        Background: It is Difficult for older adults to avoid a decreased in pulmonary functions caused by aging, and these reduced functions have been shown to affect not only the quality of life, but also the rate of disease and mortality. Although massage therapy is generally applied as a treatment method for improving the musculoskeletal system, massage is also studied as a potential intervention for lung function as a complementary treatment method. Objectives: To determine the effects of massage and relaxation breathing exercise applied after a low-intensity walking exercise on pulmonary functions in older individuals. Design: Quaxi-experiment study. Methods: Twelve day care elderly were divided into a massage group (n=6) and a relaxation breathing exercise group (n=6). After performing low-intensity walking exercise twice for 7 weeks, massage intervention and relaxation breathing exercise intervention were performed, respectively. PEF, FEV1, and FVC were measured by performing lung function tests pre- and post the intervention. Results: As a result of this study, PEF and FVC were significantly increased in the pre- and post-group comparison of MG, and there was no significant difference in FEV1. There were no significant differences in all variables in the pre-post comparison of RBEG within groups. There was no significant difference in all variables in the comparison between the two groups on the intervention results. Conclusion: To conclude, pulmonary functions in older adults increased significantly after the massage intervention, although no significant difference was found in comparison to intervention with relaxation breathing exercise.

        본 연구는 생육초기 저온 저일조 조건이 토마토의 수량 및 품질에 미치는 영향을 구명하기 위해서 수행되었다. 비가림 하우스에서 정식 후 17일에 측창 개폐와 차광막을 이용하여 26일간 저온, 저온차광 처리하였다. 처리기간 동안의 토마토 GDD를 산출한 결과 저온 처리로 인해 GDD가 5.5% 감소하였다. 차광 처리에 의한 평균 일사량을 분석한 결과 대조구 대비 차광처리가 25.3% 수준이었으며, 일 최고광량의 평균을 분석한 결과 대조구, 차광처리가 각각 634, 156W·m -2였다. 처리 결과 저온차광에 의하여 엽수, 엽면적, 생체중, 건물중, SPAD를 분석한 결과 차광에 처리에 의하여 생육이 저하된 것을 볼 수 있었으며 초장은 웃자란 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 수량을 분석한 결과 첫 수확일은 정식 후 63일로 동일 하였으나 무처리구, 저온처리, 저온 강차광 순으로 각각 177, 99, 53g/plant 로 최대 3.3배까지 차이를 보였으며, 최종 수확일인 정식 후 87 일의 누적수량은 각각 1734, 1131, 854g/plant로 생육 초기 저온, 저온차광 처리에 의하여 수량이 각각 34.8, 50.7% 감소한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 처리와 수확기에 따른 토마토의 품질을 조사한 결과 당도와 산도는 처리 및 수확기에 따른 차이가 없었다. 처리에 따른 광합성 특성을 조사하기 위하여 이산화탄소반응 곡선을 작성하고 광합성 기구의 생화학적 모델을 활용하여 분석한 결과 최대 광합성 속도와 J, TPU, Rd는 온도에 따른 차이를 보이지 않았으나 차광에 의하여 감소된 것을 확인할 수 있으며, Vcmax의 경우 저온과 차광에 따라서 값이 감 소되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이로 보아 정식 후 생육초기 저 온 저일조는 토마토의 초기생육과 광합성능력을 감소시키며, 생육이 진행되면서 생육에 대한 차이가 없어지거나 줄어들고 품질 변화도 나타나지 않았지만 누적 수량이 감소하기에 이를 방지하기 위해서는 생육초기 저온 및 저온저일조 등 이상기상 발생시 보온 및 보광이 필요하다.

        Tissue engineering has been rapidly developed in oral and maxillofacial reconstruction. Biocompatible scaffold from chemically composites seeded with stem cells is essential and several growth factors for bone formation and angiogenesis are also required. To overcome limited activity of new bone formation with scaffolds, several biomechanical stimulation methods on cells have been made to grow cells in scaffold. Several bioreactors have been developed for real tissue growth in culture laboratory. In addition to biological stimulants like BMP, growth factors and exogenous drugs, biomechanical stimulation technique has also been known as an effective method in cell differentiation. We developed our own bioreactor with tensile mechanical strains. Then we tested with it for detection of suitable biomechanical effect on the cell differentiation and proliferation. And we also compared the results with the effect of low intensity pulsed ultrasound (LIPUS). Mechanical strain group showed more rapid reaction with cell differentiation and proliferation than non-mechanical strain group. Mechanical strain groups stimulated with 0.5∼0.7Hz for 6 hours and 8 hours showed more active cell differentiation than the group with 0.5∼0.7Hz for 2.5 hours tensile strain stimulation. Group of LIPUS also showed more rapid reaction in cell differentiation and proliferation. LIPUS with 3MHz showed more cell reaction than the LIPUS group with 1MHz. Our results showed the positive effect on differentiation and proliferation of cell with mechanical tensile strain, LIPUS both.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of low-intensity cardiac rehabilitation exercise on the cardiac function and the degree of fibrosis in an older white rat model. This study used male Sprague- Dawley white rats that were 50 weeks old. After the acute myocardial infarction induction, Twenty of the rats were randomly allocated into an experimental group and a control group, and each of the groups consisted of 8 rats. In the experimental group, the exercise was conducted for six weeks, 30 minutes a day, five days a week, using a Rotarod treadmill for animals. The degree of myocardial fibrosis was significantly repressed in the experimental group(13.69±1.90%) and in the control group(15.67±1.54%)(p<0.05). However, fractional shortening and ejection fraction did not show a significant difference. The results of this study suggest that cardiac rehabilitation with low intensity treadmill exercise repress the myocardial fibrosis.

        The purpose of the study was to investigate effects of Low intensity cardiac rehabilitation, using a treadmill, on the myocardial structure. We identified the effects by analyzing changes in the rats' weights and the results of biopsies. Twenty Sprague-Dawley male rats, 50 weeks old, were randomly divided into the exercise group and the control group. myocardial infarction( MI) was induced by ligaturing their left anterior descending artery. After the acute MI induction, two rats of each group began to fall dead, therefore, eight of each group completed at the end of the experiment. We used treadmills for animals for the exercise group. This exercise group performed 30 minutes of exercise five times per week for six weeks, while the control group did not perform any exercise. No statistically significant differences in weight were found in within group comparison and between group comparison. Furthermore, we observed histological changes in the myocardium using Hematoxylin & Eosin and Masson's trichrome staining in both groups. Low-intensity exercise inhibited myocardial fibrosis, may serve as a reference in the cardiopulmonary field, which plays a role in rehabilitating patients with cardiac disorders, including acute MI.

        풍동 내 난류를 생성하기 위해서는 난류격자를 사용한 수동적 방법이나 난류발생장치를 활용한 능동적 방법을 활용한다. 그 중 격자에 의한 방법은 상대적으로 손쉽게 다양한 크기의 난류강도를 구현할 수 있다. 격자에 의해 생성된 난류의 강도는 격자요소의 크기, 격자요소의 간격, 격자로부터 측정점까지의 거리에 좌우된다. 단일 격자요소에 의해 발생된 난류에 대하여 세 가지 요소의 효과를 먼저 분석하였다. 격자의 크기가 커질수록, 격자요소 간의 간격이 가까워질수록, 그리고 격자로부터 측정점의 거리가 가까울수록 난류강도가 상승하는 경향을 확인하였다. 1m의 폭을 갖는 풍동에서 측정점 기준 좌우 350mm 내의 범위에 대해 측정된 난류는 적정 수준의 균질성도 확보하고 있었다. 교량 거더의 연직 와류진동을 평가하기 위해 필요한 수준의 연직 난류강도를 2.5%로 보고 이와 같은 낮은 수준의 난류강도를 구현할 수 있는 격자를 제작하였으며, 그 과정에서 파악된 현상 등을 제시하였다.

        This study was designed to investigate the effects of treadmill exercise of low-intensity and moderate- intensity on the functional recovery and histological change in spinal cord injury (SCI) rats. SCI was induced by the spinal cord impactor dropped after laminectomy. Experimental groups were divided into the Group I (normal control), Group II (non-treatment after SCI induction), Group III (low-intensity treadmill exercise after SCI induction), Group IV (moderate-intensity treadmill exercise after SCI induction). After operation, rats were tested at modified Tarlov scale at 2 days with divided into 4 groups, and motor behavior test (BBB locomotor rating scale, Grid walk test) was examined at 3, 7, 14, and 21 days. For the observation of damage change and size of the organized surface in spinal cord, histopathological studies were performed at 21 days by H & E, and BDNF(brain-derived neutrophic factor) & Trk-b immunohistochemistry studies were performed at 1, 3, 7, 14, 21 days. According to the results, treadmill exercise can play a role in facilitating recovery of locomotion following spinal cord injury. Specially, moderate-intensity treadmill exercise after SCI induction was most improvement in functional recovery and histological change.

        본시험은 백침계 오이에 있어 착과기 이후의 저광도 조건이 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향을 검토코자 수행되었다. 광도 처리는 무처리를 비롯하여 100, 200, 400 μmol · m-2 · s-1로 되도록 하였다. 초장과 측지길이는 광도가 낮았던 처리에서 크게 감소되었으나, 저광도 처리간에는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 엽면적과 근중은 100μmol · m-2 · s-1에서 가장 적었으나, 200과 400 μmol · m-2 · s-1처리간에는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 광합성량은 저광도가 될수록 감소되었다. 엽록소 함량과, 근활력 및 일비액 역시 낮은 광도에서 감소하였는데, 200 μmol · m-2 · s-1과 400 μmol · m-2 · s-1처리간에는 차이를 보이지 않았다. 잎의 기공 관찰 결과 낮은 광도에서 기공세포의 발달이 억제되었고 기공의 개도도 완전하지 않았으며, 기공크기가 작았으나 기공수는 증가하였다. 낮은 광도 하에서 잎에 황화현상과 유과 형태의 비정상과가 발생되었다. 또한 잎의 Mg와 Ca의 흡수량이 광도가 낮아짐에 따라 저하되었다. 수확과수는 자연광에 비하여 400 μmol · m-2 · s-1에서 65%, 200고 100 μmol · m-2 · s-1에서 각각 80%와 90%의 수량감소를 보였다. 이러한 저광 조건은 처리 후 2주 정도의 초기수량에 크게 영향을 끼쳤으며, 특히 측지 수확과수가 현저히 줄어드는 결과를 보였다.

        참외재배시 저광도 조건시 상품수량의 급격한 저하를 막기 위하여 본 연구가 수행되었다. 과실 비대기에 해당되는 착과후 10일부터 400 μmol.m-2.S-1정도의 저광도 조건이 지속되면 광합성 속도도 떨어지고, 엽록소 함량도 낮았으며 특히 요소 무엽면시비구의 광합성속도는 크게 저하되었다 당도에 있어서는 자연광에 비해 저광도 처리구가 전반적으로 낮았는데, 착과수가 많고 무엽면시비구일수록 낮았다. 발효과 발생률은 요소 엽면시비 유무에 관계없이 자연광에서는 4% 미만으로 발생되었는데, 저광도 조건에서는 10% 이상 발생되었다. 특히 저광도 조건에서 적과수를 적게 한 처리구일수록 발효과 발생률이 높았는데, 적과를 하지 않은 처리구는 각각 39와 48%로 매우 높은 발생율을 보였다. 수확시기 지연은 요소 엽면시비 유무와 관계없이 자연광에 비해 저광도 조건에서 늦어지는 경향을 보였는데, 적과수가 적을수록 지연정도는 심했다 주당 상품수량에 있어서는 저광도 조건하에서 자연광에 비해 16∼34% 수준 정도로 매우 낮은 수량을 보였는데, 요소 0.5% 액을 엽면시비하고 2개를 적과한 처리구가 34%수준으로 자연광에 비해 다른 처리보다 높은 상품수량을 보였다. 따라서 참외재배시 과실 착과후 10일경부터 강우 등에 의해 장기간 저광도 조건이 지속될 것으로 전망되면 상품수량의 급격한 저하를 막기 위하여 주당 6개의 착과 과실중에서 2개를 적과하고, 요소 0.5%액을 2회 정도 엽면시비 해주는 것이 바람직 할 것으로 사료된다.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of the low-intensity ultrasound (noblelife) treatment on the pain points of upper trapezius muscle. The study recruited 20 patients who had trigger points in one side of the upper trapezius. The effectiveness of the low-intensity ultrasound treatment was assessed with subjective pain intensity using visual analog scale (VAS) and pressure pain threshold (PPT). The PPT was measured by pressure threshold algometer. Before and after the treatment, changes of pain were evaluated. Wilcoxon test for VAS data and paired t-test for PPT data were used for statistical significance. Compared to the pain intensity before the treatment, the pain intensity after treatment was significantly decreased (p<.05). Low-intensity ultrasound could be safely used in clinical application and at home for the treatment of patients with pain in upper trapezius muscle.

        The purpose of this research was to determine the effects on the healing of fibular fractures in rabbits of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound (50 and 500 ) applied for periods of 4, 14 and 24 days following fibular osteotomy. Thirty-six male Japanese white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups of twelve for three treatment protocols: (1) ultrasound treatment at intensities of 50 and 500 until the 4th day following fibular osteotomy, (2) ultrasound treatment at intensities of 50 and 500 until the 14th day following fibular osteotomy, and (3) ultrasound treatment at intensities of 50 and 500 until the 24th day following fibular osteotomy. The low-intensity pulsed ultrasound was applied to only one fibula of each rabbit (these served as the experimental group). The other fibula of each rabbit served as the control group. The selection of which fibula was to be treated was made randomly. The animals were sacrificed on the 4th, 14th and 24th day after the start of ultrasound treatments. Percent of trabecular bone area and fibular radiography were carried out to compare the degree of fibular bone healing. A microscope was also used to determine any histologic changes. For statistical differences in radiological changes due to length of treatment period (4, 14 and 24 days respectively), the Wilcoxon signed-ranks test was used to compare the experimental and control groups. For statistical differences in fracture healing due to differences in ultrasound intensity, radiological studies were compared using the Mann-Whitney Test. And, to compute percentage differences in areas of trabecular bone, Two-way analysis of variance (ultrasound intensity x each group) was used. Experiment results were as follows: 1. In animals sacrificed on the 4th day, no difference was found in the radiological studies of the fibulae in the experimental and control groups (p>.05). However, experimental groups showed more rapid bone repair than control group. 2. Both radiographic and percent of trabecular bone area studies showed significant differences in rabbits sacrificed after 14 days. Fracture healing was significantly increased in the experimental group (p<.05) 3. In the animals sacrificed on the 24th day, histologic study showed rapid bone repair but fibular radiologic studies did not show statistical differences between the two groups (p>.05). 4. On the 14th day, bone union on radiograph was significantly more rapid in the treatment group with pulsed ultrasound of 50 than the group with 500 (p<.05). Histologic studies showed that both the 14 and 24 days groups had more rapid bone repair in animals treated with 50 ultrasound intensity than those treated with 500 intensity. In conclusion, it has been shown that the low-intensity pulsed ultrasound has a positive effect on bone fracture healing in the early stage and the range of pulse ultrasound from 50 to 500 is effective for fracture healing. Further study is needed to investigate the influence of pulsed ultrasound on delayed union and non-union in bone fractures and also for the clinical use of low-intensity pulsed ultrasound for bone healing in humans.

        이 연구에서는 24마리의 Japanese White 토끼를 대상으로 양쪽 비골을 인위적으로 골절시킨 후 초음파치료가 골절의 치유에 효과가 있는지를 알아보았다. 초음파 치료 후 대조군의 비골과 실험군의 비골에서의 골소주 비율은 차이가 없었으며 초음파 주파수를 0.875 MHz로 하였을 때와 3 MHz로 하였을 때의 골소주 비율도 차이가 없었다. 따라서 초음파 치료는 토끼의 비골 골절의 치유 효과가 없었다. 그러나 다양한 주파수와 초음파 전달양식을 변화시켰

        Noninvasive low intensity ultrasound has been shown to be an effective means of accelerating bone fracture repair in both animal and clinical studies. The effects of ultrasound stimulation on bone repair after fibular osteotomy were assessed in a rabbit fibular fracture model. Bilateral closed fibular fractures were made in skeletally mature male White Japanese rabbits. In this study, 24 subjects were randomly divided into 2 groups: experimental group 1 (n=12), and experimental group 2 (n=12). Experimental group 1 received 0.875 MHz continuous ultrasound and Experimental group 2 was treated with 3 MHz continuous u1trasound. The ultrasound intensity was 50 and treatment time was 10 minutes for every session in both groups. In each rabbit, one fibula served as a control and the other was subjected to ultrasound treatment 5 times per week for 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, rabbits were sacrificed and the ratios of the area between the trabeculae and bone marrow of the fibulae were calculated. At the end of the experimental period, 14 of the 24 rabbits were excluded due to complications from surgery or inadequate fracture status for this study. There was no statistically significant difference in the trabeculae area between experimental leg and control leg in experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 (p>0.05). And there was also no statistic-statistically significant difference between experimental group 1 and experimental group 2 according to ultrasound treatment frequencies, 0.875 MHz and 3 MHz (p>0.05). These data suggest that in Japanese white rabbits, low intensity ultrasound stimulation does not facilitate fracture repair nor is there any difference in fracture repair results between ultrasound frequencies, 0.875 MHz and 3 MHz.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of shading on the growth and productivity of strawberries. Photosynthesis was normally achieved under natural light without shading treatment, and vegetative growth of under- and aboveground part of strawberry plants were excellent. Strawberry fruit productivity and quality were different depending on shading conditions. In natural light, they were improved possibly by balanced vegetative and reproductive growth. However, under light-shading conditions with insufficient sunshine, photosynthetic activity deteriorated and carbohydrate production was therfore inadequate; this adversely affected plant height and quality. The negative effects were more pronounced at 50% shading condition. Shading treatments resulting in insufficient sunshine had a detrimental impact on plant productivity and growth; this implies that proper shading conditions could heip improve yield and fruit quality.
