        상선에 비해 잦은 변침을 하고 어획물로 인한 중량 및 무게중심의 변화와 같은 다양한 운항조건을 가진 어선의 경우, 조종성능 은 선박 운항 시에 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 소형 어선의 사고는 2022년 기준 전체 해상 사고의 약 60%를 차지하며, 이는 부족한 조종성 능으로 인한 충돌과 좌초 사고가 주요 원인이다. 특히 10톤 미만의 소형선박에서 발생한 사고는 전체 사고의 약 65%를 차지하는데, 소형 어선의 조종성능 관련 기준이 부재하여 이를 정확히 평가하기엔 어려움이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 4.99톤급 소형 어선을 대상선으로 선 정하여 3D-CAD로 모델링 한 후, 상용 수치해석 프로그램인 STAR-CCM+를 활용하여 선박의 조종운동 시뮬레이션 환경을 구축하였다. 이 를 바탕으로 다양한 표준재화상태와 무게중심을 고려하여 10° / 10° 및 20° / 20° zigzag test와 35° turning test를 수행하였고, 선체 중량이 증가 함에 따라 변침성능이 감소하고 선회성능이 향상되는 경향을 분석하였다. 그 중, 만재출항과 부분만재입항 상태에서는 상대적으로 선회 성능이 부족한 결과를 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 소형선박의 안전한 운항을 위한 표준재화상태와 무게중심을 고려한 조종성능의 평가 및 그에 상응하는 표준화된 조종성능 평가 기준의 필요성을 제시하였다. 또한, 본 연구의 조종성능 평가 결과가 소형선박의 조종성능 평 가 기준 선정을 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

        The model ship of this study, the Baek-Kyung fisheries training ship of Pukyong National University, has a length between perpendiculars of 85 meters, making it not subject to the IMO maneuverability standards. However, understanding the maneuvering characteristics of the vessel is essential for safe navigation. In this regard, this study was conducted to analyze the results from the sea trials of the model ship conducted in accordance with the IMO maneuverability standards. The results of the turning tests met the standards well while in the zig-zag tests, the first overshoot angle exceeded the standard in the 10°/10° test; however, such results met with a difference of 1.8° in the 20°/20° test. Additionally, using the course-stability discrimination formula, the calculated value was -0.0051, indicating unstable course-stability. The results of the stopping tests met the standards well. It is hoped that the analyzed maneuvering characteristics of the model ship from the study results will contribute to the safety of ship navigation.

        Recently, universities of fisheries and institutions related to fisheries are actively carrying out a project to build new fisheries training ships. These new fisheries training ships are significantly larger in size and longer in length than the previous ships. In addition, these new ships basically have space that can accommodate more than 100 crew and passenger. On the other hand, they are excluded from IMO maneuverability evaluation since the size of these ships are still less than 100 m in length (LBP). These results have had an impact on the study of maneuverability of fishing vessels including the fisheries training ships. Against these backgrounds, the authors conducted a study to estimate the maneuvering characteristics of fisheries training ship Baek-Kyung according to depth in order to prepare a maneuvering characteristic index that enables the large fisheries training ships to navigate more safely using a modified empirical formula. It was confirmed that the maneuvering characteristics of Baek-Kyung changed significantly as the values of the hydrodynamic force coefficients changed as the water depth gradually decreased from around 1.5 (approx. 8 m in depth) of the ratio of the water depth to the ship draft. The results of this study will not only help navigators understand the maneuvering characteristics of Baek-Kyung, but also serve as an indicator when navigating in shallow water. In addition, the accumulation of these results will serve as a basis for future study on maneuverability of fishing vessel types.

        국제해사기구에서는 해상에서의 선박의 충돌방지와 그로 인한 해양환경의 보호를 목적으로 1993년 11월 선박조종성능에 대 한 잠정지침을 채택한 이후, 축적된 데이터를 바탕으로 2002년 12월 선박조종성능에 대한 확정된 지침을 채택하였다. 하지만 채택된 지침은 만재상태, 등흘수 및 선박의 최대 출력(MCR)의 85 %에 해당되는 선속의 최소 90 % 이상에서의 지침으로, 동 지침은 항해사에게 필요한 실 항해조건에서의 조종성능 정보를 제공하는 데 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 항해사, 선장 및 선박조종에 대한 식견을 갖추고 있는 전문가를 대상으로 빈도분석과 AHP 분석기법을 실시하여 현 지침에 대한 활용도 및 실제 선박조종에 필요한 정보가 무 엇인지를 식별하였다. 연구결과 선박을 운항하는 항해사에게 필요한 조종성능 정보는 5~10°의 소각도에서의 선회권 정보, 항해속력(Sea speed)이 아닌 조종속력(Maneuvering speed)에서의 z-test 정보라는 것을 확인하였고, 속도제어 관련하여서는 항해속력 및 만재상태에서의 정지성능에 대한 정보보다 감속타력, 가속타력 등에 대한 정보가 더 필요하다는 것을 확인하였다. 도출된 결과는 선박을 조종하는 항 해사에게 필요한 선박조종성능기준 지침마련에 대한 기초자료로 활용도가 높을 것으로 사료된다.

        At ship design stage, the maneuverability is generally estimated based on the empirical formula or the computational fluid dynamic (CFD), which is one of the numerical simulation methods. Using the hydrodynamic derivatives derived through these methods can quantitatively estimate the maneuverability of target vessels and evaluate indirect maneuverability. Nevertheless, research on estimating maneuverability is insufficient for ships not subject to IMO maneuverability standard, especially fishing vessels, and even at the design stage, the empirical formula developed for merchant ships is applied without modification. An estimation error may occur due to the empirical formula derived from the regression analysis results of a model test if the empirical formula developed for merchant ships with different hull shapes is applied to fishing vessels without any modification. In this study, the modified empirical formula that can more accurately estimate the fishing vessel's maneuverability was derived by including the hull shape parameter of target fishing trawlers in the regression analysis process that derives Kijima et al. (1990) formula. As a result, the modified empirical formula showed an average estimation error of 6%, and the result improved the average error of 49% of Kijima et al. (1990) formula developed for merchant ships.

        In this study, a motion control problem for the vessel towed by towing ship on the sea is considered. The towed vessel does not have self-control capabilities such that its course stability totally depends on the towing ship. Especially, in the narrow canal, river and congested harbor area, extreme tension is required during the towing operation. The authors, therefore, propose a new control system design method in which the rudder is activated to provide its maneuverability. Based on the leader following system configuration, a nonlinear mathematical model is derived and a backstepping control is designed. By experiment results with nonlinear control framework, the usefulness and effectiveness of the proposed strategy are presented.

        In order to offer specific information needed to assist in operation of a ship with same type rudder through evaluating the maneuverability of training ship A-Ra with flapped rudder, sea trials based full scale for turning test, zig-zag test with rudder angle 10° and 20°, and spiral test at service condition were carried out on starboard and port sides around Jeju Island according to the standards of maneuverability of IMO. As a result, the angular velocity of port turn was higher than that of starboard turn. Therefore, the size of turning circle was longer on the starboard side. In addition, variation of the transfer due to various factors was more stable than those of the others. In the Z-test results, the mean of 1st and 2nd overshoot angles were 9.8°, 6.3° and 15.3°, 9.2° respectively when the port and starboard was 10°; the 1st overshoot angle were 18°, 13.7° when using 20°. Her maneuverability index Tˊ and Kˊ can be easily determined by using a computer with the data obtained from Z-test where Kˊ and Tˊ are dimensionless constants representing turning ability and responsiveness to the helm, respectively. In the Z-test under flap rudder angle 10°, the obtained Kˊ value covered the range of 2.37-2.87 and Tˊ was 1.74-3.45. Under the flap rudder angle 20°, Kˊ and Tˊ value showed 1.43-1.63, 1.0-1.73, respectively. In the spiral test, the loop width was unstable at +0.3° and –0.5°-0.9° around the midship of flap rudder. As a result, course stability was comparatively good. From the sea trial results, training ship ARA met the present criterion in the standards of maneuverability of IMO.

        In this study, a motion control problem for the vessels towed by tugboats or towing ships on the sea is considered. The towed vessel looks like the barge ship, which is used for many purposes. In these vessels, basically, the power propulsion system is not installed but just towed by a towing vessel such as tugboats with ropes and wires. It means that the motions of towed vessel are basically dependent on the tracking route of towing boat. Therefore, in some cases, undesirable and unpredictable motions may be made by environmental factors such as wave, wind attack and so on. As a result, a collision accident with others may occur during maneuvering situation. Based on these facts, the authors try to encourage the steering performance of the towed vessel by using controllable rudders without any propulsion system. In this study, especially, a controllable vessel with three rudders is considered, and a mathematical model is induced for the future study. The model is described as surge, sway motion and inertia moment by following the general representation method for the surface ship.

        International Maritime Organization (IMO) has established standards for ship manoeuvrability and applied these standards for vessels over 100 meters in length that built since 2004 (IMO, resolution MSC.137[76]). These standards are no exception to fishing vessels. In this study we carried out a manoeuvring simulation of the new model ship (Stern trawler) of fisheries training ship of Pukyong National University based on Kijima's empirical formula. The formula takes into account of the effect of stern shape or does not take into account of the effect of stern shape. Also we checked whether the simulation results of turning motion of model ship meet IMO manoeuvrability criteria and then compared trajectories between the simulation results of model ship and the results of real sea trial test of the existing ship. In conclusion, Kijima's empirical formulas can estimate the manoeuvrability of fishing vessels at design stage approximately, it needs more parameters of fishing vessel own in case of expressing the manoeuvrability of fishing vessel accurately.

        This study is intended to provide navigator with specific information necessary to assist in the avoidance of collision and in operation of ships to evaluate the maneuverability of research vessel Jera. Authors carried out full-scale sea trials for turning test, zig-zag test, and spiral test at actual sea-going condition, which were performed on starboard and port sides with 10-20 rudder angle at service speed of 10 knots. The turning circle was much different at both of the turning of port and starboard which was longer at the starboard than at the port. In the zig-zag test results, the port and starboard was 10˚ the first and second overshoot angles were 6.0˚ , 5.8˚ and 6.3˚ , 7.1˚ respectively and the first overshoot angles were 16.4˚ , 17.6˚ when using 20˚ . Her maneuverability index T and K can be easily determined by using an analogue computer with the data obtained from the zig-zag tests where K is a constant representing the turning ability and T is a constant representing her quick response. In the zig-zag tests under 10˚ or 20˚ at rudder angle, the value K is 0.149. 0.123 sec- and T is 11.853 and 6.193 sec and angular velocity is 0.937˚ /sec and 1.636˚ /sec. In the spiral test, the loop width was unstable at +0.51˚ and -1.19˚ around the midship of rudder, but the tangent line at 0˚ was close to vertical. From the sea trial results, we found that she did comply with the present criterion in the standards of maneuverability of IMO.
