The health and working conditions of employees have become increasingly important issues in modern society. In recent years, there has been a continuous rise in problems related to the deterioration of workers’ alth, which seriously affects their safety and overall quality of life. Although existing research has investigated various factors affecting workers’ health and working conditions, there is still a lack of studies that scientifically analyze and identify key variables from the vast number of factors. This study employs the Lasso (Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator) technique to mathematically analyze the key variables influencing workers’ health status and satisfaction with their working environment. Lasso is a technique used in machine learning to identify a small number of variables that impact the dependent variable among a large set of variables, thereby reducing model complexity and improving predictive accuracy. The results of the study can be utilized in efficiently improving workers’ health and working environments by focusing on a smaller set of impactful variables.
This study was investigated in order to find composition and density of fisheries resource using bottom trawl in April, July, August, and November 2022 in the East China Sea. The average density of fisheries resource was estimated using the swept area method. As a result, 35 species were collected from the East China Sea. These included 21 fishes, six crustaceans, six cephalopods and two echinoderms. Seasonally, the average density of crustacean individuals per unit area were highest in November (692.1 inds./km 2 ), while cephalopod individuals per unit area were highest in August (39.4 inds./km 2 ). The average density of fish individuals per unit area were highest in August at 355.0 (inds./km 2 ).
We attempted to provide an overview of the laws and current state of the 3D printing industry in South Korea and around the world, using the annual industry surveys and the Wohler report. Additionally, we reviewed articles relating to the potential exposure to hazards associated with 3D printing using metal materials. In South Korea, there were 406 3D printing-related businesses, employing 2,365 workers, and the market size was estimated at 455.9 billion won in 2021. Globally, the average growth rate of the 3D printing industry market over the past 10 years was 27.4%, and the market size was estimated at $11.8 billion in 2019. The United States had the highest cumulative installation ratio of industrial 3D printers, followed by China, Japan, Germany, and South Korea. A total of 6,168 patents related to 3D printing were registered in the US between 2010 and 2019. Harmful factors during metal 3D printing was mainly evaluated in the powder bed fusion and direct energy deposition printing types, and there is a case of material extrusion type with metal additive filaments. The number, mass, size distribution, and chemical composition of particles were mainly evaluated. Particle concentration increases during the opening of the chamber or post-processing. However, operating the 3D printer in a ventilated chamber can reduce particle concentration to the background level. In order to have a safe and healthy environment for 3D printing, it is necessary to accumulate and apply knowledge through various studies.
국내 침입외래종 미국가재(Procambarus clarkii)의 생물모니터링을 환경유전자 분석과 함께 2021년 2월부터 10월까 지 완주군, 함평군, 나주시, 구례군 청주시, 5지점에서 수행하였다. 조사방법은 우산형통발과 둥근뜰채를 이용하였으며, eDNA 분석을 위해 8~10 L의 물을 채수하였다. 조사지 내의 동소종인 저서성 대형무척추동물과 함께 과거 분포기록 및 국내 가재류 유통 현황도 분석하였다. 조사결과 미국가재는 총 122개체가 확인되었으며, 함평군에서 59개체 (48.36%)로 가장 많은 개체수와 높은 환경유전자(eDNA)가 검출되었고 계절상 5월달에 출현 빈도가 가장 높았다. 암컷과 수컷의 비율은 21:5로 암컷이 우세하였으며, 크기는 암컷이 72.2±21.1 mm, 수컷이 80.5±15.6 mm, 어린개체가 25.3±9.8 mm이었다. 국내에 유입된 미국가재는 남서쪽 지역을 중심으로 확산되고 있는 것으로 파악되었으며, 과거에 출현 기록이 있는 서울지역에서는 확인되지 않았다. 미국가재에 외부공생하는 끈거머리지렁이류는 확인되지 않았으며, 국내의 출현한 미국가재는 일본에서부터 수입된 개체로 추정되었다. 국내에서 유통되고 있는 외래 가재류는 8종 이상이 었으며, 이중 마블가재(Procambarus virginalis)는 2021년에 환경부에서 유입주의 생물로 지정된 종으로 파악되었다. 미국가재 조사지역 일대에 서식하는 저서성 대형무척추동물은 총 3문 5강 39과 69종이 출현하였으며, 잠자리목이 24.62%, 딱정벌레목과 노린재목이 각각 16.92%로 우세하게 나타났다. 이 중 한반도고유종 1종, 적색목록 범주의 준위협(NT)으로 구분되는 1종, 갑각류는 총 6종이 출현하였다. 섭식기능군에서는 잡아먹는무리가 서식기능군에서는 기어오르는무리가 전체적으로 우세하여 출현하였다. 조사지역 내의 미국가재는 수초와 수변부 식생이 풍부한 지역을 선호하며, 수질이 탁한 곳에서도 내성이 강한 것으로 분석되었다. 잡식성인 미국가재는 동소종에서 우세하게 출현하는 육식성 저서생물과 상호 경쟁관계를 유지할 것으로 보이며, 먹이사슬에 따른 생태계 교란이 지속적으로 일어날 것으로 판단된다.
The purpose of this paper was to analyze domestic patents for food using edible insects. From January 1, 1980 to December 31, 2021, patents filed with the Korean Intellectual Property Office were searched, and a total of 242 valid patents were selected. The trend of Korean patent applications for edible insect food has increased since 2015, with 57 cases (the highest number) in 2017. As for the edible insects used in food, Bombyx mori L. were the most common with 127 cases, followed by Tenebrio molitor L. with 118 cases. By type of applicant, individuals accounted for the most, with 132 cases. As a result of grouping patents by food classification, 67 cases of edible insects were used in snacks, breads, and rice cakes. As a result of patent analysis, an effort was made to supplement insufficient nutrients by adding nutritionally excellent edible insects to existing foods, and efforts were made to improve the sensory properties of insect foods. It is expected that this study will contribute to establishing future R&D directions and patent application strategies related to edible insect food.
The petroleum refinery industry handles a variety of complex chemical substances and employs a large number of people around the world. According to previous research, diseases caused by exposure to chemicals were quite common among workers in refineries until the 1980s. More recently, it is unusual for oil refinery workers to suffer from these serious diseases. The objective of this study was to identify the occurrence level of general diseases and any differences in lifestyle habits of workers in refineries in Korea compared with the general population. In this study, we used the results of health examinations from 2014 for workers at a large oil refinery in South Korea. In addition, based on the results of KNHANES from 2014 as representative of the population, hypertension, diabetes, anemia, hyperlipidemia, liver function abnormality, and kidney function abnormality were calculated using the standardized incidence rate. Hypertension showed a low result with an SIR of less than 1, but a high result in the case of abnormal liver function. The workers’ occurrence rates of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, kidney dysfunction, and anemia were lower than those of ordinary salaried employees. however, their occurrence rate for abnormal liver function was markedly higher. In lifestyle habits, the smoking rate of workers was low while the alcohol consumption rate was quite high. This study has improved the understanding of the health status of workers in a large oil refinery in Korea, and has shown the impact of lifestyle habits related to the work environment on chronic diseases.
Identifying the water circulation status is one of the indispensable processes for watershed management in an urban area. Recently, various water circulation models have been developed to simulate the water circulation, but it takes a lot of time and cost to make a water circulation model that could adapt the characteristics of the watershed. This paper aims to develop a water circulation state estimation model that could easily calculate the status of water circulation in an urban watershed by using multiple linear regression analysis. The study watershed is a watershed in Seoul that applied the impermeable area ratio in 1962 and 2000. And, It was divided into 73 watersheds in order to consider changes in water circulation status according to the urban characteristic factors. The input data of the SHER(Similar Hydrologic Element Response) model, a water circulation model, were used as data for the urban characteristic factors of each watershed. A total of seven factors were considered as urban characteristic factors. Those factors included annual precipitation, watershed area, average land-surface slope, impervious surface ratio, coefficient of saturated permeability, hydraulic gradient of groundwater surface, and length of contact line with downstream block. With significance probabilities (or p-values) of 0.05 and below, all five models showed significant results in estimating the water circulation status such as the surface runoff rate and the evapotranspiration rate. The model that was applied all seven urban characteristics factors, can calculate the most similar results such as the existing water circulation model. The water circulation estimation model developed in this study is not only useful to simply estimate the water circulation status of ungauged watersheds but can also provide data for parameter calibration and validation.
This study was conducted to evaluate the overall dietary habits and nutritional status of 294 elementary school students located in Gwangju using the NUTRILITE nutrition quotient (NQ). The NQ score of the subjects was 59.5 out of 100, which corresponds to the level requiring “monitoring”. Compared to the 64.4 score of students in the 5th and 6th grades of six metropolitan cities, the scores of the present subjects were lower. The NQ components were 57.4 for balance factors, 52.4 for moderation factors, 55.0 for diversification factors, 57.6 for practice factors, and 80.1 for environmental factors. Regarding the characteristics according to the NQ level, the score (61.5 in 7 times/wk vs. 55.3 in 1-2 or none times/wk) tended to be higher in subjects who frequently eat with their families (p<0.001). In conclusion, nutrition education should be provided to students to increase the frequency of meals with their families, to develop a habit of exercising regularly, and reduce the consumption of ramen, cookies, and processed drinks that are frequently consumed. These results can be used as basic data to develop nutrition education programs to improve the dietary habits and nutritional status of students in Gwangju.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the influence of social factors on the use of honorific language by discourse completion test. Participants complete a short discourse by filling in their responses in conversations that may occur in families, schools, and workplaces where the social status and solidarity of the listener is predetermined. Honorific styles of sentence endings of their responses are analyzed by the generalized linear mixed model. The results show that social status and solidarity are statistically significant factors in the use of honorific styles, but their effects are dependent on the discourse situation. The ratio of using honorific styles gradually increases as the formality of situation increases (i.e., family < school < workplace). Interestingly, when the solidarity is low at the workplace, the ratio of using honorific styles is consistently high regardless of the social status of the listener. These results show that the use of Korean honorific styles is pragmatically changing according to the discourse situation.
Arctic warming is a global issue. The sea ice in the Arctic plays a crucial role in the climate system. We thought that a recent abnormality in many countries in the northern hemisphere could be related to the effects of shrinking sea ice in the Arctic. Many research groups monitor sea ice in the Arctic for climate research. Satellite remote sensing is an integral part of Arctic sea ice research due to the Arctic’s large size, making it difficult to observe with general research equipment, and its extreme environment that is difficult for humans to access. Along with monitoring recent weather changes, Korea scientists are conducting polar remote sensing using a Korean satellite series to actively cope with environmental changes in the Arctic. The Korean satellite series is known as KOMPSAT (Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite, Korean name is Arirang) series, and it carries optical and imaging radar. Since the organization of the Satellite Remote Sensing and Cryosphere Information Center in Korea in 2016, Korean research on and monitoring of Arctic sea ice has accelerated rapidly. Moreover, a community of researchers studying Arctic sea ice by satellite remote sensing increased in Korea. In this article, we review advances in Korea's remote sensing research for the polar cryosphere over the last several years. In addition to satellite remote sensing, interdisciplinary studies are needed to resolve the current limitations on research on climate change.
본 연구에서는 금강수계에 속하는 하천 중 가장 큰 하천인 논산천을 대상으로 해당 수계 수질의 이화학적 자료에 담수어류를 지표로 제시하여 2009년도 논산천의 수질현황과 수생태계 건강성을 조사·분석하였다.
논산천은 금강과 합류되는 지점 부근에 도시화가 집중되어 있고, 전 지역에 걸쳐 축산농가가 산재되어 있으며, 소하천을 따라 농경지가 분포되어 있는 등, 수질악화 및 생태계 건강성이 우려되나, 아직까지 정확한 실태 파악되지 않고있다.
논산천은 전반적으로 이화학적 수질이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 금강 본류와 합류되기 전 부근에 수문이 설치되어 있어, 이 일대의 지점에서는 도시화가 덜 된 지점들에 비해 TP, PO₄-P, Chl-a 등의 수치가 더욱 증가한다. 어류 상에서 민감종은 전체 채집된 어류 개체수에 비해 3.7%에 그치며, 내성종은 54.7%에 이르고, 외래종(떡붕어, 배스)은 1.4%의 출현을 보였다. 생태건강도지수(IBI) 결과는 40점 만점 중 18점으로 ‘보통상태’라는 결과가 도출되었다.
4대강 중 금강의 수질개선을 위해 지속적인 관리와 모니터링이 필요한 실정이다.
본 연구는 국민건강보험공단의 장애와 건강통계 자료를 분석하여 장애인 건강검진 수검률을 살펴보고 건강검진에 따른 문제점과 향후 개선방안을 제시하고 건강검진 문진조사 결과를 바탕으로 장애인의 건강관리 형태 등을 소고하고자 한다. 연구대상은 장애인복지법 제2조에 따른 신체적, 정신적 장애로 오랫동안 일상생활이나 사회생활에서 제약을 받고, 2015. 12. 31. 기준 등록한 장애인2,479,080명중 건강검진과 건강형태 조사에 참여한 장애인으로 한정하여 정책적 의견을 제시하였다. 결론으로 장애인 건강검진은 첫째, 장애인에 적합한 건강검진 서비스를 준비하기 위해서는 장애인 당사자들의 의견이 필요할 것이다. 둘째, 장애유형 및 중증도별 건강검진 항목 개발이 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 셋째, 장애 인건강검진 의료장비 및 편의시설에 대하여 고민해 보아야 할 것이다. 넷째, 서비스 제공자에 대한 인력확보와 교육이 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 다섯째, 장애인의 이동권을 확보할 수 있도록 하여야 할 것이다. 장애인의 건강형태는 첫째, 장애인 건강증진을 위한 각 영역별 전문가 협의체를 구성하여야 할 것이다. 둘째 장애인 건강증진 프로그램과 이를 운영하는 시설 현황분석이 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 셋째, 장애인건강권 및 의료접근성 보장에 관한 법률에 나와 있는 중앙장애인 보건의료센터에서 장애유형 및 중증도별 표준화된 건강증진 프로그램 개발이 필요할 것으로 생각된다. 지금까지 장애인 건강검진과 건강형태에 대한 내용을 살펴보고 이에 따른 정책적 의견을 제시하였다. 따라서 향후 연구로 본 연구에서 제시하고 있는 과제를 바탕으로 세부적인 연구들이 추진되길 바라며 장애인의 건강과 관련된 프로그램의 인과관계가 지속적으로 밝혀져야 할 것이다.
기후변화에 따른 영향으로 전 세계적으로 물부족 문제는 지속적으로 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 이러한 물부족 문제를 해결하기 위하여 다양한 대체수자원 확보기술이 개발되고 있으며, 그 중에 해수담수화 기술이 가장 활발하게 도입되고 있다. 최근 새로운 개념의 해수담수화 기술이 검토되고 있으며, 그 중 막증발법(Membrane distillation, MD) 기술이 활발하게 연구되고 있다. 국토교통부 국가연구개발사업으로 진행 중인 “Global MVP 연구단”에서는 세계 최대 규모인 400 m³/일 규모의 복합탈염 플랜트를 구축하고 있으며, 국산 중공사 막증발 모듈을 이용하여 새로운 개념의 복합탈염 설계기술과 구축기술을 확보하고자 현재 다양한 연구를 진행 중에 있다.
