        작은뿌리파리는 시설하우스에 발생하여 심각한 경제적 피해를 주고 있는 중요한 해충이다. 때문에 이를 방제하기 위한 다양한 연구 진행을 위해서는 간단하고 효과적인 대량 사육 방법이 요구된다. 본 연구는 시중에서 저렴하게 구입 가능한 기주인 강낭콩을 이용하여 작은뿌리파리의 대 량 사육 방법을 개발하고자 수행하였다. 시험은 강낭콩의 불린 기간 및 개수에 대한 작은뿌리파리의 산란수를 조사하였으며, 그 결과 3일 불린 강낭 콩에서 산란수가 108.2개로 가장 많았고, 강낭콩의 개수가 많을수록 산란수가 증가하였다. 또한 작은뿌리파리의 산란수가 가장 높게 나타난 3일 불 린 강낭콩배지와 기존에 사육배지로 보고된 감자디스크배지에서 산란수, 부화율, 용화율, 우화율, 생존수 및 알에서 성충까지 발육 기간을 비교하였 으며, 강낭콩배지에서 감자디스크배지보다 산란수가 8.5배 이상 높았고 용화율, 우화율, 생존수도 높게 나타났다. 알에서 성충까지 발육 기간은 강 낭콩배지에서 11.7일로 감자디스크배지보다 7일정도 빨리 우화하였다.

        PURPOSES : This study aimed to evaluate the performance of carbon-reduced asphalt mixtures based on asphalt binder and asphalt mixture tests. METHODS : A carbon-reducing asphalt additive was developed, and samples were prepared by mixing the additive(0.85%, 1.35%, and 1.85%) with virgin asphalt binder to measure changes in the asphalt’s physical properties based on the content of the developed additive. The basic physical properties the penetration, softening point, ductility, and rotational viscosity and performance grade of the samples were measured, and the optimal content of the additive was determined to be 1.35%. An asphalt mixture was produced using the optimal additive content of 1.35%, and stability, indirect tensile strength, tensile strength ratio(TSR), and dynamic stability tests were conducted to compare its performance with that of hot mixed asphalt(HMA). Additionally, a dynamic modulus test that could simulate various loading conditions was conducted. Fuel consumption and CO2 emission were measured at the plant. RESULTS : The developed additive had the effect of reducing the viscosity of the binder while maintaining properties similar to those of the base binder when used at the selected content. The mixture test confirmed that the physical properties related to strength tended to decrease slightly when the additive were applied; however, all specifications were satisfied. In the dynamic modulus test, the results were confirmed to be similar to those of HMA. The fuel consumption and CO2 emission were reduced by 25-30%. CONCLUSIONS : Evidently, asphalt mixtures with carbon-reducing additives can perform at a level equivalent to that of HMA. To bolster this conclusion, it is necessary to track the long-term performance of low-carbon asphalt mixtures on pilot roads.

        본 연구는 소량 다품종의 화학물질을 다루는 연구실의 안전관리를 강화하기 위해 전과정관리 체계 알고리즘을 제안하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 최근 10년간의 연구실 사고 사례, 관련 법규, 선행 연구 및 FGI (Focus Group Interview) 연구실 현황 분석을 통해 요구사항을 도출하고 전과정 관리체계를 개발하였으며, 이를 기반으로 전과정관리체계 알고리즘을 설계, 개발하여 연구실에 적용 및 검증하였다. 연구실 화학물질 사고 예방을 위한 안전관리는 우선 연구실 내 화학물질의 종류와 양을 정확히 파악하는 것부터 시작해야 한다. 이를 위해 화학물질관리의 전 과정을 단계별로 나누어 관리체계를 수립하고, 각 단계에서 활용되는 물질 정보, 법규 정보, 화학물질 성상별 분리 정보를 다루는 데이터베이스 항목 추출 및 알고리즘 개발 방안을 제시하였다. 본 알고리즘을 세 개의 기관에서 적용한 결과, 사고 예방 및 법규 준수 측면에서 높은 효과를 보인 것으로 평가되었으나 사고 발생률에 미치는 유의한 영향에 대해 알기 위해서는 더 많은 적용 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서 개발한 전과정관리체계 알고리즘의 활용은 실험실 안전과 사회적 안전을 도모하는 동시에 기업의 ESG 경영의 중요한 요소 중 하나인 기업활동의 리스크 관리와 책임경영에 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

        비임상시험관리기준에서 독성시험 전 분석법 밸리데이션은 농도 설정 및 시료 제조 측면에서 중요하다. 시험기관에서는 의뢰받은 시험물질 2종에 대한 밸리데이션을 고성능액체크로마토그래피를 이용 하여 수행한 결과 특이성, 시스템 적합성, 직선성, 일내 재현성, 균질성, 안정성, 농도분석, 품질관리를 판정 기준에 만족하는 분석방법을 확립 및 검증하였다. 하지만 의뢰기관의 시험성적서상 표준물질 함량은 시험 기관의 결과보다 1.34배, 1.17배 높은 결과로 나타나 비임상시험관리기준에 적합한 분석법 밸리데이션을 통한 결과 도출이 신뢰성과 안정성 확보 측면에서 중요함을 확인하였다.

        RNAi (RNA interference, RNA 간섭)은 타겟 유전자의 mRNA 시퀀스와 상동한 이중 가닥 RNA (double-stranded RNA)에 의해 일어난다는 사실이 밝혀진 이후, 유전자의 기능을 파악하는 연구 도구로 활용되다가, 2018년에 비로소 사람의 유전자 치료제로 상용화가 되었다. 지금은 더 많은 질병들의 유전자 치료제를 만들기 위해 다양한 회사들이 임상을 진행하고 있다. 농업의 분야에서는 곤충의 ‘생존 필수 유전자’를 타겟함으로써 해충 방제제로 개발되어 서부 옥수수 뿌리벌레(Western corn rootworm)를 RNAi로 방제하기 위한 제품이 종자 형식으로 상용화 되었고, 최근에는 심각한 농약저항성을 가진 콜로라도 감자벌레(Colorado potato beetle)를 RNAi로 방제하기 위 해 ‘스프레이 방식의 뿌리는 dsRNA’가 상용화되었다. 추후에 더 많은 해충을 타겟으로 하는 제품이 개발될 예정 이다. 본 발표에서는 위에 언급한 상용화된 dsRNA 시퀀스의 환경안전성평가와 관련된 연구, off-target effect, siRNA 활용, nanoparticle 등 RNAi 기술을 보다 안전하고 유용하게 농업적으로 사용할 수 있는 방법에 대한 ‘실험 실의 역할’이 무엇인지 알아보고자 한다.

        과거 약 50년간 국내에서는 화학농약 기반의 병해충 방제가 지속적으로 농업 생산량을 안정적으로 유지시켜 왔다. 그러나 무분별한 화학 농약 사용은 병해충의 약제저항성 발달을 유발하였으며, 이는 기존의 방제효과를 얻기 위해 고농도 살포가 불가피하였으며, 또한 막대한 개발 비용이 필요한 신규 작용점 살충제 개발로 고비용의 방제기술로 전락하게 되었다. 여기에 대부분의 살충제가 신경계에 작용하여 인축 및 비표적 생물계에 영향을 주어 광범위한 사용에 제한을 받게 되었다. 대체 방제기술로 천적과 미생물에 의존하는 생물농약은 방제효율에 서 대부분 화학약제의 수준을 따르지 못해 농민의 절대적 호응을 받지 못하였다. 이 가운데 새로운 패러다임의 생물농약으로 살포용 dsRNA 농약이 화학농약의 방제 효과와 버금가는 시험 농가 반응으로 2023년 12월에 미국 EPA 등록을 받게 되었다. 향후 살포용 dsRNA는 살충제는 물론이고 살균제 및 제초제에 이르기까지 작물보호제 시장 전체에 영향을 미치게 된다. 이에 국내에서도 dsRNA를 실험실 단계에서 산업계 적용 기술 개발 단계로 전환하여야 할 시점에 이르게 되었다.

        Indian meal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), is a serious pest of stored products. We assessed the efficacy of combined application of Beauveria bassiana AAD16 and azadirachtin against P. interpunctella under laboratory conditions by using filter paper dipping method. P. interpunctella larvae showed lowest LT50 in combined application of AAD16 and azadirachtin compared to the application of only azadirachtin. The mycosis rate of P. interpunctella larvae was 100% after 14 days of the combined application while AAD16 only application showed 93%. These findings suggest that B. bassiana AAD16 and azadirachtin combined solution can be an effective controlling technique against P. interpunctella larvae.

        대한민국의 도로의 증가로 인한 복잡화에 따라 터널의 수와 연장이 지속적으로 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 시멘트콘크리트 포장의 성 능과 수명에 미치는 환경조건의 영향을 분석한다. 현재까지 시공된 고속도로의 많은 부분이 시멘트콘크리트 포장으로 되어 있으며, 이 에 대한 연구는 오랫동안 진행되어 왔다. 부등건조수축은 슬래브의 상하부 온습도 차이에 의해 발생하며, 일일 및 계절적 주기에 따라 발생한다. 일반적으로, 온습도 변화에 따라 컬링이나 와핑이 발생하는데, 컬링은 낮에는 높은 온도로 인한 하향 수축, 밤에는 낮은 온 도로 인한 상향 수축을 나타낸다. 그러나, 환경조건 변화에 따른 콘크리트 내부 습도 변화에 대한 이해는 아직 크게 연구가 진행되지 않아 포장 설계에 적절히 반영되지 못하고 있다. 이러한 연구는 터널 등 배수가 어려운 지역에서 콘크리트포장의 적절성을 판단하여 공용수명에 기여할 것으로 예상한다. 본 연구에서는 슬래브의 하부 조건이 콘크리트 내부 습도에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 조사한다. 콘크리트 시편을 제작하여 특수한 환경조건에서의 습윤 차이를 모사하여 수분 이동 특성을 연구한다. 실험에서는 슬래브의 한쪽면을 고정하고 반대편이 부등건조수축으 로 인해 발생하는 변형률과 수직변위를 측정할 장비를 설치하여 시간에 따른 변화량을 확인한다.

        This article presents the crucial role played by the French underground research laboratory (URL) in initiating the deep geological repository project Cigéo. In January 2023, Andra finalized the license application for the initial construction of Cigéo. Depending on Government’s decision, the construction of Cigéo may be authorized around 2027. Cigéo is the result of a National program, launched in 1991, aiming to safely manage high-level and intermediate level long-lived radioactive wastes. This National program is based on four principles: 1) excellent science and technical knowledge, 2) safety and security as primary goals for waste management, 3) high requirements for environment protection, 4) transparent and openpublic exchanges preceding the democratic decisions and orientations by the Parliament. The research and development (R&D) activities carried out in the URL supported the design and the safety demonstration of the Cigéo project. Moreover, running the URL has provided an opportunity to gain practical experience with regard to the security of underground operations, assessment of environmental impacts, and involvement of the public in the preparation of decisions. The practices implemented have helped gradually build confidence in the Cigéo project.

        PURPOSES : This study aims to conduct a laboratory evaluation on the use of ferronickel slag for manufacturing Hot Mix Asphalat mixtures. METHODS : This research was based on laboratory evaluation only, where conventional aggregate and FNS at a ratio of 7:3 were used in HMA and the volumetric properties, physical and mechanical properties, and long-term performance of FNS in asphalt mixture were evaluated. RESULTS : The overall results showed that FNS can be applied as aggregate in a hot mix asphalt since volumetric, physical and mechanical properties and long-term performance of HMA mixture with ferronickel slags as aggregate met the required standards according to Korean standards for Asphalt Concrete. CONCLUSIONS : The tensile strength ratio results of HMA mixtures with ferronickel aggregate did not meet the required standards, yet the addition of anti-stripping agent and waste glass fibers to the HMA mixture with ferronickel slags improved the tensile strength results to meet the standards. Additionally, compared to the HMA mixture of the same aggregate gradation but with only natural aggregate, HMA mixture with ferronickel slags had almost the same results for the majority of tests conducted.

        A comprehensive understanding of actinide coordination chemistry and its structure is essential in many aspects of the nuclear fuel cycle, such as fuel reprocessing, waste management, reactor safety, and non-proliferation efforts. Managing radioactive waste generated during the nuclear fuel cycle has recently become more important, accordingly increasing the importance of designing appropriate waste forms and storage solutions for long-term waste disposal. Compared to the increase in the need for understanding the chemistry of major radioactive elements, the information on the local structure of the radioactive elements, especially actinides, remains unknown. To probe this issue, X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) can be applied. By analyzing the EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure) and XANES (X-ray absorption near edge structure), the local structure around atoms can be determined. However, the radioactive properties of the nuclides hindered the measurement of EXAFS and XANES, due to the difficulties of preparation, containment, and transfer of the sample. To measure the EXAFS of various compounds regarding the back-end nuclear fuel cycle, laboratory-based EXAFS (hiXAS, HP spectroscopy) has been introduced which can measure the EXAFS and XANES at the energy range of 5-18 keV. Compounds of Copper (Cu foil, CuO samples), Zirconium (Zr foil), and Europium (Eu2O3) were used for the verification of the laboratory -based EXAFS at a given energy range. The measured EXAFS spectrum of various compounds exhibit good agreement with the theoretical data, showing an R-factor of less than 0.02. It was found that each graph has a first peak corresponding to 2.55Å for Cu foil (Cu-Cu), 1.93Å for CuO samples (Cu-O), 3.23Å for Zr foil (Zr-Zr), and from 2.32Å to 2.34Å for Eu2O3 (Eu-O), which agree well with other values from the literature. From the result, it can be implied that this equipment can be used especially in the back-end nuclear fuel cycle field to enhance the understanding of local structure in radiochemistry.

        High level radioactive waste (HLW) final disposal repository is faced thermos-hydro-mechanical - radioactive condition because it is placed over 500 m in depth and waste emits decay heats for decades. Repository will be operated around 100 years and will be closed after all the wastes are disposed. The integrity of engineered barriers including buffer, backfill, concrete plug and canister and natural barrier (natural rock mass) will be stood during operating periods. Monitoring sensors for concrete and rock mass is conducted using piezo based sensors such as accelerometer or acoustic emission (AE) sensors. Typical accelerometer for harsh conditions is commonly expensive and data/power cable can be a potential groundwater inflow and nuclide outflow path. The fiber optic accelerometer whose data and power cable are united and has limited volume. Therefore, it can be a potential alternative sensor of piezo based sensors. The temperature limits and accelerated tests for fiber optic sensors are conducted. Most of sensors gives a malfunction around 130°C. The results of these experimental tests give a possibility of communications in compacted bentonite buffer and will be utilized for the design of monitoring systems for the repository.

        The engineered barrier system (EBS), composed of spent nuclear fuel, canister, buffer and backfill material, and near-field rock, plays a crucial role in the deep geological repository for high-level radioactive waste. Understanding the interactions between components in a thermo-hydro-mechanical -chemical (THMC) environment is necessary for ensuring the long-term performance of a disposal facility. Alongside the research project at KAERI, a comprehensive experimental facility has been established to elucidate the comprehensive performance of EBS components. The EBS performance demonstration laboratory, which installed in a 1,000 m2, consists of nine experimental modules pertaining to rock mechanics, gas migration, THMC characteristics, buffer-rock interaction, buffer & backfill development, canister corrosion, canister welding, canister performance, and structure monitoring & diagnostics. This facility is still conducting research on the engineering properties and complex interactions of EBS components under coupled THMC condition. It is expected to serve as an important laboratory for the development of the key technologies for assessing the long-term stability of engineered barriers

        This research aims to validate the effectiveness of the "Specialized Entrepreneurship University Program," which was conducted as part of government entrepreneurship support initiatives from 2018 to 2022. Based on previous studies, a research model was derived consisting of three laboratory entrepreneurship support factors that influence program satisfaction and entrepreneurial outcomes (infrastructure support, educational mentoring support, and business linkage support). Surveys were collected and analyzed from 126 laboratory entrepreneurship firms participating in the program, and empirical analysis of the research model was conducted using SPSS 23.0 statistical software. The analysis results indicated that the three variables, namely infrastructure support, educational mentoring support, and business linkage support, were significant factors affecting program satisfaction, and program satisfaction was confirmed to influence entrepreneurial outcomes. Furthermore, it was found that the three business operation factors indirectly influenced entrepreneurial outcomes by partially mediating program satisfaction. This study is considered significant as an empirical study for the initial stage of the second-phase program enhancement, verifying the effectiveness of laboratory entrepreneurship support factors. The findings can be applied to similar government entrepreneurship support initiatives and contribute to the effective strategy and planning of stakeholders involved. The limitations of this study include the need for further research on the perception of the extent to which it contributes to entrepreneurial outcomes, emphasizing caution in interpreting the research model, and the necessity for expanding the survey population and improving survey items in future research.

        Soybean aphid, Aphis glycines Matsumura has been identified as a pest of soybean in Korea, Japan, and China. The use of synthetic chemical insecticides is a major option to manage this pest, but the demand for environmental-friendly insecticide is increasing. Entomopathogenic fungus is one of the alternatives which is safe for the environment. In this bioassay, leaf dipping method was used to evaluate Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin ARP14 and GHA. The mortality of both adults and nymphs was not significantly different between the two fungus strains. However, faster mortality rate in both life stages of aphid was found in ARP14 compared to GHA strain. Also, the mycosis rates of both adults and nymphs were higher in ARP14 than in GHA strain. Our results suggest that B. bassiana ARP14 can be an effective and an environmental-friendly control agent for A. glycines.

        The repeated use of biocidal products, including household insecticides and disinfectants, has led people to seek safer alternatives, such as light traps, ultrasound generators, or repellent lamps. By appearances, these physical/non-chemical alternatives seem appealing to many consumers and are gaining more attention. However, unlike biocidal products, these alternatives are not subject to mandatory approval and registration processes, and no standards for efficacy and safety are in place. Given the increasing numbers of insect traps on the market, there is an urgent need to investigate their efficacy. In the present study, we examined the attraction activity of ten commercially available insect trap products. They varied in size, structure, trapping methods (fan or sticky pad), and attractants. Their efficacies were assessed under both laboratory condition (1.8m x 1.8m x 1.8m) and semi-field room condition (4m x 6m x 2m). Ul*****APTM demonstrated the highest capture rate (%), leading us to further study the role of its attractant. Notably, the capture rate increased by 28.9% when the CO2 attractant was used, displaying statistical differences (P = 0.032). For practical application in the field, consumer acceptance and satisfaction were monitored using 20 participants. The potential of insect traps as viable alternatives to biocidal products is discussed.

        Tetranychus kanzawai Kishida (Acari: Tetranychidae) is a major pest on strawberry, reducing both the quality and quantity of fruit production. We compared the virulence of an entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin ARP14 with a commercial GHA strain against T. kanzawai. In the laboratory, leaf dipping method was conducted while a one-time spray was carried out on selected planting units in strawberry greenhouse with each fungus strain and Triton X-100 as control. Adult T. kanzawai showed lower LT50 when treated with ARP14 strain compared to GHA in the laboratory. The densities of both adult and nymph mites in the greenhouse were significantly reduced in the treatment of two fungus strains compared to the control. The mycosis rate of T. kanzawai in greenhouse was 97.9% at 14 days when treated with ARP14 strain while it was 85.5% when treated with GHA strain. The results suggest that B. bassiana ARP14 can be an effective mycoinsecticide against T. kanzawai.
