The purpose of this study is to estimate the production function of the oliver flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) aquaculture industry, analyze its efficiency, and provide implications for sustainable aquaculture. For this purpose, the SFA model was utilized. The results of this study are as follows. First, the coefficient values of labor wages and farm area are higher than other inputs. This suggests that the Korean oliver flounder aquaculture industry is labor-intensive. Second, disease management is highly influenced by management efficiency. The more frequently farms are disinfected and culled, the higher the management efficiency with culling having a greater impact on management efficiency. Finally, the cost inputs of high and low-efficiency fish farms were analyzed, and it is recommended that wages, electricity, drugs, and oxygen should be kept at a reasonable level rather than excessive. However, the higher the inputs for mortality removal and disease management, the higher the management efficiency. In other words, improving the farm environment is the most important to achieve sustainability and management efficiency of Korean oliver flounder farming.
This study focuses on the effectiveness of regional business support programs funded by South Korea's Balanced National Development Special Account, one of the policies designed to address regional imbalances and promote local autonomy. Using the analytical approach including DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) methodology, This study analyzed the efficiency of 76 star companies in the Jeonbuk region based on their performance from 2018 to 2023. This study was designed to improve previous studies limitations, which only analyzed simple input-output efficiency in the short term, by using six years of mid-term data to comprehensively evaluate input variables in both R&D and Non-R&D sectors. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of the expiring Star Company Development Program by evaluating efficiency of supported company groups using DEA and to propose support models and policy suggestions for upcoming regional specialized industries support program by identifying the features of both optimal and inefficiency models. For this, employments along with financial indicators such as sales revenue, operating profit, and total assets were set as output variables, with R&D and non-R&D support amounts were set as input variables for analysis. According to the results, the optimal efficiency model group has strong intellectual property acquisition capabilities, and continuous R&D investment. It shows that continuous innovation activities are a key factor for improving the effectiveness of support. This study found that, from a mid․long term perspective, policy support programs should be customized by unique characteristics of each industry field, Based on this, it was suggested that upcoming regional specialized industry support programs in the Jeonbuk region should include policy planning and support program design to complement the weaknesses of each industry field.
본 연구는 중국의 사천성과 중경시의 공항을 대상으로 공항의 이용효율성을 분석 하고 있다. 본 연구의 투입변수는 터미널 면적, 게이트 수 그리고 개통 노선 수를 이 용하였다. 그리고 산출변수는 여객운송량, 화물운송량 그리고 운항 횟수를 이용하였 다. 분석방법은 Malmquist지수를 이용하고 분석대상은 자료의 일치성을 고려하여 사 천성과 중경시의 14개 공항을 설정하였다. 분석기간은 코로나19 기간을 포함하여 20 13-2022년으로 설정하였다. 분석결과는 아래 세 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째는 2013 -2022년 분석기간 중 사천성과 중경시의 14개 공항의 이용효율성은 전반적으로 악화되고 있다. 둘째는 여객중심의 공항의 이용효율성이 화물중심 보다는 상대적으로 높 게 나타나고 있다. 셋째는 분석대상 공항들을 등급별로 구분하면 4F급 공항의 이용 효율성이 4D급이나 4C급 보다 상대적으로 낮게 나타나고 있다. 4F급 공항은 인프라 적인 측면에서 4D급이나 4C급 보다 상대적으로 양호한 조건을 가지고 있다. 그러나 공항의 이용효율성 분석결과에 의하면 상대적으로 낮은 효율성을 가진다. 따라서 4F 급 공항의 이용효율성의 개선은 향후 과제이기도 하다.
최근 노인 인구가 증가함에 따라, 이들의 삶의 질에 대한 사회적 관심도가 높아지고 있으며, 노인들의 건강하고 활기찬 노후를 고려하는 활동적 노후 및 고령친화도시의 개념이 주목받고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 많은 지자체는 노인들이 지역 사회에서 여생을 의미 있게 보낼 수 있도록 다양한 노인여가복지 서비스를 제공하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 그러나 실질적인 노인 수요에 부합하는 서비스 공급이 이루어지지 못하고 있으며, 지역별로 노인여가복지 서비스의 공간적 격차가 발생하고 있는 실정이다. 이는 노인여가복지 입지와 관련하여 체계적인 법적 기준이 부재하기 때문이다. 이에 본 연구는 서울시의 노인여가복지 시설에 대한 수요와 공급의 공간적 불일치성을 탐색하고, 공간 효율성과 형평성을 고려한 노인복지센터의 최적 입지 대안을 제시하고 있다. 연구 결과, 여러 입지 시나리오에 따라 서울시 노인복지센터의 공간적 접근성을 향상시킬 수 있는 다양한 최적 입지 대안들을 제시할 수 있었으며, 향후 노인복지 서비스 공급과 관련한 계획 및 정책에 있어 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다
The spectrum of this study was research on the closed hydroponic cultivation of netted melons (Cucumis melo L.) using coir substrate, analyzing the impact of this cultivation method on melon yield, fruit quality, and the efficiency of water and nutrient usage. The experimental results showed that the average fruit weight of the melons grown in a closed system was 71.4 g higher than that of the open system, and the fruit width was on average 0.2 cm larger, showing a statistically significant difference. However, there was no difference in the average sugar content of the fruit flesh and height. Although there is no substantial commercial difference, it is conjectured that the change in the macronutrients ratio in the irrigation has played a role in the statistically significant increase in fruit weight, which is attributed to changes in the crops' nutrient uptake concentrations. This necessitates further research for a more comprehensive understanding. In terms of the productivity of irrigation required to produce the fruit, applying the closed system resulted in an increase of 7.6 kg/ton compared to the open system, saving 31.6% of water resources. Additionally, in terms of nutrients, cultivating in a closed system allowed for savings of approximately 59, 25, 55, 83, 76, and 87% of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and S, respectively, throughout the entire cultivation period. As the drainage was reused, the ratios of NO3 - and Ca2+ increased up to a maximum of 9.6 and 9.1%, respectively, while the ratios of other ions gradually decreased. In summary, these results suggest that closed hydroponic cultivation can effectively optimize the use of water and fertilizer while maintaining excellent fruit quality in melon cultivation.
PURPOSES : This study aims to analyze the efficiency of the safety and management of private highways.
METHODS : Variables were selected based on the data and performance related to the safety of 18 private highways. The appropriateness of operations management was reviewed using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) analysis. Items with a scope for improvement were reviewed and adjustment measures were presented.
RESULTS : To increase safety management efficiency, the degree of reduction in personnel and operating expenses was presented based on the relative efficiency group.
CONCLUSIONS : It is necessary to adjust the appropriate management organization and operating costs according to the characteristics of each route. Moreover, the limitations of the study and possible improvements were presented.
It is highly challenging to measure the efficiency of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) because factors affecting operational characteristics of EVCSs are time-varying in practice. For the efficiency measurement, environmental factors around the EVCSs can be considered because such factors affect charging behaviors of electric vehicle drivers, resulting in variations of accessibility and attractiveness for the EVCSs. Considering dynamics of the factors, this paper examines the technical efficiency of 622 electric vehicle charging stations in Seoul using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The DEA is formulated as a multi-period output-oriented constant return to scale model. Five inputs including floating population, number of nearby EVCSs, average distance of nearby EVCSs, traffic volume and traffic congestion are considered and the charging frequency of EVCSs is used as the output. The result of efficiency measurement shows that not many EVCSs has most of charging demand at certain periods of time, while the others are facing with anemic charging demand. Tobit regression analyses show that the traffic congestion negatively affects the efficiency of EVCSs, while the traffic volume and the number of nearby EVCSs are positive factors improving the efficiency around EVCSs. We draw some notable characteristics of efficient EVCSs by comparing means of the inputs related to the groups classified by K-means clustering algorithm. This analysis presents that efficient EVCSs can be generally characterized with the high number of nearby EVCSs and low level of the traffic congestion.
Evaluating the operational efficiency of electric vehicle charging stations (EVCSs) is important to understand charging network evolution and the charging behavior of electric vehicle users. However, aggregation of efficiency performance metrics poses a significant challenge to practitioners and researchers. In general, the operational efficiency of EVCSs can be measured as a complicated function of various factors with multiple criteria. Such a complex aspect of managing EVCSs becomes one of the challenging issues to measure their operational efficiency. Considering the difficulty in the efficiency measurement, this paper suggests a way to measure the operational efficiency of EVCSs based on data envelopment analysis (DEA). The DEA model is formulated as constant returns of output-oriented model with five types of inputs, four of them are the numbers of floating population and nearby charging stations, distance of nearby charging stations and traffic volume as desirable inputs and the other is the traffic speed in congestion as undesirable one. Meanwhile, the output is given by the charging frequency of EVCSs in a day. Using real-world data obtained from reliable sources, we suggest operational efficiencies of EVCSs in Seoul and discuss implications on the development of electric vehicle charging network. The result of efficiency measurement shows that most of EVCSs in Seoul are inefficient, while some districts (Nowon-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Dongjak-gu, Songpa-gu, Guro-gu) have relatively more efficient EVCSs than the others.
The production of abalone seed has grown and been specialized since the 2000s with the growth of the abalone farming industry. Despite the increase in the production of abalone seeds, the sales volume of abalone seeds remained flat and competition among producers increased. This paper will analyze the management efficiency of abalone seed production fishery to diagnose the management status and improve the abalone seed production efficiency. In addition, this study is the result of the basic research on the abalone seed industry and it is meaningful to prepare a platform for further research since the management status survey and the management efficiency survey of abalone seed production fishery have not been conducted until now. The data on the farmed fish prices of abalone seeds were collected from surveys of sample fish as part of the fish seed observation project conducted by the Fisheries Outlook Center (FOC) of Korea Maritime and Fisheries Development Institute (KMI). Management efficiency analysis utilizes DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model. The DEA model was analyzed by classifying into CCR (Super-CCR), BCC, and SBM (Super-SBM) models according to the assumptions taking into account the characteristics of the industry. The slack considered in the SBM model was judged as possible decreases in input variables and increase in output variables. The average efficiency from the CCR model was analyzed to be 69%. The BCC model was classified into input and output orientations, and the average efficiency was 79% and 75%, respectively. There were seven production fisheries with an SE value of 1 or more, which remained unchanged in terms of size and could be benchmarked. The average efficiency of the SBM model was 59% for CRS and 66% for VRS. Under the VRS assumptions, the variable increase/decrease efficiency analysis shows that labor costs can be reduced by 37.3%, facility capacity by 18.8%, and operating costs by 8.5%. In order to improve management efficiency, Wando needs to reduce labor and management costs. In Jindo region, sales increase as well as labor cost reduction is urgent. In other regions, reduced facilities and increased sales are recommended.
농업은 고용, 식량 및 생계를 목적으로 하는 카메룬 경제의 중심이다. 그러나 카메룬 농업은 낮은 생산성, 비효율성 및 수입에 의존하여 전염병에 시달리고 있다. 이러한 이유로 본 연구는 카메룬 북서부 지역의 쌀 농가의 기술적 효율성을 조사했다. 구조화된 설문지와 인터뷰를 사용하여 144명의 농부로부터 데이터를 수집했다. 기술 통계 및 확률적 프런티어 분석을 사용하여 데이터를 분석하였다. 확률적 프런티어 분석의 결과는 분산 매개 변수 (시그마 제곱 및 감마)가 통계적으로 유의하다는 것을 보여준다. 농장 규모, 비료, 노동 및 제초제의 계수는 긍정적이고 중요했다. 평균 기술 효율성 수준이 84%로 나타낸 것은 가용 자원을 효율적으로 활용한다면 쌀 농민의 기술 효율성을 16%로 증가할 수 있다. 비효율성 모델은 신용 액세스가 기술적 비효율 성과 부정적인 관련이 있는 중요한 요소임을 보여준다. 이 결과는 농민에게 생산성을 향상시키기 위해 신용을 제공하려는 정부의 노력 (SEMRY, UNVDA, ARFIC및 2세대 농업)과 일치한다.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the efficiencies of project management offices in large information system construction projects using the data envelopment analysis. In addition, we tried to estimate the confidence interval of those efficiencies using bootstrap DEA to give a statistical meaning. The efficiency by the CCR model is analyzed as eight project management offices are fully efficient and 22 project management offices are inefficient. On the other hand, there are 15 project management offices are fully efficient, but 15 project management offices are inefficient in the BCC model. As the result of the scale efficiencies, of the inefficient project management offices, 13 project management offices are inefficient in scale. It is possible to eliminate the inefficiency in the CCR model by improving their project performances. And, the nine project management offices showed that the inefficiency was due to pure technical efficiency, and these companies should look for various improvements such as improvement of project execution system and project management process. In order that the inefficient project management offices be efficient, it is analyzed that more efforts must be made for on-budget and on-time as a result of examining the potential improvement potentials of inefficient project management offices.
PURPOSES: This study evaluates the efficiency of snow removal operation resources using data envelopment analysis (DEA). The results of this study can help decision-making strategies, especially for resource allocation for snow removal works on national highways. METHODS: First, regional road management offices (DMUs) for efficiency evaluation were set up, and a database (for years 2012-2016) for analysis was formed. Second, DEA was carried out by selecting input and output variables based on the constructed database. Lastly, based on the results of the DEA, the efficiency of each regional road management office was evaluated. In addition, the potential for future improvement was determined. RESULTS: The results showed that there was a large variation in efficiency of snow removal operation resources by regional offices. CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study imply that the evaluation of efficiency for snow removal operation resources is important when decisions related to snow-removal strategies are made by road management offices.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the efficiency of distant-water longline fishing vessels in the Pacific Ocean and the gap in efficiencies among individual vessels. In order to estimate the efficiency, the dependent variable is set as an amount of catch and independent variables include number of crew, number of hooks, number of vessel size, and vessels engine power associated with fishing activities of distant water longline fisheries. Analytical result was shown as follows: first, the average efficiency of distant-water longline fishing vessels in the Pacific Ocean was found to be 94%. Second, the number of hooks were found to be statistically significant in each input variable and the appropriate control of the number of hooks would be expected to have a positive effect on the efficiency. Third, the relationship between the age of a vessel and the efficiency was not found statistically.
We studied the efficiency of service quality of loan consultants contracted to a bank in Korea. Since the consultant is not an employee of the bank, he/she is paid solely in proportion to how much he/she sell loans. In this study, a consultant is considered as a decision making unit (DMU) in the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) model. We use a principal component analysis-data envelopment analysis (PCADEA) model to evaluate quality efficiency of the consultants. In the first stage, we use PCA to obtain 6 synthetic indicators, including 4 input indicators and 2 output indicators, from survey results in which questionnaire items are constructed on the basis of SERVQUAL model. In the second stage, 3 DEA models allowing negative values are used to calculate the relative efficiency of each DMU. An example illustrates the proposed process of evaluating the relative quality efficiency of the loan consultants.
Loan consultants assist clients with loan application processing and loan decisions. Their duties may include contacting people to ask if they want a loan, meeting with loan applicants and explaining different loan options. An example illustrates the proposed process of evaluating the relative quality efficiency of the loan consultants and how to use the efficiency to improve the service quality of the consultants.
본 연구는 3개의 투입변수와 3개의 산출변수로 구성된 DEA법을 이용하여 우리나라 항만의 노무효율성을 측정 평가하였다. 대상항만의 전체 기술적 효율성은 평균 94.18% 수준이었으며, 순수 기술적 효율성은 100%로 나타났고 규모의 효율성은 94.18%로 전체 기술적 비효율성이 가장 높게 나타났다. 분석결과 7개의 항만은 효율적인 항만으로 측정되었고 4개의 항만은 비효율적 항만으로 측정되었다. 4개의 비효율적 항만중 규모에 대한 수익체증은 동해항으로 나타났다. 그러나 비효율적인 항만들은 생산규모의 비효율성보다 자원운영의 비효율성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 한편 초효율법을 이용하여 효율적인 항만의 우선순위를 분석한 결과 인천항, 목포항, 평택당진항, 마산항, 여수광양항, 제주항, 군산대산항 순으로 효율성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 비효율적인 부산항은 목포항 및 인천항을 벤치마킹하여 항만 물동량의 증대, 장비의 현대화 및 노무효율성의 향상을 위해 전면적인 노무상용화가 필요하다.
PURPOSES: The goal of this study is to analyze the operational efficiencies of special roundabouts using simulated programs. METHODS: This study primarily focuses on comparing the delays and traffic flow disturbances occurring at special roundabouts. In this study, the operational efficiencies of 450 scenarios (5 roundabout types × traffic volumes × directional ratios × measures) are analyzed according to the corresponding delays and traffic flow disturbances using VISSIM and SSAM. RESULTS : The main results are as follows: 1) the Hamburger roundabouts are determined to yield the least common-type delays, 2) the amount of delays at Turbo and Flower roundabouts with respect to relatively increased right-turn-type delays, in addition to the amount of delays at the Left-turn slip-lane roundabout with respect to relatively increased left-turn-type delays, are found to be reduced as compared to the common-type delays. Lastly, common- and increased right-turn-type traffic flow disturbances at the Turbo roundabout and increased left-turntype traffic flow disturbances at the Left-turn slip-lane roundabout are determined to be the most infrequent. CONCLUSIONS: This study comparatively analyzes five roundabout types: standard, Flower, Turbo, Hamburger, and Left-turn slip-lane. The effectiveness of roundabouts can increase according to given traffic volume, directional ratio, and measure of effectiveness.
