        The goal of ecotourism is the conservation of nature, creating benefits for local residents, and providing high quality tourism for visitors. This study investigated: (1) visitors' satisfaction about festival activities and (2) the contribution of ecotourism to the region, specifically visitors' understanding of the local culture and visitors' consumption at this festival. The results of this study were as follows. First, spending time with family was the major reason of visiting this festival. The major visiting pattern of this festival was family, too. Developing family oriented experience programs were required. Second, visitors were quite satisfied with the programs of this festival. Visitors were the most satisfied the International Butterfly Room where visitors can see live butterflies. Third, visitors could understand the local culture in this festival and the county's development strategy is related to butterflies. Visitors could see butterflies even on blankets and pillows of motels, and designs at the bus terminal in Hampyeong county. Fourth, in terms of visitors' consumption at this festival, visitors spent more money on lodging, traffic, entrance fees. Finally, managerial implications for the festival staff were suggested.

        The purposes of this study were (1) to investigate the factors which affect customer satisfaction of Upo wetland ecotourism website, Upo Wetland Cyber Ecological Park. (2) to examine the relationship between satisfaction and behavioral intentions, specifically, the desire to revisit and :recormnend it to others. The four factors were ecotourism contents, design, system charaderistics, and trust. It was found that four factors, i.e., ecotourism contents, design, system characteristics, and trust were significantly influencing customer satisfaction, which in tum affected revisit and word of mouth. Suggestions for further studies and managemental implications are discussed.

        The changes in the worldwide paradigm of the sustainable development have started to be applied in the entire industry fields, and they come out as the sustainable tourism in the field of tourism. And the ecotourism has emerged as a practical method to meet the needs of the actual practice and the intellectual system for the sustainable tourism. In the type of tourists based on tourist attitude, 82.3% has the environment-friendly tourist attitude as a potential ecological tourist or an ecological tourist. In addition, there are the potentials of increase in ecological tourists as well as the revitalization of ecological tourism. First, the ecological tourists are mostly the well-educated and married professional workers at 40, housewives, and people earning a high income. Next, the potential ecological tourists are mainly the well-educated and married professional workers at 30, workers in the service industry, and middle-class citizens. Lastly, the general tourists are the students at 20 who are single, earn a low income, and has low level of eduction. This study presents useful data to the tourist business in terms of the development, operation and management of sustainable ecological tourism.

        The purposes of this study were to investigate visitors' satisfaction and residents' benefits on Hansan Ramie Fabric Ecotourism Festival. The sample of this study was 232. The results of this study were as follows. First, tourists more satisfied with event interesting, variety, and experiences at this festival than residents. Second, It was found that tourists significantly satisfied with understanding of local cultures compared to residents. It was found that tourists spent more money than residents, and the festival contributed to local economy. This study examined only few festival event programs. For the future study, it is necessary to investigate more programs of the festival and examine the determinants factors of visitors' and residents' satisfaction.

        The purpose of this research is to survey resident's perceptions on the development of ecotourism village and to provide basic data far ecotourism vitalization. This research has been carried out four villages at Seogwipo city in Jeju province. A survey was implemented to investigate the resident's perceptions toward ecotourism development. To speak the results of resident's cognition, First, the existing condition on the development of ecotourism village are ranked in the order of Bomok Dong, Beobhwan Dong, Topyong Dong, Kangjung Dong. Second, the necessity of development for ecotourism village are ranked in the order of Bomok Dong, Topyong Dong, Kangjung Dong and Beobhwan Dong. Third, ecological residential style are most needed Bomok Dong, and equilibrium of ecosystem are most needed Bomok Dong.

        The purposes of this study were to investigate ecotourism goals of conservation and increasing residents' benefits based on perceptions from the stakeholders of the Upo wetland. The stakeholders are residents, five villages' reprensentatives, people who were residents but now live out of the area, civil officals, and environmental NGO staffs of he Upo wetland. The results of this study were as follows: While the perceptions of environmental conservation among interviewees were positive, the residents' perceptions about residents' benefits were very negative in the Upo wetland. People who used to reside and then moves out had pride about the Upo and they wanted to return to live in the Upo wetland area. Even though the wetland is named as one of the most well known ecotourism sites by the Ministry of Environment and Korean National Ecotourism Organization(KNTO), the Upo wetland area is not an ecotourism site yet based on the definition of ecotourism goals which seek generating conservation and residents' benefits in this study. There are suggestions for this wetland area. The conservation policy with the residents' benefits are strongly recommended.

        The purposes of this study were to investigate ecotourism goals which are providing educational tourism, generating environmental conservation, and residents’ economic benefits based on the 7th Muju Firefly festival. The sample was 243 visitors from August 23rd to 30th, 2003. The results were as follows: First, visitors showed high satisfaction for the educational tourism program. Experiencing educational "Mysterious Firefly Field Trips" contributed to the tourists` educational satisfaction. It was found that these experience programs were very popular. Second, residents` and domestic visitors` satisfaction was high with 5.50 on Likert 7 points concerning environmental conservation. Third, foreigners showed high satisfaction for visiting tourism sites and understanding regional culture in terms of understanding region and economic benefits. The average economic effect was decreased compared to 2002. So there should be more diverse strategy to increase economic effect. Also more festival related products, diverse and unique foods and beverages based on regional products should be developed.

        The purposes of this study were to investigate visitors' environmental attitudes of educational tourism, environmental preservation, and regional economic benefits satisfaction through the Chunsuman Bay Birdwatching Festival. The results of this study were as follows: First, the degree of educational satisfaction was high and this festival provided environmental preservation mind for visitors and local residents as well. The festival participants had a positive attitude toward migratory birds. Especially, the residents who had negative perceptions toward migratory birds due to physical harms of agricultural crops was positively changed after visiting this festival. So there should be prepared for more strategic approaches for residents' visiting and participating this birdwatching festival. Second, while the number of tourists was increased, it did not make a practical contribution to residents' income Particularly, farmers' satisfaction was low. So there should be more strategic programs to improve residents' economic rewards for sustainable development.

        As a supplier of ecotourism, local people are vital for its successful development of ecotourism in Less Favored Mountainous Area(LFMA). A survey was carried on to investigate the residents' attitudes toward ecotourism development. In addition, an Importance-Performance Analysis(IPA) of resources for ecotourism was carried out. Major results are: First, cognition of residents fur environmentally friendly approach in tourism development, was very high (76.1 %). And appreciations of residents towards ecotourism were also high(more than 50%), Recently, the understanding of ecotourism is highly increasing. Second, ecotourism development was highly accepted(63%) as a desirable tourism development. And 65% of respondents showed willingness of participation to ecotourism development. Third, valleys were cognized as major ecotourism resources, and as a result of IPA, (unique) plant community, eco-villages, and habitats of wildlifes were in the category of 'Concentrate Here'.

        Regarding to the ecotourism for environmental conservation, tourists's consciousness and attitude on environment should be dealt with importantly more than the mass tourism. The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of the tourist's environmental consciousness on the ecotourism attitudes. As a result, it was analysed that the more people had interested in environmental problems, positive activities in the environment, the more people had the ecotourism attitudes. This suggested that for development of the ecotourism, it were needed to change tourist's attitude to friendly environment, to make higher consciousness about environmental conservation.
