This study aimed to provide fundamental data that could guide high school students' night eating behavior by investigating habits of their night eating consumption during COVID-19 pandemic (From 2021/5/13 to 5/20). Association between their eating habits and the Nutrition Quotient for Korean Adolescents (NQ-A) were also explored. This study included a total of 604 students, among whom 441 students were identified as night eating consumers. Among all subjects, 30.5% consumed night eating 3~4 times a week, 27.3% consumed 1-2 times a week, and 27.0% did not consume any night eating at all. The high-night eating group had a higher score of total NQ-A than the non-night eating group for both male (p<0.05) and female (p<0.001) students. This was because male students in the high-night eating group reported significantly higher rates of daily dinner consumption compared to non-night eating group. Furthermore, both male (p<0.05) and female (p<0.001) students showed a significant increase in ‘Moderation’. ‘Diversity’ was also significantly increased in female studies (p<0.05) as subcategories of dietary habits according to night eating frequency. These findings highlight the need for practical research to develop nutritional guidelines for night eating that reflect preferences of students while providing adequate nutritional habits.

This study was conducted to develop a Han-sik database as well as to assess the effects of Han-sik on dietary quality among Koreans. The Han-sik database was developed by a focus group composed of food and nutrition specialists considering the results of Han-sik perception surveys conducted in previous studies for frequently consumed dishes. Among the 1,322 dish items identified in the 4th (2007-2009) Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHANES), 973 items (73.6%) were classified as Han-sik. Han-sik usage was defined as the percentage of Han-sik items of all individually consumed dish items in the dietary data of 22,113 subjects who participated in a 24-hour diet recall in the 4th (2007-2009) KNHANES. Dietary quality was evaluated based on adherence to the Korean Food Guidance System (KFGS), which was calculated as the percentage of the number of servings consumed in each food group out of recommended servings according to age and sex. Mean usage of Han-sik was 80.1% and was higher in older age groups, rural areas, as well as in households at the lowest income level. Han-sik usage was also higher on weekdays as well as for breakfast. Adherence to the KFGS was significantly higher for grains, meat · fish · egg · beans, vegetables, and fruits (p<0.001) but lower for milk · dairy products and oils · fats · sugars (p<0.001) across the quartiles of Han-sik usage. The results of this study indicate that Han-sik usage is high among Koreans. Further studies are needed to update the Han-sik database as well as investigate the association between health-related factors and Han-sik use.

In the present study, we investigated the effect of 70% EtOH extract from Hippophae Rhamnoides L. leaves (HRL) on the anti-obesity effect in 3T3-L1 cells. The effects of HRL on lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 cells were examined using Oil Red O staining. In addition, we examined the gene expression levels by using RT-PCR and western blot. The results of this analysis showed that 100 ㎍/㎖ HRL significantly increased the inhibition of lipid accumulation by 82.25%; significantly decreased the mRNA expression of sterol regulatory element binding protein-1c (SREBP-1c), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ), CCAAT/enhancer binding proteins α (C/EBPα), and fatty acid synthase (FAS) in 3T3-L1 cells as well as the stimulated protein expression of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK); and suppressed the expression level of PPARγ. These results suggest that HRL can prevent adipogenesis through activation of AMPKα and inhibition of adipogenesis transcription factors.

This paper is introduced to construction and operation of the BMS(Bridge Management System) for structure management of long-span bridge. one of the best long span bridge for marine bridge in korea is Incheon bridge. Incheon bridge have applied to BMS for bridge management from construction period to operation and management period. Incheon Bridge during the bridge life cycle by taking advantage of the BMS systematic and efficient inspection management system is available that can extend the life of the bridge by building bridges and management history, and during the operation

This study investigated the changes of antioxidant activity and α-glucosidase inhibitory effect of Jerusalem artichoke (Helianthus tuberosus) 100% methanol extracts by various heat treatment. The contents of total phenolic and flavonoid compounds in methanol extract tended to increased gradually with the rise of temperature to 180℃. The maximum yield of gallic acid (51.52 ± 2.17mg/g extract weight) and quercetin (13.39 ± 0.03mg/g extract weight) were obtained with extraction temperature of 180℃ for 120min. In addition, the improving extraction efficiency resulted in the increased biological activities, such as electronic donation ability (EDA, 90.36± 0.57%), reducing power (Abs 1.14) and α-glucosidase inhibitory effect (92.14 ± 1.14%). Overall, the results of this study indicate that the optimum conditions for the extraction process were an extraction temperature at 180℃ for 120 min, and will provide the basis for future research on the improving extraction yield of phenolic and flavonoid compounds.

In this study, we investigated antioxidant capacity and determined the phenolic and flavonoid contents using each of various solvent conditions from fermented Rhus verniciflua stem bark (F-RVS). Each extracts displayed markedly similar content of extraction yield. However, M80 extract showed a significantly higher antioxidant activity in comparison to other extract investigated. M80 exhibited strong DPPH radical scavenging activity with RC50 value of 10.5±1.4μg/ml, reducing power value 1.04 Abs (concentration of 1 mg/ml), and anti-lipid peroxidation activity value of 94.6% (concentration of 10 mg/ml). M80 extract showed the high content of total phenolic (319.7 mg GAE/ml extract) and total flavonoid (111.6 mg QE/ml extract). Phenolic and flavonoid compounds showed significant relationship in DPPH radical scavenging (R2=0.911 and 0.912, each extract) and reducing power (R2=0.903 and 0.837, each extract) from fermented R. verniciflua stem bark. However, antilipid peroxidation activity (R2=0.589 and 0.441, each extract) was not significant like DPPH radical scavenging and reducing power. Therefor the result indicated that the potential antioxidant activities and functional values were ovserved significantly at M80 solvent condition from the fermented R. verniciflua stem bark.
