        This study estimated the status of dietary intake of 258 children from ages 3 to 6 living in Seoul and analyzed the correlation between the degree of children's nutrition awareness and dietary intake, to provide some basic informations on nutrition education program for their health promotion. Average height and weight of the children were 110.5 cm and 19.7 kg. And their body mass index was 16.2 and obesity index was 6.5%. Proportions of carbohydrate, protein and fat to the total calorie intakes were on the average 55.8%, 15.6% and 28.6%. Calorie intake proportion of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack were 20.9%, 21.9%, 22.3% and 34.9%. In protein intake, proportion of animal and vegetable protein was 1.4, in fat intake pattern, P/M/S ratio was 1.2/1.2/1.0. As a consequence of analyzing the correlation between children's nutrition awareness and dietary intake, children of high awareness degree to the food value did not intake much calorie and carbohydrate, and did not choose cereals and starches, condensed fat food. As a result, dietary intake of pre-school children showed very good but partially showed a problem of over and under nutrition in quantity or in quality we hope that the result of this study could be helpful for the nutrition education program for the health and nutrition of the pre-school children.

        The awareness of the nutrition labeling of 82 food producers and 668 government officials was assessed and compared, from May to June in 1994, to that of consumers. Compared to 82.4% of cosumers, 48.1% of producers and 47.8% of officials answered that nutrition labeling is necessary. 48% of producers expected a modest food price rise, but 70% thought food sales would not be affected with nutrition labeling. While being worried about the regulatory difficulties and the increased work load given the inadequate implementation of the current food labeling system due to insufficient personnel, 50.2% of officials wanted the new nutrition labeling system to be introduced within 1~2 years. Contrary to the general dissatisfaction with the system and the lack of confidence in it on the part of consumers, producers thought that they currently provide sufficient food information for consumers, and that consumers had much confidence in it. Producers and officials were more found worried about consumers' inadequate understanding and inactive use of the system in contrast to the widespread and welcome support on the part of consumers. But it was fully agreed by all that education and awareness is crucial for the successful implementation of nutrition labeling system.

        Consumer awareness of current food labeling system and new nutrition labeling system which the government considers to adopt widely was assessed, from May to June in 1994, for 423 adults living in Seoul. Being highly conscious of food safety, they thought the current food label did not provide sufficient information. Dissatisfaction with the current system was shown higher in the female, young, or unmarried strata. The need for nutrition labeling system was widely recognized by 82% of total respondents regardless of sex, level of education, monthly income, and marital status. Although some expressed worries about proper management of the system, most of the respondents answered that the system would benefit them after all. In this connection, 59% of the respondents showed willingness to accept a price increase to be entailed by nutrition labeling. Nutrition informations that, they thought, should be covered were: calorie>minerals>cholesterol>protein>vitamins>fat>sodium. Additional labeling informations they called for were nutrient contents>RDA percentage>specific statement on reinforced or eliminated nutrients.

        A study has been performed on the cockroach knowledge and perception of managers, employees and consumers, and the cockroach control management in food service institutions. A total of 759 subjects including 101 managers, 293 employees and 365 consumers was surveyed in Seoul and Pusan areas from July 1994 to September 1994. The results obtained are as follows: The mean rates of the cockroach knowledge (i.e. 62.26/100.0) and perception (i.e. 23.67/30.0) of the consumers were significantly (p<0.001) lower than those of the managers (i.e. 68.87/100.0 and 25.30/30.0, respectively) and the employees (i.e. 69.09/100.0 and 26.99/30.0, respectively). In the cockroach detection rates, however, much higher rate was seen in the consumer group (i.e. 79.5%) than the manager (i.e. 43.3%) and the employee (i.e. 48.5%) groups. Forty and seventy percents of the subjects have suffered from allergies and nuisance by cockroaches, respectively. The cockroach control was performed by 75.5% of the food service institutions and 70.8% of them contracted with pest control operators to reduce the cockroach populations. The cockroach control methods of the operators were aerosol (40.7%) and insecticidal baits (30.5%). Only 33.7% of the institutions had the budgets for the cockroach control. For public health, the managers and the employees of the institutions need to be educated about cockroaches and hygiene. Also, it is suggested that cockroaches be regularly controlled by professional pest control operators.

        The consumers' concept and the acceptability of ginger and its processed product were surveyed by premade questionnaire. A total of 447 questionnaires were collected from housewives, restaurant managers and related processors at 7 regions in Korea. The 40.6% of total responsors reacted ginger as spice was necessary for food preparation by flavor(87.5%). The most difficulties of using ginger were peeling and washing(89.8%). The raw ginger purchased for their use was only utilized less than 70% of 46.5% and 50% of 21.3% of total responsors respectively. The processed and convenient style spices including ginger were accepted by 72.8% of qestionnaires and 76.9% of them hoped to have ginger paste. Such a convenient ginger products were more welcomed by younger generation than older.

        The objectives of the present study were to assess the preschool-children's awareness of nutrition, their level of control over foods and involvement in food-related activities and to examine the interrelationships among these variables. The children of this study demonstrated low levels of awareness of the concepts of food groups and the roles of both foods and exercise in energy balance. But the degree of children's awarences about the concepts of food transformations, food origins and food values was favorable. The range of possible scores was 0 to 18, while the range of the children's scores was 2 to 16. The mean score was 9.3, represently 52% of the questions answered correctly. Factors associated with the children's involvement in food-related activities were children's age, familly's income and mother's dietary balance. Children who were more involved in food related activities had significantly higher nutrition awareness scores.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate housewives' perception, interest and consumption of organic food, and to identify the variables influencing on them. The sample was selected from 411 housewives living in Seoul from 1st of September to 20th of September in 1993. Used statistical methods were frequency, percentage, mean, Cronbach's α, factor analys, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, t-test, correlation, regression analysis and Path analysis. The major results are as follows: 1) Housewives' perception degree of organic food in its variety, easy availability and contribution to health was relatively high level, but price level, reliability and packing condition was somewhat low level. Out of housewives' many images of organic food, taste health care, quality and necessity factors can be implicated. 2) Housewives' interest degree of organic food is somewhat high level 3) Housewives' consumption degree of organic food was relatively low level and was affected by their perception of oraganic food. 4) Frequency to use seasonings was the major independent variable which influenced to housewives' perception degree of organic food, while recognition on enviornmental contamination was the major independent variable which influenced to their interest degree of organic food, and their total perception on organic food was the major independent variable which influenced to their consumption degree of oragnic food. Therefore, it is considered that their total perception to it can decide the demand of organic food 5) Housewives' perception and interest degree of it was the major intervening variable which influenced to their consumption degree of oragnic food.

        오늘날 국가간의 경제활동의 활발해짐에 따라 무역마찰의 문제가 끊임없이 대두되고 있다. 무역마찰의 주 원인이 동일 기업활동에 대해 불공정(Inequity)을 지각하는 정도에 있어 국가간 차이가 있기 때문이라고 볼 때 공정성차원에 있어 국제간(Cross-Cultural)비교는 시사하는 바가 크다할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 일본에서 이미 수행된바 있는 일본, 미국경영자들의 공정성 인식의 차이에 관한 연구를 한국경영자들에게 까지 확대적용(Replication)해 봄으로써 실제 이들 국가간에 공정성 인식에 차이가 있는지 알아보고 그 원인을 문화적차원에서 규명해 보고자 했다. 연구결과 공정성 인식에 있어 한. 미. 일 경영자들간에 상호 유사점과 상이점이 존재한다는 것이 밝혀졌다. 이와같은 결과는 무역마찰의 해소의 방안으로써 각 국가의 경영자들이 국가간에 존재하는 상이한 문화체계를 인정하고 이를 이해하고자하는 노력이 필요하다는 점을 시사해 주고 있다.

        대두(大豆)-근류균(根瘤菌)의 공생(共生)에서 숙주식물(宿主植物)의 Root Exudate에 대한 근류균(根瘤菌)의 화학주성(化學走性)이 근류형성(根瘤形性)(숙주식물(宿主植物))에 미치는 영향(影響)을 밝히기 위해 연구(硏究)한 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 대두(大豆) Seed Lectin은 품종간(品種間) 차이(差異)가 없었으며 분자량(分子量) 120,000정도(程度)의 4개(個)의 동일(同一)한 subunit를 가지는 물질(物質)이며, Pea Seed Lectin은 분자량(分子量) 44,000정도(程度)이며 15,000과 7,000정도(程度)의 두 종류(種類)의 subunit를 가지는 물질(物質)이며 대두(大豆) lectin은 표준 lectin 항체와 침강선을 형성하였다. 그러나 완두의 lectin은 표준 lectin과 항원-항체반응이 없었으므로 두 lectin은 동일 항원이 되지 않아 서로 다른 물질이었다. 팔달의 Crude Root Exudate에 대(對)한 근류균(根瘤菌)의 화학주성(化學走性) 비(比)는 KCTC 2422는 각각(各各) 3.5이고 LPN-100은 1.4이며 LCR-101은 각각(各各) 1.4이었다. 뿌리분비물의 각 fraction에 대한 근류균의 화학주성은 중성분획이 가장 높고 양성분획이 그다음이며 음성분획이 가장 낮은 화학주성을 나타내어 각물질에 대한 근류균의 친화도에 차이가 있었다. 근류형성(根瘤形性)의 정도(程度)는 KCTC 2422의 경우(境遇)는 접종(接種)후 7日경부터 Nitrogenase Activity가 나타났으며 LCR-101는 15일 이후(以後)에 Nitrogenase Activity를 나타내었다. LPN-100은 Nitrogenase Activity가 전혀 나타나지 않아 근류균(根瘤菌)의 화학주성(化學走性)이 숙주인식과정(宿主認識過程)에 영향(影響)을 미쳤음을 확인(確認)할 수 있었다.

        지리산국립공원 노고단지역의 방문목적은 정상정복과 등반이었으며, 이용횟수가 클수록 등반을 선호하였다. 전체탐방객 중 37%가 국립 공원지정을 모르고 있었으며, 78%가 자연탐방지역으로 인식하지 못한다. 성삼재 관통도로 개통 후 지리 산국림 공원의 탐방객 수는 개발전보다 약 2.1배 (260만명)증가했고. 노고단 탐방객 수는 약 7배 (26만 4천명)증가하였으며, 노고단 탐방객의 약 80%가 성삼재를 경유한 차량 이용객이었다.

        치악산 국립공원의 이용자특성은 남자가 64.7%, 20대 (20~29세) 72.5%. 고졸이상의 학력소지자가 95%이었다. 탐방의 특성을 보면 치악산이 갖고 있는 좋은점을 계곡의 물, 자연경관, 나무 및 숲 등으로 나타내고 있는 자연공원적인 성격과 체류기간에 있이 일일 방문객이 75.5%로 근린공원적인 성격을 갖고 있으며, 또한 탐방목적에 있어서는 피크닉행태와 유원지적 위락행태가 동시에 나타나고 있다. 활동장소의 특성은 계곡의 물가를 찾거나 등산을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 이용객이 가장 많은 구룡사 계곡의 경우 오전 10시에 입장객이, 오후 5시에 하산객이 최고에 달하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서, 치악산 국립공원은 자연공원적 성격의 등산행태와 근린공원성격의 행락행태, 도시근교의 유원지적 행태를 고려하여, 주변 자연경관과의 기능적인 상충성을 충분히 고려한 관리방안이 필요하다.
