        In this paper, the method of vibration analysis for calculating the natural frequency is presented. This method is a simple but exact method of calculating natural frequencies corresponding to the modes of vibration for the cantilevered composite materials conical beam. The influence of natural frequency of the cantilevered composite materials conical beam is presented. This method may be extended to stability analysis of complex structureal elements.

        This study investigates the trend on application technologies of advanced composite materials and outlook on research development to the challenges associated with innovative applications of advanced composite materials in construction: 1) initiation of new construction materials; 2) development of rehabilitation techniques for aging infrastructural systems; 3) implementation of greener construction approaches; and 4) introduction of multifunctional advanced composite materials. This fundamental investigation will assure wide field implementation of advanced composite materials in construction.

        Nowadays, advanced composite material are widely used in civil & architectural structures. Analysis of foam core sandwich bridges for simple supported made by advanced composite materials is presented in this paper. For the design of advanced composite materials bridge, foam core shape is economical and profitable. Navier’s solutions are compared in this paper to verify the authenticity of Finite Difference Method. Finite Difference Method is used for analysis of the pertinent problems. In this study, reduction rate of tensile strength for E-glass fibers due to increase in size, strength reduction ratios of according to mass, stress changes according to form core height and safety ratio due to increase form core height is presented. Tasi-Wu failure strength theory are used. Strength reduction is necessary for safe design of a structures.

        Theories of advanced composite structures are too difficult for such field engineers and some simple methods are necessary. In this paper, Simple method of vibration analysis is presented. This method presented in this paper is studied self-weight and other loads. The result of the 2~3 times iteration is good enough for field engineering purposes. In the case of cantilevered composite materials beams with different cross section, increase of mass near the support does not significantly affect the vibration characteristics. As a calculations of the simple method of vibration analysis for cantilevered composite materials beams with different cross section, it is noted that the result of the second cycle at the point of free end (actually 5L/6 span) is only 2.2% away from the ‘exact’ solution.

        Composite materials consisting of pure aluminum matrix reinforced with different amounts of graphite particles are successfully fabricated by mechanical ball milling and spark plasma sintering (SPS) processes. The shrinkage rates of the composite powders vary with the amount of graphite particles and the lowest shrinkage value is observed for the composite with the highest amount of graphite particles. The current slopes of time increase with increase in the amount of graphite particles whereas the current slopes of temperature show the opposite trend. The highest thermal conductivity is achieved for the composite with the least amount of graphite particles. Therefore, the thermal properties of the composite materials can be controlled by controlling the amount of the graphite particles during the SPS process.

        복합재는 높은 비강도와 비강성을 가지고 있어 자동차, 항공기 등 전반적인 산업분야에서 널리 사용되는 재료이다. 우주선의 노즐 부분과 같이 높은 온도뿐만 아니라 높은 압력이 작용하는 환경에서 사용하기 위한 재료로 복합재가 필요하다. 복합재의 물성치를 아는 것은 매우 중요한데 모재(matrix)와 강화섬유(fiber) 각각의 물성치를 수치적으로 대입해 얻는 결과는 실험값과의 오차가 커 예측하는데 있어 더 정확한 방법이 필요할 것이다. 본 연구에서는 유한요소법을 이용한 EDISON용 CASAD solver 프로그램을 활용해 분석하였다. matrix와 fiber의 물성치를 대입해 복합재의 물성치를 구해 실험으로 측정된 물성치, 경험식으로 계산된 물성치와 비교를 하였다.

        분리막 시스템은 기존의 분리공정과 비교하여 우수한 효율과 낮은 가격으로 인하여 빠르게 성장하고 있다. 분리막 공정은 분리막, 모듈, 그리고 기계적 요소로 구성되어 있으며 향상된 효율을 얻기 위하여 분리막 공정에 사용되는 소재의 요 구사항 또한 증가가 되고 있다. 분리막 모듈은 분리막 시스템의 핵심 요소 중 하나로써 최근 들어 복합 소재들이 스테인레스 강 모듈과 비교하여 우수한 물성과 낮은 가격으로 인해 분리막 하우징에 적용되어 왔다. 본 리뷰에서는 다양한 종류의 유리 섬유와 이를 이용한 복합소재들에 대하여 정리하였으며 분리막 시스템에 적용을 위한 잠재성에 대하여 논의하였다.

        In this study, the effect of temperature effect of the rubber matrix filled with nano sized silica particles composites with silica volume fraction of 19–25% was investigated by the Charpy impact test. The Charpy impact test was conducted in the temperature range from –40°C to 0°C. The critical energy release rate GIC of the rubber matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles was considerably affected by temperature and it was shown that the maximum value was appeared at higher temperature between temperature tested and it was shown that the value of GIC increases as temperature tested increases. The major fracture mechanisms were matrix deformation, silica particle debonding and delamination, microcrack between particles and matrix, and/or pull out between particles and matrix which is ascertained by SEM photographs of Charpy impact surfaces fracture.

        The present study is undertaken to evaluate the effect of volume fraction on the results of Charpy impact test for the rubber matrix filled with nano sized silica particles composites. The Charpy impact tests are conducted in the temperature range 0°C and –10°C. The range of volume fraction of silica particles tested are between 11% to 25%. The critical energy release rate GIC of the rubber matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles is affected by silica volume fraction and it is shown that the value of GIC decreases as volume fraction increases. In regions close to the initial crack tip, fracture processes such as matrix deformation, silica particle debonding and delamination, and/or pull out between particles and matrix which is ascertained by SEM photographs of Charpy impact fracture surfaces.

        본 연구에서는 Montmorillonitrile(MMt)계 무기물을 이용하여 SPAES고분자에 첨가한 후 제조된 용액을 이용하여 복합막을 제조하였으며 특성평가가 진행되었다. 순수한 MMt의 경우 고분자에 첨가되었을 경우 측유의 실리케이트층 구조로 인해 메탄올 투과도는 감소하나 이온전도도가 감소되는 문제점을 가지고 있으므로 본 연구에서는 MMt를 유기화 시켜 최적화된 메탄올 투과도와 이온투과도를 가지는 무기물을 제조하고자 하였으며 최종적으로 제조된 분리막의 특성평가를 진행하였다.

        To evaluate system reliability of a composite structure consisting of more than two structural members, it is necessary to identify that the members are connected to each others in parallel or in serial. Especially for parallel composite system, it is also necessary to confirm that mechanical properties of materials for the members are brittle or ductile. For parallel system of brittle materials, if one part fails, that part cannot resist load anymore and the whole load transfers to the other part. However, for parallel system of perfectly plastic materials, if one part fails, that part can maintain the amount of its maximum load capacity and the remaining load transfers to the other part. In this study, a methodology to determine reliability index for composite structures consisting of quasi-brittle materials. By assuming quasi-brittle materials as brittle or perfectly plastic materials, the upper and lower bounds of the reliability index can be determined. The reliability index for parallel system of quasi-brittle materials is then determined by interpolating the upper and lower bounds indices using ductility number extracted from stress-strain curves of quasi-brittle materials.

        This study performed a finite element crash analysis of support structures made of various composite materials for road facilities. The effects of different material properties of composites for various parameters are studied using the finite element commercial package for this study. In this study, the existing finite element analysis of composite post structures using the LS-DYNA program is further extended to compare dynamic behaviors against car crash of the structures made of various composite materials. The several numerical examples show the comparison of the nonlinear dynamic effects for different materials.

        복합재료 구성성분은 수 마이크로미터 수준의 크기를 가지고 있으므로 시험을 통한 정확한 물성 측정이 매우 어렵다. 그러므로 본 논문에서는 역해석을 이용하여 복합재료 구성성분의 열팽창계수를 예측할 수 있는 기법을 제안한다. 복합재료에 대한 등가 열팽창계수를 예측할 수 있는 Mori-Tanaka 기법과 결합된 역해석기법을 이용하면, 라미나 수준의 목적함수를 최소화함으로써 구성성분의 열팽창계수를 효율적으로 구할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 제안한 기법을 검증하기 위하여 다양한 섬유(glass fiber, P75, P100, M55J)에 대한 열팽창계수를 예측하고 이를 시험결과와 비교하였다. 또한 라미나와 기지 물성치에 대한 불확실성이 섬유 물성치 예측에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다.

        The characteristics of abrasive wear of the rubber matrix composites filled with nano sized silica particles were investigated at ambient temperature by pin-on-disc friction test. The range of volume fraction of silica particles tested are between 11% to 25%. The cumulative wear volume and friction coefficient of these materials on particle volume fraction were determined experimentally. The major failure mechanisms were lapping layers, deformation of matrix, ploughing, deboding of particles and microcracking by scanning electric microscopy photograph of the tested surface. The cumulative wear volume showed a tendency to increase nonlinear with increase of sliding distance. As increasing the silica particles of these composites indicated higher friction coefficient.

        PURPOSES: This paper aims to give a guideline and the way to apply the advanced composite materials theory to the road structures with different cross sections to the practicing engineers. METHODS: To simple but exact method of calculating natural frequencies corresponding to the modes of vibration of road structures with different cross sections and arbitrary boundary conditions. The effect of the D22 stiffness on the natural frequency is rigorously investigated. RESULTS: Simple method of vibration analysis for calculating the natural frequency of the different cross sections is presented. CONCLUSIONS: Simple method of vibration analysis for calculating the natural frequency of the different cross sections is presented. This method is a simple but exact method of calculating natural frequencies of the road structures with different cross sections. This method is extended to be applied to two dimensional problems including composite laminated road structures.

        PURPOSES: Current theories for composite structures are too difficult for design engineers for construction. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate to the practicing engineers, how to apply the advanced composite materials theory to the road structures. METHODS: Some laminate orientations have decreasing values of D16, B16, D26 and B26 stiffnesses as the ply number increases. The plate aspect ratio considered is from 1 to 5. In order to study the effect of Mx on the equilibrium equations, two cases are considered. Mx term is considered or neglected. RESULTS: Most of the road structures have high aspect ratios, for such cases further simplification is possible by neglecting the effect of the longitudinal moment terms. CONCLUSIONS: Most of the road structures have plate aspect ratios higher than 2. It is concluded that, for all boundary conditions, neglecting the longitudinal moment(Mx) terms is acceptable if the aspect ratio (a/b) is equal to or higher than 2. This conclusion gives good guide line for design of the road structures.
