In seismic design, the approximate natural period equation is defined differently for each country. Korea is currently using what is prescribed by KBC 2016. The natural period is a physical quantity related only to the stiffness and mass of the structure. If the mass is constant, the natural period is inversely proportional to the square root of the stiffness. In this study, the main objective is to evaluate the lateral force capacity inherent in the current approximate natural period equation. To grasp seismic performance, it is necessary to know the lateral resisting force of the structure. In order to know the lateral resisting capacity, the analytic model buildings were designed to have the exactly same as approximate natural period specified in the current standard, and nonlinear push-over analysis was performed. From the analysis results, the base shear coefficient and roof drift angle etc were discussed and evaluated.

In this study, The recent national interest is focused on the welfare of the people, and new projects in the construction sector are being reduced, and the aging of infrastructure is not getting attention. In domestic case, most of the infrastructures were built in the 1970s to 1980s, and the road extension is also steadily increasing. Therefore, the costs to bridge maintenance from around 2010 by a similar route to that of advanced countries are also 4 times And it is time to pay attention to maintenance as well as construction. Therefore, a study was carried out on the valuation method considering bridge condition evaluation, which is a part of BIM library building and assembly program development. The proposed value evaluation method will be used as an index of the existence of bridges by comparing the cost required for maintenance and reinforcement of the target bridges and the costs required for dismantling and disposal in the bridge management system of the future program

In order to solve the limitation of the long span arch structures, a numerical analysis was carried out to investigate the effects of embedded trench installation technique to the earth pressure of an underground arch-rib shaped structure. For the arch-rib shape, the parabolic curve and the circular shape were analyzed according to the span-rise ratio varying from 0.1 to 0.5. The finite element analysis program, ABAQUS (2016), was used to consider the soil - structure interaction. The results from the analysis was verified through comparison with the existing Geofoam application technique.

Construction of irregular-shaped concrete structures requires a lot of time and money. To reduce the cost and time, the F3D(Free-Form Formwork 3D Printer) technology was adopted in manufacturing EPS(Expanded Polystyrene) formwork for irregular-shaped concrete structure. To design EPS formwork precisely, lateral pressure acting on irregular-shaped formwork and deformation of EPS form liner should be evaluated. However, in current Korean formwork standard, there are no standards for irregular-shaped formwork as it includes a lot of complex variables. For this reason, several researchers developed 3-dimensional finite element analysis model to calculate lateral pressure exerted by fresh concrete. In this study, deformation of irregular-shaped EPS formwork and lateral pressure acting on formwork was examined using finite element analysis model.

Long-span marine bridges are generally designed as long-span bridges in order to secure the running route of the ship and reduce the cost and time of the bridge pier construction. In long-span bridges, the range of load resistance transmitted by the superstructure and cable is determined by the mast and foundation. In the other words, the range of designable span length would be determined by the mast and foundation condition. The floating bridge is a type in which the superstructure is supported by the force of buoyancy without the pier mounted on the seabed so that the buoyancy of the floating bridge is balanced by the dead load and buoyancy of the structure. As a technique to overcome the weakness of existing long span bridges, it is possible to consider the type of cable supported bridges with floating tower. In this study, according to the tendon arrangement and initial tension distribution, the static global performance of the long-span bridges with floating tower were evaluated.

Crack in concrete surfaces is one of the earliest signs of decomposition of the essential structure and constant exposure will cause serious damage to the structure and environment. In most of the safety assessment and fracture mechanic applications proposed that these cracks and defects eventually will grow and will have potential lead to in-service failure. Currently, non-destructive methods are getting popular in the field of inspecting defects in structure and one of them in trends is that using the thermographic image to detect hidden effects. However, the accuracy of the thermal camera, also called resolution, is highly dependent on camera variables such as lens, detector, sensitivity etc. Also, the most important question that needs to be answered for this research is what happens to the image in fog, rain or other climatic conditions where the camera detects crack which exceptionally smaller than most thermographic applications detects. This paper investigates the accuracy of thermal images obtained by the thermal camera under various weather condition and aims at providing information about optimum choice of environmental condition where the more favorable thermal images can be obtained and increase survey reliability and accuracy of the analysis.

The first instrumental earthquake observation in Korea was started in 1905 by installing mechanical seismometers at the Incheon Observatory. Since then, the largest earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8 has occurred in Gyeongju in 2016. The seismic data on the Gyeongju earthquake are provided in the form of Mini Seed from the Korea National Earthquake Comprehensive Information System (http://necis.kma.go.kr/). In this study, it is aimed to understand the response characteristics of Gyeongju seismic waves. The response spectra of El Centro, Taft and the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake are compared and analyzed. In the response spectrum analysis, the acceleration response and the energy response were mainly considered.

In this study, the long-term performance of FRP Hybrid Bar made by hybridizing FRP (Fiber Reinforced Polymer) with ordinary reinforcing steel bars was experimentally examined as a part of the development of alternative materials for RC (reinforced concrete) structures especially located in marine or harbor areas. In order to evaluate the field exposure of the FRP Hybrid Bar, the specimen was prepared and the corrosion behavior was evaluated by letting the specimen exposed to the field conditions in the west coast of South Korea. The purpose of this study is to provide important data as a material countermeasure to reduce corrosion of reinforcing steel in future marine port concrete structures based on the results obtained through this study.

The office building more than 3,000㎡ of the total floor area should be needed to improve the energy efficiency based on government's recommendation. In this study, the new composite panel with structural function is conducted to check the thermal conductivity for application of exterior wall. The thermal transmittance was calculated by dynamic analysis to consider the thickness of insulation only per locations based on design criteria. The simulation program for the analysis was used TRISCO Radcon module, which has a function of a steady-state 3-dimensional heat transfer analysis.

In this study, several tests such as liquid limit test, compaction test, and XRF analysis were conducted on silty sand (SM) containing air to investigate the saturation collapse phenomenon due to flow liquefaction, which can result to the increase of the saturation degree and water content. The relationship between the flow strength and water content of the test material, which was artificially prepared by mixing Saemangeum dredged soil and water at different mixing ratios, was investigated to determine the strength variation caused by intergranular flow. When silicon dioxide (Si02) and water react with each other, energy is generated from capillary phenomenon and the attractive force between particles increases from 10% to 20% due to matric potential. The maximum flow resistance is maintained at the range of 20% to 30% water content, which is larger than the optimum water content obtained from the compaction test, so that flow resistance is greater in the region where the maximum shearing force is significantly high. However, if the water content is increased to more than 30%, the flow resistance is significantly low.

The contemporary high-tech structures have become enlarged and their functions more diversified. Steel concrete structure and composite material structures are not exceptions. Therefore, there have been on-going studies on fiber reinforcement materials to improve the characteristics of brittleness, bending and tension stress and others, the short-comings of existing concrete. In this study, the purpose is to develop the estimated model with dynamic characteristics following the steel fiber mixture rate and formation ration by using the nerve network in mixed steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC). This study took a look at the tendency of studies by collecting and analyzing the data of the advanced studies on SFRC, and facilitated it on the learning data required in the model development. In addition, by applying the diverse nerve network model and various algorithms to develop the optimal nerve network model appropriate to the dynamic characteristics. The accuracy of the developed nerve network model was compared with the experiment data value of other researchers not utilized as the learning data, the experiment data value undertaken in this study, and comparison made with the formulas proposed by the researchers. And, by analyzing the influence of learning data of nerve network model on the estimation result, the sensitivity of the forecasting system on the learning data of the nerve network is analyzed.

본 논문은 샤르피 충격 실험을 사용하여 실리카 퓸 시멘트 페이스트의 내 충격성에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 일반 페이스트 및 개량 된 페이스트의 시편은 물-결합제 비가 0.5로 제작되고, 실리카 퓸의 비율은 각각 바인더 사용량의 5% 및 10%로 선택되었다. 내 충격성은 3일, 7일 및 28일에 V 노치 시험편을 사용한 샤르피 충격 실험에 의해 얻어졌다. 28일의 실험결과는 실리카 흄을 포함한 시멘트 페이스트의 충격량이 58 %까지 증가하였다. 실험 결과로 부터 시멘트 페이스트의 에너지 흡수 능력을 향상시키기 위해 실리카 퓸을 사용하는 것이 효과적임을 알 수 있다.

In this paper, four point bending tests were carried out to analyse flexural strengthening effect by CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) layers for I shape PFRP (Pultruded Fiber Reinforced polymer) flexural member retrofitted with CFRP sheet. Comparing load-displacement relation and sectional stress distribution, the flexural strengthening effect by the number of CFRP layers was founded.

In this paper, the result of application of this simple method of vibration analysis developed by the author, to the special orthotropic plates with variable cross-section, and with a pair of opposite edges simple supported and the other pair of opposite edges free is presented. This problem represents the simple-supported single span bridge system without effective longitudinal edge beams. The effect of concentrated point mass/masses is also studied.

Almost all buildings and infrastructures made of advanced composite materials are fabricated without proper design. Unlike airplanes or automobiles, prototype test is impossible. One cannot destroy 10 story buildings or 100-meter long span bridges. People try to build 100-story buildings or several thousand meter long span bridges. In order to realize "composites in construction", the following subjects must be studied in detail, for his design. Simple method of analysis, Folded plate theory, Size effects in failure, and Critical natural frequency. Unlike the design procedure with conventional materials, his design should include material design, selection of manufacturing methods, and quality control methods, in addition to the fabrication method. In this paper, folded plate theory are presented for practicing engineers.

Beam bracing is applied to prevent the relative displacement of the top and bottom flanges or to effectively control the twisting of the section, and the lateral stability of the beams are provided by lateral bracing, torsional bracing or a combination of both. Modular steel I-girders are laterally interconnected by torsional bracings that are installed to increase the resistance to lateral torsional buckling. In this paper, numerical parametric study was carried out by varying the crossbeam web height to examine the effects of the web torsional stiffness. Three-dimensional finite-element analysis using the commercial finite element software ABAQUS was obtained for the parametric numerical analyses of a series of feasible two-girder models, and the failure mode, lateral-torsional buckling strength and the moment-displacement behavior of the main girders was determined.

Since the 2010 year, an occurring number of grand scale earthquakes which above magnitude 5.0 have increased in the world. Many types of research that deal with reducing the damage to the structure from a large-scale earthquake have proceeded. A system which could mitigate strong vertical earthquake's acceleration might apply to structure, since big earthquake cases that occurred lots of loss in Tokyo and Kobe of Japan. A plenty of bearings have installed to mitigate vibration but many parts of these lack efficient ability what we want. In addition, former vertical isolation bearings to apply for the structure have both price and size limits according to material characteristics. Therefore, this paper proposes a new type of device that is made by utilized engineering plastic and improves hitherto used vertical isolation bearing's fault.
