        The activated sludge obtained from wastewater coke oven plant was immobilized by entrapment with polyethylene glycol (PEG). The effects of several factors on the biodegradation of CN- from synthetic wastewater were investigated using batch and continuous reactors. The degradation rate of CN- increased with increasing of the immobilized bead volume in the reactor. Approximately 7.65 mg/L of NH4-N was produced upon the degradation of 35 mg/L of CN-. When high concentrations of the toxic cyanide complex were used in the testing of cyanide degradation, the free activated sludge could be inhibited more than that of the immobilized activated sludge. When the phenol concentration was higher than 400 mg/L in the synthetic wastewater, approximately 98.4% of CN- was removed within 42 hours by the immobilized activated sludge. However, the cyanide was not completely degraded by the free activated sludge. This indicates that high phenol concentrations can act as a toxic factor for the free activated sludge. A CN- concentration of less than 1 mg/L was achieved by the immobilized sludge at the loading rate of 0.025 kg CN-/m3-d. Moreover, it was found that the HRT should be kept for 48 hours in order to obtain stable treatment conditions.

        본 연구에서는 보통포틀랜드시멘트(OPC: ordinary Portland cement), 플라이애쉬(PFA: pulverised fly ash), 고로슬래그미분말(GGBFS: ground granulated blast furnace slag), 실리카퓸(SF: Silica fume)등의 각종 결합재를 적용한 시멘트 페이스트의 염소이온 고정화능력에 관하여 연구하였다. 각각의 사용 시멘트 페이스트는 40%의 물/결합재로 PFA, GGBFS 및 SF 혼화제의 각기 다른 치환률을 갖도록 하였으며 미리 혼합수내에 결합재 중량당 0.1~0.3%의 염소이온을 배합수내에 혼입 포함시켜 배합되어 제조되었다. 염소이온의 측정은 7일간 양생 후 수분 추출 방법을 이용하여 측정하였다. 실험을 통해 염소이온 고정화 능력이 결합재 종류 및 치환률에 의존하고 있음을 확인하였고, 총 염소이온량의 증가는 염소이온 고정화능력을 제한하여 결론적으로 염소이온 고정화를 감소시키고 있음을 보였다. 본 연구에서 최대 30%의 치환율을 가진 PFA와 60%의 치환률을 가진 GGBFS의 경우는 OPC보다 염소이온고정화 능력이 작았으며, SF의 치환률의 증가는 고정화를 감소시키고 있음을 확인하였으며, 이는 포졸란계 재료의 잠재 수화반응 혹은 공극수의 pH 저하등의 이유로 판단된다. 재령 7일에서의 염소이온의 고정화능력은 염해부식에 대한 저항성으로 나타내어지며, 염분을 혼입한 경우의 고정화능력의 순서는 30%PFA > 10%SF > 60%GGBFS > OPC로 나타났다. 더욱이 염소이온의 고정화 거동은 Langmuir isotherm 및 Freundlich isotherm으로 잘 표현될 수 있음을 보였다.

        The photocatalytic decolorization of Rhodamine B (RhB) was studied using packed-bed reactor and immobilized TiO2/UV System. The 20 W UV-A, UV-B and UV-C lamps were employed as the light source. The effect of shape and surface polishing extent of reflector, distance between the reactor and reflector, reactor material were investigated. The results showed that the order of the initial reaction constant with reflector shape was round > polygon > W > rhombus. The optimum distance between the reactor and reflector was 2 cm. The initial reaction constant of quartz reactor was 1.46 times higher than that of the PVDF reactor.
