이 논문은 남한지역을 대상으로 전기청동기시대의 주거와 환호, 청동기 부장 분묘, 대형 주구묘와 군집묘의 형성, 청동기 소유 주거, 환구 취락의 조성과 운영 등에 주목하여 당시의 사회구조에 대해서 검토한 글이다. 주거공간에서 확인되는 주거 간의 차별화는 취락을 이끄는 지도자 또는 유력자 및 그 의 가족들과 나머지 취락 구성원 간의 차이를 반영하는 것으로 파악하였다. 내환호와 외환호를 경계 로 배치된 대형 주거와 소형 주거의 분포 양상을 갖는 환호취락의 사례가 이를 잘 보여준다. 청동기를 소유한 주거의 존재와 청동 무기를 부장한 분묘의 등장은 요동지역 비파형동검문화와 관련된 것으로 긴장, 갈등, 대립 관계의 산물이면서 당시 사회의 계층분화적, 무장적 성격을 반영한다. 신성한 의례 공간인 환구, 그리고 이와 관련한 대형 가옥의 배치 양상은 엘리트 제사장의 존재를 추정할 수 있는 근거로 볼 수 있다. 이를 통해서 볼 때 전기청동기시대의 사회구조는 상위계층과 일반계층으로 구성 된 것으로 추정된다. 상위계층은 취락의 지도자(권위자)이면서 제사장의 성격을 가지는데, 이 상위계 층의 지위는 한시적인 성취 지위에 해당한다. 남한지역의 전기청동기 사회는 복합사회로 향해가는 긴 여정에서 중요한 기폭제가 되는 시기로 볼 수 있다. 이전 시기에 보이지 않았던 환호와 환구, 분묘와 청동기의 등장과 발전 양상은 전기청동기시대가 사회복합도가 증가한 서열사회에 해당한다는 것을 말 해준다.
A phenylboric acid functionalized carbon dot (2-FPBA-CD) for rapid fluorescent sensing of glucose in blood was synthesized by simply mixing N, S-doped carbon dots (CDs) with phenylboric acid at room temperature. At pH 7.4, the response of 2-FPBA-CD to glucose could reach equilibrium in a very short time (10 min), with a wide responsive linear range of 19.70 μM to 2.54 mM, which can be applied to the detection of glucose in serum. The mechanism studies showed that the layered carbon film of 2-FPBA-CD aggregated after adding glucose, thereby leading to the fluorescence quenching of 2-FPBA-CD.
In the “宀” radical of Shuowen Jiezi (說文解字): “家,凥也。从宀,豭省聲。𠖔,古文 家.” Duan Yucai believed that, the character “家” (jia) is composed of the radicals “宀” and “豕”, and should be classified under the radical “豕” instead of “宀”. The so-called “豭省聲” mentioned by Xu Shen is baseless. Based on the research of scholars in the Qing Dynasty, as well as the evidence from oracle bone inscriptions and bronze inscriptions, it can be concluded that “豭” is a newly created character, and its ancient form should be “𢑓”, which is “豕” with an additional semantic stroke indicating a male pig. The original intention of “豭省聲” should be to omit the character form of “叚” while preserve the pronunciation of “叚”. This takes into account both the ideographic character “家” derived from “ (𢑓)” and the phonetic-semantic character “家” derived from “ (豭)”. Duan Yucai proposed the concepts of “the original meaning of character creation” and “the original sense of character usage” to distinguish between the original meaning and the extended borrowed meaning, which is the value of his theory.
Sulfamonomethoxine (SMM) is widely used to inhibit Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, and improper use of SMM is detrimental to human health and ecological stability. Therefore, a sensitive determination method is of great importance for monitoring SMM residues in water, meat, milk, eggs, etc. Herein, a Pt-functionalized S-doped graphitic carbon nitride (Pt/Sg- C3N4) was constructed for the electrochemical determination of SMM. The as-developed Pt3/ S3-g-C3N4 sensor showed a significant SMM determination performance. The electrochemical oxidation of SMM on Pt3/ S3-g-C3N4/GCE involves two electron transference and was limited by a diffusion process. The as-developed Pt3/ S3-g-C3N4/GCE sensor has good linearity in a wide range of 0.1–120 μmol/L and a remarkably low limit of detection (LOD) of 0.026 μmol/L for SMM determination. In addition, the sensor has high selectivity and anti-interference properties for SMM detection. Furthermore, this Pt3/ S3-g- C3N4/GCE sensor has good reproducibility and stability. Moreover, the recoveries were in the range of 89.6–112.2% for the detection of the SMM in a real sample of egg. The proposed Pt3/ S3-g-C3N4/GCE sensor shows great potential for practical applications in detecting trace amounts of antibiotics.
The Euonymus defoliator moth, Pryeria sinica Moore (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae), is a pest that causes considerable damage to the Euonymus genus, especially Euonymus alatus and Euonymus japonicus. The biological characteristics of P. sinica have been studied in China, Japan, Taiwan, and the United States, but there has been no research conducted on this species in Korea. Also, P. sinica has two dormant phases in each generation, one as eggs in winter and the other as pupae in summer. Our purposes are to study the biological characteristics of Korean populations of P. sinica and to examine the effects of temperature and photoperiod on summer diapause. The biological characteristics were investigated in laboratory conditions (25 ± 1 ℃, 65 ± 1% R.H., 16L:8D) and the number of eggs in an egg mass, developmental periods and mortality rate in each larvae stage, and adults’ life span were determined. The results showed that 190.7 ± 31.64 eggs were contained in one egg mass and it took 25.57 ± 0.61 days from 1st larval stage to the pre-pupal stage. P. sinica has 4 larval stages and each stage took 4.28 ± 0.21, 6.2 ± 0.55, 6.02 ± 0.68, and 8.93 ± 0.88 days. The mortality rate of larvae peaked at 22.5% in 3rd larval stage. The adults’ life span was 4.67 ± 0.97 days in males and 4.61 ± 1.82 days in females. To study summer diapause, we divided pupae into 4 groups. Both low temperature and short daytime were effective in shortening the pupal stage. The pupal stage was the shortest in group D (122.12 ± 1.24 days), in which the initial condition was 25 ℃-16L:8D and the altered condition was 16 ℃ -12L:12D, and the longest in group A (161.92 ± 3.15 days, 25 ℃-16L:8D). These data could be utilized to propose the optimal timing for controlling the population of P. sinica.
This study investigates the phenomenon of task specialization in subterranean termites, focusing on their tunneling behavior. Termites, known for their complex social structure, allocate specific individuals for tunnel construction, rarely switching tasks. To explore this behavior, we developed a simulation model comparing termite groups with and without task shifts. While tunnel orientation showed no significant difference between the two tunnel pattern groups, the absence of task shifts resulted in larger tunnels, indicating enhanced foraging efficiency. This suggests that maintaining a consistent division of labor without task rotation benefits termite foraging. This study sheds light on the ecological advantages of task specialization in social insects, highlighting its role in foraging success and colony survival.
4-Nitrophenol (4NP) is a vital intermediate in organic industries, and its exploitation creates serious environmental issues. We propose a fluorescence quenching-based strategy with nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots (NS-CDs) for highly sensitive 4NP detection with excellent selectivity. The NS-CDs are produced through the hydrothermal process, in which citric acid serves as a carbon source and cysteamine hydrochloride as a source of N and S. The effect of doping was also studied by synthesizing undoped CDs and examining their properties. As-developed NS-CDs exhibit a bright cyan blue color with maximum emission centered at 465 nm. The fluorescence of NS-CDs is significantly quenched in an approximately linear fashion with increasing 4NP concentration (7.5–97.5 μM). The inner filter effect (IFE) and static quenching (SQ) between NS-CDs and 4NP are responsible for such fluorescence reduction. The fluorimetry technique enables the quantification of 4NP with a limit of detection (LOD) of about 0.028 μM. Moreover, the fluorescence quenching is tested for several other chemical compounds but they generate false quenching signals; only 4NP leads to fluorescence quenching of NS-CDs, demonstrating excellent selectivity. The “turn-off” fluorescence properties and visually apparent color change of the fluorescent probe reveal the excellent performance for 4NP sensing. The NS-CDs’ capability of quantifying 4NP in real water samples (tap water and drinking water) produces an excellent recovery rate ranging between 96.24 and 98.36%.
After the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement (UNFSA) came into effect, international cooperation through Regional Fisheries Management Organizations (RFMOs) was required, and each RFMO established and adopted the Conservation and Management Measure (CMM) for the regional Observer Programs to collect data on fishing activities and biological information and to monitor compliance with its CMMs. The observer coverage required by RFMO is set differently for each organization, ranging from 5% to 100%. In addition, tuna-RFMOs recommend increasing observer coverage in longline fisheries by at least 20% for reliable quantitative analysis of not only target species but also bycatch species and ecologically related species such as sharks, seabirds, sea turtles, and marine mammals. Therefore, in this study, we discussed ways to improve the national observer programs of Korean distant water fisheries that should be addressed in the future to respond to the RFMO trends.
Sulfur and nitrogen co-doped carbon dots (NSCDs) were quickly synthesized by the microwave-assisted method from triammonium citrate and thiourea. NSCDs showed a quantum yield of 11.5% with excitation and emission bands at 355 and 432 nm, respectively. Also, a fluorescence quenching was observed in the presence of Pb(II) ions, and the as-synthesized CDs were used as a sensitive probe for detecting Pb(II) in water and food samples. The results showed the optimal conditions for Pb(II) determination were CDs concentration of 0.02 mg mL− 1 at pH 6.0–7.0 and an incubation time of 20 min. The relative fluorescence intensity of NSCDs was proportional to Pb(II) concentrations in the range of 0.029–2.40 and 2.40–14.4 μmol L− 1 with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.998 and 0.955, respectively, and a detection limit of 9.2 × 10– 3 μmol L− 1. Responses were highly repeatable, with a standard deviation below 3.5%. The suggested method demonstrates the potential of a green, fast, and low-cost approach for Pb(II) determination in water, tea, and rice samples with satisfying results.
최근 기후변화에 따라 아열대 작물 재배가 증가하면서 경남지역 망고 재배면적도 크게 증가하고 있다. 하지만 망고에 발생하는 병해충 발생 정보가 부족하여 2022년부터 현재까지 경남지역에 있는 망고농장을 조사하였으 며, 그 결과 병해 6종, 해충 8종 발생을 확인하였다. 특히 경남지역 망고 포장에서 꽃노랑총채벌레, 대만총채벌레, 볼록총채벌레 등의 발생을 확인하였고, 통영, 함안, 밀양 등에서 총채벌레류에 의한 피해가 발생하였다. 많은 농가에서 총채벌레류 방제를 위해 화학농약에 의존하고 있으나 총채벌레는 반복적인 약제 노출시 빠른 세대 진전으로 인해 저항성 발달이 쉽기때문에 방제에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하고자 색상별 끈끈이 트랩의 총채벌레류 유인효과를 확인하였으며, 꽃노랑총채벌레는 노랑, 주황, 연두, 대만총채벌레는 빨강, 노랑, 파랑, 볼록총채벌레는 파랑, 노랑, 빨강 순으로 유인효과가 높은 것을 확인하였다.
The family Asilidae(robber flies) is one of the representative predatory flies that hunts a variety of insects during the larval and adult stages. There are more than 7,500 known species distributed around the world, and 74 species in 30 genera are recorded in Korea. There are about 270 species of the genus Leptogaster recorded worldwide, and three species (L. augusta, L. basilaris, L. dorsopicta) are recorded in Korea. Through this study, three unrecorded species (L. abdominalis, L. furculata, L. spadix) were identified, and a total of six species were confirmed to be distributed in Korea. We would like to provide general information of the genus Leptogaster, a list of currently distributed species in Korea, photos, diagnostic traits, and so on.
The choice of suitable companion plants is crucial for enhancing pest management strategies in agricultural fields. Riptortus pedestris, an important agricultural pest, has drawn attention for its serious damage on soybean. To identify an ideal companion plant for soybean, we investigated the pest’s behavioral patterns when exposed to corn seedlings in laboratory. Series of choice experiments were conducted for 4th instar nymphs and unmated female adults of R. pedestris when presented with corn and/or soybean pot against soybean or blank pot. In 4th instar nymphs, 56% preferred the treatment of corn pot plus soybean pot over soybean alone pot while 69% of unmated female adults preferred the same combination. These findings provide valuable insights into the behavior of this insect pest, which could be beneficial for establishing polycultures in agricultural fields.
Hydrogen energy is a promising source of renewable and clean energy for various industries, such as chemical, automobile, and energy industries. Electrolysis of water is one of the basic methods for the production of hydrogen energy. However, the high overpotential of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in water electrolysis has hindered the effective production of hydrogen using this method. Thus, the development of high-efficiency non-precious metal-based electrocatalysts for OER is extremely significant. In this study, we adopted a one-step hydrothermal method to fabricate Ni-based catalysts with N/Sdual doped graphene oxide/carbon nanotube (GO/CNT) supports using thiourea ( CH4N2S) and urea as the S source and the N source. It was observed that the amount of thiourea utilized in the synthesis of the catalyst affected the morphology, composition, and the electrochemical properties of the catalyst. For a GO/CNT-to-thiourea mass ratio of 1:10, the catalyst exhibited the highest activity, where the OER overpotential was 320 mV at a current density of 10 mA/cm2. This was attributed to the high specific surface area, high conductivity, and fast electron transport channels of the N/S-dual doped GO/ CNT composite. Furthermore, sulfurization of the Ni particles to form nickel sulfide played a significant role in enhancing the catalytic performance.
This study studied the characteristics of cultured oyster marketing in Sacheon Bay. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, the GULDAE aquaculture is a unique production method of Sacheon Bay. Second, oysters in Sacheon Bay were low in production, but the price was more than 70% higher than in other producing areas. Third, profit is 12.5% higher and rate of return was 179.8%. Fourth, there were more out-of-market sales than other than other producing areas, and it is a bidding method. Fifth, the marketing cost was higher than the longline hanging aquaculture; however, the advantage of price offseted this point. Although the Sacheon Bay Oyster aquaculture is small, it was confirmed that it was a producing area with high profitability and a unique marketing form from other regions. 2000년부터 시작된 6·25 전사자 유해발굴사업은 전쟁 기간 동안 수 습되지 못한 전사자 13만여 분을 찾아 국가와 가족의 품으로 모신다는 데 목적을 두고 추진 중이다. 2005년부터 국방부 유해발굴감식단(이하 국유단)을 출범하여 유전자 채취와 신원확인센터 설치 등 체계적 및 전문적으로 추진하고 있는 영구적인 국가정책 사업이다. 아울러 2018 년 4·27 판문점 선언과 9.19 남북군사합의에 의해서 오랜 숙원 사업으 로 제기됐던 비무장지역(DMZ) 내 유해발굴이 가능해졌다. 오랜 기간 접근하지 못했던 DMZ 내에서 남북유해발굴 공동합의는 접경지역과 한 반도에서의 군사적 긴장완화에 대한 남북한의 의지를 잘 반영한 것이 다. 기대했던 북한의 약속 이행은 없었지만 국방부는 2019년 4월 1일 부터 2021년 6월 24일까지 약 2년 반 동안 “9·19 남북군사합의”에 명 시된 남북공동유해발굴의 사전준비 차원에서 화살머리고지 일대 남쪽 지역에서 유해발굴을 꾸준히 진행했다. 특히 DMZ 내 화살머리고지 유 해발굴을 통해 9명의 국군전사자의 신원을 확인하여 유해봉환 및 안장 식을 거행했다. 이런 맥락에서 이 논문은 6·25 전사자 유해발굴사업의 의미와 중요성, 체계 수립을 위해서 “활동이론”(Activity theory)을 근 간으로 세부적으로 분석했다. 이를 기반으로 이 논문에서는 한반도의 지속 가능한 평화와 유지와 인도주의 차원에서의 최초의 DMZ 내 남북 공동유해발굴사업의 추진 배경과 성과, 그리고 의의를 중심으로 유해발 굴사업의 중요성과 함의에 대해 고찰했다.
Korean tuna purse seine fishery in the Western and Central Pacific Ocean (WCPO) began to operate in earnest in the early 1980s. Since then, the total catch has shown an increasing trend and the target species are skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacare) and bigeye tuna (Thunnus obesus). Based on the operational data of Korean tuna purse seine fishery from 2016 to 2020, the catch rates of target species (skipjack and yellowfin tunas) were analyzed by operation time for set types (free school and FAD sets). In the case of the free school sets, they were usually made from sunrise to sunset, and the catch rate was high before and after sunrise for skipjack tuna and before sunset for yellowfin tuna. On the other hand, for the FAD sets, more than 90% of them were made just before sunrise, and there were few operations during the daytime. The purpose of this study is to examine whether there are differences in the catch rate of skipjack and yellowfin tunas by operation time and by school type for Korean tuna purse seine fishery in the WCPO, which could be helpful in understanding its fishing characteristics and providing useful information for developing the stock indices of the target species.
Giant pacific octopus, Enteroctopus dofleini, is a large mollusk distributed in the East Sea of Korea. In this study, the catch status of giant pacific octopus by drift line fishery and the effect of sea temperature on fishing ground were investigated in Goseong-gun, Gangwon-do, which is the central coast of the East Sea. The average catch of giant pacific octopus in Gangwon-do was 1,570 tons over the past ten years, and it accounted for 21% in 2008 and 44% in 2021 compared to the total catch in the East Sea during the same period. Such data indicates that the catch in Gangwon-do has recently increased. In this study area, giant pacific octopus weighing 1.1-5.0 kg dominated accounting for 56% of the total individuals, and followed by those weighing 1 kg or less. However, the ratio of catch of giant pacific octopus over 5.1 kg tended to increase in 2021, which is thought to be related to the sea temperature that affected the fishing ground. The main depth of fishing ground was from 21 m to 50 m in this area and fishing grounds were widely distributed throughout the season except summer. Fishing ground was formed with the conditions of bottom sea temperature under 10℃ and was diminished by moving of giant pacific octopus to deeper depth with conditions of bottom sea temperature over 18℃.
Sea anchor for fishery is commonly used in jigging fishery and purse seine. The study of sea anchor was studied for improvement of opening efficiency and drag by changing the type of shape and the diameter of vent. However, standard specification of sea anchor is not set and has not been studied for underwater stability. Therefore, this study aimed to improve underwater stability of sea anchor by changing a vent diameter and weight of sinker. The experiment was conducted in flume water tank. The experiment model of sea anchor was made from actual model of sea anchor which is used in fishery by similarity law. The model of sea anchor was designed to different types of vent diameter and weight of sinker in different current speed. The value of movement of side to side (X-axis), drag of sea anchor (Y-axis) and movement of up and down (Z-axis) was measured for 30 seconds. Each value of X, Y, Z-axis was analyzed through t-test and ANOVA analysis to verify that each value had a significant difference according to the difference compositions. There was correlation between the movement of X-axis and Z-axis. The drag of sea anchor was stronger as the current speed increased. However, the larger the vent diameter, the weaker the drag. From the result of the standard deviation, the movement of X-axis was inversely proportional to the vent diameter. However, movement of Z-axis was larger as the weight of sinker was the heaviest or lightest from the result of the standard deviation. These results suggest that the sea anchor should be combined with proper size of the vent diameter and the weight of sinker to improve the stability.
Efforts to prevent IUU fishing began in 1996 as the IUU Antarctic Marine Living Resources Conservation Committee reported the multilateral efforts of the international community and related international organizations to prevent IUU fishing. Korea has recently been pointed out by the international community as to many problems regarding its will to eradicate IUU fishing. It is true that Korea has ever been designated as an ‘IUU participating country’ or a ‘non-cooperative third country’ by the international community and that there have been considerable difficulties in exporting seafood and using ports along with the deterioration of the national image. In 2020, with the efforts of related organizations and fisheries companies, Korea is now free from being known as a that Korea has recovered some degrees of trust from the international community through strengthening legal sanctions against IUU fishing and thorough implementation of follow-up measures is now free from non-cooperating country it cannot be said that the basic problems have been completely resolved just because it has emerged as a disgraceful country, and the current state of IUU fishing of Korea leaves a room for designation as a ‘non-cooperative third country’ again at any time in the future. Accordingly, there is an urgent need to examine the problems of the IUU fishing-related legal system in Korea and to come up with an improvement plan. Therefore, this paper reviews international norms for IUU fishing regulation (PSMA etc.) and domestic laws with the Distant Water Fisheries Development Act and Propose the improvement methods for related legal systems in Korea.
