In this study, the fatigue properties of press die steel, such as SKD11, and three high-durability die steel for the cold forming of ultra-high-strength steel sheets are evaluated. Specimens for fatigue, tensile, and hardness tests are manufactured through the heat treatment recommended by steelmakers and ultra-high precision processing. The general mechanical properties and fatigue properties are derived from hardness, tensile, and fatigue tests for four die steel. The tensile and fatigue properties of die steel derived through the tests are compared and analyzed. In particular, the correlation between the fatigue limit and the general mechanical properties such as tensile strength and elongation is analyzed, which allows relational expressions to be obtained through regression analysis. Finally, the study confirms that applying high-durability die steel is necessary for improving the die life in the manufacturing of press dies for ultra-high-strength steel sheets.

CFRP hardened by carbon fiber and resin has the property of high strength and low weight. Specifically, the strong feature against the external vibration environment is shown as CFRP is designed with the structure of multi-axes. So, CFRP in place of metal has been used at the various fields. CFRP specimens for mode Ⅱ are applied with the repetitive fatigue load in this study. These specimens have the fiber layer angles of 30°, 45° and 60°. The material properties of specimens are investigated with the result of fatigue fracture due to this load. As the study result, the smallest and largest reaction forces of 500 N and 540 N are shown at the layer angle of 30° and 60° respectively among these specimens. The separation of adhesive interface at 4000 fatigue cycles is happened earliest in case of the layer angle of 60°. But the separation of adhesive interface at 11000 fatigue cycles is happened latest in case of the layer angle of 45°. Through the result of fatigue property, it is thought that the basis data can be applied to evaluate the safety at CFRP structure applied with fatigue.

As CFRP as the single material has various material properties, it has been used at many fields. CFRP is utilized at the mechanical structure on the basis of the brittle fracture property and the performance of vibration damping. CFRP composed of multiple axes has the high natural frequency. It is shown to have more reinforced material property with the fiber design. This paper investigates the fatigue property of the bonded specimen for mode 1 at the laminate angles of 30°, 45° and 60°. According to the fiber design, each specimen bonded with the laminate angle is shown to have different fatigue property repectively. As the laminate angle is increased, the reaction force tends to be increased. In this paper, the laminate angle through the fiber design of CFRP is applied and the fatigue property at mode 1 is investigated. Through the study result, The safety of fatigue fracture is also checked at applying to the composite structure.

In this study, the specimen of tapered double cantilever beam(TDCB) with aluminum foam is designed and shearing fatigue strength is based on the investigation of static behaviour analysis under the condition of mode Ⅱ. These specimen models have length and width of 200 mm and 25 mm. The inclined angles of adhesive face at the specimens are 6°, 8 °and 10°. As the inclined angle becomes higher, the time for which the model can not be broken during fatigue load becomes longer. The shearing strength of TDCB bonded structure with aluminum foam applied by shearing fatigue load can be evaluated through finite element method.

A developed molybdenum hybrid-alloyed steel powder is based on a molybdenum prealloyed steel powder to which molybdenum powder particles are diffusion bonded. The sintered compact made of this powder has a finer pore structure than that of the conventional molybdenum prealloyed steel powder, because the ferritic iron phase with a high diffusion coefficient is formed in the sintering necks where molybdenum is concentrated resulting in enhanced sintering. The rolling contact fatigue strength of the sintered and carburized compacts made of this powder improved by a factor of 3.6 compared with that of the conventional powder due to the fine pore structures.

The effect of tempering temperature on the three point bending fatigue behavior of a P/M high speed steel JYPS-23 (1.28% C, 4.20% Cr, 6.40% W, 5.00% Mo, 3.10% V, bal. Fe) was investigated. The number of cycles to failure of the specimen austenitized at drastically increased with increasing tempering temperature. As tempering temperature increased from 500 to , the volume fraction and average size of carbides (MC or M6C) did not significantly changed, while hardness decreased drastically. The reduced hardness is due to the softening of matrix, which increased the resistance of the fatigue crack propagation. For a practical application, powder compacting test were also conducted with the P/M high speed steel punches tempered at 500, 580, and . The number of compacting cycles to failure of the punches also increased with increasing tempering temperature.
