        Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are capable of differentiating into mesenchymal tissue such as bone, cartilage, muscle, and adipose, and have been isolated and characterized from various species. Deer adipose tissue-derived MSCs (dAD-MSCs) have not been studied and deer bone marrow-derived MSCs (dBM-MSCs) have not been fully characterized. In this study, we firstly isolated MSCs from deer tissues and then compared characteristics of dAD-MSCs and dBM-MSCs. dAD-MSCs and dBM-MSCs exhibited significant increase in proliferation under low-glucose DMEM culture condition during 20 and 10 passages consecutive passages, respectively. Both cells expressed cell surface markers such as CD73, CD90, and CD105, but did not express CD34 and CD45. Two types of cells expressed stemness markers (Oct4, Sox2, and Nanog) and exhibited differentiation potential into mesodermal lineages. Both cells exhibited osteogenic and chondrogenic differentiation potential, but poor adipogenic differentiation potential. Specifically, dAD-MSCs have a greater capacity for chondrogenic differentiation potential compared to dBM-MSCs. Collectively, we successfully isolated dAD-MSCs from deer for the first time. This study suggests that adipose tissue of deer could be used as a source of deer MSCs.

        Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells capable of replicating as undifferentiated cells, and have the potential of differentiating into mesodermal lineages. Goats are commonly used as animal models for bone tissue engineering to test the potential of stem cells for bone regeneration. Goat MSCs isolated from bone marrow (BM) or adipose tissue (AD) should be evaluated using in vitro assays, prior to their application in a tissue engineering project. In this study, we compared the stem cell properties of MSCs derived from goat AD, BM and ear skin tissue (ESK). As results, BM and ESK-MSCs exhibited a spindle-shaped morphology comparable to that of AD-MSCs. Especially, BM-MSCs could be cultured for significantly longer periods and exhibited the greatest expansion capacity, whereas AD-MSCs had the shortest culture time and lowest growth rate. Also, we compared differentiation potentials of AD, BM and ESK-MSCs into adipogenic, chondrogenic, and osteogenic lineages through specific staining and quantitative real-time RT-PCR. Collectively, we successfully isolated ESK-MSCs from goat for the first time. This study suggests that adult skin tissue of goat could be used as a source of goat MSCs. Further studies are needed to show the more information for establishment and fully characterization of goat ESK-MSCs.

        A trend analysis of research articles in a field of knowledge is significant because it can help in finding out the structural characteristics of the field and the future direction of research through observing change in a time series. We identified the structural characteristics and trends in text data (keywords) gathered from research articles which in itself is an important task in various research areas. The titles and keywords were crawled from research articles published from 2016 to 2018 in the Research Journal of the Costume Culture (RJCC), one of the representative Korean journal in the field of clothing and textile. After we extracted data comprising English titles and keywords from 195 published articles, we transformed it into a 1-mode matrix. We used measures from network analysis (i.e., link, strength, and degree centrality) for evaluating meaningful patterns and trends in the research on clothing and textile. NodeXL was used for visualizing the semantic network. This study observed change in the clothing and textile research trend. In addition to covering the core areas of the field, the subjects of research have been diversifying with every passing year and have evolved onto a developmental direction. The most studied area in articles published by the RJCC was fashion retailing/consumer psychology while aesthetic/historic and fashion industry/policy studies were covered to a more limited extent. We observed that most of the studies reflecting the identity of RJCC share subject keywords to a significant extent.

        최근 인터넷 문화의 발달과 디지털 게임이 급속도로 발전하고 있다. 그에 따라 플랫폼의 변화도 일어나고 있으며 디지털 게임의 장르 또한 많이 세분화되며 남녀노소 즐길 수 있는 문화가 되었다. 그 중에서도 다중 이용자 온라인 롤플레잉 게임(Massive Multi-player Online Role Playing Game, MMORPG)이 크게 성장하며 이용자의 수가 급증하였다. 이 다중 이용자 온라인 롤플레잉 게임(MMORPG)은 수많은 사람들이 가상공간에서 만나 함께 게임을 즐길 수 있는 장르로, 가상공간에서 소통 및 관계를 맺기에 최적이라는 특징을 갖고 있다. 그러나 과거엔 콘텐츠적 특성이 폭력적, 선정성이 강해 남성 이용자들의 전유물이라는 경향이 강했으나 최근엔 여성 이용자들이 꾸준히 증가하고 있다. 이에 관한 여성 이용자들의 MMORPG 게임 콘텐츠에 대한 선호양상을 연구하고자 한다.

        Although somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT)-derived embryonic stem cells (ESCs) in pigs have great potential, their use is limited because the establishment efficiency of ESCs is extremely low. Accordingly, we tried to develop in-vitro culture system stimulating production of SCNT blastocysts with high performance in the colony formation and formation of colonies derived from SCNT blastocysts for enhancing production efficiency of porcine ESCs. For these, SCNT blastocysts produced in various types of embryo culture medium were cultured in different ESC culture medium and optimal culture medium was determined by comparing colony formation efficiency. As the results, ICM of porcine SCNT blastocysts produced through sequential culture of porcine SCNT embryos in the modified porcine zygote medium (PZM)-5 and the PZM-5F showed the best formation efficiency of colonies in α-MEM-based medium. In conclusion, appropriate combination of the embryo culture medium and ESC culture medium will greatly contribute to successful establishment of ESCs derived from SCNT embryos.

        Telomeres are known as a specialized region in the end of chromosomes to protect DNA destruction, but their lengths are shortened by repetition of cell division. This telomere shortening can be preserved or be elongated by telomerase and TERT expression. Although a certain condition in the cells may affect to the cellular and molecular characteristics, the effect of differentiation induction to telomere length and telomerase activity in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has been less studied. Therefore, the present study aimed to uncover periodical alterations of telomere length, telomerase activity and TERT expression in the dental pulp-derived MSCs (DP-MSCs) under condition of differentiation inductions into adipocytes and osteoblasts on a weekly basis up to 3 weeks. Shortening of telomere was significantly (p < 0.05) identified from early-middle stages of both differentiations in comparison with undifferentiated DP-MSCs by non-radioactive chemiluminescent assay and qRT-PCR method. Telomere length in undifferentiated DP-MSCs was 10.5 kb, but the late stage of differentiated DP-MSCs which can be regarded as the adult somatic cell exhibited 8.1-8.6 kb. Furthermore, the relative-quantitative telomerase repeat amplification protocol or western blotting presented significant (p < 0.05) decrease of telomerase activity since early stages of differentiations or TERT expression from middle stages of differentiations than undifferentiated state, respectively. Based on these results, it is supposed that shortened telomere length in differentiated DP-MSCs was remained along with prolonged differentiation durations, possibly due to weakened telomerase activity and TERT expression. We expect that the present study contributes on understanding differentiation mechanism of MSCs, and provides standardizing therapeutic strategies in clinical application of MSCs in the animal biotechnology.

        모바일 게임 시장이 스마트폰 중심으로 변화되기 시작하면서 모바일 게임에서는 오토 플레이 시스템이 적용되기 시작하였다. 오토플레이 시스템은 버튼 한번으로 게임을 자동으로 진행하는 시스템 이며 현재 거의 대부분의 모바일 게임에서 적용되었고 PC게임에서 까지 이러한 시스템이 적용되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 오토 플레이 시스템의 성능은 매우 비효율적으로 행동하고 있으며 본 논문에서는 플레이어의 행동 패턴을 기반으로 학습한 인공지능을 제안하고자 한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 인공지능 모델은 플레이어가 게임을 진행하면서 게임 데이터와 플레이어가 입력한 버튼 값을 학습 데이터로 저장하고 학습데이터를 DNN(Deep Neural Network) 신경망 모델을 사용하여 학습하였다. 게임에서는 플레이어가 중복적으로 다른 버튼을 동시에 누르기 때문에 Output Layer를 다층으로 분류하여 학습을 진행했다. 본 논문 실험에서는 20명의 실험자들에게 제안하는 인공지능 모델을 사용함으로써 결과를 기록하였고 트랙을 일정하게 벽을 부딪치지 않고 달린 플레이어 데이터만 제대로 학습되어 결과를 얻을 수 있었고 그렇지 않은 플레이어의 데이터는 캐릭터가 제대로 이동하지 않아 결과 값을 얻을 수가 없었다. 또한 간단한 아케이드 게임을 만들어 강화학습과 비교하였으며 강화학습보다 성능은 좋지 않았지만 학습속도가 약 10배 빨랐다.

        Because mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) maintain distinct capacities with respect to self-renewal, differentiation ability and immunomodulatory function, they have been highly considered as the therapeutic agents for cell-based clinical application. Of particular, differentiation condition alters characteristics of MSCs, including cellular morphology, expression of gene/protein and cell surface molecule, immunological property and apoptosis. However, the previous results for differentiation-related apoptosis in MSCs have still remained controversial due to varied outcomes. Therefore, the present study aimed to disclose periodical alterations of pro- and anti-apoptosis in MSCs under differentiation inductions. The human dental pulp-derived MSCs (DP-MSCs) were differentiated into adipocytes and osteoblasts during early (1 week), middle (2 weeks) and late (3 weeks) stages, and were investigated on their apoptosis-related changes by Annexin V assay, qRT-PCR and western blotting. The ratio of apoptotic cell population was significantly (p < 0.05) elevated during the early to middle stages of differentiations but recovered up to the similar level of undifferentiated state at the late stage of differentiation. In the expression of mRNA and protein, whereas expressions of pro-apoptosis-related makers (BAX and BAK) were not altered in any kind and duration of differentiation inductions, anti-apoptosis marker (BCL2) was significantly (p < 0.05) elevated even at the early stage of differentiations. The recovery of apoptotic cell population at the late stage of differentiation is expected to be associated with the response by elevation of anti-apoptotic molecules. The present study may contribute on understanding for cellular mechanism in differentiation of MSCs and provide background data in clinical application of MSCs in the animal biotechnology to develop effective and safe therapeutic strategy.

        The purpose of this paper was to investigate the comparison of balance and muscle strength between dominant and non-dominant legs in adults. Thirty adults in their 20s participated in this study. The dominant and non-dominant legs were selected based on the dominant hands of the target. The subject's muscle strength of legs was measured with Nicholas MMT, and the balance was measured with BIO-Rescue. We compared the dominant and non-dominant legs based on the results. The result, indicated no statistical difference on balance and muscle strength between dominant and non-dominant legs(p>.05). The results of this study will be helpful in setting the effective treatment direction and treatment level, and in controlling posture, balance and motor function.

        목적: 국내 콘택트렌즈 착용자들의 렌즈 사용 후 폐기처분 방법, 잘못된 폐기방법으로 발생될 수 있는 미세플라스틱에 의한 환경오염에 대한 인식을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 성인 261명(남자 124명, 여자 137명, 평균 나이 21.48±3.14세)을 대상으로 콘택트렌즈 주 구매처, 착용 콘택트렌즈 종류, 콘택트렌즈 착용 기간, 콘택트렌즈 폐기방법에 대한 정보나 교육을 받은 적이 있는지 여부, 콘택트렌즈 사용 후 폐기처분 방법, 환경오염 발생에 대한 인식에 대한 온라인 설문조사를 실시하였다. 결과: 콘택트렌즈 주 구매처는 안경원(50.0%), 렌즈샵(48.3%) 순으로 나타났으며, 콘택트렌즈 종류로는 매일착용 렌즈 (52.5%), 일회용 렌즈(38.5%)를 가장 많이 착용하고 있었다. 콘택트렌즈를 착용해 온 기간은 5년 이상(29.3%), 1년 미만(26.0%), 1년 이상~3년 미만(26.0%) 순으로 나타났으며, 1주일 중 콘택트렌즈를 착용하는 기간은 1~2일 착용(32.0%)이 제일 많았고, 1주일 내내(28.0%), 5-6일 착용(22.4%), 3-4일(17.6%) 순으로 응답하였다. 콘택트렌즈 구매처에서 폐기처분에 대한 교육이나 정보를 접했는지 여부는 “아니다(78.3%)”, “그렇다(21.7%)”로 나타났으며, 평소 학교나 공공기관, 인터넷 등 대중매체에서 콘택트렌즈 폐기처분에 대한 교육이나 정보를 접했는지 여부를 묻는 설문에는 교육받은 적 “없다(87.5%)”, “있다(12.5%)”로 나타났다. 폐기처분 방법으로는 매립용 쓰레기(45.6%), 재활용 쓰레기(29.6%), 싱크대나 화장실을 통한 배수구(16.8%) 순으로 응답하였다. 남성이 여성보다 폐기처분에 대한 교육이나 정보를 더 많이 접했지만(t=3.63189, p<0.00001), 여성이 환경오염에 대한 인식이 더 높은 것으로 나타났다(t=2.44269, p=0.01605). 결론: 하수처리 시설에서 분해되지 않고 미세플라스틱으로 변하는 콘택트렌즈로 인한 환경오염 문제를 줄이기 위해 콘택트렌즈 사용 후 올바른 폐기방법에 대한 정보를 제공하고 이에 대한 교육이 시급한 것으로 생각된다.

        To date, there are no protocols optimized to the effective separation of spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) from testicular cells derived from mouse testes, thus hindering studies based on mouse SSCs. In this study, we aimed to determine the most efficient purification method for the isolation of SSCs from mouse testes among previously described techniques. Isolation of SSCs from testicular cells derived from mouse testes was conducted using four different techniques: differential plating (DP), magnetic-activated cell sorting (MACS) post-DP, MACS, and positive and negative selection double MACS. DP was performed for 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16 h, and MACS was performed using EpCAM (MACSEpCAM), Thy1 (MACSThy1), or GFR α1 (MACSGFRα1) antibodies. The purification efficiency of each method was analyzed by measuring the percentage of cells that stained positively for alkaline phosphatase. DP for 8 h, MACSThy1 post-DP for 8 h, MACSGFRα1, positive selection double MACSGFRα1/EpCAM, and negative selection double MACSGFRα1/α-SMA were identified as the optimal protocols for isolation of SSCs from mouse testicular cells. Comparison of the purification efficiencies of the optimized isolation protocols showed that, numerically, the highest purification efficiency was obtained using MACSGFRα1. Overall, our results indicate that MACSGFRα1 is an appropriate purification technique for the isolation of SSCs from mouse testicular cells.
