“Action-oriented Approach (AA)” as a new teaching method has taken an important role in teaching and learning of French Education during past 10 years. However, even though the new teaching method is very welcome for educators, now it is the time that we have to consider whether the key principle and fundamental notion of this approach is suitable for our language education environments and is theoretically appropriate for education. For that, it is necessary that we have to carefully examine this “Action-oriented Approach” from two points of views. First of all, from the angle of foreign language education, we need to verify whether this new approach could be appropriately applied in teaching and learning of Korean foreign language education or not. Secondly, from a societal perspective, we need to examine how this method, considering language education as everyday life itself, can handle some critical perspectives in the point of “status in quo” of “AA”. It has been criticized that language education as everyday life itself can make learners in everyday life to unconsciously acquire maintaining the ‘status quo’ during actions such as “educational inequality”. It is expected that this kind of examination will suggest us an improved way of “AA” for more effective and appropriate practice of French Education, and will give us an opportunity to think about the better way of teaching and learning model by “AA” in Korea.
Le nouveau programme d'enseignement du français de 2015 encourage le développement de la créativité et du caractère des apprenants. Le but de cette étude est d'explorer les moyens de développer la créativité et le caractère des lycéens qui apprennent la langue française comme deuxième langue étrangère en Corée. Nous avons d'abord examiné la situation actuelle et quelques problèmes de l'enseignement du français qui entravent le développement de la créativité et du caractère. Cette analyse nous amène donc à exploiter le travail en petit groupe et l'apprentissage par les tâches. Ensuite, nous avons examiné la notion de tâche actionnelle qui remplace celle de tâche communicative. La tâche actionnelle fournit un contexte, une raison « sociale » pour acquérir une langue. Elle est une série d'activités complexes et authentiques qui aboutit à un produit final, destiné à être présenté oralement et/ou par écrit, et donc adressée à un public réel. Enfin, nous avons proposé une tâche actionnelle sur le thème du logement. L'enseignement du français par les tâches actionnelles permet aux apprenants de développer une pensée créative et la diversité avec plus d'occasion de s'exprimer. Et ils peuvent aussi avoir des responsabilités et de la considération pour les autres en interagissant les uns des autres afin d'atteindre l'objectif commun du groupe.
Foreign language education has so far put emphasis on the so-called communicative and cultural objective where learners communicate with native speakers in the foreign languages they have learned and then understand and execute the native speakers’ cultures. However, the modern society, which has rapidly become a global village with the development of the means of communication, expects foreign language education to play a new role. This new role is taking into account not only the practical aspect of the communication, but also the educational goal of cultivating the ability to properly understand others’ culture and hold a critical attitude toward one’s own culture. The intercultural approach is emerging as a new approach that enables foreign language education to achieve this goal. 2007 Amended Curriculum and 2009 Amended Curriculum used the term, “intercultural”, but did not specifically state it, and thus it was little reflected in the textbooks. As a method of practically resolving this problem, we made an intercultural teaching plan by utilizing the cultural contents in the current textbooks.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the theoretical backgroud of a phraseo-didactics in French as Foreign Language and to present concrete ways to develop it in an effective way. The teaching methodology for french phraseolgy is very critical to improve one’s communicative competence among Korean learners. In this regard, this article raised the following 4 issues: 1) To distinguish the type of french phraseology. 2) To examine the status of phraseology in Common European Framework of Reference. 3) To investigate components of phraseology which are divided into three parts: sociocultural component, linguistic component, pragmatic component. 4) To set up some issues for the teaching of french phraseology in Korean context. For an effective teaching, this paper need to more carefully consider the teaching lists, rages, time and various methods of french phraseological expressions.
본 논문은 2014년 3월 <한국컴퓨터게임논문지>(제27권, 제1호)에 실린 "디지털 영상매체와 게임 콘텐츠를 활용한 상호문화교육 교수-학습 프로그램 개발의 필요성에 대한 이론적 검토"의 후속 연구이다. 상호문화교육을 위해 디지털 영상매체 중의 하나인 영화를 활용하는 것은 단순히 교수-학습 방법의 다양화에 기여하는데 그치지 않는다. 대학생을 대상으로 하여 문화상대성을 이해시키고 다문화 (또는 상호문화) 감수성을 증진시키는 교육에 상업영화를 적용시키는 것은 독창적이고 통합적인 상호문화교육의 장을 열어줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한 이는 문자텍스트에 주로 의존했던 전통교육의 한계를 극복하는데 도움을 줄 것이다. 현재 한국사회는 이주노동자, 결혼이민자, 북한이탈주민, 유학생 등과 같은 이질적인 문화구성원들의 유입으로 인해 여러 사회적인 도전에 직면하고 있다. 본 논문은 독일과 프랑스의 상업영화를 이용한 대학생용 상호문화교육 교수-학습 프로그램의 개발과 활용이 다문화사회로 진입단계에 한국사회를 보다 조화로운 사회로 구성하는데 도움을 줄 수 있음을 보이고자 한다. 이런 교수-학습 프로그램은 학습자에게 즐거움을 줄 뿐만 아니라, 배우려는 인간의 본능을 동시에 충족시킬 수 있다.
In general the pronunciation of French is not easy to learn, especially for beginners. The students of secondary education have much difficulty pronouncing French words which often creates fear, deters students and even makes them give up to practice French language. Our purpose is to present a phonetic system for the French novice not only to encourage communication in language but also which helps to learn easily and with interest. So we examined what is the norm for the pronunciation of French and analyzed the text books used in schools and the teaching materials for “FLE” in France. As a result, we found that seven oral and three nasal vowels are considered sufficient for communication. For the consonants there are almost no variations according to the standard or standardized French pronunciation.
In schools, foreign language is not only a means of communication but also a tool used in order to create a whole man in terms of as a student and as an individual as well. French education in high schools has always aimed to develop useful communication skills in students. However, by the end of schooling, students have not obtained the capacity of communication nor the satisfaction of learning the language. The fictional dialogs and the repetitive exercises were not the ideal solutions. According to the new 2009 Official Instructions for French as Second Language, French education in high schools has practical, cultural, and educational objectives. It also strives to find balance between the three. Yet French classes will not improve: the practical objective is always overcharged, the cultural goal is always subjected to communication, and the educational one, vaguely defined as the development of knowledge and personality, leads the teachers to be free to do as they want. This study examined the new direction of French education in schools and redefined three objectives of French education in a way that it ensures the link with the entire education system.
The main goal of this study is to provide the educational contents of French grammar by means of English grammar. As one of their strong points, English has simplified the verbal and nominal inflections, but French has done the regular shape of its pronunciation. As a matter of course, they differ in the pronunciation, words, and expressions. Nevertheless, French and English have shared so many things through their history: their vocabulary and grammar on the Greco-Roman legacy have had mutual influences through Norman Conquest(1066) and the industrial revolution. So these two languages have grammatical common concepts, which are not at all: for example, the parts of speech, word order, modes, tense, passive voice, relative clauses, etc. There is not only grammatical similarity but also difference between these two languages. Basically, they have the word order SVO but French has the case SOV that contains clitic pronouns. They also show subtle disparities in the mood, the tense, the frame of verbal sub-categorization, the hiatus, etc. Though they broadly have common concepts of the article, its ordinary uses are not same. In the passive voice and the relative clauses, there is a little subtle distinction. But English grammar helps students to understand French grammar. In consequence, students who have knowledge of the former can easily acquaint the latter. Professors may lead students to reach to a higher level of French grammar by explaining common concepts and emphasizing different ones between these two languages
This paper examines the current states of French education in Korea and proposes the future prospect by analysing the causes of a change. The number of students who choose French as a foreign language (FFL) subject decreased in the secondary school education for years. One reason is that the French language is not included as one of the second foreign language subjects in the baccalaureate exam. In the case of secondary school education, there is not much we can do about it unless the government changes the policy about foreign language subjects. At university level education, I propose that students should go further with their education, not only to the French territories, but also to French speaking countries, particularly Africa. Then, we may plan to change a curriculum to include the African culture, for instance. According to students' specific objectives, the department can offer various curricula; the programs and teaching methods of FFL should be defined according to learners' goals. The collaboration with the Embassy of France in Korea is also necessary to overcome the current crisis.
The present study aims to examine the realization of language immersion education for FLE (Français Langue Étrangère) and CLE (Coréen Langue Étrangère). Foreign Language teachers’ role has been recently concerned as to find out the interaction between a teacher and a learner in language immersion education. The success of language immersion education depends on the learners’ attitudes and motivation. The learners’ motivation can be enhanced through the electronic sources online made by the nonnative language teachers or through the extra-curricular language activities. The findings of the present study are summarized as follows. First, the teachers must perceive learners’ first language and culture to accomplish a successful interaction. Second, the foreign language policy should favor not only English, but also other various languages as well. Third, the feedback through the self-evaluation should be followed by its purposes and types.
This paper examines four genre paintings on the subject of child education by Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin(1699-1779). The Governess, The Diligent Mother, Saying Grace, and The Morning Toilette garnered critical attention after they were exhibited in the Salon from 1739 to 1741. After the exhibition, the paintings were made into prints and frequently sold to members of the bourgeois class in Paris. The iconographical details of Chardin’s genre paintings have, thus far, been compared to Dutch genre pictures of the seventeenth century. Further, most studies conducted on Chardin’s paintings focus on formal analysis rather than the historical and social contexts. Through attempting social-contextual readings of Chardin’s educational series, this paper argues that the significance of Chardin’s painting series of child education lies in his representation of the ideal French bourgeois family and the standard of early childhood education in the eighteenth-century French Enlightenment period. In each of the four child education paintings, Chardin depicted a mother with children in a domestic space. Even though this theme derives from traditional Dutch genre paintings in the seventeenth century, the visual motifs, the pictorial atmosphere and the painting techniques of Chardin all project the social culture of eighteenth century France. Each painting in the child education series exemplifies respectively the attire of a French gentlemen, the social view on womanhood and the education of girls, newly established table manners, and the dressing up culture in a ‘toilette’ in eighteenth century France. Distinct from other educational scenes in previous genre paintings, Chardin accentuated the naive and innocent characteristics of a child and exemplified the mother’s warmth toward that child in her tender facial expressions and gesturing. These kinds of expressions illustrate the newly structured standard of education in the French Enlightenment period. Whereas medieval people viewed children as immature and useless, people in the eighteenth century began to recognize children for their more positive features. They compared children to a blank piece of paper (tabula rasa), which signified children’s innocence, and suggested that children possess neither good nor bad virtues. This positive perspective on children slowly transformed the pedagogical methods. Teaching manuals instructed governesses and mothers to respect each child’s personality rather than be strict and harsh to them. Children were also allotted more playtimes, which explains the display of various toys in the backgrounds of Chardin’s series of four paintings. Concurrently, the interior, where this exemplary education was executed, alludes to the virtue of the bourgeois’s moderate and thrifty daily life in eighteenth century France. While other contemporary painters preferred to depict the extravagant living space of a French bourgeoisie, Chardin portrayed a rather modest and cozy home interior. In contrast to the highly decorated living space of aristocrats, he presented the realistic, humble domestic space of a bourgeois, filled with modern household objects. In addition, the mother is exceptionally clad in working clothes instead of fashionable dresses of the moment. Fit to take care of household affairs and children, the mother represents the ideal virtues of a bourgeois family. It can be concluded that the four genre paintings of child education by Chardin articulate the new standards of juvenile education in eighteenth century France as well as the highly recognized social virtues between French bourgeois families. Thus, Chardin's series of child education would have functioned as a demonstration of the ideal living standards of the bourgeois class and their emphasis on early childhood education in the French Enlightenment period.
In an effort to invigorate French education in the 21st century, this study m와‘es a diachronic investigation into French education in Korea. In this study, we will t빼e a look at French education goals and French textbooks, including the changes that have taken place over the years. This study also investigates the problems of current French education and suggests some possible solutions. The problems in French education today include a decrease in the number of French leamers, the disparity between educational goals and reality, and the poor quality of the teachers. In response to these problems, this study proposes the following solutions: 1) smaller classes consisting of fifteen to twenty students, 2) the adoption of French listening-comprehension test in the college entrance ex없n, 3) the setting of realistic educational goals, and 4) the development of functional French - i.e. French for special purposes - based on leamer’ s need.
