예이츠 극 『쿠훌린의 죽음』의 극작법은 관객이 호메로스를 연관지어 생각하게 끔 하면서 민족주의의 효과를 고취시키는 역할을 한다. 그러나 늙은 남자의 나레이션, 이머의 춤, 길거리 가수의 노래, 대비되는 이미저리의 배치와 성격묘사를 통해 전통적으로 애국심을 고취시키는 극작법에서 벗어난다. 본 논문은 예이츠의 그만의 독득한 극작법을 통해 어떻게 민족주의를 고취시키는지 알아본다.

It is a general phenomenon for manufacturers to provide vertically differentiated product line for more profit through improved market coverage. For such manufacturers, the compatibility between vertically differentiated products is an important decision issue. Some manufacturers provide full compatibility between high and low version products, whereas some provide only downward compatibility for the purpose of recommending high version product. In this study, the two representative compatibility strategies, full or downward, between vertically differentiated products produced by a single manufacturer are analyzed, especially under network externality and in the viewpoint of profit maximization. To do this we used a market model which captures the basic essence of vertical differentiation and network externality. Based on the proposed market model, the profit maximizing solutions are derived and numerically analyzed. The results can be summarized as follows : (1) Regardless of compatibility strategy, under network externality, vertical differentiation is always advantageous in terms of profit. (2) The full compatibility strategy is shown to be the most advantageous in terms of profit. In addition, it is necessary to make quality difference between differentiated products as wide as possible to maximize profit. (3) To gradually drive low version product out of the market and shift the weight pendulum of market to high version product, it is shown that the downward compatibility strategy is essential. Unlike intuition, however, it is also shown that in order to drive low version product out of market, it is necessary to raise the quality of the low version product rather than to lower it.

In this paper, an analytical model is developed for electrical conductivity of nanocomposites, particularly polymer/carbon nanotubes nanocomposites. This model considers the effects of aspect ratio, concentration, waviness, conductivity and percolation threshold of nanoparticles, interphase thickness, wettability between polymer and filler, tunneling distance between nanoparticles and network fraction on the conductivity. The developed model is confirmed by experimental results and parametric studies. The calculations show good agreement with the experimental data of different samples. The concentration and aspect ratio of nanoparticles directly control the conductivity. Moreover, a smaller distance between nanoparticles increases the conductivity based on the tunneling mechanism. A thick interphase also causes an increased conductivity, because the interphase regions participate in the networks and enhance the effectiveness of nanoparticles.

아일랜드 문학사에서 가장 영향력 있는 작가들로 손꼽히는 와일드와 예이츠는 인생에 있어서는 공통점이 많지는 않으나 『살로메』나 『그림자 드리워진 바다』 에서 나타나듯 사랑의 철학에 대해서는 많은 공통점이 있다. 주인공들의 사랑에 대한 태도는 자신감 있고 위압적인 전형적인 또는 전통적 “남성적” 행동양상으로 나타난다. 예이츠의 극에서 포겔의 태도는 마법에 의존할 수 있기 때문에 부드러운 양상으로 나타나는 반면 와일드의 극에서 살로메는 마법에 의존할 수 없기 때문에 사랑에 빠진 사람이 생각해낼 수 있는 가장 잔인하고 기괴한 방식으로 나타난다. 본 논문은 두 작가의 작품들 『살로메』와 『그림자 드리워진 바다』에서 사랑을 표현하는 데 있어서 미학적 접근이 어떻게 유사하게 나타나는지 알아본다.

Cross model correlates the dynamic complex viscosity of polymer systems to zero complex viscosity, relaxation time and power-law index. However, this model disregards the growth of complex viscosity in nanocomposites containing filler networks, especially at low frequencies. The current paper develops the Cross model for complex viscosity of nanocomposites by yield stress as a function of the strength and density of networks. The predictions of the developed model are compared to the experimental results of fabricated samples containing poly(lactic acid), poly(ethylene oxide) and carbon nanotubes. The model’s parameters are calculated for the prepared samples, and their variations are explained. Additionally, the significances of all parameters on the complex viscosity are justified to approve the developed model. The developed model successfully estimates the complex viscosity, and the model’s parameters reasonably change for the samples. The stress at transition region between Newtonian and power-law behavior and the power-law index directly affects the complex viscosity. Moreover, the strength and density of networks positively control the yield stress and the complex viscosity of nanocomposites. The developed model can help to optimize the parameters controlling the complex viscosity in polymer nanocomposites.

예이츠의『모래시계』에서 오랜 세월 동안 한 번도 강한 반대가 없었던 현자의 무신론적 가르침이 전면에 내세워진다. 예이츠의 바보는 현자의 죄를 부각시키는 중요한 역할을 하는 인물이다. 우둔하면서도 사악하지는 않지만 이기적인 역할을 극 전반에 걸쳐서 일관되게 보여주는 예이츠의 바보 인물은『리어왕』에서 셰익스피어의 바보 인물 보다 더 단순하게 표현된다. 셰익스피어의 바보가 리어왕을 위해 하듯 예이츠의 바보는 현자를 위해 관객의 연민을 자아내는 역할에 기여하지는 않는다.

Network externalities are essentially dynamic in that the value consumers feel about a product is affected by the size of the existing customer base that uses that product. However, existing studies on network externalities analyzed the effects of network externalities in a static way, not dynamic. In this study, unlike previous studies, the impact of network externalities on price competition in a vertically differentiated market is dynamically analyzed. To this end, a two-period duopoly game model was used to reflect the dynamic aspects of network externalities. Based on the game model, the Nash equilibria for price, sales volume, and revenue were derived and numerically analyzed. The results can be summarized as follows. First, if high-end product has strong market power, the high-end product vendor takes almost all benefits of the network externality. Second, when high-end product has strong market power, the low-end product will take over most of the initial sales volume increase. Third, when market power of high-end product is not strong, it can be seen that the effects of network externalities on the high and low-end products are generally proportional to the difference in quality. Lastly, if there exists a strong network externality, it is shown that the presence of low-end product can be more profitable for high-end product vendor. In other words, high-end product vendor has incentive to disclose some technologies for the market entrance of low-end product, even if it has exclusive rights to the technologies. In that case, however, it is shown that the difference in quality should be maintained significantly.

예이츠의 ｢캘버리｣는 코러스를 흥미롭게 사용하고 있는 예수 수난극으로 독특한 극이다. 예이츠는 적정수준으로 코러스 사용의 전통적인 방법에 의존하지만 전통적인 코러스 사용 방법 보다는 노래와 사건들이 긴밀하게 연결되어 있다. 노래에서 새의 형상화는 극의 세계에서의 주관성과 객관성에 대한 해석에 새로운 차원을 제공한다.

본 논문은 예이츠에 관한 새로운 논문쓰기를 논의한다. 최근 획기적인 저서 『W. B. 예이츠와 세계문학: 시의 주제』가 간행되었다. 이로써 학자들이 지금까지 연구된 예이츠 작품에 대해 숙고해볼 기회가 된 것이다. 저자 배리 쉴즈는 근래에 문학이론을 활용하여 국가간 문학공간시학이 예이츠와 그의 작품에 어떻게 작동하는 지 보여준다. 이 시학은 (포스트)모더니즘적 독법으로 주로 그의 산문읽기에 적용하며, 부분적으로는 시와 희곡을 읽는다. 이러한 새로운 시학적용은 다면적인, 큐비스트적인 예이츠와 그의 작품의 면모 중 일부에 대한 이해의 폭을 깊고 넓게 확대시킬 것이다.

예이츠는 『부활』에서 예수 그리스도의 이야기를 독특한 방식으로 전개 한다. 기독교도와 비기독교도로 구성된 두 종교의 무리로 이루어진 예이츠의 평행 구조의 사용은 종교와 역사에 대한 그들의 다른 생각을 서로 연결 지어 보여주기 위한 것이다. 극 중 노래는 각 무리의 서로 다른 이야기들이 실제로 공유하는 것이 무엇인지 생각할 수 있도록 해 준다. 예이츠가 『부활』을 집필 할 때 노드라마의 요소를 사용하면서 춤 보다는 노래가 가지는 의미에 더 중점을 둔 것으로 볼 수 있다. 처음, 중간, 끝 부분에 노래의 삽입은 노드라마의 영향을 받은 예이츠의 극의 특징이기도 하다. 그러나 음악의 사용이 무대의 처음과 끝의 장식이라는 의미보다는 더 큰 역할을 한다. 노래는 극의 주요 사건들이 내포하는 의미를 밝히는 데에 중요한 장치이다.
