This is the second paper on a systematic search for variable stars in Cyg OB3 region. In this paper we present the observational properties of 46 variable stars found in the region. Among them, 27 are eclipsing binaries and others are semi-long periodic or slow irregular variables. Only 5 are known variables and the rest are newly discovered ones. We have obtained the period and amplitude of 20 eclipsing binaries using the phase fitting method, and present the light curves of 46 variable stars.
As a part of the short-period variability survey (SPVS) at Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory, we obtained time-series BV CCD images in the region of Cyg OB3 association centered on the open cluster NGC 6871. The observations were performed for 18 nights from September 5, 2008 to September 1, 2009. We found 15 short-period variable stars in the region. They are δ Scuti type stars belonging to the local spiral arm, Orion spur. Among them, only two stars were previously known, and the rest are newly discovered ones. In this paper, we have performed a multiple-frequency analysis to determine frequencies of the 15 δ Scuti type stars, using the discrete Fourier transform and linear least-square fitting methods. One of the newly discovered variable stars is a double-mode δ Scuti type star with the fundamental and the first overtone modes, and two are high amplitude δ Scuti stars.
We are often faced with the task of having to estimate the hydrogen and helium ionizing luminosities of massive stars in the study of H II regions and the warm ionized medium (WIM). Using the results of the most complete compilation of stellar parameters (the effective temperature, stellar radius and surface gravity) and the latest Kurucz stellar atmosphere models, we calculate the ionizing photon luminosities in the H0andHe0 continua from O3 to B5 stars. We compared the theoretical Lyman-continuum luminosity with the observationally inferred luminosity of the H II region around α Vir, and found that the theoretical value is higher than the observed value in contrast to the eariler result.
With the radical change of business environment, all service companies' employees are forced to provide many customers with high service quality every day, and the extra role(or organizational citizenship behavior) is more imperative than other industry. The purpose of this paper is to introduce Luthans & Kreitner's Organizational Behavior Modification(OB Mod) model to improve organizational citizenship behavior and service quality. With analyzing the relationships among target behavior(service quality), antecedents(OCB), and consequences(customer satisfaction), this paper reviewed OB Mod's 5 stages; identifying, measuring, functional analysis of the behavior, development of an intervention strategy, evaluation. This model has found to be useful in finding and improving troublesome employee behaviors in USA, but not been verified in Korea. Thus it is recommended to review the difference of organizational culture and practices before introducing the model.
A large scale 13CO(J=1-0) survey was made for CMa OB1/R1 region in 220° ≤ l 230° and -10° ≤ b ≤ 10° with a 8' spacing by using the 4 m radio telescope of Nagoya University. 34 isolated clouds were identified in this survey. Among them, two clouds were firstly identified by us. The observed LSR velocity indicate that almost of the all clouds are located in the Local arm, except two extreme velocity. The mass spectrum of the clouds in the Local arm is best fitted by a power-law index of 1.6.
A model experiment of purse seine by the circulating water tank was carried out on the changes of net shape and the tension of purseline under operation in two layer current. In the circular tank, the two layer current was made by cutting off the current of upper layer and producing the bottom current by the equipment shown in Fig. 1. The model experiment of purse sein was made on a reduced scale 1 :400, and the experiment was carried out according to the Tauti's model law. When the bottom current of O. 5 knot flows to lower part of three-eighths of net, following results are derived. The depth of sinkerline reached only about 80% of that of no current set. The horizontal shift of sinker line caused by the bottom current is maximized in tight set. The enclosed area by the floatIine immediately after the completion of set net is 61. 5% in tight set, 50. 0 % in loose set and 54. 1 % in lateral set of those in the case of no current. In the first half period of pursing, the tension of the purseline is enhenced by the bottom current and the pattern of increasing is irregular in the tension curves.
We derived initial mass functions (IMF) of massive stars in three different regions of spiral arms within 2.5kpc from the sun. The derived IMF slope β β of Local arm stars is found to be −2.09∼−2.06 −2.09∼−2.06 , very close to that of Bisiacchi et al. (1983). For Sagittarius-Carina arm stars β β ranges from -1.77 to - 1.72 which is close to that of overall stars given by Germany et al. (1982). Possible causes inducing the regional difference in IMFs are discussed.
Obesity is often associated with an impairment of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and also unites with reproductive defects and reduced fertility. The leptin-deficient ob/ob mouse is characterized by a morbid obesity and infertility. In the present study, we examined when ob/ob mouse lost their fertility activity according to aged dependent were investigated. The major organ systems in the body, the ovaries of females are the first to exhibit impaired function with advancing age. Here, ob/ob and ob lean various (4, 6, 9, 12 and 24 wks) aged mice were used. Histology (H & E staining) of ovary, vaginal smear and Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis were carried out. Hematoxylin/eosinstained sections show normal histology in ob lean type mice characterized by the presence of multiple primary and secondary follicles and well developed corpora lutea (CL). Ovaries from ob/ob mice, showed 4 and 6 wks mice similar to ob lean type but according to aged dependent ob/ob mice few primary and secondary follicles was seen. Many large empty follicles were present and no proper developed CL, especially 24 wks mice. Vaginal smear showed abnormal estrous cycle in ob/ob mice. Ovaries of ob/ob mice, mRNA results showed that ovulated gene TIMP1, Pgsh2 and Lhcgr expression levels are decreased according to aged dependent compared to ob lean type mice. These data suggest that aged dependent specifically when 24 wks of ob/ob mice lost their reproductive function.
