This study aimed to investigate the effects of voice recording as a speaking assignment on Korean EFL nursing students’ speaking confidence and perceptions of speaking assignment. The participants of the study were 22 nursing students who took college English course and were divided into two groups. One was an experimental group performing voice recording assignment for speaking practice during 5 weeks and the other was a control group that did not receive treatment by the researcher. Speaking confidence questionnaire and in-depth interview were used to collect the data in this study. The result of this study showed that there was some statistically significant achievement of the participants’ speaking confidence after speaking assignment of voice recording performed by them. In addition, the participants had positive reaction to the experience of the assignment. This suggests that voice recording assignment encourages students to have their speaking confidence and helps them to overcome speaking difficulties in EFL environment.
LiCl-KCl 용융염에서 광학적으로 투명한 텅스텐 망으로 제작된 작업전극에 대해 사마륨의 전기화학적 거동을 Cyclic voltammetry와 Potential step chronoabsorptometry의 전기화학적 및 분광전기화학적 방법으로 조사하였다. Cyclic voltammogram 으로 결정된 Sm3+/Sm2+의 산화환원 반응의 가역성을 기반으로 형식전위와 확산계수를 계산하여 각각 –1.99 V vs. Cl2/Cl- 와 2.53×10-6 cm2·s-1를 얻었다. 작업 전극에 –1.5 V vs. Ag/AgCl (wt%)로 전압을 인가하여 측정한 Chronoabsorptometry 를 통해 사마륨 이온의 특성 파장으로 Sm3+에 대해 408.08 nm, Sm2+에 대해 545.62 nm를 확인하였다. Voltammogram에서 얻은 환원 피크 전압과 산화 피크 전압을 이용하여 Potential step chronoabsorptometry를 수행하였다. 545.63 nm의 흡광 피크 값을 분석하여 2.15×10-6 cm2·s-1의 확산계수를 얻었으며 이 값은 동일한 온도에서 Cyclic voltammtry 분석으로 얻은 값과 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 실험결과로부터 고온 용융염에서 광학적으로 투명한 작업전극을 이용한 분광전기화학적 방 법이 용융염에 용해된 이온의 종류를 확인하며 전기화학적 거동을 조사하는데 유용한 도구로 활용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.
PU flame-retardant coatings (APHD) containing phosphorous were prepared by blending of hexamethylene diisocyanate-trimer, white pigment, dispersing agent, flowing agent, and previously prepared benzoic acid modified polyester (APTB) that contains phosphorous. Physical properties of the prepared APHD were examined. With the introduction of BZA (contained in APTB), the film viscosity and film hardness of APHD decreased. With the introduction of caprolactone group, the flexibility, impact resistance, accelerated weathering resistance of APTBs increased. Flame retardancy of the coatings was tested. In a vertical burning method, APHD shows 210~313 seconds, and in a 45˚ Meckel burner method, shows 1.3~4.0cm2 of char length, which indicates that the coatings are good flame-retardant coatings. Moreover, the amount of afterglow and flame retardancy of the coatings are decreased with increasing BZA content.
Reaction intermediates PCP/BZA (PBI) and tetramethylene bis(orthophosphate) (TBOP) wer synthesized from polycaprolactone (PCP) and benzoic acid (BZA) and from pyrophosphoric acid and 1,4-butanediol, respectively. Benzoic acid modified polyesters containing phosphorus (APTB-5, -10, -15) were synthesized by polycondensation of the prepared PBI (containing 5, 10, 15wt% of benzoic acid), TBOP, adipic acid, and 1,4-butanediol. The structure and characteristics of APTBs were examined using FT-IR, NMR, GPC, and TGA analysis. The increase of the amount of BZA in the synthesis of APTBs resulted in decrease in average molecular weight and kinematic viscosity. From the TGA analysis of APTBs, it was found that the afterglow decreased with the amount of BZA content at the high temperatures.
Organic acid salt of fatty polyamide (DDDT) and acrylate of fatty carbamide (DDTCA) were synthesized as a main component for the softener. O/W type non-ionic softener (NSC) was prepared by blending DDDT and DDTCA with beef tallow, lanolin anhydride. polyoxyethylene(7) stearyl ether, and polyoxyethylene(50) oleyl ether. After treatment of NSC to all cotton fabrics, the physical properties such as tear strength, crease recovery, and flexing abrasion resistance were measured. As a result of the measurement, NSC was proved to be durable non-ionic softener with good softness.
Alkaline powder cleaning agents (APCAs) were prepared by blending of Na2CO3 tetrasodium pyrophosphate (TSPP). sodium orthosilicate (Na-OSi), Na-dioctyl sulfosuccinate (303C), Demol C, and MJU-100A (100A). The physical properties of APCAs tested with steel specimen showed the following results. The cleaning powers of APCA-6 (Na2CO3 250g/TSPP 70g/Na-OSi 40g/303C 60g/Demol C 50g/100A 30g mixture) for press-rust preventing oil was 97% and 98% degreasing at 2wt%, 70℃ and 90℃, respectively; for Quenching oil, the cleaning power of APCA-6 was 95% degreasing at 2wt% and 70℃. From the results, it was ascertained that APCA-6 exhibited a good cleaning power. Also low foaming power tests proved that the APCA-6 maintained good defoaming effect.
Bacteriological quality evaluations were carried out for rice rolled in laver(Kimbab), Hamburger, Walnut cake and Chinese noodle (Jajangmyun), which were on sale in April and May 1995, in May and July 1997 and in January 1999, at 20 different resting places on Kyung-Bu, Ho-Nam, Joong-Bu and Young-Dong Highway in Korea. Food poisoning bacteria were not detected. However numerous coliform bacteria were dectected saying that the sanitary condition of foods on sale at resting places of the highways was not hygienic. There exited 8.8 × 10⁴∼6.6 × 10^5 cells/g of coliform bacteria in all the Kimbab sold in 1995. As for Hamburger, 1.8 × 10²∼4.7 × 10⁴ cells/g of coliform bacteria proliferated in all the samples. In 1997, E. coli was found in 16 cases and 21 cases respectively out of 22 Kimbab samples, Hamburger dealing at 7 resting places out of 14 were contaminated with 1.7 × 10²∼1.9 × 10^7 cells/g of coliform bacteria and Hamburgers dealing at 2 resting places were infected by E. coli. In contrast to the Kimbab and Hamburger, all the 6 Walnut cake samples were free from the microbial pollution exhibitory that their hygienic condition was satisfactory. 3 samples out of 6 Jajangmyun were contaminated by 7.1 × 10²∼2.0 × 10³cells/g of coliform bacteria, but E. coli was not detected. Compared Kimbab sold in 1995 and 1997 with 1999, Kimbab sold in it can be said that hygienic control for Kimbab should be performed more strictly during hot season than during cold season. Walnut cake was the safest against microbial contamination, followed by Jajangmyun, Hamburger and Kimbab in decreasing order, indicating that foods with mixed ingredients such as Kimbab and Hamburger were more susceptible to microbial infection, so that a more systematic safety control is needed for such foods during cooking, processing and distribution.
