        The effective management of insect pests requires decisions based on monitoring information. In this study, we aimed to monitor insect species diversity and monthly occurrence patterns on the golf course using light traps. Sampling was conducted at Anyang Country Club, Korea, from May to October 2023. A total of 5,149 individuals were collected, with Lepidoptera and Coleoptera being the most abundant orders. Among them, there were six species (Agrotis ipsilon, Blitopertha orientalis, Heptophylla picea, Maladera orientalis, Parapediasia teterrella, and Spodoptera depravata) of insect pests that caused serious damage to the turfgrass. The results of this study could be used as data to establish efficient management strategies for turfgrass insect pests.

        Urbanization is one of the leading causes of habitat loss, habitat degradation, and fragmentation. Urban development negatively affects biodiversity. This study aimed to clarify the change of butterfly communities on effect of urbanization in urban green areas. Butterfly survey was conducted using the line transect methods from April to October in 2012. A total of 59 species and 1,465 individuals of butterflies were observed in four urban green areas: Namsan Park (NS), Ewha Womans University (EW), Bukseoul Dream Forest (BD), and Hongneung Forest (HF), and natural forest: Gwangneung Forest (GF). The category of land use around study site was determined based on GIS data. Species richness and abundance of niche breadth and habitat type in urban green areas differed significantly from those in GF. Estimated species richness and species diversity (H’) in four urban green areas were significantly lower than those in GF. Species richness and abundance of forest interior species and specialist were positively correlated with paddy, field, and forest, whereas those of forest interior species and specialist were negatively correlated with urban area and road. Butterfly communities in four urban green area differed from that in GF. The result suggests that the decrease of paddy, field, and forest associated with increase of urban area and road negatively influences species composition and changes butterfly communities.

        Ultrastructural characteristics of the germ cells and accessory cells in testis during spermatogenesis and taxonomic values of mature sperm morphology of Ruditapes philippinarum were investigated by the transmission electron microscope and scanning electron microscope observations. The testis is the diffuse organ that consists of branching acini containing developing germ cells and accessory cells associated with spermatogenesis. The morphology of the spermatozoon is of the primitive type and is somewhat different to those of other bivalves. The morphologies of the sperm nucleus type and the acrosome shape of this species have a cylinderical type and a modified cone shape, respectively. As some ultrastructural characteristics of the acrosomal vesicle, the peripheral parts of two basal rings show electron opaque part, while the apex part of the acrosome shows electron lucent part. These characteristics of sperm belong to the family Veneridae in the subclass Heterodonta, unlike a characteristic of the subclass Pteriomorphia showing all part of the acrosome being composed of electron opaque part. In particular, a cylinder-like nucleus of the sperm is curved. The spermatozoon is approximately 48-51 μm in length, including a long acrosome (about 2.40 μm in length), a curved sperm nucleus (about 3.40 μm in length), and a tail flagellum. The axoneme of the sperm tail shows a 9+2 structure.

        In vitro culture of panicle has been the method to accumulate starch and protein in immature grains by providing nutrients after florets crossed between remote genotypes artificially. Grain filling means embryo development and sucrose translocation from photosynthetic source, and starch manufacture in endosperm. The concentrations of sucrose used to culture immature rice panicle were 5, 10, 15, 20% and glutamine was 20 mM. When immature rice panicles at 5 days after flowering were cultured in distilled water with different concentrations of sucrose, glutamine 20 mM and MS medium with different concentrations of sucrose, glutamine 20 mM for 30 days the later was effective on grain filling. The optimal concentration of sucrose on grain filling in vitro culture of rice panicle was 10% and the weight of grain cultured was 10.14 mg that was corresponded to 57% of intact plant. In the method of treating plant growth regulators, the culture of immature rice panicle adding in MS medium with Kinetin, IAA, ~textrmGA3 were effective on grain filling than the culturing of immature rice panicle after submerging in solutions of Kinetin, IAA, ~textrmGA3 for 1day. When immature rice panicle was cultured in MS medium with sucrose 10% and Kinetin 46.47 ~mu M it was effective on grain filling, respectively. The weight of grain cultured was 13.1mg that was corresponded to 75% of intact and germination rate was 51 %. When immature rice panicles were cultured in medium with different concentrations combined with Kinetin 4.65, 46.47, 464.7 ~mu~textrmM , IAA 5.71, 57.08, 570.80 ~mu~textrmM for 30 days and in medium with IAA 5.71, 57.08, 570.80 ~mu~textrmM for 15 days after culturing in medium with Kinetin 4.65, 46.47, 464.70 ~mu~textrmM for 15 days the effect on grain filling was similar.

        Lee, Seungjin. 1999. Chaos-Complexity Theory in the Whole Language Context. Studies in Modern Grammar 15, 169-189. This paper attempts to suggest ways in which complexity theory can become a more explicit tool for understanding students` learning and design of learning processes. These are remarkably consistent with whole language approach in schools. Although complexity theory is based on mathematics and physics, many of these principles are equally relevant to a second language learning situation. Now that complexity theory is in its third decade in the West, and has been evolving, it seems that the time is right for a fuller look at the language teaching principle offered by chaos-complexity theory in the field of a second language learning. This paper reviews complex adaptive systems theory through neuroscience and brain research to learning theory and practice. The complexity theory originated not in linguistics but in the mathematical field, and it is interesting to observe that both complexity theory d whole language theory having taken different routes, came to many of the same conclusions about teaching students. Both complexity theory and whole language theory show a very high agreement on issues such as method, approach, affect, effect, role of the teacher, psychological needs of the language learner, and the philosophy of engaging the learner beyond the cognitive domain. By looking at the chaos and complexity theory for learning process, I discuss that learning occurs at the edge of chaos through equilibrium, whole-brain involvement, and "risk-taking". Finally, it seems that complexity and whole language theory affirm the recent shift toward a richer, more open, and more comfortable environment as the most effective way in which educators can optimize the natural human capacity for the learning process.
