        This study investigates the utilization of existing CCTV networks for road traffic volume measurement, a key indicator of road infrastructure utility. Traditionally, traffic studies, which are costly and time-consuming, are divided into continuous or ad-hoc surveys. By leveraging current CCTV systems, the proposed method eliminates the need for new installations, conserving resources and increasing efficiency. Preliminary results indicate that this approach offers a time and cost-effective alternative for traffic assessments, with the potential to transform traditional survey techniques.

Like odors and fine dust, it is judged that noise needs to be managed by a professional manager at the workplace and managed through a database of noise information.

        Out-of-roundness is crucial for the proper functioning of individual products or parts in a machine. Mechanical components often consist of circular elements that require precise alignment. These circular parts are used in critical areas of the machine, and the shape characteristics of each component can significantly impact overall performance. In this study, we focus on a specific specimen and use three different methods - the Diameter method, Radius method, and Three-point method - to measure its out-of-roundness. The collected data is then analyzed using one-way ANOVA to propose an effective out-of-roundness measurement technique suitable for industrial settings.

        This study developed and evaluated a load cell-based automatic weighing system for the automated harvesting of laver (Porphyra tenera) in seaweed aquaculture. The current manual harvesting process was compared with the load cell-based automated system, and quantitative measurements of time, distance, and weight were conducted. The results demonstrated that the load cell-based system reduced the unloading time and increased the throughput compared to the manual method. In addition, statistical analysis confirmed that there was no significant difference from the mean in the weight measurement obtained using the load cell-based system. Based on these findings, the load cell-based automatic weighing system holds potential for efficient production and transactions in laver cultivation, contributing to cost reduction and improving the quality of life for aquaculture workers.

        The rational evaluation of carbon-based conductive ink performance is critical to both industrial production and applications. Herein, a model to evaluate writing performance of conductive ink by line resistance was proposed by investigating possible relations among different parameters and establishing relevant model to estimate ink writing performance. Bulk conductive inks were prepared and characterized to provide samples for model. To improve the precision of model, the impact of external factors including writing speed and angle was studied. Nonlinear regression and back propagation artificial neural network were employed to estimate line resistance, and cross check validation was conducted to prove robustness and precision of model. Most importantly, the investigation will open up a new path for the exploration of other carbon-based handwritten electronic devices.

        When self-disposing of radioactive waste, it is important to follow the acceptable concentration standards for each nuclide set by the Nuclear Safety and Security Commission (NSSC). Gamma-emitting nuclides can be easily analyzed with a simple pretreatment process, but beta-emitting nuclides require a chemical separation procedure to be analyzed for radiochemistry analysis. When analyzing betaemitting nuclides for the purpose of self-disposal, there may be difficulties in radiation detection after the chemical separation process. This is because the concentration of beta nuclides in the sample may be low and some of them may be lost during the chemical separation. Therefore, measurement method of gross-beta activity can be used instead of that of each nuclide to access the compliance of selfdisposal criteria. While a proportional counter is commonly used to measure gross-beta activity, liquid scintillation counting can also be used to measure gross-beta, and we plan to compare the results of both methods.

        Our research team has developed a gamma ray detector which can be distributed over large area through air transport. Multiple detectors (9 devices per 1 set) are distributed to measure environmental radiation, and information such as the activity and location of the radiation source can be inferred using the measured data. Generally, radiation is usually measured by pointing the detector towards the radioactive sources for efficient measurement. However, the detector developed in this study is placed on the ground by dropping from the drone. Thus, it does not always face toward the radiation source. Also, since it is a remote measurement system, the user cannot know the angle information between the source and detector. Without the angle information, it is impossible to correct the measured value. The most problematic feature is when the backside of the detector (opposite of the scintillator) faces the radiation source. It was confirmed that the measurement value decreased by approximately 50% when the backside of the detector was facing towards the radiation source. To calibrate the measured value, we need the information that can indicate which part of the detector (front, side, back) faces the source. Therefore, in this study, we installed a small gamma sensor on the backside of the detector to find the direction of the detector. Since this sensor has different measurement specifications from the main sensor in terms of the area, type, efficiency and measurement method, the measured values between the two sensors are different. Therefore, we only extract approximate direction using the variation in the measured value ratio of the two sensors. In this study, to verify the applicability of the detector structure and measurement method, the ratio of measured values that change according to the direction of the source was investigated through MCNP simulation. The radioactive source was Cs-137, and the simulation was performed while moving in a semicircular shape with 15 degree steps from 0 degree to 180 degrees at a distance of 20 cm from the center point of the main sensor. Since the MCNP result indicates the probability of generating a pulse for one photon, this value was calculated based on 88.6 μCi to obtain an actual count. Through the ratio of the count values of the two sensors, it was determined whether the radioactive source was located in the front, side, or back of the probe.

        This paper reports the results of an experimental examination using X-rays to test annealing materials for lapped bearing steel (STB2), to confirm the validity of the weighted averaging analysis method. The distribution behavior for the sin diagram and the presence or absence of differences in the peak method, half-value breadth method, and centroid method were investigated. When lapping the annealed bearing steel (STB2) material, a residual stress state with a non-directional steep gradient appeared in the surface layer, and it was found that the weighted averaging analysis method was effective. If there is a steep stress gradient, the sin diagram is curved and the diffraction intensity distribution curve becomes asymmetric, resulting in a difference between the peak method, half-value breadth method, and centroid method. This phenomenon was evident when the stress gradient was more than 2~3 kg/mm2/μm. In this case, if the position of the diffraction line is determined using the centroid method and the weighted averaging analysis method is applied, the stress value on the surface and the stress gradient under the surface can be obtained more accurately. When the stress gradient becomes a problem, since the curvature of the sin diagram appears clearly in the region of sin > 0.5, it is necessary to increase the inclination angle  as much as possible. In the case of a lapping layer, a more accurate value can be obtained by considering  in the weighted averaging analysis method. In an isotropic biaxial residual stress state, the presence or absence of  can be determined as the presence or absence of strain for sin≈0.4.

        In this study, measurement errors of the X and Y axes were verified by using an 80-100 mm gauge block, an NPL type angle measuring device, and a spelling on a contact-type 3D measuring device surface plate. In addition, the measurement specimen was repeatedly measured 10 times at 10° intervals from 0° to 40° to confirm the average value and standard deviation. After confirming the statistical test value (P) through ANOVA analysis of the statistical program, the correlation between angle change and error was confirmed.

        최근 3차원 영상 데이터 활용 기술이 주목받으며 레이저 스캐너, 깊이 카메라와 같은 장비를 활용하여 작물의 생육을 측정하려는 연구가 시도되고 있다. 작물의 생육 특성을 측정할 때 3차원 영상 데이터를 활용한다면 평면 데이터에서 측정하지 못한 구조와 형태 정보를 이용할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 콩의 생육 특성을 3차원 영상 데이터를 활용하여 추정하였다. 깊이 카메라를 이용하여 콩의 개화시(R1), 착협기(R3), 종실비대기(R5) 에 촬영하고 3차원 데이터로 개체의 초장과 엽면적을 추정하고 실측 값과 비교하였다. 초장 추정을 위해 평면에 투영된 개체의 무게 중심을 이용하여 원줄기의 x, y 좌표 위치를 지정하였는데 눈으로 보고 지정한 원줄기의 위치와 무게 중심 점의 x, y 좌표 위치는 높은 결정 계수를 보였다. 초장 추정의 경우 콩의 구조와 형태가 발달함에 따라 3차원 영상에서 지면으로부터 개체 상단 지점 간 거리를 이용하는 방법은 실측과 추정 값간 오차가 컸다. 엽면적 추정을 위해서 3차원 위치 값을 갖는 개체 표면 점들을 높이에 따라 분할하고 각 높이 구간의 면적을 계산하였다. 3차원 데이터 병합 과정에서 늘어난 점 개수로 인해 각 높이 구간에서 계산된 면적이 증가하였기 때문에 추정 값은 과대평가되었다. 향후 3차원 영상을 이용한 보다 정밀한 생육 조사를 위해서는 작물 고유의 생육변수 특성을 고려한 데이터 전처리 과정과 분석 방법 개발이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

        Screws are the closest and most familiar mechanical elements of everyday life, and are generally used so widely that there is no machine without screws. Screws are used to make it easier to combine objects with objects, and are also used to transfer large forces from machines. The most influential factor in the coupling of these screws is the effective diameter. If the effective diameter is not accurate, the support cannot be finished or endured, leading to a major accident. The importance of these screws cannot be ignored, so in this study, the effective diameter was measured using the three-wire method, the screw micrometer method, and the projector method, and the one-way factor design method was applied to determine the exact method compared to the KS standard.

        We established pretreatment method of solidified cement ion-exchange resin samples generated before 2003 in nuclear power plants for measurement of non-volatile radionuclide activity. A microwave digestion system (MDS) with mixed acid (HCl-HNO3-HF-H2O2) was used to dissolve cement and to desorb non-volatile elements such as Ce, Co, Cs, Fe, Nb, Ni, Re, Sr and U from mixed ion-exchange resin. The content of Ce, Co, Fe, Nb, Ni, Re, Sr, U and Cs after pretreatment of cement plus mixed ion-exchange resin was measured by ICP-AES and ICP-MS, respectively. As iron and strontium are also present in cement, their content after dissolving a certain amount of cement was measured by ICP-AES. All elements except Nb were quantitatively recovered. Especially since the Nb recovery was low at 72.0±2.5%, the MDS following addition of the mixed acid to the resin was operated once more for desorbing Nb from it. Finally the recovery of Nb was over 95%. This sample pretreatment method will be applied to solidified cement ion-exchange resin samples generated in nuclear power plants for assessment of radionuclide inventory.

        There are various types of level gauging method such as using float, differential pressure, hypersonic, displacement and so on. In this study, among them, the method utilizing the differential pressure was reviewed. The strengths include: the differential pressure type level gauge can measure the level without direct contact of the sensor with media. That is to say, the level can be measured even if the sensor is far away from the tank. And regardless of the size of the tank, the level can be measured if the pneumatic pipes are installed. The weaknesses include: the sensor needs intermedium to recognize the level. The intermedium utilizes a fluid, which is compressed air. It is difficult to handle that compressed air has the properties of a gas. And to make compressed air needs compressor, tank and pneumatic pipes. So if you have many tanks, you need to install exponentially the pneumatic pipes. As well, level measurement range is limited to the points where the pneumatic pipes of the tank is installed. And if a compressed air that supplies to the sensor leaks, uncertainty will increase. A compressed air is colorless and odorless, so it’s difficult to pinpoint the leak. Finally, events like cracks and clogging can cause inaccurate measurement. Rather than using only differential pressure, it is better to use another measurement method according to the situation of the facility.
