        목적: 500 mL 용량의 식염수가 한국에서는 콘택트렌즈 헹굼에 흔히 사용되고 있기 때문에 본 연구에서는 콘택트렌즈 착용자가 사용한 대용량 식염수의 미생물 오염과 관련된 위험 요인을 분석하였다. 방법: 120명의 소프트콘택트렌즈 착용자를 모집하고 식염수를 나누어 준 후 이들이 사용한 식염수를 수집하여 분석하였다. 사용한 식염수의 미생물 오염상태는 세균의 집락수 (colony-forming units)로 평가하였고, 세균의 종류는 유전자 중합효소반응(Polymerase Chain Reaction, PCR)으로 얻은 DNA 서열을 자동 염기서열분석기 및 BLAST 분석기를 이용하여 동정하였다. 식염수 오염에 영향을 미치는 요인은 카이제곱검정, 상관분석 및 다중회기분석으로 분석하였다. 결과: 수집된 식염수 중 45%가 세균에 오염되었으며 7종의 감염성 세균을 포함한 27종의 세균이 검출 되었다. 세균의 오염은 무방부제 식염수, 구멍이 뚫린 용기, 식염수 사용기간 및 렌즈착용 전의 손 세척 습관과 상관성이 있었다. 결론: 방부제가 포함된 식염수는 구멍이 뚫려있지 않은 용기에 적은 용량으로, 무방부제 식염수는 1회용으로 제조되어야 할 것이며, 콘택트렌즈 착용자에게는 관리방법에 대한 재교육이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

        Nivalenol (NIV), deoxynivalenol (DON), T-2 toxin (T-2) and zearalenone (ZEN) are mycotoxins produced by some Fusarium species known to be very frequently contaminated in feed. The study for simultaneous analysis and contamination survey in animal feed carried out. All mycotoxins were analysed by using high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass with internal standard. The limits of detection (LOD) were 2.0 μg/kg,1.0 μg/kg, 1.0 μg/kg and 0.1 μg/kg for NIV, DON, T-2 and ZEN, respectively. Two hundred and thirty nine samples of feed were collected. The average concentration of DON was 212.3 μg/kg, 207.8 μg/kg and 812.1 μg/kg in chicken,pig and cattle feed, respectively. The average concentration of ZEN was 31.2 μg/kg, 35.6 μg/kg and 147.2 μg/kg for them, respectively. Especially, the levels of contamination for DON and ZEN were higher than those of NIV or T-2. And, the levels of contamination for four Fusarium mycotoxins in cattle feed appeared higher than those of pig and chicken feed. It was investigated that the high level of mycotoxin contamination in cattle feed was caused by corn gluten feed of ingredients for feed, mainly.

        This study was conducted to evaluate the microbial contamination levels in the processing company of Nuroong-ji. Microbial contamination levels were examined for sanitary indication bacteria such as aerobic plate count, coliforms and fungi, and pathogenic bacteria such as Escherchia coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, and Listeria monocytogenes. Contamination levels were detected differently according to handling materials and purposing work-space. The equipments and raw materials were not seriously contaminated but there were necessary to attend the cross-contamination. A high contamination level was detected at the process where the interference of the employees was relatively higher than the other process. Standardization of the roasting process (120~170℃, about 10 min) could be necessary to control the microbial organism effectively on Nuroong-ji manufacturing process. At small/medium size foodstuff manufacturers, it is the most important to improve the recognition level of individual hygiene but also expand a hygiene facility.

        The present study was to investigate the source of contamination during semen processing for in vitro uses. In the present study, frozen semen was prepared from liquid semen in our laboratory for in vitro fertilization (IVF) experiments due to lack of fresh semen. Antibiotics were added in the frozen semen extender (kanamycin and gentamicin) and in vitro culture (IVC) medium (gentamicin) for further inhibiting growth of microorganisms. Nevertheless, proliferations of microorganisms were observed in IVC culture drop during culturing of IVF embryos using frozen semen. Randomly 3 samples were taken from the liquid semen, frozen semen and egg yolk. Contaminated IVC medium, frozen-thawed semen, liquid semen and egg yolk were cultured in de Man, Rogosa and Sharpe (MRS) agar medium. Whitish colonies were detected in contaminated IVC drop, frozen-thawed semen samples and egg yolk but no colonies were formed in liquid semen samples. Gram-negative and rod-shaped identical bacteria were found in both frozen-thawed semen sample and contaminated IVC drop and egg yolk samples. Enterobacter cloacae were confirmed by API 20E kit according to manufacturer's instruction with identification value (% ID) 94.3% and T index 0.88. Antibiotic susceptibility tests were done according to Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) by using ampicillin, amikacin, cephalothin, gentamicin, kanamycin, tetracycline, oxytetracycline, sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim, norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin test. Among them Enterobacter cloacae were resistant to ampicillin, amikacin, cephalothin, gentamicin, kanamycin but susceptible to tetracycline, oxytetracycline, sulfamethoxazole trimethoprim, norfloxacin and ciprofloxacin. From these findings it could be suggested that this contamination sources might be from egg yolk.

        In order to ensure good animal health and performance, it is essential to produce forages with high feeding value and good hygienic quality. However, huge amounts of forages consumed by ruminants are contaminated with mold prior to harvest or during storage as hay, straw or silage. These mold can grow in forages only when nutrients are available, correct temperature exist, oxygen is present, and unbound water is available. Fungal 'species can be divided into two groups: field fungi and storage fungi. Field fungi invade the forages while the crop is still in the fíeld, require high moisture conditions, and are such as species of Fusarium, Alternaria, Clodosporium, Diplodia, Gibberrella and Helminthosporium. Storage fungi invade forages during storage and need less moisture than fíeld fungi. These such as species of Aspergillus and Penicillium usually do not occur any problem before harvest. Mold growth can spoil the nutritional aspects of the forages and also results in secondary metabolites that are highly toxic to animal, humans and plants. Moldy feeds are less palatable and may reduce dry matter intake. This, in turn, leads to a reduction of nutrition intake, reducing weight gains or milk production. Performance losses of 5 to 10 percent are typical with moldy feeds. Mycotoxins are toxic substances produced by fungi (molds) growing on crops in the field or storages. While greater than 400 mycotoxins have been chemically identified, the biological or veterinary medical impact of only several mycotoxins is known. Mycotoxins have attracted considerable attention as potential causes for poor performance and health disorders in domestic livestock. They can be carcinogenic, hepatotoxic, hematotoxic, immunosuppressive, estrogenic, or mutagenic. So, feeding moldy forages has adverse effects on animal health and milk consumers. AIso, this author reported that rice straw hay was contaminated mycotoxigenic fungi such as Penicillium roqueforti and Fusarium culmorum in Korea. Therefore, it is an urgent need to develop an improved post harvest storage method to reduce nutrient loss and mycotoxin contamination of forages, which will have a positive impact on human health.

        Aflatoxin (AF) and Ochratoxin A (OTA) are carcinogenic and possible carcinogenic mycotoxins respectively produced by Aspergillus spp or Penicillium spp. The study for contamination survey and proposal for reduction of mycotoxin in red pepper were carried out. 192 samples were collected at such various stages and markets as pre/post-harvest stages, internet shopping mall /super-market and small stakeholder mill/geographically indicated company. As only 2 samples were positive for aflatoxin, so contamination rate was 1.04%. In the meanwhile, contamination rate for ochratoxin A was 21.88% and a various amount of OTA was detected in 42 positive samples. 6 samples were found to be contaminated at higher level than 5 μgkg−1 for ochratoxin A, which was established recently as a maximum permissible limit in korea. There was no difference in degree of contamination with regard to cultivation type because any mycotoxin was not found at all in both organically and conventionally grown red pepper. But, there was statistically significant difference in the process of manufacturing. Finished products were OTA-contaminated at a level of 2.32 ± 6.54 μgkg−1(mean ± SD), even though OTA was not detected in deep frozen red peppers right after long term storage. And contamination for OTA was a level of 0.33 ± 0.91 μgkg−1(mean ± SD) in red paprika powder after uv sterilization, while the contamination for OTA was 2.78 ± 4.49 μgkg−1(mean ± SD) in non-uv sterilized powder. In addition, our investigation shows that higher OTA contamination occurred in some of famous brand products sold in super-market and domestic products than products collected through on-line shopping or from small stakeholder mills and imported products respectively, however, difference was not statistically significant.

        Since equipment currently being used in the department of radiological technology in hospitals comes into contact with patients carrying diseases, there inevitably will be the existence of pathogenic bacteria. Therefore, in order to increase the importance of using disinfectant in hospital infection precaution and the recognition of hospital infection management, comparisons were made by measuring the bacterial contamination levels in radiology room within the department of radiological technology and comparing the measurements with post disinfection levels. Disinfecting the rooms from detected bacteria was conducted with water, tissue cleaner, or 70% alcohol. When measuring bacterial contamination levels in radiology rooms, a variety of bacteria was detected. When disinfecting the interior of radiology rooms the effectiveness of destroying bacteria and preventing hospital infection was greatest when using 70% alcohol compared to water, tissue cleaner and ventilation. Therefore, there needs to be a development of a better antiseptic for destroying bacteria because there is a possibility for hospital medical equipment to be constantly contaminated. Efforts need to be made to prevent hospital infections and patient secondary infection by disinfecting and sterilizing equipment.

        Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA)-treated wood has been widely used in Korea since 1980s, but the release of chromium, copper, and arsenic from the wood has been reported to cause environmental contamination. This study was aimed at investigating the environmental impact of brook water and sediment from the construction of cylindrical wood piles around a brook (partially immersed in the water) and wood bridge structures over the brook. Ten water and ten composite sediment samples (including one control for each) were collected from sites where a large number of treated wood structures were installed. Samples were analyzed for total chromium, copper, and arsenic using atomic absorption spectroscopy. Water contamination was not observed in all samples, but metal concentrations in the sediment samples were elevated at most sites, indicating the accumulation of metals in the sediment. This study suggested that the use of CCA-treated wood by continuos contact with water can lead to marked leaching of metal components and may ultimately cause health effects on aquatic organisms living on or in the sediment.

        This study was carried out to analyse the microbiological contamination and biogenic amines(BA) content in Korea traditional soybean paste and commercial soybean paste. The results of microbiological anaylsis through Korean traditional soybean pastes(L1~L4) were 7.8 ± 0.1 log CFU/g ~ 7.9 ± 0.1 log CFU/g, commercial soybean pastes(H1~H6) were 6.2 ± 0.1 log CFU/g ~ 7.4 ± 0.1 log CFU/g for APC (Aerobic Plate Count), and L1~L4, H5, H6 soybean pastes were 2.3 ± 0.4 log CFU/g ~ 2.6 ± 0.1 log CFU/g for Bacillus cereus. But other microorganism was not dectected. Among biogenic amines, PUT(putrescine), TYR(tyramine), HIS(histamine), PHE(2-Phenylethylamine) were dectected high level and CAD(cadaverine), TRY(tryptamine), AGM(agmatine) were dectected medium level and SPD(spermidine), SPM(spermine), NOR(noradrenaline), SER(serotonin) were dectected low level. Dectected contents of biogenic amines were higher in commercial soybean paste compared to the traditional soybean paste.

        국제원자력기구 (IAEA)가 주관하는 EMRAS (Environmental Modeling for RAdiation Safety) 프로그램의 도시오염 평가분과에서 설계한 가상의 도심에서 방사능 분산장치의 폭발로 인한 피폭선량 결과비교에 국내모델 METRO-K의 계산결과가 참여하였다. 본 논문에서는 동 분과에서 수행된 수많은 계산결과 중에서 극히 일부분만을 집중적으로 논의하였다. 참가모델 (METRO-K, RESRAD-RDD, CPHR)이 수행한 예측결과의 차이는 다른 수학적 접근방식, 적용값, 평가자의 이해 등에 기인하였다. 비록 최종결과 (예로 영향을 주는 모든 오염표면으로부터 받게 되는 피폭선량률)는 유사할지 모르지만 오염표면 기여에 대한 이해등에 있어서는 큰 차이를 나타냈다. 이는 평가자가 경험한 사회적, 문화적 차이 뿐 아니라 방사능테러에 대한 정보와 이해 부족으로 판단된다. 따라서 이러한 정보가 부족한 상황에서는 평가자의 경험과 주관적 판단이 무엇보다 중요하다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 방사능테러에 대한 약간의 추가적 정보를 획득할 수 있다면 METRO-K는 기존 모델을 확장하여 만일의 경우 도심에서 발생할 수 있을지 모르는 방사능테러에 따른 대응행위 결정지원에 충분히 활용할 수 있음을 EMRAS 프로그램을 통해 확인할 수 있었다.

        청동합금인 우리 전통 식기 놋그릇 유기 소재의 항미생물 특성을 연구하기 위해 주요한 식중독 세균인 Salmonella spp., E. coli O157, E. sakazakii, B. cereus의 배양액을 유기, 구리, 주석, 스테인레스 스틸 쿠폰에 노출 건조 후 생균정도를 분석하였다. 이들 금속표면에서의 살균력 측정결과 Gram(-) 세균인 S. Typhimurium, E. coli와 E. sakazakii는 구리가 가장 높았고 유기, 주석표면, 스테인레스 스틸 금속표면 순으로 항균성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 Gram(+)인 B.cereus의 살균효과는 어느 금속표면에서도 살균효과가 거의 나타나지 않았다. S. Typhimurium, E. coli와 E. sakazakii의 구리이온(Cu+2) 최소생육저해 농도는 25 ppm이었지만 B. cereus의 경우는 50 ppm으로 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 구리와는 다르게 강한 경도를 갖고 있는 유기 소재를 식품제조 환경에 적용시킬 경우 Salmonella spp.를 포함한 주요한 Gram(-) 세균의 교차오염을 효과적으로 저감화할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

        본 연구에서는 대표적인 즉석섭취식품 5종(김밥, 초밥, 회, 샐러드, 샌드위치)에 대한 미생물 모니터링 검사를 실시하여, 이들 제품에 대한 위생 안전성 확보를 위한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 진행되었다. 이를 위해 전국의 대형 백화점, 할인점, 슈퍼 등지에서 판매되는 즉석섭취식품 5종, 총 440품목을 수거하여 위생지표세균 검사 및 식중독균 검사를 실시하였다. 제품별로는 초밥이 20.4%로 가장 높은 미생물 검출율을 보였으며, 그 다음으로 13.3%의 김밥, 12.5%의 회, 6.9%의 샐러드, 2.8%의 샌드위치의 순서로 나타났다. 검출된 미생물을 살펴 보면 황색포도상구균이 6.6%로 가장 많이 검출되었으며, 다음은 2.7%의 대장균군, 2.3%의 리스테리아균, 0.7%의 바실러스 세레우스균, 0.5%의 대장균 순서로 검출되었으며, 장염비브리오균과 살모넬라균은 검출되지 않았다. 검출된 황색포도상구균의 정량분석 결과는 전체적으로 200~5,500 cfu/g 의 분포를 보였으며, 평균적으로는 600 cfu/g을 나타내었다.
