This study aimed to analyze the economic feasibility of the reduction of working safety accidents in stow net fishery through the prevention education to fishing crews. The benefit was evaluated by estimating insurance payment amount that was reduced through prevention education. The decreasing rate of working safety accidents was presumed to follow the experience in Japan. The cost was assumed as the cost of textbook development. Results indicated that IRR was estimated to be 79.9% in case of scenario assuming no additional operating costs while IRR was 56.3% in case of scenario assuming 10% additional operating costs. In addition, the economic feasibility would be secured when annual operating costs increased to 274 million won according to the result of sensitivity analysis.

According to the statistics of KMST (2010~2019), 68.5% of marine casualties have been occurred in fishing boats in the last 10 years. Although the incidence rate of annual average per ship is 10.4% for merchant ships and 2.3% for fishing boats, it is necessary to first reduce the marine casualties of fishing boats in order to reduce the occurrence of the whole marine casualty, considering that the number of registered fishing boats are 86.5% of the total. In this study, the top 10 fishing types with high occurring marine casualties in the past 10 years were selected using the statistics of KMST. Then, the causes of the marine casualties, focusing on the collision, were analyzed and counterplan were suggested. The biggest marine casualty that the top 10 fishing types have caused in the past 10 years was a collision, accounting for 71.7% of the total, and the rest were less than 10.0% each. Also, it was found that the biggest environment and cause of the collision were due to human factors such as poor look out or negligence of duty. Eventually, it was concluded that a reduction in the human factors for the causes basically, could lower the incidence of the marine casualties. Therefore, if the continuous and systematic correcting education of the attitude toward the ship operating of seafarers could conducted with the focus on the main human factors, the whole marine casualties will be expected to decrease gradually.

PURPOSES : This study analyzed explanatory variables, such as dangerous driving behaviors, in a negative binomial regression model, using the Digital Tachograph data of commercial vehicles, to assess the factors associated with freeway accidents. METHODS : Fixed parameter and random parameter negative binomial regression models were constructed using freeway accident data of commercial vehicles from January 2007 to July 2018 on the Gyeongbu Expressway from West Ulsan Interchange to Gimcheon Junction. RESULTS : Six explanatory variables (logarithm of average annual daily traffic, sunny, rainy, and snowy weather conditions, road curvature, and driving behaviors that included sudden stops) were found to impact the occurrence of freeway accidents significantly. Two of these variables (snowy weather conditions and sudden stops among dangerous driving behaviors) were analyzed as random parameters. These variables were shown as probabilistic variables that do not have a fixed impact on traffic accidents CONCLUSIONS : The variables analyzed as random parameters should be carefully considered when the freeway operating authorities plan an improvement project for highway safety.

PURPOSES : In this study, the installation of drowsy rest areas and accidents are analyzed. The factors that affected the accidents caused by drowsy drivers in rest areas are analyzed to improve the safety of rest areas. METHODS : By comparing and analyzing the installation status of the rest areas for drowsy drivers, the accident status were analyzed. The logistic regression model was used to analyze the factors that affect accidents in the drowsy rest area. RESULTS : Most rest areas were installed below the installation criteria. Several accidents occurred when the vehicle entered the drowsy rest area. These rest areas had a short entry ramp, and no safety facilities were installed. The logistic regression model showed that the risk of an accident is lowered when the deceleration lane is longer than 215 m. Additionally, the risk of an accident is lowered when the rest area is installed in the straight section or the curve section, wherein the curve radius is greater than 2 km. CONCLUSIONS : In this study, we evaluated the installation status of the rest areas for drowsy drivers by comparing installation elements. Most rest areas for drowsy drivers were installed at different lengths of the ramp. Some of these were installed on the slope or curved sections of the road. We analyzed the accident status and developed an accident modal using the logistic regression model to identify the factors that affect accidents. It will be necessary to analyze accidents in drowsy rest areas continuously to improve safety for drowsy drivers.

Purpose: This study examined the effects of simulation-based education for high-risk maternity on evaluating problem-solving process, self-leadership, critical thinking disposition, and selfefficacy of nursing students. Method: This study was a one-group pretest-postest test design with 81 junior nursing students as participants. Data were collected from September 4 to December 11, 2019, after students completed their simulation practice class. Students completed a survey on their problem-solving process, self-leadership, critical thinking disposition, and self-efficacy at the beginning and end of the class. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and Pearson’s correlation coefficients using the SPSS WIN 21.0 program. Results: Students’ problem-solving process (t=-7.06, p<.001), self-leadership (t=-3.08, p=.003), critical thinking disposition (t=-2.12, p=.037), and self-efficacy (t=-6.01, p<.001) showed significant improvement after the simulation-based education for high-risk maternity. There was a positive relation between problem-solving process and self-leadership (r=.52, p<.001), critical thinking disposition (r=.39, p<.001), and self-efficacy (r=.53, p<.001). Conclusion: There is a need to supplement the limitations of clinical practice education by providing a simulation-based education environment similar to a hospital since the experience of clinical practice alone is not sufficient to improve students' knowledge and skills. Results of this study may be used as a basic data for efficiently performing simulation-based education on high-risk maternity.

Korea’s elevator industry is one of the world’s eighth-largest industrial sectors and the third largest in the world by new installations. This year, the number of elevators has exceeded 700,000, and the number of new installations is 30,000-40,000 every year. However, the news of elevator-related accidents is reported continuously through the media and the accident rate is not decreasing. In particular, among the recent accidents related to elevators, accidents related to elevator workers are increasing, causing social problems. This year, the National Assembly’s Environmental Labor Relations Commission’s National Auditors lost five lives a year and 12 elevator workers were killed in fall and stenosis accidents during the installation, maintenance and replacement of the elevators for about two years since 2018. It took place to adopt the representatives of four domestic elevator companies as witnesses. An elevator worker is a collective term for workers involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, replacement, maintenance, inspection, management, and supervision related to the elevator industry, and the related accidents are called elevator worker accidents. Analysis of elevator-related accidents in the past has shown that the fault of the user accounted for 70% of the total, and the fault of the worker accounted for about 2.5%, and the accident occurred to the user or the user due to carelessness of the worker during the lift-related work. Currently, elevator-related accidents are reported by the Korea Elevator Safety Agency under Article 48 of the Elevator Safety Management Act under the Ministry of Interior and Safety. If deemed necessary for the prevention and prevention of recurrence of an elevator accident, the cause and condition of the elevator accident may be investigated. However, the current draft law is limited only to elevators after installation inspection, and is separated from the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s data on accidents occurring in the manufacturing and installation stages related to the elevator industry. This study analyzes the recent safety accidents of elevator workers and prepares safety measures to prevent them through the risk analysis, and also draws out the problems and improvements of the current elevator worker accident investigation to find the elevator worker accident rate that is on the increase trend.
