        본 연구에서는 녹말(starch)과 poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN)으로 이루어진 가지형 공중합체 기반의 슈퍼 캐퍼시터용 전해질막을 손쉽게 제조하는 방법을 제시하였다. 가지형 공중합체(starch-g-PAN)는 세륨 이온에 의해 개시된 자유 라디칼 중합을 통해 합성되었다. 실온에서 어떠한 유기용매 없이 Starch-g-PAN 고분자를 이온성 액체, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanamide (EMIM DCA)에 용해하였으며 1시간 동안 100°C의 고온을 가해줌으로써 손쉽게 고분자 막을 만들었다. 제조된 막은 유연하여 플렉서블 고체 슈퍼 캐퍼시터의 전해질에 적용되었다. Starch-g-PAN 기반의 고분자 전해질막을 사용한 슈퍼 캐퍼시터는 0.5 A/g의 전류 밀도에서 약 21 F/g의 정전용량을 가졌으며 10,000 사이클 동안 86%의 유지율을 보이며 높은 주기 안정성을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 starch-g-PAN 기반의 고분자 전해질막이 우수한 성능을 가진 플렉서블 고체 슈퍼 캐퍼시터에 응용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

        Rapid, simple, and sensitive detection of pathogen bacteria is a highly topical research area due to increasingly concerning of food safety and public health. Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a promising and attractive technique offering fast, sensitive, comparatively low-cost, and in-suit detection of pathogenic bacteria. However, this technique requires the preparation step for reducing the noise derived from heterogeneous matrixes of food sample. Immunomagnetic separation (IMS) is widely used technique enabling separation and concentration of the target analyte. It can be used not only laboratory scale but also field diagnosis easily. Here, we synthesized gold-shelled starch magnetic microparticles (GS@SMMPs) for effective separation and concentration of Escherichia coli O157:H7, which were subsequently subjected to SERS integrated with gold-coated 3D-well substrate for bacterial detection in aqueous solution. GS@SMMPs were labelled by Anti-E. coli O157 monoclonal antibody through gold binding protein and staphylococcal protein G (GBP-SPG) fusion protein. In IMS experiment, the immuno-GS@SMMPs showed high capture efficiency over 90% to E. coli O157:H7, which resulted in 10 times decrease in detection limit in PCR assay. Through SERS assay, E. coli O157:H7 concentrated by immuno-GS@SMMPs were successfully detected even at an extremely low concentration of 101 CFU/ml the subjected to SERS. Moreover, by using sandwich method using SERS reporter consisting of GBP-SPG, we found that E. coli O157:H7 were able to be detected by SERS quantitatively through measuring the SERS intensity of GBP-SPG. This novel strategy combining SERS and IMS could be meaningful for extending the application in SERS for in-suit sensitive detection of pathogenic bacteria.

        Starch is an abundant, renewable, and low cost material that has been extensively studied for its role in crystallization. The aim of this study is to develop a convenient and green approach to synthesize starch nanoparticles (StNPs). Short glucan chains were successfully prepared by using pullulanase that could debranch the amylopectin obtained from waxy maize starch. StNPs were prepared via the self-association of short glucan chains, of which the crystallinity structure changed from A-type (native starch) to B-type (starch nanoparticles) through the enzymatic hydrolysis and reassembly process at 4°C. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to characterize the morphology and crystalline structure of StNPs. The results showed that the diameter of StNPs ranged from 300 nm to 1.5 μm, depending on the initial concentration of short glucan chains and self-assembly time. The developed approach could produce well-defined and uniform starch nanoparticles that could readily be employed to encapsulate various functional guest molecules in biocompatible starch based nanoparticles in food industry.

        This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of high temperature on the stem, leaf and grain of barley during the ripening period and to provide information for the development of high-temperature cultivation techniques and adaptive varieties. We used an artificial climate control facility, to provide a temperature 3℃ higher than the normal average temperature during the ripening stage. Although the maximum rate of starch synthesis was increased at high temperature by approximately 11%, the starch content was decreased, because the period of starch synthesis ended 4 days earlier. As in the case of starch synthesis, the expression of genes related to starch synthesis was increased at the early ripening stage in the high temperature treatment, however, the duration of expression tended to decrease rapidly. Furthermore, the partitioning rate of assimilation products in the panicle increased to a greater extent in the high temperature treatment than in the control. In contrast, for the stem and leaf, the partitioning rate of assimilation products decreased more rapidly in the high temperature treatment than in the control. On the basis of these results, it can be considered that the translocation rate of assimilation products increased to a greater extent in the high temperature treatment than in the control at the early ripening stage. These results indicate that the decrease in grain weight at high temperature during the ripening stage is attributable to an increase in the speed of starch synthesis at high temperature, but the increase in ripening speed does not compensate for the shortening of the ripening period. Finally to develop varieties and cultivation techniques suited to high temperature, we need to focus on physiological characteristics related to the duration of starch synthesis.

        The mutants of sugary-2 (su-2), floury (flo), shrunken-1 (shr-1), and dull-1 (du-1) were crossed to waxy (wx) to produce F2 seeds. Chi-square analysis on the segregating ratio of the F2 seeds revealed that flo, su-2, and shr-1 were independently transmitted with wx, while wx was epistatic over du-1. The floury and sugary-2 were crossed to Hwasunchalbyeo, a waxy variety, and then the F4 of floury-waxy and sugary-2-waxy seeds were developed, respectively. As the parents phenotypes of sugary-2 and floury, the grains of these two lines showed lower hardness and grain weight than normal grain of Hwacheongbyeo. For alkali digestive value (AVD), the sugary-2-waxy showed lower ADV than Hwacheongbyeo. For the gel consistency of grain flours, the floury was medium like Hwacheongbyeo, while those of the sugary-2, floury-waxy, and sugary-2-waxy were soft like Hwasunchalbyeo. The amylose contents in the grains of the sugary-2 and floury were decreased to ~15% whereas that of Hwacheongbyeo was 19.1%. All the lines showing waxy endosperm (Hwasunchalbyeo, floury-waxy, and sugary-2-waxy) showed less than 4% amylose contents. Interestingly, the free sugar content in the brown rice was increased to 9.27% in the sugary-2-waxy, showing transgressive segregation phenomenon where the free sugar contents in its parents, sugary-2 and Hwasunchalbyeo, were 5.98% and 3.98% respectively.
