Methanol extracts of 35 plant species in 20 families were tested for their insecticidal activities and repellent effects against Nilaparvata lugens female adult by topical application and spray methods. The insecticidal activities and repellent effects of various plant species and parts were different. The methanol extracts from stem of Garcinia xanthochymus, Senecio scandens and Phytolacca americana, seedcoat of Ginkgo biloba, and leaf + stem of Ailanthus altissima and Catalpa ovata showed potent insecticidal activities against N. lugens. Specially, the G. biloba extract exhibited higher than 90% mortality against N. lugens at a concentration of 4,000 ppm. Repellent effects of plant extracts obtained from whole plant of Daucus carota, fruit of Semecarpus anacardium, leaf + stem of C. ovata and Wisteria sinensis were active, and potent. Also, the plant extracts that are potent in insecticidal activity not necessarily have high repellent activity showing no significant corelation between the two activities.

본 연구는 정액의 보존 기간 동안 정액의 질적 변화를 알아보고자 시행하였다. 돼지 정액을 Beltsville Thawing Solution (BTS)에 희석한 후 17'C 에서 5일 동안 보존하였다. 보존 기간 동안 정자의 운동성(%)과 linearity는 3일째부터 유의하게 감소하였으나, 다른 운동 역학 변수에서는 유의적 변화를 나타내지 않았다. 또한, 5일 동안 정액을 보존할 경우 첨체의 온전성에도 변화가 없었다. 그러나 제 4일째부터 첨체 변화가 야기된 정자는 유의적으로 증가하였으나, 수정능 획득이 일어난 정자는 유의적으로 감소하였다. 정액의 보존 기간 동안 첨체의 온전성의 유의적 변화가 없었다. 즉, 보존 기간 3일동안 정자의 질적 운동성 및 첨체 온전성에는 유의적인 변화가 없었으므로 상업용 돼지 액상정액은 17'C 에서 적어도 3일간 수정능력을 만족스럽게 유지함을 보여준다.

명시적 액체-얼음상 미시물리 과정을 포함하는 구름 분해 모형(ARPS: Advanced Regional Prediction System)을 이용하여 2차원 그리고 주변 바람이 없는 경우에 뇌우 유출의 구조와 진화를 조사하였다. 고해상도 격자 간격(50m)을 이용하여 유출의 난류 구조를 명시적으로 분해하였다. 모사된 단세포 스톰과 스톰과 연관된 Kelvin-Helmholtz(KH) 빌로우(billow)는 발달, 성숙, 소멸의 생애 단계를 가졌다. 구름 역학과 미시물리 사이의 상호작용으로 야기된 이차 맥동과 대류 세포의 분활이 관측되었다. 상대적으로 건조한 하층 대기를 낙하하는 빗방울과 우박의 증발에 기인한 찬 하강류는 뇌우 찬 공기 유출을 야기시켰다. 유출 머리는 거의 일정한 속도로 이동하였다. KH 불안정에 의해 생성된 KH 빌로우는 유출 상부에서 난류 혼합을 야기하였으며 유출의 구조를 지배하였다. KH 빌로우는 유출 머리에서 생성되었고 돌풍 전선에 상대적으로 뒤쪽으로 이동함에 따라 성장하고 소멸하였다. 가장 빨리 성장하는 섭동의 수평 파장과 임계 시어층 깊이의 비 그리고 KH 빌로우의 수평 파장과 최대 진폭의 비에 대한 수치 모사 결과는 다른 연구 결과와 잘 일치하였다.

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of parity and region on the live body charateristics of Hanwoo cows. The data used were logissimus muscle area (LMAU), back fat thickness (BFTU), marbling score (MSU), and p8 point fat thickness (P8 FTU), by ultrasound from 1,239 heads of hi-lok branded Hanwoo cows. Based upon ultrasound characteristics of LMAU, BFTU, MSU and P8 FTU were significantly high in Hanwoo cows in Hwacheon area. Live body characteristics were increased with the parity, however estimated value tended to decreased after sixth parturition. This study was to invesigate the effect of dietary supplemention of Pozzolan, Chromium-methionine chelate and rhus verniciflua stokes additive feed on growth performance and ultrasound live body characteristics in finishing Hanwoo steer. The animal used in the experiment were a total of 17 heads and weighted 577.09±35.90㎏. The experimental diets were basal hi-lok branded only concentrat and rice straw and 4% Rhus, 0.4% Cramin and 2% Pozzolan, which additice in basal diet. Individually average daily gain was tended to decreased with treated group. Ultrasound back fat thickness and marbling score were not significantly different(p<0.05)between teratment, however Pozzolan additive treat was showed tend to increased. Longissimus muscle area was showed tended to decreased in the Pozzolan treatment.

This study was carried out to determine the maintenance and social behavior characteristics of Hanwoo steers by season. Forty eight Hanwoo steers were video-recorded at 15, 17 and 19 months of age for behavior measurement. Hanwoo steers spent more feeding time (p<0.05) in autumn than in summer and/or winter. Standing time was linearly increased (p<0.05) along with seasonal transition, from summer to winter. The rice straw intake speed was the fastest the summer, whereas the concentrate intake speed was relatively fast in winter. Furthermore, Hanwoo steers showed more behavior time and count for lying down (p<0.05) and drinking (p<0.05) in summer than in autumn and winter. Also, Hanwoo steers spent less count (p<0.05) self grooming and scratching in summer.

We have successfully developed the KASI (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute) Solar Imaging Spectrograph (KSIS), which has been originally upgraded from the KASI solar spectrograph that was able to record solar spectra for a given slit region and to inspect the response function of narrow band filters. A prototype KSIS was developed in 2004 by using a scanning mirror in front of the spectrograph slit and a SBIG ST-8XE CCD camera. Its main disadvantage is that it took a long time (about 13 minutes) to scan a whole active region. In this work, we have upgraded the KSIS by installing a much faster Dalsa 1M15 CCD camera, which gives a data acquisition time of about 2.5 minutes. The software for KSIS was also improved for the new CCD camera on the basis of component-based development method. We have successfully made a test observation for a simple and small active region (AR10910) using the improved KSIS system. Our observations show that H-alpha images for several wavelengths have typical features in a sunspot as well as a H-alpha centerline image is quite similar to a BBSO H-alpha image, demonstrating the capability of the KSIS system.
