효과(IC50)는 버드나무 줄기(Salix koreensis, 76.2 %)에서 큰 효과가 나타났다. 결론적으로 광대싸리 수피, 소귀나무 수피, 상수리나무 잎, 버드나무 줄기, 동백나무 잎/줄기 추출물은 기능성 화장품 제조를 위한 원료로 사용하기에 충분한 가능성이 있음을 확인할 수 있었으며, 향후에 제품화를 위하여 좀 더 다양한 연구들이 필요하다고 사료된다.

        The purpose of this study is to develop the landscape resource assessment system(LRAS) to help evaluate the value of landscape resources(Jeju Island's Stonewall fencing farming land) for the introduction of direct payment system of the landscape preservation objectively and to applicate the model in the fields. Delphi survey on Jeju's stonewall experts shows that the order of priority among value evaluation elements on Jeju's stonewall is its harmony with surroundings(34%), the preservation of its original state(34%) and its density and scale(32%). Evaluation system development of landscape resources(Jeju's stonewall fencing filming land) and field observation survey utilizing it consists of the following five steps. Step 1 includes the first Delphi survey on Jeju's stonewall experts to decide its value evaluation elements and their priority. Step 2 is the second Delphi survey on Jeju's stonewall experts to grade pictures of landscape resources(Jeju's stonewall fencing farming land) on the basis of expert-proposed value evaluation standards. Step 3 consists of analysis work using the result of Delphi survey on experts. Step 4 is to select five grade standard pictures according to each of three grading elements of A, B, C belonging to each of the three standards. Then, it is necessary to make panels including five A-grade pictures, five B-grade pictures and five C-grade pictures according to each of the three elements of density, harmony, and original state preservation. Step 5 consists of field observation survey. According to the result of few experts' value evaluation of stonewall fencing farming land with the aid of NRAS developed in this research, the area of Pyeongdae-ri is ranked first, and then the area of Bukcheon-ri, Chocheon-up, the area of Gwakgi-ri, Ewol-up, the area of Shinum-ri, Ewol-up and the area of Yongsu-ri, hankyung-Myun are ranked in the order named. When those areas are graded, A Grade Areas includes the areas of Pyeongdae-ri, the area of Bukcheon-ri, the area of Gwakgi-ri, B Grade Areas consist of the area of Shinum-ri and the area of Yongsu-ri, and the areas of Onpyeong, wimi and youngrak belong to C Grade Area.

        It is necessary to draw up many plans to solve problems in the management of groundwater resources in Jeju Island while systematically develop and utilize water resources at an optimal level. It also seems to an evitable option to establish Groundwater Management Areas in Jeju Island. The excess use of groundwater could be discouraged by imposing charges on those licenses. Such policy as allowance trading system do not appear to be because of transaction costs, but could be applied if only were accompanied by complementary method. The methods of using and conserving the limited resources of groundwater should be founded through socially agreeable and appropriate ways. The policy complemented allowance trading system by Pigouian tax could be effective to regulate licenses. This is cutting the numbers of licenses at a constant rate, imposing charges on those who want to continue using licenses, and reimbursing in cash to those who return the licenses.

        A grouting method is the way to effectively prevent pollutants from spreading into the ground during the digging process of groundwater. This study, based on the comparative study of grouting methods being generally accepted, suggests various construction methods which are suitable for geological structure as follows: In Jeju Island, it is very likely that rocks may fall in shuttered zones such as cracks, joints, scoria layers, and clinker layers. For this reason, it is recommended that materials be injected from the bottom toward the top, not from the top to the bottom. In the case where the amount of injected materials become too large in the areas of cracks or joints because of high level of permeability coefficient, grouting materials which smeared into surrounding areas may cause unwanted cut in the aquifer of the bottom level. To avoid this, the amount of water should be reduced from the typical water-cement ratio of 1:2, and grouting materials with larger grading should be used. If the deep excavation of ground is made in Jeju Island, it is likely to have lots of voids because of geological characteristics. Based on the results of this research, it is found that to construct interior casing, the centralizer should be attached to the casing to prevent the casing from being in contact with the counter fort. The grouting in Jeju Island should be thicker than usual. To avoid over-use of grouting materials, to prevent grouting in more than necessary zone, and to facilitate grouting of void areas, the flexible selection of materials is required. And, to exactly figure out the interior of dug well, an examination through CCTV should necessarily be performed when grouting work is in progress.
