Recently, there has been frequent shortage of expansion joint in expressway bridges. When that happens, maintenance budgets will be overloaded and not effective, so it is not easy to come up with a solution. In this study, we introduce a bridge inspection system that combines laser image sensing technology and automatic control technology, which have been recently applied in various fields. And this system was developed to measure bridge extension joints while traveling more than 80km/h.
The number of expressway structure management is continuously increasing, and the aging of structures is proceeding rapidly. In order to secure the safety of expressway structures, we propose improvement methods such as advancement of structure management system, lifetime improvement methods such as prevention of structure deterioration, and the preemptive reflection of the structure maintenance budget.
Early alarm system is to detect slope movement before its collapse for road manager to respond quickly. In this paper, alarm criteria for this system is suggested when vibration and angle sensor are used.
In this study, field survey was carried out on reinforced earth retaining wall located on the expressway, and the damage type was classified and basic data about the state evaluation method was prepared
It is necessary to improve the structure inspection system that integrates various new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and the internet of things, which are core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution in oder to cope with continuously increase in the number of structures and to maintain efficient maintenance against aging.
This study is a method to improve the reliability and effectivity of maintenance. It is necessary to build the integrated management system of BIM throughout the design, construction and maintenance of the structure. In order to apply BIM, it was introduced structural record management from the design stage. And It helps to improve the reliability of maintenance.
In this study, hydrological safety vulnerability assessment on dam facilities was estimated using dams' hydrological safety evaluation result and in-depth inspection assessment result and considering climate change scenario. Hydrological safety assessment of the existing dam was performed by calculating the pmp/pmf using the climate change scenario. Using the results, Multi-Criteria Decision Making was used for vulnerability ranking decision on dams, and assessment scores and weights of hydrological safety evaluation considering climate chage were applied as payoff matrix and weight coefficient. In this study, it was evaluated vulnerability ranking that hydrological safety evaluation of existing dam considering climate change.
Based on its geographical and climatic characteristics, Gang-won area is exposed to poor freezing environment such as many snow and freezing days, so several problems occur in the maintenance of lining and roads. Therefore, it is essential to develop a technology to reduce the freezing damage of road tunnel entrance and exit in cold region. In order to secure the quality and performance of the new technology and to improve the understanding of practitioners, it is necessary to establish construction guidelines and maintenance plans for continuous condition and performance management. In this study, to develop construction manual and maintenance manual, Delphi survey was conducted for experts in tunnel field to derive construction and maintenance indices. And its results will be used to develop a process for safety management and rehabilitation considering the characteristics of cold region.
Recent development in North Korea has heighted the security situation in Northeast Asia region. Also, the discussion and interest relation to reunification of the government and academia including korean people have been actively developed. Therefore, this study should asserts the needs and plan of infrastructure improvement in the Korean Peninsula. Accordingly, The purpose of this study is as follows; First, it investigate the current status for the civil structures facility including the main infrastructures of North Korea. Second, it estimate on the risk and technology level of Infrastructure Based on questionnaire and interview refugees of North Korea.
In this study, to improve prevention system against disasters for marine bridges, the related references of marine bridges were analysed. As a result, the guideline of prevention facilities against disasters for marine bridges was proposed. This study will be referred for establishing related standards.
In this paper, it is described for the technology trends of Durability Health Monitoring (DHM) using sensors and monitoring Methods. Specially, the chloride ion penetration sensor, carbonation depth sensor, corrosion sensors for embeded rebar and wireless sensor monitoring system is described in order to enhance the durability of buildings and infrastructures.
The main cause of corrosion in reinforced concrete is diffusion of degradation factors such as chloride ions, carbon dioxide, and sulfate ions. To monitor the extent of the corrosion in reinforced concrete, it is necessary to recognize and track the diffusion of degradation factors. In this paper, we suggest thin-film iron sensorto measure the penetration of chloride ions. The sensor indicates results as electrical resistance and change in electrical resistance. The sensor and contact pad are connected by an anisotropic conducting film (ACF) bonding in order to reduce the influence of the contact electrical resistance. The sensor’s electrical resistance increases with corrosive behavior and external chloride ion concentration. Use of these thin-film iron sensors enables measurement and monitoring of the depth of chloride ion diffusion in concrete.
With recent increasing interest from both safe society expectation and technological advancement in fields of sensors, microelectonics, and wireless communication, nondestructive monitoring technologies based on wireless solutions have been researched in many structures for construction performance evaluation and infrastructure durability inspection. To support robust wireless monitoring system, there are still technical barriers to overcome, such as low power consumption, battery-less operation, robust wiress communication and small system size. In this paper, recent research trends and challenges in infrastructure durability monitoring technology with wireless communication will be reviewed.
