        I-129 is one of the imporant nuclides that must be determined in the disposal process of radioactive waste in many countries. This radionuclide emits gamma-ray and x-ray photons within the energy range of 29 to 39 keV, consequently, an x-ray detector with high resolution performance is required for the analysis of I-129 activity. An n-type coaxial HPGe detector exhibits higher efficiency characteristics compared to a planar-type HPGe detector, however, its resolution is lower than a planar type. So it is difficult to completely deconvolute and fit the gamma-ray and xray peaks in the spectrum using a general gamma-ray spectrum analysis program such as GammaVision. To address this problem, in a previous study introduced the developed algorithm for the fitting and analysis of I-129 gamma-ray and x-ray spectum by fixing their emission ratios. In this study, we improved the algorithm by considering the variation of the efficiency in the HPGe spectrum, which reflects the actual HPGe crystal condition. And algorithm tests were performed using measured I-129 sample spectra with interfering nuclides acting as background curve are introduced.

        The nuclear licensee must ensure that the nuclear or radiological emergency preparedness and response organization is explicitly defined and staffed with adequate numbers of competent and assessed personnel for their roles. This paper describes the responsibilities of medical and support personnel for the medical action of casualties in the event of a radiological emergency at the KAERI. Currently, there is one medical personnel (nurse) in KAERI, and a total of eight medical support personnel are designated for medical response in the event of a radiological emergency. These medical support personnel are designated as one or two of the on-site response personnel at each nuclear facility, operating as a dedicated team of A, B (4 people each). In the event of a radiological emergency, not all medical support personnel are mobilized, but members of the dedicated medical team, which includes the medical support personnel of the nuclear facility where the accident has occurred, are summoned. Medical and support personnel will first gather in the onsite operational support center (OSC)/technical support center (TSC) to prepare and stand by for the medical response to injured when a radiological emergency is declared. They should take radiation protective measures, such as wearing radiation protective clothing and dosimeters, before entering the onsite of a radiological emergency, because injuries sustained during a radiological emergency may be associated with radioactive contamination. In the event of an injury, direct medical treatment such as checking the patient’s vitals, first aid, and decontamination will be carried out by medical personnel, while support personnel are mainly responsible for contacting the transfer hospital, reporting the patient’s condition, accompanying the ambulance, filling out the emergency medical treatment record, and supporting medical personnel. In order to respond appropriately to the occurrence of injuries, we regularly conduct emergency medical supplies education and medical training for medical support personnel to strengthen their capabilities.

        Emerging technologies are innovative technologies currently under development or in the early stages of introduction. These technologies have the potential to impact a wide range of industries and sectors significantly and may, therefore, be subject to export controls. The list of emerging technologies subject to export controls varies from country to country and constantly changes as new technologies are developed. For example, the U.S., EU, and South Korea have responded to these changes by adding software and technologies related to artificial intelligence and machine learning to their export control lists. Nevertheless, export control of emerging technologies still presents challenges and limitations. The rapid pace of technological advancement makes it difficult for export control regulations to keep up. For export control purposes, international cooperation on information sharing and control methods is necessary for most countries to control similar items. Several new technologies in the nuclear field may be subject to export controls. These technologies include advanced reactors, nuclear fuel cycle technologies, and nuclear waste management technologies. Small modular reactors (SMRs) and fourth-generation reactors are being developed as advanced technologies, and new technologies are being developed to improve the nuclear fuel cycle. There is also active development of technologies for space applications utilizing nuclear reactors, such as the Nuclear Thermal Propulsion System and the Nuclear Electric Propulsion System. As these technologies may include new systems and items not in existing export control, they may pose a proliferation risk or may include software design know-how for advanced materials, it is necessary to consider whether and how they should be subject to export control to prevent nuclear proliferation. Overall, export controls are an essential issue in the emerging technology and nuclear energy sectors. Countries are moving toward strengthening regulations and international cooperation to overcome these challenges and ensure safe technology transfer, and South Korea should actively participate and lead this trend.

        Graphene oxide (GO) and ultrafine slag (UFS) have been applied to reinforce cement mortar cubes (CMC) in this research. The consequences of GO and UFS on the mechanical attributes of the CMC were explored through experimental investigations. Established on the results, at the 28 days of hydration, the CMC compressive and flexural strength with 0.03% of GO and 10% UFS were 89.8 N/mm2 and 9.1 N/mm2, respectively. Furthermore, the structural changes of CMC with GO and UFS were qualitatively analysed with instrumental techniques such as scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), FT Raman spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and 27Al, 29Si-Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). SEM results reported that GO and UFS formed an aggregated nanostructure that improved the microstructural properties of the CMC. TGA analysis revealed the quantum of calcium hydrate and bound water accomplished by supplementing GO bound to the UFS aggregates. FT-IR analysis of the CMC samples confirmed the ‘O-’comprising functional groups of GO which expedited the formation of complexes between calcium carbonate ( CaCO3) and UFS. 0.03% GO was the optimum dosage that enhanced the compressive and flexural attributes when combined with 10% UFS in CMC.

        Recently, a closed-type plant factory has been receiving attention as a advanced agricultural method. It has diverse advantages such as climate-independence, high productivity and stable year-round production. However, high energy cost caused by environmental control system is considered as a challenges of a closed-type plant factory. In order to reduce the energy cost, investigation about energy load which is directly connected to energy consumption needs to be conducted. In this study, energy load changes of a plant factory have been analytically analyzed according to the environmental changes. The target plant factory was a lettuce growing container farm. Firstly, the impact of photoperiod, set temperature and relative humidity change were examined. Under the climate condition of Daejeon in South Korea, increase of photoperiod and set temperature rose a yearly energy demand of a container farm. However, increase of set relative humidity decreased a yearly energy demand. Secondly, the climate environment effect was compared by investigating the energy demand under 9 different climate conditions. As a result, the difference between maximum and minimum value of the yearly energy demand showed 21.7%. Lastly, sensitivity analysis of each parameter (photoperiod, set temperature and relative humidity) has been suggested under 3 different climate conditions. The ratio of heating and cooling demand was varied depending on the climate, so the effect of each parameter became different.

        PURPOSES : In this study, energy-consuming processes in asphalt plants were evaluated, and the drying and mixing processes were characterized using a thermal equilibrium equation-based model to quantitatively estimate the amount of energy consumed during the production of mixtures in asphalt concrete plants. METHODS : An energy consumption model based on the thermal equilibrium equation was used to estimate the energy consumption of the aggregate drying process that consumes the maximum energy; the energy consumed for material transportation, storage, and operation of other facilities was cited from the literature. The results were compared with the actual results obtained for recycled hot asphalt mixtures and recycled warm mix asphalt mixtures, and a sensitivity analysis was performed by varying the conditions. RESULTS : An analysis of the main processes required to produce asphalt mixtures showed that the water content had the largest impact on energy consumption (approximately 80%). This quantitatively supports the opinion of field practitioners that maximum energy is consumed during aggregate drying. Although some discrepancies were observed, the results were found to be reasonable and within the range of typical measurements. CONCLUSIONS : The thermal energy consumption estimation model provides consistent results that reflect the characteristics of the mixture and can be used to derive the thermal energy consumption rates for individual materials, such as aggregates and binders. This can be used to identify the priorities for process optimization within a plant.

        최근 대기오염으로 인한 환경오염을 줄이고자 국제 산업계의 노력의 일환으로 국제해사기구(IMO)의 규제 발효등으로 이어지 고 있다. IMO는 EEXI,EEDI,CII 등 선박에서 나오는 대기오염을 줄이기 위해 각종 규제를 발효시키고 선박에서 소모되는 전력을 줄여 에너 지를 절약하는 방안을 추진하고 있다. 선박에서 사용되는 전력의 대부분은 전동기가 차지한다. 선박에 설치된 전동기 중 큰 부하를 차지 하는 기관실 송풍기는 수요와 관계없이 정속운전으로 운전하기 때문에 주파수제어를 통한 에너지절감을 기대할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 발전기의 과급기에 연소공기를 공급하는 발전기 송풍기의 전동기 주파수를 제어하여 에너지 절감에 대한 실효성을 입증하였다. 송풍기 주파수 입력에 따른 과급기출구 온도의 출력 데이터를 기반으로 시스템을 모델링하고, 과급기 출구온도를 목표값으로 하여 주파수를 제 어하는 PI 제어계를 형성하여 과급기 설계기준 출구온도를 유지하면서 송풍기의 주파수 제어를 통해 연간 15,552kW 전력소모량을 절감하 였다. 송풍기 팬 주파수 제어를 통한 에너지절감액의 유효성은 하계(4월~9월) 및 동계(3월~10월) 기간동안 검증하였으며 이를 토대로 실습 선의 연간 6,091천원의 유류비 절약과 이산화탄소 8.5Ton, SOx 2.4kg, NOx 7.8kg의 대기오염물질 저감을 달성하였다.

        국제적인 선박 배출 가스에 대한 환경 규제가 점차 강화됨에 따라 전기추진 및 하이브리드 추진선박에 대한 관심이 증대되고 있으며, 이러한 선박에 적용하기 위한 다양한 솔루션이 개발 및 적용되고 있는데 특히 전력계통의 안정화, 시스템의 효율성을 높이기 위 한 방안으로 직류배전시스템이 적용되고 있다. 또한, 선박용 직류배전시스템에 대한 안전 및 성능에 대한 검증 및 시험의 중요성이 요구 되고 있다. 본 연구는 직류배전 테스트베드 구축 및 직류배전(가변속 발전)시스템에 대한 성능을 검증하고 연료소모량 분석한 결과로서 선박용 직류배전에 적용되고 있는 가변속 발전시스템을 적용하였으며, 발전기에서 출력되는 전력을 정류기를 통해 직류전력으로 변환하 여 시스템에 연계하고 이러한 장치들을 감시 및 제어하기 위한 시스템을 개발하였다. 이러한 직류배전 시스템을 적용한 시험을 통해 최 대 전압은 751.5V이고 최소전압은 731.4V가 계측되어 전압변동률은 2.7%로 3% 이내에서 안정적으로 전압이 공급되는 것을 확인하였고 부 하변동에 따라 가변속 발전시스템을 적용하였을 경우 연료소모량이 기존 정속발전시스템과 비교하여 구간에 따라 최대 20%이상 연료절 감이 되는 것을 시험을 통해 확인하였다.
