        2019년 3월 27일 경기도 고양시 일산동구 장항동에 위치하는 일산호수공원에서 일광욕 중이던 외래거북 한 개체가 발견되었다. 발견된 개체의 배갑 색, 배갑 중앙의 무늬, 머리 옆면의 무늬, 등껍질의 형태를 근거로 서부비단거북 (Chrysemys picta bellii)임이 확인되었다. 근처에는 서부비단거북이 아닌 외래거북들이 일광욕하고 있었다. 본 논문에서는 국내 야생에서 처음으로 확인된 서부비단거북의 관찰 사례를 보고하였다. 다양한 외래거북들이 국내 생태계에서 지속적으로 발견되고 있으나 그 실태가 잘 알려지지 않고 있다. 따라서 외래생물의 효과적인 관리를 위해서는 지속적인 조사와 보고가 있어야 할 것이라 판단된다.

        According to the statistics of the last five years, fishing vessel accidents accounted for about 80% of collisions of all ships and has led to many casualties. To prevent collision accidents, it is important to assess the collision risk potential related to the sailing characteristics of fishing vessels. The authors represented the traffic patterns of vessels that sail around Wando waters based on Automatic Identification System (AIS) and Radio Detecting and Ranging (RADAR) data. The authors analyzed the statistical near miss data between fishing vessels and non-fishing vessels in the Wando Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) area and assessed the risk of ship collisions. From this research, the authors identified waters with a high risk of ship collisions. The analyzed results can be used as basic data to develop collision prevention strategies which aides the decision making and efficient operation of VTS officers (VTSO.)

        This study was to establish the floristic composition of resources vascular plants of Mt. Yongmunsan (1,157m). This work was investigated during the April to September in 2009. Resources vascular plants were composed of 97 families, 267 genera, 351 species, 4 subspecies, 38 varieties and 7 formae, total 400 taxa. Among the investigated resources plants, 11 taxa (2%) were Korean endemic species. The special plants based on floral region by Ministry of Environment were 39 taxa; V grade species 1 taxa, IV grade species 3 taxa, III grade species 6 taxa, II grade species 9 taxa and I grade species 20 taxa. A naturalized plants were 23 species, correspond to 7.93% of total 290 species appeared in South Korea.

        Anaerobic mesophilic batch tests of food waste and food waste leachate collected from food waste treatment facility were carried out to evaluate their ultimate biodegradability and two distinctive decay rate coefficients (k1 and k2) with their corresponding degradable substrate fractions (S1 and S2), respectively. Each 3 liter batch reactor was operated for more than 60 days at substrate to inoculum ratio (S/I) of 0.5 as an initial total volatile solids (TVS) mass basis. Result of Ultimate biodegradability of 74 ~ 83% for food waste and 85 ~ 90% for food waste leachate were obtained respectively. The readily biodegradable fraction of 85 ~ 93% (S1) of food waste Biodegradable Volatile Solids (BVS, So) degraded within the initial 15 days with a range of of 0.151 ~ 0.168 day−1, whereas the rest slowly biodegradable fraction (S2) of BVS degraded for more than 53 days with the long term batch decay rate coefficients of 0.009 ~ 0.010 day−1. For the food waste leachate, the readily biodegradable portion (S1) appeared to be 92 ~ 94% of BVS (So), which degrades with of 0.172 ~ 0.206 day−1 for an initial 15 days. Its corresponding long term batch decay rate coefficients were 0.005 ~ 0.009 day−1. It is recommended that the hydraulic retention times of mesophilic anaerobic digesters be 16 days for the food waste and 15 days for the food waste leachate, respectively. However a safety factor should be considered when designing a full scale plant.

        A simple in-situ biomethane system to upgrade biogas was developed by using differential solubility of biogas which normally contains 35-45% carbon dioxide (CO2) and 55-65% methane (CH4) by volume. The biomethane system consists of mesophilic plug-flow sorghum digester coupled with a leachate recycle loop to an external CO2 stripper. The leachate produced in the mesophilic plug-flow digester flows to the stripper where dissolved CO2 is removed. Then the leachate that CO2 was completely stripped out is recycled back to the plug-flow reactor, resulting in absorbing CO2 and enriched CH4 contents in digester offgas from the mesophilic plug-flow digester. Offgas CH4 contents was correlated well with leachate recycle rates and alkalinity. To maintain a biogas methane content over 95%, 3 volume of leachate recycle per volume of reactor per day(3 v/v-d) and at the reactor alkalinity of 4 g/L as CaCO3 was required. Even at an intermittent stripping ratio up to 3 hours stripping(N2 sweep gas 700 ml/min) and 1 hour no-stripping, the offgas methane content over 95% was achieved. It thus resulted in a 25% reduction in the total energy and sweep gas consumption. The TVS removal efficiency of the biomethane system was 80 percent which corresponded to 96% of the control reactor. The leachate recycle rates directly affected methane productivity that appeared to be 0.71 v/v-d at 3 volume of leachate recycle per volume of reactor per day(3v/v-d) and at the reactor alkalinity of 4 g/L as CaCO3.

        Efforts were made to identify the optimum operational condition of Semi-continuously Fed and Mixed Reactor (SCFMR) to treat the dairy cow manure and saw dust mixture. Step-wise increase in organic loading rates (OLRs) and decrease in hydraulic retention times (HRTs) were utilized until the biogas volume became significantly decreased in SCFMR at mesophilic temperature (35oC). The optimum operating condition of the SCFMR fed with TS 15% dairy cow manure and saw dust mixture was found to be at HRTs of 30 ~ 35 days and its corresponding OLRs of 3.5 ~ 4.3 kgVS/ m3-day. The optimum ranges of biogas and methane production rates were 1.36 ~ 1.47 volume of biogas per volume of reactor per day (v/v-d) and 1.0 ~ 1.14 v/v-d, respectively. This result was due to the high alkalinity concentration of SCFMR fed with the original substrate, dairy cow manure and saw dust mixture whose alkalinity was more than 10,000 mg/L as CaCO3. The parameters for the reactor stability, the ratios of volatile acids and alkalinity concentrations (V/A) and the ratio of propionic acid and acetic acid concentrations (P/A) appeared to be 0.07 ~ 0.09 and 0.38 ~ 0.43, respectively, that were greatly stable in operation. The Total Volatile Solids (TVS) removal efficiency based on the biogas production was 39 ~ 45% at the optimum HRTs. Free ammonia toxicity was not experienced at above 160mg/L due to the acclimation of high concentration of ammonia by the high reactor TS content above 9.0%.

        The shortwave aerosol direct radiative forcing (SWARF) was analyzed using the Clouds and Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) data in the East Asian region from 2001 to 2010. In the Yellow Sea and the Korean Peninsula, located in the leeward side of China, significantly negative high SWARF at the top of atmosphere (TOA) occurs due to the long-range transport of anthropogenic (e.g. sulphate) and natural aerosols (e.g. mineral dust) from the East Asian continent. Conversely, eastern China has much higher levels of SWARF at the surface (SFC) due to anthropogenically emitted aerosol than in the Yellow Sea and the Korean Peninsula. Since the radiative forcing of aerosols in the atmosphere are different in type, aerosol types were classified into sea salt+sulphate, smoke, sulphate and dust by using satellite data. The analysis on the SWARF by the classified aerosol types indicated that sulphate occupies a predominant portion of the atmosphere in the Yellow Sea and the Korean Peninsula in the summer. In particular, the annual averages of the summer TOA SWARF increased in the Yellow Sea and the Korean Peninsula from 2001 to 2010.
