        Today, conventional CVT equipped vehicle controls engine torque and gear ratio by using engine torque map and shifting map. But this control process is difficult to optimize the fuel economy when the driving mode is changed arbitrary. In this study, I propose the real-time CVT control with considering the power loss of transmission system to improve vehicle fuel economy and drivability. The driving performance and fuel economy of the proposed control logic is analyzed by backward simulation and the validity of new control logic is verified.

        Vector-borne plant virus transmission is a complex mechanism. Plant viruses modify development and behavior of vectorinsects in a positive, negative, or neutral manner. Bemisia tabaci transmits Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) whichis a virus that seriously damaged tomato cultivars all around the world. We compared several behavioral and physiologicalcharacteristics between non-viruliferous (NV) and TYLCV-viruliferous (V) of whiteflies. When B. tabaci acquired TYLCV,total life span was shorter and fecundity was lower than NV ones. V whiteflies were more susceptible to thermal stressby increasing hsp mRNA levels but higher in mortality by either heat or cold shocks. Further, V whiteflies increasedthe rates of plant sap probing and light attraction behaviors than NV ones. Our results provide insights to understandvector’s role in relation to the acquisition and transmission of plant viruses.

        Sweetpotato whitefly and whitefly-transmitted tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) are major threats to tomatoand pepper production in all around world. TYLCV was reported in the Mediterranean countries and has spread to othercountries via different routes. Recent results emphasize that resistant tomato genotypes against TYLCV infection can serveas TYLCV and whitefly reservoirs and potentially influence TYLCV epidemics. Recent studies showed that geminivirusesincluding TYLCV can be seed transmissible viruses. Taken together, to prevent the outbreak or rapid spread of new geminivirus,both insect vector mediated transmission and seed transmission should be concerned.

        Different types of insect-borne plant viruses can modify their hosts and vectors in distinct manners. Therefore, interactionsbetween two types of viruses co-existing in a field are known to be complex to predict. Obtaining empirical data byconducting field experiments, however, requires numerous biotic and abiotic factors to be controlled, and is therefore hardto execute. Thus, we designed an individual based model to simulate the transmission pattern of two viruses, using potatoes(Solanum tuberosum) for host plant, aphids (Myzus persicae) for virus vector, potato leafroll virus and potato virus Yfor different types of plant viruses. More specifically, we aimed to investigate the effect of the following on the spreadof the plant viruses: dispersal by winged-form aphids, initial number of virus-infected seed potatoes, and indirect interactionsbetween two viruses by affecting life traits of the vectors.

        The hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a leading causative agent of acute hepatitis in humans. Zoonotic HEV strains have been isolated from several animal species, including pigs. New HEV variants have been recently isolated from camels in the Middle East. In the present study, fecal samples from fallow deer, formosan deer, alpaca, and guanaco were analyzed for the detection of HEV. One HEV strain was detected from guanaco, a species of camelids. The nucleotide sequence of guanaco HEV was identical to those of deer HEV-3 strains, which implied the cross-species transmission of HEV-3 from deer to guanaco.

        이 글은 근ㆍ현대 한국불교 예송의례의 아우라에 대해 전승과 변용을 변 증법적으로 고찰한 논문이다. 이를 위해 먼저 의례서적의 편찬 방식 등을 기준으로, 대각교의식과 석문의범 등이 편찬된 20세기 초중반을 근대 로, 불교의식을 현대와 같은 방식으로 편찬하기 시작한 20세기 중후반을 현 대로 상정하고 논의를 전개하였다. 현행 조석의 7정례는 대웅전에 모신 존상과 큰 관련이 없는, 주전에서의 전통 예참의식 형태로서, 사찰의 전 대중이 참여하는 일상의례인데, 근대불 교시기에 유사한 양태로 성립되기 시작하여 점차 변형을 겪으며 현대불교시 기에 이르러 현행 양태로 변용되었다. 7정례가 한국불교사찰에 널리 보급된 것은 사실이라고 할 수 있지만 한국의 모든 사찰에서 동일하게 설행되는 의 식이라고 할 수는 없을 것 같다. 사찰의 새벽을 알리는 도량석이 현재와 같 이 활용된 시기와 의미 등을 단정할 수는 없으나, 야간에 행해지는 시식(施 食) 의식의 결계(結界)에 대(對)되는 의식이라고 할 수 있다. 우연의 일치 일지 모르지만 현재 법성게가 ‘도량석’에서 주로 염송되는데, 이는 시식의식 에 초대된 존재들이[諸法] 본래의 붓다[名爲佛]이고 그곳으로 돌아가라는 의미라고 할 수 있으므로, 그 의미와 역할이 묘하게 부합된다. 범종각의 사 물인 법기들은 식당에서 출가 승려들이 음식을 먹을 때 울리던 것으로, 사 찰에 재승(齋僧: 승려공양)이 들어왔을 때 야외에서 식당을 차리고 음식을 먹는 행위를 지휘하는 지휘소와 같은 역할을 하는 유나소인 종루(鐘樓)에서 활용되게 되어 종각에 모이게 되었다. 이 같은 역사 속에 예경과 송주의 도 량석이나 종각의 사물은 본래 의미를 잃어버렸으나 각 의식과 사물은 탄생 의 연기를 환기하여 깨달음을 되새기는 역할을 하고 있다고 보인다.

        지상파 방송프로그램은 직접수신비율이 높지 않은 반면, 방송산업에서 시청자의 선호도는 가장 높은 킬러콘텐츠이다. 종합유선방송사업자(이하 ‘SO’라 한다)의 출범이후, 지상파방송사는 SO가 지상파방송프로그램을 무상으로 재송신할 수 있게 하였고, 이를 통해 지상파방송사는 광고 수 익을 극대화 시켜왔다. 그러나 지난 2009년 이후 지상파방송사와 SO간 재송신 행위가 난시청 해소를 위한 수신보조 행위인가에 대하여 분쟁이 있어왔고, 법원이 수신보조행위를 넘어 SO의 독자적인 방송사업에 해당 한다는 판결을 내림으로서 이들 분쟁은 새로운 국면을 맞게 되었다. 지 상파방송사의 저작권이 인정된 만큼, SO의 전송 선로설비 사용에 대해 서도 합리적인 사용료를 지급하여야 한다는 논의가 있으며, 이러한 대가 산정의 공정성을 위해서는 지상파 동시재송신의 대상이 되는 ‘방송프로그 램’에 ‘방송광고’가 포함되는지에 대한 검토가 선행되어야 한다. 재송신대 상에 지상파광고가 포함되는지에 대한 검토가 중요한 이유로는 첫째, 광 고수익을 주 수익원으로 하고 있는 지상파방송사업이 송출과정에서 있어 서는 시청자의 직접 수신 비율이 매우 낮다는 점, 둘째, 이러한 지상파방 송 수신 과정에 있어 국민대다수가 유료방송플랫폼의 전송 선로설비를 활용하고 있다는 점, 그러나 지상파 동시재송신 대상이 되는 ‘방송프로그 램’에 ‘방송광고’가 포함되는 지 여부가 법률상 불명확 하다는 점 등이다. 따라서 본 고에서는 지상파 동시재송신 대상이 되는 ‘방송프로그램’에 ‘지상파광고’가 포함되는지 여부를 검토 하였다. 우선 “방송광고”를 “방송 프로그램”에 포함시키지 않고 각각 분리하여 다루는 것이 업계 관행이며 기존 연구들의 전제된 사항이라고 볼 수 있다. 다음으로 지상파 재송신 제도의 취지 자체가 보편적 서비스 구현의 보장이 전제되어 있으나, ‘광 고’의 재송신은 시청자의 보편적 시청권 보장을 내용으로 하는 공공성에 해당되는 것이라고 볼 수 없다. 또한 지상파방송사와 SO의 관계가 경쟁 체계로 변화하였고 양자 간의 공정경쟁 측면에서 볼 때 합리적 이유 없 이 방송프로그램에 방송광고가 포함된다고 해석하는 것은 지상파방송사 일방에게만 유리한 법적 해석으로 타당하지 않다. 따라서 지상파 동시재 송신의 대상이 되는 ‘방송프로그램’에 ‘방송광고’는 포함되지 않는다고 해석하는 것이 타당하다. 그러나 궁극적으로 이러한 해석의 모호함으 로 야기되는 혼란을 개선하기 위한 가장 바람직한 방안은 법률의 개정 을 통해 지상파 동시재송신 대상인 ‘방송프로그램’에 ‘방송광고’가 포함되 지 않음을 명확히 하는 것이다.

        In this paper, classification of spall and crack faults of gear teeth is studied by applying the ensemble empirical mode decomposition(EEMD) for the gear transmission error(TE). Finite element models of the gears with the two faults are built, and TE is obtained by simulation of the gears under loaded contact. EEMD is applied to the residuals of the TE which are the difference between the normal and faulty signal. From the result, the difference of spall and crack faults are clearly identified by the intrinsic mode functions(IMF). A simple test bed is installed to illustrate the approach, which consists of motor, brake and a pair of spur gears. Two gears are employed to obtain the TE for the normal, spalled, and cracked gears, and the type of the faults are separated by the same EEMD application process. In order to quantify the results, crest factors are applied to each IMF. Characteristics of spall and crack are well represented by the crest factors of the first and the third IMF, which are used as the feature signals. The classification is carried out using the Bayes decision theory using the feature signals acquired through the experiments.

        Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) causes a highly serious disease in tomatoes in many countries. The most important thing in management is the prevention of virus transmission. TYLCV had been known to be only transmitted by a vector, the sweetpotato whitelfy, Bemisia tabaci. However, we identified two other important routes of TYLCV transmission into tomatoes. It is seed-transmissible. Many seeds available in domestic and global markets were infected by TYLCV. It is also infective into various weeds and other horticultural crops and transmit virus through vector insects. Therefore, we need a new strategy for the virus and vector management.

        There is a growing concern on the improvement of water distribution pipeline for multi-regional water supply system in Korea along with its aging infrastructure. Rehabilitation of large diameter pipeline is more efficient in cost and time compared to replacement with trenching. The procedure for rehabilitation are diagnosis, cleaning, spraying coating material, and final inspection. The internal state of pipeline was carefully diagnosed and got C grade, which required rehabilitation. We found that 17,274,787,000 Korean won could be saved after pipe surface coating because of increased C coefficient of Hazen-Williams equation. Optimal coating material was D polyurea. We also found optimal distance between spraying nozzle and pipe wall to be 70 - 80 cm, which were critical factors for coating quality. This study also illustrated the time for spray drying to be more than 30 min. These results could be used in the quality control process during rehabilitation of aged pipelines.

        본 연구는 다목적 관리기의 동력전달 시스템이 가혹한 작동환경에서 겪는 응력상황에 대한 분석을 유한요소해석을 수행함으로써, 기계요소의 안전성을 평가하는 한편, 개선 방안을 도출하고자 진행되었다. 엔진으로부터 작업기에 이르는 과정에 존재하는 동력전달 시스템은 엔진의 출력이 과도하게 인가될 경우 매우 높은 수준의 응력을 나타낼 우려가 있으며 따라서 이와 같은 가혹한 조건을 고려하기 위하여 동력전달 시스템의 출력축이 정지된 상황을 가정하여 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 볼클러치(Ball-clutch)와 PTO 조인트(Power take-off joint)에 대하여 응력해석을 수행한 결과 허용접촉응력 이상의 높은응력이 국부적으로 발생한다는 사실을 확인하였고, 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 접촉부의 형상을 변경하여 추가적인 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 접촉부의 모서리에 일정 반경의 모깎기를 적용하거나 기계요소의 형상을 변화시켜 접촉면의 위치를 바꿈으로서 과도한 응력집중을 방지할 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 보다 우수한 내구성 및 신뢰성을 지닌 다목적 관리기를 개발할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        The Korean peninsula has known as a minor-to-moderate seismic region. However, some recent studies had shown that the maximum possible earthquake magnitude in the region is approximately 6.3-6.5. Therefore, a seismic vulnerability assessment of the existing infrastructures considering ground motions in Korea is necessary. In this study, we developed seismic fragility curves for a continuous steel box girder bridge and two typical transmission towers, in which a set of seven artificial and natural ground motions recorded in South Korea is used. A finite element simulation framework, OpenSees, is utilized to perform nonlinear time history analyses of the bridge and a commercial software, SAP2000, is used to perform time history analyses of the transmission towers. The fragility curves based on Korean ground motions were then compared with the fragility curves generated using worldwide ground motions to evaluate the effect of the two ground motion groups on the seismic fragility curves of the structures. The results show that both non-isolated and base-isolated bridges are less vulnerable to the Korean ground motions than to worldwide earthquakes. Similarly to the bridge case, the transmission towers are safer during Korean motions than that under worldwide earthquakes in terms of fragility functions.

        4H- and 6H-SiC grown by physical vapor transport method were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). From the TEM diffraction patterns observed along the [11-20] zone axis, 4H- and 6H-SiC were identified due to their additional diffraction spots, indicating atomic stacking sequences. However, identification was not possible in the [10-10] zone axis due to the absence of additional diffraction spots. Basal plane dislocations (BPDs) were investigated in the TEM specimen prepared along the [10-10] zone axis using the two-beam technique. BPDs were two Shockley partial dislocations with a stacking fault (SF) between them. Shockley partial BPDs arrayed along the [0001] growth direction were observed in the investigated 4H-SiC. This arrayed configuration of Shockley partial BPDs cannot be recognized from the plan view TEM with the [0001] zone axis. The evaluated distances between the two Shockley partial dislocations for the investigated samples were similar to the equilibrium distance, with values of several hundreds of nanometers or even values as large as over a few micrometers.

        Pressure monitoring is expected to be expanded in a water distribution system according to accelerated development of smart water network management technologies caused by appearances of affordable digital infrastructures like computing, storage and bandwidth. However, the placement of pressure sensors has been determined by engineer’s technical decisions since there is no well-defined criteria for deciding a suitable location of pressure sensor. This study presents a placement method of pressure sensors based on the consideration of allowable error in calibrating water network analysis modeling. The proposed method is to find a minimum set of pressure sensors for achieving a reliable management of water transmissions main and increasing the efficiency of their real-time operation. In the case study in Y area’s transmission main, the proposed method shows equally distributed pressure sensors in terms of hydraulics. It is expected that the proposed method can be used to manage transmission mains stably and construct a robust real-time network analysis system as a minimal criteria.

        The Ixodid ticks has been suspected to be the vector of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) in Korea. In order to confirm transovarial transmission of Ixodid ticks, a total of blood fed 284 ticks were collected from six host animals. They were identified as 3 genera and 4 species, Haemaphysalis longicornis (97.2%), H. flava (0.7%), Ixodes nipponensis (1.8%) and Amblyomma testudinarium (0.4%). Among them, 192 female adults hatched their eggs successfully. Our results showed a high prevalence of SFTSV among collected ticks (3.1%, 6/192 ticks), and we detected SFTSV from their larvae. This result suggests that the parent generation of H. longicornis can transmit SFTSV transovarially into their F1 progeny and H. longicornis might be one of major vectors of SFTSV in Korea.

        Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) is a rapid, specific, cost-effective detection method by amplifying nucleic acid under isothermal conditions. In this study, we used LAMP for detection of Hamiltonella defensa that lives as a facultive endosymbiont of whitefly ‘Bemisia tabaci’. We designed the Hamiltonella-specific primers by targeting 16S ribosomal RNA gene and validated the specificity of one primer set. To find the optimum temperature for our primer set, the LAMP reaction was held at the temperature, 60℃, 62℃ and 65℃. As a result, 62℃ was the optimum reation temperature for LAMP reaction. Specificity of primer set was tested by the reaction to both Trialeurodes vaporariorum and B. tabaci. After the whole procedure, the amplicons by LAMP were visualized by adding SYBR Green to the reaction tube.

        Ixodid ticks are notorious as the vector of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) in Korea. To confirm the transovarial transmission of SFTSV, we collected blood-fed adult ticks from animals in SFTS case reported area of Jeju island in 2015. A total of 476 ticks were collected from four host animal species, horse (81.3%), dog (9.0%), roe deer (7.1%) and wild boar (2.5%). They were identified as 1 genus and 2 species, Haemaphysalis longicornis (87.8%) and H. flava (12.2%). Among them, 131 adults hatched their eggs successfully. The body weight of females was highly correlated with the number of egg masses laid (P < 0.05). We confirmed that one adult H. flava was infected with SFTSV and its infection rate was 0.77%. The eggs of the SFTSV-infected adults also were infected with SFTSV and its transovarial transmission was confirmed. This result suggests that the parent generation of H. flava could transmit SFTSV transovarially into their F1 progeny and H. flava might be one of major vectors of SFTSV in Korea.
