        PURPOSES : The wedge-type anchorage system requires a complex analysis of not only the tensile stress of the CFRP plate, but also the compressive stress and shear stress generated by the wedge action. The purpose of this study is to find a composite material failure theory that is suitable for analyzing the behavior of wedge-type anchorage system among various failure theories. METHODS : In this study, numerical analysis of various composite material failure theories was performed to analyze the anchorage strength and failure mode of the wedge-type anchorage system according to each failure theory, and compared with actual test results to determine the composite material failure theory most suitable for analyzing the behavior of a wedge-type anchorage system. RESULTS : Since the Maximum Stress failure theory shows similar results to the actual test in terms of failure mode and anchorage strength, there is no significant problem in applying it to the wedge-type anchorage system. However, it is judged to be difficult to apply under property conditions where interactions between stresses are highlighted. The Tsai-Hill and Tsai-Wu failure theories are considered unsuitable for application to wedge-type anchorage systems because the wedge angle conditions at which the most advantageous anchorage strength occurs are significantly different from other theories and the fracture type cannot be predicted. The Hashin-Rotem failure theory is considered to be the most appropriate to apply as a failure theory for the wedge-shaped anchorage system because the anchorage strength was slightly lower than the actual test results, but there was no significant difference, and the failure mode was consistent with the test results. The Hashin failure theory is judged to be unsuitable for application as a failure theory for the wedge-type anchorage system because the anchorage strength and failure mode were interpreted differently from the actual test results. CONCLUSIONS : The Hashin-Rotem failure theory was presented as the composite material failure theory most suitable for analyzing the behavior of wedge-type anchorage system.

        최근, L형 도로측구 상 열화, 균열로 인한 유지보수 작업이 빈번해지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 쐐기 앵커를 이용한 L형 도로측구의 최적 설계에 대해 제시하고자 하였다. 해석 결과, 두 개의 쐐기앵커를 350mm로 관입시킨 경우에서 구조적 안정성을 충분히 확보하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 3%의 개질유황 콘크리트 배합이 압축강도, 동결융해 등의 내구성 기준을 만족하였다. 반복하중에 대한 수치해석과 현장 평가가 수행 중에 있으며, 추후 해당 시스템의 적용성을 평가하기 위한 추적 조사가 이루어져야 할 것이다.

        In order to measure the flow rate of liquid sodium, the flow measurement method should be determined by considering the opacity of sodium, the chemical reaction with air and water, and so on. By using the segmental wedge flowmeter which is one of the representative devices for flow measurement, the methodology for measuring the liquid sodium flow was examined and the flow characteristics were observed. The variations of the discharge coefficients according to various flow conditions were also evaluated. In addition, the structural integrity at high temperature condition was evaluated by using the liquid sodium as a working fluid and these study results were reflected in the design of the segmental wedge flowmeter.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of combined wedge on the range of motion in ankle and knee joint, ankle eversion moment and knee adduction moment, and center of pressure excursion of foot for genu varus among adult men during gait. This study was carried out with 10 adult men for genu varus in a motion analysis laboratory in J university. The subjects of the experiment were measured above 5cm width between the knees on contact of both medial malleolus of ankle while standing. The width of their knees in neutral position was measured without the inversion or eversion of the subtalar joint by the investigator. The subjects of the experiment were ten who were conducted randomly for standard insole, insole with 10° lateral on rear foot wedge, insole at 10°lateral on rear foot and 5° medial on fore foot wedge. Before and after intervention, changes on the range of motion in ankle and knee joint, ankle eversion moment and knee adduction moment, and center of pressure excursion were measured. In order to compare analyses among groups; repeated one-way ANOVA and Scheffé post hoc test were used. As a result, combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to control wedge group in terms of knee varus angle in mid-stance(p<.05). Combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to lateral wedge group in terms of ankle eversion moment in whole stance(p<.05). Combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to lateral wedge group in terms of knee adduction moment in whole stance(p<.05). Combined wedge group was significantly decreased compared to lateral wedge in terms of center of pressure excursion in whole stance(p<.05). The results of this study suggest that combined wedge for genu varus decreased ankle eversion moment and knee adduction moment upon center of pressure excursion. We hypothesize that combined wedge may also be effective in the protection excessive ankle pronation.

        본 연구에서는 자유낙하 하는 쐐기형 구조물의 슬래밍 충격압력 및 유동특성을 알아보고자 실험을 수행하였다. 유동장의 계측은 2-프레임 그레이레벨 상호상관 PIV 기법을 이용하였으며, 자유낙하 하는 구조물의 충격압력은 압력 계측장비인 Dewetron System을 이용하였다. 모델과 자유수면간 이루는 각도는 15˚, 25˚, 35˚ 및 45˚를 적용하였으며 중량과 자유낙하의 높이에 대해서 다양성을 주어 실험하였다. 속도장은 접수보다 이수에서 빠른 유동특성을 나타냈으며, 접수에서 보다 이수에서 시간이 더 소요됨을 보였으며, 모델 하부에서의 충격압력은 모델의 45도에서 보다, 입수각이 작은 15도와 P1 지점에서 높게 나타났다.

        Foot posture is important in the development of the musculoskeletal structure in the lower limbs because it can change the mechanical alignment. Although foot orthotics are widely used for the correction of malalignments in the lower extremities, the biomechanical effects of wedges have not yet been cleared. The aim of this study was to investigate whether medial wedges affect the electromyographic (EMG) activity of the knee and hip joints in healthy adults that are performing one leg standing. Seventeen healthy volunteers performed the one leg standing under two foot conditions: A level surface, and a medial wedge. The subjects' EMG data for the gluteus maximus (Gmax), gluteus medius (Gmed), tensor fasciae latae (TFL), biceps femoris (BF), vastus lateralis (VL), and vastus medialis oblique (VMO) were recorded, along with the surface EMG, and all were analyzed. The EMG activity of the Gmed and TFL had significantly decreased under the medial wedge condition during one leg standing. Further study is needed in order to investigate whether medial wedges influence the EMG activity and kinematic data of the knee and hip joints as well as the ankle joints in adults with flexible flatfoot, while they are performing one leg standing.

        In order to describe the performance of a wedge type jellyfish excluder device, a series of fishing experiments was carried out in the coastal areas of Yokji Island, southern Korea in 2009, using a trawl net with a cover net. The body size and weight of each individual (fish or jellyfish) caught in the experimental fishing were measured. In the case of giant jellyfish the bell diameter and weight were measured. The catch species was composed of giant jellyfish (Nemopilema nomurai), silver croaker (Pennahia argentata), yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactics), finespotted flounder (Pleuronichthys cornutus), largehead hairtail (Trichiuruslepturus), melon seed (Psenopsisanomala) and so on. The weight ratio and individual ratio of total fish escaped through the outlet of the excluder device were 0.322 and 0.320, respectively. The weight ratios of giant jellyfish excluded from the trawl net ranged from 0.740 to 0.921 (average 0.852/haul). It means that the wedge type jellyfish excluder device performed well and allowed the most of the giant jellyfish to exclude through the trawl net. The approximately 70% of fish entered in trawl net was caught. The wedge type excluder device needs some improvements to minimize the fish escape from the trawl nets in the future.

        Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is often attributed to malalignment and maltracking of patella within the patellofemoral joint. Most exercise for PFPS has focused on selectively strengthening the vastus medialis oblique muscle (VMO). This study was designed to identify the effect of medial, lateral wedge and difference of Quadriceps angle (Q-angle) on vastus medialis oblique/vastus lateralis muscle (VL) activity ratios. The subjects were twenty young adult males who had not experienced any knee injury. They were asked to perform isometric contraction exercises in three postures using medial and lateral wedge. The EMG activity of the VL and VMO were recorded in three postures by surface electrodes and normalized by %MVC values derived from seated, isometric knee extensions. The normalized EMG activity levels (%MVC) of the VL and VMO for the three postures of the lower extremities were compared using 2-way repeated measures ANOVA with 1 between-subject factor (group), and 1 within-subject factor (wedge). Results of repeated measures of ANOVA's revealed that the medial wedge isometric contraction exercise produced significantly greater EMG activity of VMO/VL ratios in Group I (Q-angle or less) (p<.05). But, the medial wedge isometric contraction exercise was no significant difference of VMO/VL ratios in Group II (Q-angle or more) (p>.05). These results have important implications for selective VMO muscle strengthening exercises in PFPS patients.

        The purpose of this study was to find the effect of rear foot wedge angle on peak plantar pressures on the forefoot during walking. Twenty normal healthy subjects (10 female, 10 male) were recruited. Peak plantar pressure was measured using pressure distribution platforms (MatScan system) in medial forefoot (under the first, second metatarsal head) and lateral forefoot (under the third, fourth, fifth metatarsal head). The subjects walked at the comfortable velocity under seven conditions; bare footed, , and wedges under the medial and lateral sides of the hindfoot. The three averaged peak plantar pressures were collected at each condition at stance and toe off phases. The results showed that a significant increase in lateral forefoot plantar peak pressure investigated in the medial wedge and a significant decrease in lateral forefoot plantar peak pressure investigated in lateral wedge at stance phase (p<.05). These results suggest that rear foot wedge may be useful to modify the peak plantar pressure on the forefoot.

        The purpose of this study was to compare the body alignment during standing on level and wedge board. Twenty healthy college students (8 females, 12 males) were evaluated in this study. Diagnostic contourline potographic imaging system (Model JTC-1, Jodang Trading Co.) was used to measure body alignment. Sagittal and frontal plane images were used to analyze the body alignment. The result showed that the cervical and lumbar lordotic curve significantly decreased during standing on wedge board when compared with standing on level. On the other hand, thoracic kyphosis significantly increased during standing on wedge board. There was no significant difference in body alignment according to gender, weight, and height. Clinically, patients with low back pain and severe lordosis may be affected by heel wedge. Further study is needed to identify whether the standing on wedge board can change the body alignment in patients with low back pain and spinal deformity.

        시스템비계의 좌굴 강도는 가새재 미설치 등 현장에서 발생할 수 있는 시공적 결함에 많은 영향을 받으며, 시스템비계의 강도를 예측함에 있어 단일 수직재에 대한 축력 실험을 근거로 측정된 좌굴 강도로부터 조립된 시스템비계의 정확한 극한강도를 예측하는 것은 어렵다. 또한 국외에서 연구된 조립 시스템비계는 국내에서 사용되는 시스템비계와 연결부 형태의 차이가 발생된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 국내에서 주로 사용되는 시스템비계를 대상으로 실물실험을 통해 가새재 설치 유무와 수평방향 단수(bay)의 변화에 따른 조립된 시스템비계의 극한하중 변화를 분석하였다.

        This experimental study analyzed the reduction of the load capacity of the system support according to the uninstall bracing members by loading the ultimate load to the 3 - story system support assembly with the presence of bracing members as the key parameter. The load capacity of the 3-story specimen without bracing members is 38.4% of that of the 3-story specimen with bracing members. It is necessary to accurately reflect the installation plan of the bracing members and examine the structural safety of the system support assembly, not a single member, because there is a significant decrease in the load capacity of the system support assembly according to the uninstall of the bracing members.

        Purpose – This study examines the effect of control-ownership wedge on stock crash risk. In Korea, controlling shareholders have exclusive control rights compared to their cash flow rights. With increasing disparity, controlling shareholders abuse their power and extract private benefits at the expense of the minority shareholders. Managers who are controlling shareholders of the companies tend not to disclose critical information that would prevent them from pursuing private interests. They accumulate negative information in the firm. When the accumulated bad news crosses a tipping point, it will be suddenly released to the market at once, resulting in an abrupt decline in stock prices. We predict that stock price crash likelihood due to information opaqueness increases as the wedge increases. Research design, data, and methodology – 831 KOSPI-listed firm-year observations are from KisValue database from 2005 to 2011. Control–ownership wedge is measured as the ratio (UCO −UCF)/UCO where UCF(UCO) is the ultimate cash-fl ow(control) rights of the largest controlling shareholder. Dependent variable CRASH is a dummy variable that equals one if the firm has at least 1 crash week during a year, and zero otherwise. Logistic regression is used to examine the relationship between control–ownership wedge and stock price crash risk. Results – Using a sample of KOSPI-listed firms in KisValue database for the period 2005–2011, we find that stock price crash risk increases as the disparity increases. Specifically, we find that the coefficient of WEDGE is significantly positive, supporting our prediction. The result implies that as controlling shareholders’ ownership increases, controlling shareholders tend to withhold bad news. Conclusions – Our results show that agency problems arising from the divergence between control rights and cash flow rights increase the opaqueness of accounting information. Eventually, the accumulated bad news is released all at once, leading to stock price crashes. It could be seen that companies with high control-ownership wedge are likely to experience future stock price crashes. Our study is related to a broader literature that examined the effect of the control-ownership wedge on stock markets. Our findings suggest that the disparity is a meaningful predictor for future stock price crash risk. The results are expected to provide useful implications for firms, regulators, and investors.

        This paper analyzed the effects of rotational stiffness of wedge connection between vertical and horizontal members of system supports. By simulating the connection condition both a hinge connection, which is considered in the design stage, and a spring with the rotational stiffness reflecting the actual behavior, the critical buckling load and the maximum combination stress ratio are compared. The results show that hinge condition somewhat underestimate the actual behavior of vertical members of system supports. However, it is also noted that the horizontal member represents the increased stress due to the rotational stiffness of the connection.

        이 연구는 금속쐐기필터를 대신하여 동적쐐기필터를 사용할 수 있을지에 대한 적정성 평가에 관한 것이다. 선형가속기에서 발생되는 엑스선 에너지는 6 MV, 10 MV로 상용화되어있다. 금속쐐기필터의 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°에 각각 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 선량율(MU/min)로 48번 조사하였고, 동적쐐기필터와의 비교를 위해 같은 조건으로 총 96번 조사하였다. 측정조건은 선원필름간 거리 100cm, 조사면 10×10cm 로 측정하였다. 현상된 필름을 스캔하여 선량분석프로그램으로 교정 후 분석하였고, 표준편차를 구해 선량율을 비교하였다. 동적쐐기필터는 선량, 산란선 및 치료시간을 감소시키며, 환자에 조사되는 선량이 적어 매우 유용하다. 동일한 조건에서 선량율에 따른 오차는 연관성이 없으므로 환자의 상황에 따라 고선량율의 치료를 사용하는 것도 가능할 것으로 생각된다.
