        The use of Rehmannia glutinosa of the family Scrophulariaceae, in traditional medicine is well known. This study was conducted to elucidate the effect of air curing of the seed rhizome of R. glutinosa on its storability and yield. Methods and Results: The root of the R. glutinosa cultivar (Dagang) was harvested in at the end of November. The seed rhizomes were air cured for one to seven days. They were subsequently wrapped with newspaper and further stored in a plastic container at 1℃. It was observed that the weight loss and decay rates were significantly lower in the air cured seeds than in the untreated ones. Moreover, the decay rate of the control was approximately 50%, 120 days after storage. However. the decay rate of all the air cured treatment groups was less than 1%. Additionally, air curing led to an increase in the germination rate of the seeds and the root yield when compared with the untreated groups. Taken together, the ideal treatment period for air curing was found to be 3 days. Under these conditions, the germination rate and yield were 88.7% and 2,185 ㎏/10a, respectively. Conclusions: This study successfully demonstrated that the air curing of seed rhizomes can lead to a considerable increase in the storability and yield of R. glutinosa.

        Background: Angelica gigas Nakai is a perennial herb belonging to the family Umbelliferae. Its roots are utilized in traditional medicine. The aim of this study was to increase the yield of and the content of two indicator components (decursin and decursinol angelate) in A. gigas Nakai. Methods and Results: The roots of A. gigas Nakai were harvested 4-times from late August to late October in 2017. Two agents (trace element-TE, and plant hormone-HM) were applied 4 times at intervals of 2 weeks. The content of the two indicator components were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography. The HM treatment showed the greatest increase in underground part yield and root diameter. The content of the two indicator components in the control (non-treatment) group was the highest in the underground part, but was higher in the aerial parts in the agent treatment group. After treatment with the agents, the content of the indicator components tended to decrease in the underground part. However, the total content of the indicator components in the two agent treatment groups exceeded the level of 6% set by the Korean Pharmacopoeia. Conclusions: The highest underground part yield was found in the HM treatment group, while the highest content of decursin and decursinol angelate were found in the control group. This study provides basic information for yield improvement in A. gigas.

        Background: This study was carried out to determine the best time for collecting ginseng berries without reducing the ginsenoside- Re content of ginseng roots, which are used as food, medicine, or cosmetic materials. Methods and Results: The test variety of ginseng used in this study was is Chunpung, which was collected from a 4-year-old ginseng field. Ginseng berries were collected at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 56 days after flowering. The number of berry bunches per 1.62㎡ ranged from 43.4 to 61.4, while the weight of berries per 1.62㎡ was the greatest when they were collected 49 days after flowering. The root fresh weight per 1.62㎡ was increased by 0.21 - 1.00 ㎏ compared with that before the test, but root weight gain was decreased as the berry collection time was delayed. Total ginsenoside content of 4-year-old ginseng was the highest when berries were collected 7 days after flowering, while the ginsenoside-Re contents was the highest when collection was done 14 days after flowering. Conclusions: The most suitable period for ginseng berry collection was proposed to be from 14 to 21 days after flowering, as this is when the content of ginsenoside-Re, which is useful as a medicinal or cosmetic material, is still high and the ginseng root has not yet decreased in weight.

        Background : Ginseng root rot is a devastating disease caused by the fungus, Ilyonectria mors-panacis that generally attacks younger roots (-2 years), leading to defects in root quality, ginsenoside accumulation and also life cycle of the plant. Hence, there is an indispensable need to develop strategies resulting in tolerance against ginseng root rot. The protective role of silicon during pathogen infestation is well documented in other plant systems and a previous study demonstrated that silica nanoparticles are absorbed and accumulated more than the bulk silica in maize. However, the role of silica in ginseng-root rot pathosystem is unknown. Methods and Results : In the present study, we evaluated the effect of silica nanoparticles (N-SiO2) in Panax ginseng during I. mors-panacis infection. Long term analysis (30 dpi) revealed a striking 50% reduction in disease severity index upon 1 mM and 2 mM treatment of N-SiO2. However, N-SiO2 did not have any direct antifungal activity against I. mors-panacis. Candidate genes and metabolites based approach revealed jasmonic acid (JA) mediated sterol accumulation and incresed ginsenside biosyntesis as the key transcriptional reprogramming events orchestrated by N-SiO2 during the fungal infection. Conclusion : In a nut shell, N-SiO2 administration induces transcriptional reprogramming in ginseng roots, leading to increased phytosterol and ginsenosides synthesis resulting in enhanced tolerance against I. mors-panacis.

The two indicator components were analyzed by HPLC. HM treatment group showed the greatest increase in underground part yield and root diameter. The content of two indicator components in underground part were highest in control (non-treatment) group, but the content of elicitor treatment groups were higher in the aerial part. In the ground part of indicator components content tended to decrease in the elicitor treatment groups, but that groups exceeded the total content of indicator components level of 6% set by the Korean Pharmacopoeia. Conclusion : The highest underground part yield was found in HM treatment group. The highest decursin and decursinol angelate were found in control group. This study provides the basic information for improvement to yield of A. gigas.

        Background : Anemarrhena asphodeloides has efficacy such as anti-fungal, anti-cancerous, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, Anti-UV etc. Metal nanoparticles are used for photo imaging, cancer resection and drug delivery etc in medical field. Therefore A. asphodeloides nanoparticles will be expected better efficacy for therapeutic properties in medical field. Methods and Results : The water extract of A. asphodeloides mediated the synthesis of Aa-AgNPs and Aa-AuNPs. Their characterized by several physicochemical techniques such as UV-Vis spectrophotometry, FE-TEM, EDX spectroscopy, SAED pattern, DLS size analysis, XRD analysis, and FTIR analysis. Both Aa-Ag/AuNPs were evaluated for cytotoxicity towards 3T3-L1, A549, HT29 and MCF7. Aa-AgNPs and Aa-Au NPs were found to be spherical, face-centered cubic nanocrystals with hydrodynamic diameter of 190 and 258 ㎚. In vitro cytotoxic analysis revealed that up to 50 ㎍/㎖-1 concentration Aa-Au NPs did not exhibit any toxicity on 3T3-L1, HT29 and MCF7 cell lines, while being specifically cytotoxic to A549 cell line. On the contrary, Aa-Ag NPs displayed a significantly higher toxicity in all cell lines specially MCF7 cell line. ROS generation was not affected by Aa-Au NPs, but Aa-AgNPs has a higher potential to induce oxidative stress in A549 cells than HT29 and MCF7 cells. Aa-Au NPs have the potential for anticancer agent during lung cancer treatment. Aa-AgNPs is also exhibited to inhibit cell migration by induce oxidatie stress. Conclusion : The Aa-Au/AgNPs might have the anticancer potential and might be effective in the lung cancer therapy, however further evaluation is must needed.

        증강현실(AR) 게임 유행과 함께, 게임 유저들이 게임 중 지역 사회에 각종 피해를 발생키고, 이에 대해 게임 회사 책임을 묻는 새로운 유형의 민사 분쟁이 발생하고 있다. 이 같은 분쟁은게임을 하지 않는 제3자들에게도 피해를 끼친 점에서 기존 게임 상 분쟁과 다르다. 본 글은 해외 분쟁 사례들을 살펴보고, 무단침입, 생활방해, 부당이득과 같은 피해 유형, 관련 국내외법과판례들을 분석한다. 정리 결과, AR 게임 피해 사실만으로는 게임 회사에 법적 규제나 손해배상을 가하기 힘들다. 사전적 규제는 헌법상 과잉금지 원칙 위반 여부, 사후적 규제는 기존 법상의방해 유형, 게임과 피해 사이 인과 관계, 피해의 구체성과 지속성 등을 검토해 결정해야 한다.

        모바일은 새로운 커뮤니케이션 수단을 넘어서 일상이 되어가고 있으며 현대정치 문화에서도 모바일을 활용한 홍보는 필수적인 요인이 되어 있다. 많은 정치 후보자들이 선거 캠페인 문화 및 전략에 있어 모바일을 비중이 높은 홍보수단으로 활용하고 있지만 이에 비해 모바일을 활용한 정치 광고에 대한 연구가 부족한 것이 현실이다. 특히 모바일을 활용한 문자메시지 홍보는 현대 정치 문화로 자리 잡아 가고 있으며, 이에 따라서 좀 더 정교하고 유권자들의 호감을 이끌어낼 수 있는 모바일 메시지 활용이 필요한 시점임을 알 수가 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 배경 하에 모바일을 활용한 정치 후보자들의 문자메시지에 대한 인게이지먼트 요인들이 유권자 반응에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 연구를 진행하였다. 기존 선거에 사용되었던 문자메시지를 수집 분석해 상호 이해형, 조작형, 정보 전달형으로 나누고 선거권이 있는 전국 남녀 120명을 통해 인게이지먼트 속성(만족, 유익성, 주목성)이 유권자 반응에 미치는 영향을 서베이를 통해 분석해 보았다. 분석결과 첫째, 상호이해형 메시지에서 후보자태도에 영향을 미치는 요인은 만족과 유익성이고 투표의향에 영향을 미치는 요인은 만족인것으로 나타났다. 둘쨰, 조작형 메시지에서는 만족과 유익성 요인이 후보자 태도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고 투표의향에 영향을 미치는 요인은 만족과 주목 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 정보 전달형 메시지에서는 만족과 유익성 요인은 후보자 태도에, 만족과 주목성 요인은 투표의향에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 인게이지먼트 요인이 메시지 유형별로 유권자 반응에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구는 효과적인 메시지 운용 전략을 펼칠 수 있으며, 한 두표 차이로 당락이 결정되기도 하는 선거에서 향후 더 발전적이고 정교한 선거 캠페인 문화에 실무적 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
