        시아해의 수질환경과 식물플랑크톤 생물량의 계절변동 특성 및 식물플랑크톤 생물량변동에 영향을 미치는 환경요인을 파악하기 위해 1995년 2월,4월,7월과 10월 4회에 걸쳐 계절별로 23개 관측점의 표층과 저층 해수를 대상으로 현장조사를 실시하였다. 결과, 시아해는 2월에 최저수온, 8월에 최고 수온을 나타내나, 염분은 6, 7월에 높고 겨울에 낮은 특성을 나타내었으며, 연중 빠른 유속과 조석혼합 등으로 수층 간 혼합된 양상과 매우 낮은 투명도를 나타내고

        본 연구는 온배수가 인근 소하천의 수질과 농경지내 오염성분함량 변동에 미치는 영향을 구명하고 이에 대한 대책을 수립하는데 활용하고자 1997년 1월부터 1998년 9월 사이에 수행되었다. 온배수 유입으로 인근 소하천 물 중의 PO43-, SO42-, Cl-, NH4 -N, Ca2+, Na+ 및 COD성분함량은 농업용수 기준보다 낮았으며 유거 거리가 길어질수록 이들 농도는 더욱 낮아졌다. 유출된 온배수 중 SO42

        The in situ observations and the seawater analyses were conducted at all seasons from July 1996 to April 1999 for the purpose of describing the characteristics of seasonal variations of water quality in Mokpo harbour, Korea. Vertical stratification started to be formed in water column in spring, developed in summer and disappeared in fall. In summer, vertical density distribution of water column was found to be in stable structure with lower temperature and higher salinity of bottom water, and the vertical mixing of water between surface and bottom layers was restricted. In winter, however, surface water was found to be similar to bottom water in temperature and salinity, and water column was in unstable structure and in well-mixed condition between surface and bottom waters. The saturation percentage of dissolved oxygen(DO) in bottom water of inner part of Mokpo harbour at all seasons was shown to be decreased to the third grade or under the third grade of Korean standards of seawater quality. In particular, dissolved oxygen was oversaturated in surface water and undersaturated in bottom water in summer, due to stratification and organic pollution. The difference of DO concentration between surface and bottom waters was found to be greater in spring and summer than in fall and winter, due to stratification and photosynthesis of phytoplankton. The concentrations of chemical oxygen demand(COD) over the entire waters of Mokpo harbour were found to fluctuate from below the third grade to the first grade of Korean standards through all seasons and COD concentrations of same seasons were shown to be different year after year. In particular, in view of COD, the annual average seawater quality of Mokpo harbour was evaluated to be in third grade of Korean standards, due to organic pollution. The average COD of surface water was greater than that of bottom water in spring and summer, due to the autochthonous COD caused by production of phytoplankton in surface waters, while the average COD of surface water was similar to that of bottom water in fall and winter, due to the vertical mixing of water between surface and bottom layers.

        경북(慶北)의 낙동강수계(洛東江水系)와 동해안수계농촌(東海岸水系農村) 17개(個) 지점(地点)을 기준(基準)하여 농업용수원(農業用水源)의 수질환경(水質環境)을 조사검토(調査檢討)하여 장래(將來)의 방재대책(防災對策)에 참고하고져 조사분석(調査分析)을 실시(實施)한 바 농업용수원(農業用水源)을 기준(基準)할 때 수온상태(水溫狀態)는 수질(水質)을 저해(沮害)시킬 큰 요인(要因)이나 문제점(問題点)이 없으며 PH는 6.5~7.8의 절위에서 기준치(基準値)에 저촉되지 않으며 염도의 기준(基準)이 되는 전기전도도(電氣傳導度)도 에 이르는 지점도 있으나 농업용수의 수질저해지점에는 미치지 못하며 BOD의 경우는 기준치 10ppm에 육박(肉迫)하는 지점(地点)이 있어 다소(多少)의 위험위협을 받고 있다. 그리고 DO의 경우는 위험기준치에 미달(未達)하고 있다. 그리고 중금속(重金屬)에 속하는 Cu, Pb, Cd 등도 아직은 위험기준치에는 미달(未達)이나 장차에는 주위의 산업(産業)과 도시발달(都市發達)에 따르는 특별(特別)한 조치가 없는 한(限) 위험조건에 이를 것으로 생각된다.

        Electrical Conductivity (EC) or Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) has been often used to evaluate the water quality in some water education program for children and youth. This study attempted to find out whether EC (or TDS) can be used as a water pollution criteria in water education program. To clarify it, we used the water analysis data of July 2019 and January 2020 from Water Environment Information System. Data from 332 points in Han-river were used to investigate correlation between the parameters, such as BOD, COD, TN, TP vs EC. Correlation(r) for all data of BOD vs. EC was 0.347 for July 2019 and 0.483 for January 2020. No correlation was observed for BOD Ia and BOD Ib for July 2019 (r=-0.041, -0.030, respectively) and BOD Ia for January 2020 (r=0.041). Better correlation for all data of COD vs. EC was obtained (r=0.543 for July 2019 and r=0.610 for January 2020). However, no correlation was observed for COD Ia for January 2020. High vlaue of EC or TDS does not always mean water pollution, especially for clean water environment. Thus, EC (or TDS) alone can not be used as a water pollution criteria.

        Water and sediment qualities were investigated in the Oncheon Stream and at the Wondong bridge of the Suyoung River, during the summer rainy season, 2019. Dissolved oxygen (DO) showed the lowest levels at 4.7 and 5.0 m/L, and biogeochemical oxygen demand (BOD) showed the highest at 5.3 mg/L downstream where the tributary flows into the main river. Chemical oxygen demand (COD) increased from 2.0 to 5.9 mg/L on average as it flowed downstream, The COD/BOD ratio decreased gradually as it flowed downstream, reaching 1.0. However, COD/BOD ratio at the Wondong bridge was 5.8-22.2, indicating that easily biodegradable and non-biodegradable organic matter flows into the Oncheon Stream and Suyoung River, respectively. Total nitrogen (T-N) / total phosphorus (T-P) ratio tended to decrease from 72 to 21 as it flowed downstream, measuring 71 to 86 at the Wondong bridge. The water quality index (WQI) generally improved better than grade IV after heavy rainfalls. However, DO and T-P were the parameters that deteriorated the WQI. Ignition loss (IL), COD, T-N, and T-P of sediments had distribution of 1.44 ± 1.01%, 0.35 ± 0.16%, 43 ± 63 mg/kg, and 10.9 ± 21.9 mg/kg, respectively. These were several times lower than the annual averages of IL, T-N, and T-P in 2017 before the dredging project was conducted in the first half of 2018.

        Korea's protected horticulture is rapidly increasing in scale due to various advantages such as year-round harvesting, labor savings through automation and shortened culture period, and greater income generation. This study was conducted to investigate the impact of protected horticulture on water quality. The results of this study are expected to provide basic data contributing to improvements towards sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly design of protected horticulture complex. The average T-N and T-P loads from vinyl greenhouses were 286.55± 143.98 mg/L and 59.14±13.77 mg/L, respectively and those from glass greenhouses 380.68 ± 150.41 mg/L and 61.85±20.72 mg/L. The annual discharge of wastewater derived from the monthly discharge from the horticulture greenhouses were estimated at 2597 ton/ha, with the annual phosphorus load amounting to 155.3 kg/ha. The average T-N and T-P loads in the tested greenhouse effluents were in excess of 8.3- and 13.5-fold the standards for the Korean wastewater plant effluent. The waste nutrient solution discharged from a protected horticulture complex can cause water contamination. Therefore, there is a need to conduct follow-up research using a water purification system or a trench method to develop a eco-friendly protected horticulture complex for sustainable agriculture.

        In this study, water quality levels were classified and water quality indices were calculated and analysed by using the water quality components of living environmental standards monitored 10 years (2008 ~ 2017) at four stations in the West Nakdong River. As a result of analyzing the monthly variation of the water quality components of the living environmental standards, the water quality in the West Nakdong River was worse downstream than upstream, and pollution at the WNR3 located in the downstream of the Jomangang was the most serious. As a result of classification of water quality levels, BOD and COD levels were the lowest, so water quality pollution in the West Nakdong River was found to be highly influenced by organic matters. The water quality index was the lowest in July and August at four stations, so water quality is showing the worst in summer. As a result of analyzing the correlation between the water quality components and the water quality index, the correlation between the TOC and the water quality index was high in the four stations, and the water quality index in the West Nakdong River was dominated by organic matters and nutrients.

        In this study, the water quality components (pH, BOD, COD, TOC, SS, DO, TP) and the water quality, observed for 10 years (2008~2017) in the five tributaries of the Nakdong River with the highest flow rates, were analyzed. Monthly levels of the water quality components were estimated and regression functions were used to quantitatively explain the changes in the BOD and COD components, with respect to the TOC components. The results of analyzing the water quality levels in terms of the living environmental standards show that the lowest water quality was observed midstream (ST-3) and the highest water quality was observed upstream (ST-1 and ST-2). The regression function was estimated to be a linear function in all five tributaries, and the goodness of fit of the function was high upstream (ST-2), midstream (ST-3), and downstream (ST-4). According to the regression analysis using the observation data from 2008~2017, we found that the consumption of dissolved oxygen increased with an increase in organic matter in the major tributaries of the Nakdong River.

        Riparian management has become important as stream water quality as well as riparian ecosystem gain more public attentions. The objective of this study was to determine riparian widths based on the functions of nutrient removal and wildlife habitat protection and to apply for the Jinwee stream area as a preliminary case. Nitrogen and phosphorus filtration efficiencies were considered in water quality aspect, while the habitat radii of amphibian and reptiles were used for wildlife conservation purpose. In addition, observation of endangered species and human impact on wildlife disturbance in riparian area were also taken into account in determining riparian widths. The stream confluence zone was emphasized by doubling the riparian widths as the focal point for wildlife habitat conservation. As the results, three different levels of riparian widths were proposed depending on the major riparian functions and applied to the Jinwee stream section as the case study. The proposed method can be used to determine riparian width in other stream areas based on different functional focus, ie, water quality or riparian conservation purposes.

        “일라이트와 이산화티탄을 활용한 콘크리트 블록의 수질환경개선을 위한 실험연구”를 진행하기 위해 모르타르 예비실험, 수질정 화특성, 방오실험, 어독성 실험 및 실 콘크리트 블록 제조 후 관련 KS에 준한 실험을 진행한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. KS에 준한 콘크리 트 블록의 성능평가 결과 전 조건에서 시험기준치의 압축강도를 상회하는 것으로 측정되었으며, 다공질구조의 일라이트 치환에 따른 흡수율 증가가 문제점으로 예상되었으나, 이산화티탄과 사전 혼합하여 치환함으로써 일라이트의 대형 공극내 이산화티탄이 정착함에 따라 흡수율 또 한 문제가 없는 것으로 관찰되었다.

        생체고분자물질은 수자원환경에서 점토, 미생물, 바이오매스 등 부유입자들을 응집시키고, 침전, 퇴적시키는 역할을 한다. 본 연구는 다양한 수질화학 조건이 생체고분자물질에 의한 부유입자 응집에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자, 수질화학 조건을 제어하여 응집실험을 수행하였다. 각 응집실험은 이온강도, 2가 양이온 농도, 휴믹물질 분율이 제어된 실험조건에서 Kaolinite 현탄액에 생체고분자물질인 Xanthan Gum을 주입하여 수행하였다. 수체가 가지는 응집능은 응집체 크기 및 잔류 고형물 농도를 측정을 통하여 평가하였다. 본 연구에서, 이온강도 증가는 점토입자 및 생체고분자물질 간 정전기적 반발력을 감소시키고 생체고분자물질이 점토 입자 간 가교를 형성하여 응집을 증대시킨 것으로 파악되었다. 이온강도가 0.001에서 0.1 M NaCl로 증대될 경우, 응집을 증진시켜 응집체 크기는 약 3배 이상 증 대되고 부유고형물농도는 약 2.5배 이상 저감되었다. 또한, 2가 양이온이 수체에 존재하는 경우, 점토입자-생체고분자물질 혹은 생체고분자물질 상호 간 가교를 형성하여, 즉 점토-Ca2+-고분자 또는 고분자-Ca2+-고분자 가교를 형성하여, 생체고분자물질에 의한 부유입자 응집을 증대시켰다. 수체에 Ca2+가 낮은 농도라도 존재 할 경우, 응집을 크게 증진시켜 부유고형물농도가 원주입농도에 비하여 20배 이상 저감되는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만, 휴믹물질이 존재하는 경우, 점토입자 표면에 흡착되어 점토입자의 정전기적 반발력을 증대시켜 생체고분자물질의 흡착을 방해하고 응집을 감소시켰다. 수체에 휴믹물질이 존재할 경우, 응집을 저감시켜 부유고형물농도는 저감되지 않고 원 주입농도와 유사하게 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 수자원환경에서 부유입자 및 퇴적물 거동을 이해하고 수질 및 퇴적물에 대한 최적 관리 방안을 도출하기 위한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 기대된다.

        Water quality in Nakdong river was analyzed using 699 monitoring data sets including flow rates and water quality concentrations collected at 195 tributary monitoring stations (the priority management areas: 35 stations, the non-priority management areas: 160 stations) in 2015. The highest average concentrations of all data for BOD, COD, T-N, T-P, SS, and TOC were 30 600 times higher than the lowest concentrations while the highest average loading rates were 800,000 2,700,000 times higher than the lowest loading rates. Because of the very large differences in the concentrations and loading rates, the variation of the concentrations and loading rates in a priority management monitoring station for BOD, T-P, and TOC was analyzed using the coefficient of variation, the ratio of the standard deviation value to the mean value. For BOD, T-P, and TOC, the coefficients of variation for concentration were mostly less than 100%, whereas the coefficients of variation for loading rate ranged from 31.1% to 232.2%. The very big difference in the loading rates was due to the large variation in flow rates. As a result of this, the estimation of water quality at each monitoring station using the average values of the concentrations and loading rates might be not rational in terms of their representativeness. In this study, new water quality analysis methods using all collected monitoring data were suggested and applied according to the water quality standard in medium-sized management areas.
