Hansalim is a cooperative organization dealing with environmental-friendly/organic products(EFOP), which is pursuing both movement and business. Hansalim consists of producer"s organizations and consumer’s organizations, and always talks over organization structures and management directions all together. Hansalim has the movement goal of values and a world view for all lives, and so produces, distributes and consumes the EFOP as a way of achieving the goal. Hansalim was founded in 1986, and has about 130,000 members, the total sales of about 93.6 billions, 19 regional hansalims and one logistics center in 2006. Product strategy and promotion strategy are remarkable among green marketing mix of hansalim. Product strategy focuses safety, the environmental intimacy, differentiation and superiority of products. And the characteristics of promotion strategy are spontaneity, the self-control, cooperative spirit, mutual trust and close relationship among producers, consumers and staffs in charge.
This study attempts to develop an interim evaluation system for the Integrated Rural Village Cluster Development Project(IRVCDP) which can secure its identity and sustainability, and induce its early settlement, and to derive plans for its steady progress. The evaluation system consists of three levels. The highest-order level is evaluation purposes, which describe IRVCDP's goals. They are expansion of income bases(EIB), improvement of living environments(ILE), strengthening of regional capabilities(SRC) and constructing effective project operation system(CEPOS). The second level is evaluation items, which each characterize the relevant evaluation purposes. The last level is evaluation indices, which observe achievement f3r evaluation purposes. 22 evaluation indices are selected to satisfy the purposes of this study through a brainstorming process and a survey on opinions of experts for those evaluation purposes and evaluation items which are derived from analyzing the IRVCDP's properties. The relative importance of the evaluation indices selected are determined through the AHP analysis. The most intriguing result from the AHP analysis is that strengthening of regional capabilities is found to be the most important one among evaluation purposes. It can be said that this result is parallel to a ultimate goal of the IRVCDP.
The objectives of this study were to find development process and strategies for school lunch program using environmentally friendly agri-products (EFA). In order to improve the quality of school lunch program from elementary school to high school, the demand of EFA is increasing step by step such as a parent’s association and the citizen group. For that reason, establishment by regional ordinance for school lunch program using EFA is rapidly expanded throughout the country. To develop school lunch program using EFA, we have to consider WTO regulations and product reliable EFA under the demand-supply stabilization. Moreover, environmentally friendly agri-policy to be more focused on the promotion the consumer’s interests and food safety need.
Asan city has many strengths, for examples, the distinction of innovation ability, several places with clean environmental resources, conventional-cultural resources and favorable conditions of location in regional agriculture development. But it has not devised the comprehensive development plan for regional agriculture that is integrating natural, cultural and industrial resources. So the plan linked with those resources should be to promoted to develop agricultural production, marketing and regional economy. And a development strategy is to have the system of agricultural independence within Asan. Namely, originality, identity and cooperative spirit in economic and social-cultural aspects of Asan agriculture are needed, which are a great help to settle agricultural issues in Asan itself. And the governance system needs to be introduced that has the main bodies of Asan agriculture, so as to promote agricultural policy.
This study investigates the core elements of the formation and development of cluster using a multi-disciplinary approach and suggests a promoting strategy by development stage of cluster. As a sub-category of regional innovation system, the cluster has been considered as one of the most noticeable methodological argument to make the regional innovation system come true. In the meantime, this study examines the core elements of cluster shown in the theories and examples through six academic fields such as economics, geography, regional development, business administration, sociology and pedagogy and their educational back-ground. By means of establishing the incubation stage in the development of cluster, core elements are composed in the stages of birth, incubation and evolution in subsequent manner. A promoting strategy will be suggested through the implication of core elements in the reestablished stages.
This study tried to examine the possibility of rural tourism policy in Nam-Hae county and to provide a strategy for development of the local economy. It was carried out on a basis that the rural tourism businesses are operated by the local government(Nam-Hae county office). In doing so, this study investigated social, cultural and geographical characteristics and the regional tourism resources of Nam-Hae area. Based on the survey, it classified the types of rural tourism and suggested provisional tourist maps by the type. This study assumed that the local government has a full responsibility for the rural tourism businesses from the initial stage of setting up development plans to the operation of the businesses. Rural tourism theme courses of each small-position area provided tourists with tour courses and time schedules depended on geographical features of the areas. It produced a map that actually makes possible the theme rural tourism. The conclusion of this study is that the quality of living in Nam-Hae county would be improved with the rural tourism businesses which lead to increase in farm household income and to develop local settlement areas.
U.S. organic farming has grown rapidly-20 percent or more annually-throughout the 1990s, which kept pace with consumer demand for organically produced food. Thus certified organic acreage is the total to 2.35 million acres in 48 state in 2001, and so the U.S. ranked fourth in land area managed under organic farming systems. And according to several surveys, consumer’s reasons for purchasing organic food are health and nutrition, taste and environmental concerns. California and North Dakota were the top two states in 2001 for certified organic cropland; the former with mostly fruits and vegetables, and the latter with wheat, soybeans, and other crops. And the top two states for certified organic pasture were Colorado and Texas. And then several states such as Iowa and Minnesota have begun subsidizing conversion to organic farming systems as a way to capture the environmental benefits of these systems. The price of organic produce fluctuates rather broadly because of being traded by market economy principle and of demandsupply disequilibrium. Nevertheless, average price premiums for organic produce are higher than the prices for the produce under conventional farming. Future prospects for U.S. organic farming are as follows; Demand for organically grown foods is expected to continue growing at a rapid pace, as more growers convert to organic production and more processors and distributors expand organic selections in their product lines. And new processed products and new types of healthy foods are likely to appear on the market, and some new organic products will be aimed at mainstream markets.
Farm economy is getting worse because of the free trade trends in agriculture sector and unreasonable application of market economy principles to agricultural products. And The worldwide issues of environmental pollution as well as want of food, water and energy make human future be anxious. In addition, consumers raise questions in argument about safety of foods produced by traditional farming or imported. So I propose the urban-rural living community movement(URLCM) as an alternative plan for sustainable domestic agriculture. URLCM based on environmentally friendly agriculture and community consciousness will be able to solve many of present issues on agriculture and rural society through incessant interchanges between urban and rural community. This URLCM has to be basically founded on principles of symbiosis-coexistence and life circulation. So those that have to be driven forward are organizing producers and consumer cooperatives, making environmentally friendly rural region and products, combining with consumer cooperatives, training the participants and so forth.
Environmental-friendly agriculture(EFA) has been mainly developed at many areas which have factors of natural, social cultural and economic characteristics. These rural areas can be developed into environmental-friendly space to preserve ecosystem, natural and cultural scenery, and environmental resources. The plan for developing a regional agriculture has to get central operating bodies, producers" organizations, a homogeneous district for farming, and so on.
This case study is focused on development directions and situations of the EFA of Kosam area in Anseong. Kosam cooperatives is a central managing body to produce and sell rice by duck-farming method, and to develop rural area. This cooperatives is one of the leading those that have developed the regional agriculture in Korea. Kosam area is at a disadvantage of natural -geographical conditions and farming size. Kosam cooperatives has been trying to overcome these agricultural weaknesses by introducing duck-farming method. They have got many excellent results through developing EFA as a regional agriculture. Kosam area will be a good place for green tourism if they can actualize the combination model of three demand factors (natural and agricultural scenic view, natural-friendly recreation and safe food) for green tourism in the near future.
Today the pedestrian-related problems a key subject requiring the attention of the traffic engineers for improving the transportation system. Particularly in urban and CBD locations, the pedestrian presents an element of sharp conflict with vehicular traffic. Therefore pedestrian movements must be studied for the purpose of providing guideline for the design and operation of walking transportation systems. This paper is to address the characteristics of walking transportation in a big city. Especially the focuses are emphasized on the ratio occupied by pedestrian traffic among the whole unlinked trips in a city and walking time. The data for analysis are collected in Seoul metropolitan city through sampling 1,006 citizens. Compared with other similar research works this paper utilized diversified tools to acquire more useful results. Finally, policy directions for pedestrian environment improvement were suggested.
