        39 accessions of sickle alfalfa (Medicago falcata L.) collected from different regions of China were evaluated for their tolerance to drought. Differences were observed among accessions in their reactions to drought and 8 good tolerant accessions at populations level and 18 excellent tolerant accessions at individual level were identified based on drought response index (DRI).

        Seedling drought resistance of three alfalfa cultivars-Medicago sativa L. cv. Aohan, Medicago sativa L. cv. Zhaodong and Medicago sativa L. cv. Tumu No.2 were studied and evaluated. The permeability of plasma membrane, the free proline content and the peroxidase (POD) activity of three alfalfa cultivars were tested at 24h after treating with 20% polyethylene glycol (PEG-6000). The results indicated t㏊t the drought resistance ability of all these varieties was in the order of Medicago sativa L. cv. Aohan, Medicago sativa L. cv. Zhaodong and Medicago sativa L. cv. Tumu No.2.

        균근을 이용한 Ardisia pusilla의 내건성 증진효과를 알아보기 위하여 내생균근 Glomus spp.을 접종하여 생육상에서 30일 동안 재배한 후 수분스트레스처리를 실시하였다. 수분스트레스처리는 5일간 무관수 상태로 두었다가 관수하는 방법으로 60일 동안 반복 처리하였다. 식물생육은 균근처리시 대조구에 비해 증가하였으며, 관수시 스분스트레스의 회복력도 빨랐다. 식물체내 양분함량은 지하부의 Fe, Mn, 및 Cu의 함량의 경우 균근 접종 식물이 대조구에 비해 현저하 높았으나 이에 반하여 프롤린 함량은 대조구에서 균근 접종식불에 비해 높게 나타났다.

        저온 또는 건조 처리에 따른 토마토 유묘의 생육과 부위별 항산화효소의 반응 양상을 분석한 결과, 토마토 유묘의 생체중은 처리 후 12일째에 대조구에 비해 각각 69.5% 와 50.6% 감소하였다. SOD와 POD의 활성은 대조구에 비해 저온 또는 건조 처리에서 높은 활성을 보였는데, 저온 처리시에는 뿌리에서 더 높은 활성을 보였고 건조 처리에서는 잎과 줄기에서 높은 활성을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 동위효소의 발현양상에서도 일치하였다. GR의 활성은 저온 또는 건조 처리시 대조구보다 높은 활성을 보였는데, 잎과 줄기에서는 저온과 건조 처리간의 차이는 없었지만, 뿌리에서는 건조 처리가 높은 경향을 보였다. GR 동위효소 발현양상은 저온과 건조처리시에는 GR-3 밴드가 잎에서는 발현되어 대조구와 차이가 있었지만, 줄기와 뿌리에서는 큰 차이가 없었다. PPO 활성은 잎에서는 모든 처리에서 차이가 없었지만, 줄기와 뿌리에서는 저온 또는 건조 처리에서 대조구보다 높은 경향을 보였다. 특히 줄기의 PPO 활성은 저온 처리보다 건조처리에서 높았고 뿌리의 PPO 활성은 건조 처리보다 저온 처리에서 높았다. 동위효소의 발현양상에서도 건조처리에서는 줄기에서, 저온 처리에서는 뿌리에서 높은 밀도를 보여 불량 환경에 따른 부위별 반응 차이를 잘 반영해 주었다.

        Meteorologists define a drought as a period of common dry weather. This may sound straightforward, but it is not so in reality. In this study, we attempted to identify meteorological drought conditions over South Korea. To evaluate the temporal and spatial variability of drought, we calculated two commonly used drought indices, the percent of normal precipitation (PNP) and the Palmer drought severity index (PDSI) calculated from fifty-eight meteorological stations below the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA). The yearly precipitation has been growing gradually, and the amplitude between maximum and minimum also grow more explicitly from 1960's. According to the analysis of percentile anomaly of monthly precipitation, major drought duration was 1927∼1929, 1937∼1939, 1942∼1944, 1967∼1968, 1976∼1977, 1982∼1983, 1988, and 1994∼1995. The severe drought occurred most frequently in Mokpo, Daegu, Jeonju, Busan, and Gangneung; it tended to occur more frequently in south sector than in mid sector of Korea and in south west sector than in south east sector. According to the analysis of seasonal distribution, extreme droughts occurred frequently in winter at Seoul, Gangneung, Jeonju, Daegu, and Busan. Severe droughts in summer were formed frequently at Seoul, Gangneung, and Mokpo, while that for spring at Jeonju, Daegu, and Busan. The results of PDSI distribution for the 1994∼1995 drought period were one of the most severe and widely spreaded droughts; it occurred most frequently in the south sector of South Korea. The comparison of time series between PDSI and Normal Percent showed that they exhibit a strong compatibility for the entire study period; it implies that both drought indices are useful method to indicate drought severity.

        The drought index has been developed, based on a 8.6μm surface emissivity in the 8-12μm MODIS channels over the African Sahel region (10-20 N, 13 W-35 W) and the Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA: 37.2-37.7 N, 126.6-127.2 E). The emissivity indicates the SiO2 strength and can vary interannually by vegetation, water vapor, and soil moisture, as a potential indicator of drought conditions. In a well-vegetated region close to 10 N of the Sahel, the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) showed high sensitivity, while the emissivity did not. On the other hand, the NDVI experienced negligible variability in a poorly vegetated region near 20 N, while the emissivity reflected sensitively the effects of atmospheric water vapor and soil moisture conditions. Seasonal variations of the emissivity (0.94-0.97) have been examined over the SMA during the 2003-2004 period compared to NDVI (or Enhanced Vegetation Index; EVI). Here, the dryness was more severe in urban area with less vegetation than in suburban area; the two areas corresponded to the north and south of the Han river, respectively. The emissivity exhibiting a significant spatial correlation of ∼0.8 with the two indices can supplement their information.

        본 실험은 염과 건조 스트레스를 받은 벼 식물체의 생리학적 반응을 잎의 수분 보유적인 측면에서 조사하여, 벼의 내성품종과 비내성품종을 효율적으로 선발하기 위한 critical level을 밝혀 내성품종 육성에 응용할 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하고자 수행한 시험결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. NaCl 및 PEG 처리에 의한 벼 식물체의 반응은 일차적으로 뿌리 신장의 억제가 NaCl 처리에 의해 관찰되었으나, PEG 처리에서는 벼 식물체의 뿌리가 PEG 처리 농도를 증가함에 따라 증가하는 경향이 보였다. 2. NaCl 및 PEG 처리에 의한 벼 식물체의 잎의 RWC와 LWP 사이의 상관관계를 조사한 결과, 40 mM NaCl ()와 80 mM NaCl 처리구 () 에서 RWC와 LWP사이에 높은 상관관계가 확인되었으나, PEG 처리에 의한 RWC와 LWP 사이에는 8% PEG 처리구()에서만 상관관계를 보였다. 3. RWC와 LWP사이에 높은 상관의 결과로부터 측정방법이 까다로운 LWP보다 간단하게 측정할 수 있는 RWC를 이용하여 염 및 건조 스트레스에 대한 내성 품종을 선발하는 것이 효율적이라 사료된다. 4. 염에 대한 벼 내성품종을 선발할 경우에는 80 mM NaCl을 처리한 후 48시간째에 선발하는 것이 적합하고, 한발에 대한 내성품종 선발에는 8% PEG를 처리한 후 96시간째에 선발을 하는 것이 효율적이라 사료된다.

        This research was carried out in a farm situated in Malkara District of Tekirdag Province (Turkey) in 1994-95, and the effect of genotype and environmental conditions on some characters and variations of these characters in terms of silage yield in 8 dent corn varieties were determined. The results of this research showed that leaf weight, stem diameter, and silage yield had a low broad sense heritability while the number of leaves per plant had a high heritability. Yield performance of varieties varied to a significant degree because of variations in rainfall rate during the growing periods. Leaf number, silage yield, leaf weight, stem diameter, plant height and ear weight varied between 13.33-17.33 number, 8,443-11,114 ton/hec, 152.8-244.2 g, 2,615-2,965 cm, 216.5-252.5 g and 176.2-285.8 g, respectively.

        고추의 16개(個) 도입계통(導入系統)에 대(對)해서 내건성(耐乾性)을 알기 위(爲)하여 발식(鉢植)한 고추를 단수처리(斷水處理)하고 일정기간후(一定期間後)에 엽(葉)의 WSD치(値)를 측정(測定)해서 내건성(耐乾性)을 평가(評價)하였으며 성숙엽(成熟葉)의 기공밀도(氣孔密度)를 조사(調査)하여 WSD치(値)와의 상관(相關)을 구(求)하였다.         In order to determine the design precipitation, the most probable daily precipitation and annual precipitation at every spot are calculated and iso - precipitation line are drawn. Probability of precipitation and drought phenomena of each gage station are analyzied by the method of frequency analysis from the statistical conceptions. The results summarized in this study are as the follows. 1. Annual mean precipitation in kyungpook area are 1044 mm, about 115 mm less than annual mean precipitation of Korea amounts to l1S9mm, and found to regionally unequal. 2. Monthly mean rainfall of July is 242.2mm, 23.2%, August 174.2mm, 16.7%, June 115mm, 11% and September 114.2mm, 10.9% and Rainfall depth of July-August are more than 40% of annual precipition. This shows notable summer rainy weather by typoon and low pressure storm and seasonal unbalance of water supply. 3. The relation among the maximum precipi.tation per day, per two continuous days and per three contnous days are caculated and the latter is found 31.0% increased rate of the first and the last 48.2% increased rate of first. 4. Probability precipitation in Kyungpook area are shown as 9.0%(5 year), 13.3%(10 year), 17.7%(20 year), 23.1%(50 year), 27.0%(100 year) and 31.1%(200 year) increased rate of each recurrence year compared with observed average annual precipitation. 5. From annual precipitation and maximum daily rainfall data probability of precipitation and precipitation isohyetal line are derived which shown as Table 11 and Fig. 8. 6. Drought days are divided 6 class and analysed results are shown on table 12. Average occurrence time of 10-14 continuous drought days are 2.3 time per year, 15-19 days are 0.9 time per year, 20-24 days are one per six years, 30-34 days are once per nine years and over than 35days are once per 25 years.

        In this study, the capacity of supplying agricultural water to 13 districts was analyzed by calculating the necessary water supply for the arable land of Gunwi-gun and examining the capacity of supplying water to reservoirs, streams, pumping stations, collection sites, and groundwater wells in Gunwi-gun. As a result, among the 13 districts the second district was found to be short of water by 1.2×106 tons/year. In general, local governments establish drought measures by selecting drought disaster risk zones. While selecting drought-risk areas, some water-poor areas that do not have water sources should be selected, even if the entire area has a sufficient water supply. The water-supply evaluation at the regional level was insufficient for locating areas without water sources, but most areas with water sources, such as streams, reservoirs, and pumping stations, were found to have no shortage of water. To locate water shortage areas without water sources, GIS analysis conducted a field survey of areas with a distance of 4 or less than that of water sources analyzed by GIS analysis. Sixty-nine sites in 13 districts were selected for the on-site survey and six areas of water shortage were identified in areas other than the second district.

        Drought stress is one of major environmental stresses in plants; this leads to reduce plant growth and crop yield. In this study, we selected fungal isolate for mitigating drought stress in pepper plants. To do this, 41 fungi were isolated from rhizosphere or bulk soils of various plants in Jeju, Gangneung, Hampyeong in Korea. Out of 41 isolates, we screened two isolates without phytotoxicity through seed germination of tomato, pepper, and cabbage treated with fungal spores; through following plant assay, we selected GL02 as a candidate for alleviating drought stress in pepper plants. As a result of greenhouse test of pepper plants in drought condition, the stomatal conductance on leaves of pepper plants treated with GL02 was increased, whereras the malondialdehyde (MDA) and electrolyte leakage were decreased compared to that in control plants. When stressed plants were rewatered, stomatal conductance of the plants treated with GL02 was increased; the electrolyte leakage was decreased. Based on internal transcribed spacer (ITS) sequencing analysis, isolate GL02 was belonging to genus Trichoderma. Taken together, drought stress in pepper plants treated with GL02 was alleviated, when it was rewatered after drought-stressed, the plants could be recovered effectively. Therefore, Trichoderma sp. GL02 could be used as a bio-fertilizer to alleviate drought stress in pepper plants.

        In this study, standard precipitation index- based analysis associated with run theory was performed using 53 years’ (1967– 2019) precipitation data to investigate the meteorological drought in Chuncheon. The duration of the meteorological drought in Chuncheon was 8.06 months, magnitude of the drought was -8.21, and average drought depth was -1.08. The drought in May 2014 lasted 21 months until January 2016; the drought scale and average depth was -34.06 and -1.62, respectively. This was the most severe drought in Chuncheon. As a result of drought frequency analysis, the drought scale of May to December in 2014 was estimated to be -16.16, and the return period was estimated to be 300 years. These results are expected to further increase the magnitude and frequency of weather droughts caused by climate change. Therefore, it is critical to prepare appropriate structural measures.

        Using the standard precipitation index (SPI), this study analyzed the drought characteristics of ten weather stations in Gyeongbuk, South Korea, that precipitation data over a period of 30 years. For the number of months that had a SPI of 1.0 or less, the drought occurrence index was calculated and a maximum shortage months, resilience and vulnerability in each weather station were analyzed. According to the analysis, in terms of vulnerability, the weather stations with acute short-term drought were Andong, Bonghwa, Moongyeong, and Gumi. The weather stations with acute medium-term drought were Daegu and Uljin. Finally the weather stations with acute long-term drought were Pohang, Youngdeok, and Youngju. In terms of severe drought frequency, the stations with relatively high frequency of mid-term droughts were Andong, Bonghwa, Daegu, Uiseong, Uljin, and Youngju. Gumi station had high frequency of short-term droughts. Pohang station had severe short-term ad long-term droughts. Youngdeok had severe droughts during all the terms. Based on the analysis results, it is inferred that the size of the drought should be evaluated depending on how serious vulnerability, resilience, and drought index are. Through proper evaluation of drought, it is possible to take systematic measures for the duration of the drought.

        가뭄재해는 다른 재해와 다르게 광범위한 공간에 걸쳐서 충분한 강우가 발생하기 전까지 오랜 기간 동안 발생되는 특성이 있다. 위성 영상은 시공간적으로 지속적인 강수량 관측을 제공할 수 있다. 본 연구는 위성 영상 기반의 강수자료를 활용하여 기상학적 가뭄 전망 모형을 개발하였다. PERSIANN_CDR, TRMM 3B42와 GPM IMERG 영상을 활용하여 강수 자료를 구축한 뒤, 표준강수지수(SPI)를 기반으로 기상학적 가뭄을 정의 하였다. 과거의 가뭄 정보와 물리적 예측 모형 기반의 가뭄 예측 결과를 결합할 수 있는 베이지안 네트워크 기반 가뭄 예측 기법을 이용하여 확률론적 가뭄 예측 결과를 생산하였으며, 가뭄 예측결과를 가뭄 전망 의사결정 모형에 적용하여 가뭄 전망 결과를 도출하였다. 가뭄 전망 정보는 가뭄 발생, 지속, 종결, 가뭄 없음의 4단계로 구분하였다. 본 연구의 가뭄 전망 결과는 ROC 분석을 통하여 물리적 예측 모형인 다중모형 앙상블(MME)을 활용한 가뭄 전망 결과와 전망 성능을 비교하였다. 그 결과, 2∼3개월 가뭄 전망에 대한 가뭄 발생 및 지속의 단계에서는 MME 모형보다 높은 전망 성능을 보여주었다.
