The contrasting values of the oscillator strengths for the (0,0) band of SiH+ molecules for the A 1II-X 1∑+ transition reported in literature, motivated us to reinvestigate the same with the help of a new set of well accepted solar photospheric models, elemental abundances and dissociation energy.
The European Economic Community four plate test(EEC 4-plate test, FPT, EU) has been used for monitoring antimicrobial drug residues in meat by Local Veterinary Service Center in Korea. This study was performed to evaluate sensitivity and group specificity of some antimicrobial drugs in FPT and to compare FPT with Charm II test. The minimal detectable levels of targeted antimicrobial drugs tested with standard solutions were 0.025-1.0 ppm for 7 beta-lactams, 0.5-1.0 ppm for 4 aminoglycosides, 0.05-0.5 ppm for 5 macrolides, 0.05-0.25 ppm for 3 tetracyclines and 0.25-1.0 ppm for 6 sulfonamides. In identification of the families, five families of antimicrobial drugs were identified. In this case, beta-lactams, aminoglycosides, macrolides, tetracyclines and sulfonamides could be detectable. In comparison of FPT and Charm II test, the results of FPT were not accord with those of Charm II test having the group specificity of seven families of antimicrobial drugs in meat samples except some families like tetracyclines.
Platelets serve many biological functions, including a major role in the haemostatic process. But platelets also play a crucial role in the formation of arterial thrombosis, arteriosclerosis and other pathologic processes. Thus, there have been many studies to develop new antiplatelet agents from foods and plants for decades. In this study, inhibitory effects of the oriental onion (Allium fistulosum) on platelet aggregation were investigated using platelet rich plasma (PRP). Water extracts of oriental onion was separated into two fractions (Fraction I and Fraction II by Sephadex G-150 column. Platelet aggregations were inhibited by total water extracts as well as Fraction I and II. IC_(50) value of Fraction I was much lower than that of Fraction II. Inhibitory effects of total water extracts of oriental onion on ATP release by PRP were also observed.
The wind-formed features observed in the early SNe spectra type II and Ia give an evidence of the existence of an ellipsoidal shell formed by the stellar wind prior to the explosion. Such non-spherical shell can occur not only at scales of parsec (the case of SN 1987 A progenitor), but at the scales of 1000 times less. Such shells can be the result of the radial pulsation. The prolate multi-shell structures are interpreted as a result of a pulsation processes with recurrent wind ejections with velocity increasing.
We have mapped 1 deg2 region toward a high latitude HII region S73 (l, b) = (37°.69, 44°.55) and associated molecular cloud in 12CO J = 1 - 0, and 13CO J = 1 - 0, using the 3 mm SIS receiver on the 14 m telescope at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory. A high resolution autocorrelator is used to resolve extremely narrow CO linewidths (FWHP < 1 km/s) of the molecular cloud. Though the linewidths are very narrow, it is found that there is systematic velocity gradient in the molecular gas associated with the H II region. Both of 12CO and 13CO averaged spectra are non-gaussian, and there are obvious blue wings in the spectra. It is remarkable that the linewidths at the blueshifted region are broader than those of the rest of the cloud. The CO emission does match well with the dust emission.
The aim of the paper is to analyse the extinction law in the giant H II region NGC 3603. The ratio R is found to be greater than 5.0. In front of the cluster the reddening law is found to be normal. We have obtained a distance of ~5.3 Kpc which is significantly smaller than those adopted so far.
We have mapped 17 deg2 region toward Galactic anticenter in 12CO J = 1 - 0 using the 3 mm SIS receiver on the 14 m telescope at Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory (TRAO). The region mapped in this paper is the first target of the Galactic AntiCenter CO Survey Project (GACCOS) and was selected comparing with IRAS Sky Survey Atlas (ISSA) images at 100 μm. Molecular emission of the target area is found to be very extended and is well matching with the FIR emission boundary. There are several pieces of clouds, and as some of spectra show several peaks, there seem to be several clouds overlapped in some directions. The Velocity of Local Standard of Rest (VLSR) of the CO emission of the mapped region ranges from -20 to +10 km/s. It is also found that the two cloudlets located around I = 180° have VLSR = -20 km/s, which is very abnormal. The peak antenna temperature of 13 K arises near the H II Region S241.
With an interim calibration based upon half the Key Project's galaxies, the Tully-Fisher relation, the (Dn, σ) relation and type II supernovae yield H0= 73 ± 10 km/sec/Mpc.
We have built a near-infrared imaging camera with a PtSi array detector manufactured by the Mitsubishi Company. The PtSi detector is sensitive in the wavelength range 1 to 5μm 5μm . Quantum efficiency of PtSi is much lower than that of InSb and HgCdTe types. However, the PtSi array has advantages over the latter ones: (i)The read-out noise is very low; (ii)the characteristics of the array elements arc uniform and stable; (iii)it is not difficult to make a large PtSi array; and (iv) consequently the price is affordably low. The array used consists of 512×512 512×512 pixels and its size is 10.2mm×13.3mm 10.2mm×13.3mm . The filter wheel of the camera is equipped with J, H, K filters, and an aluminum plate for measuring the dark noise. The dewar is cooled with liquid nitrogen. We have adopted a method of installing the clock pattern and the observing softwares in the RAM, which Gill he easily used for other systems. We have developed a software with a pull-down menu for operating the camera and data acquisition. The camera has been tested by observing δ δ Orionis.
The sacrificial foods using at 88 villages in Andong area where the village sacrificial rituals are performed, were investigated in 1994. The finding are as follows; 1. Since the village sacrificial rituals keep ancientry, white Baeksulki without any ingredients is used as Ddock (a steamed rice cake) in 74 villages, and in 5 villages the Baeksulki was served just in Siru (a tool used to prepare Ddock). The type of meat serving in rituals has been changing from large animal to small animal and the type of light from bowl-light to candle. 2. Though the ritual observes Confucianism style, memorial address was offered in 34 villages and only in 8 villages, liquor was served 3 times and the address was offered. In 60 villages, liquor was served only once, and calling village god, bowing twice, and burning memorial address paper were performed in order. Burning paper has been meaningful in rituals. 3. Tang (a stew) was served in 21 villages, and in 18 villages even Gook (a soup) was not used. The numbers of village which do not use cooked rice and Ddock are 14, respectively. 4. Fruits are essential in rituals foods. In 63 villages, 3 kinds of fruits are served and this is contrasted with even number of fruits in Bul-Chun-Wi Rituals. 5. In 25 villages, fish and meat are not served. As meat, chicken in 19 village are served. Meat Sikhae (a fermented rice beverage) prepared with meats or fish are served in 5 villages. Slice of dried meat is served in 73 villages commonly. 6. In gender of god for village shrine, woman in 43 villages, couple in 17 villages, man in 9 villages, mountain god in 2 villages, villages tree, etc were enshrined. In 52 villages liquor is served in rituals (liquor is used in 58 villages including serving god), in 28 villages sweet liquor (Gamju) is served for god (sweet liquor is used in 46 villages), and liquor, water, or sweet liquor is just displayed on table but not served in 8 villages. Incensing is found to be not common in village ritual, only in two villages it is performed. The most appropriate rituals food is thought to be pig for mountain god. Home dishes can not be used in village ritual and spoon is not used and chopstick is prepared from wild plant. Meat and fish are used in the raw.
This study was undertaken to investigate the knowledge and the use of Korean traditional basic side dishes, dried side dishes and Jabans, by housewives. Among the 59 kinds dried side dishes and Jabans, the most well-known food (above 90% of subjects) turned out to be squid Po (dried strip), kong Jaban (seasoned bean), pollack Po, dried yellow croacker, build -dried anchovy Jaban and laver Boogag in the order. In cooking experience of dried side dish and Jaban, over 40% of subjects for build-dried anchovy Jaban, squid Po, dried yellow croacker and kong Jaban have cooked frequently. The proportion of subjects who has bought the marketed dried side dishes and Jaban products was 61.5%. Major problem of that products was pointed out for a sanitary condition and high price. If marketed dried basic side dishes and Jabans were improved over the aspects, the proportion of subjects who would buy the products was 70.0%. Preparation ability of these basic side dishes was influenced by age and educational level. The working housewives had higher frequency in use than the non-job housewives. The interesting degree for basic side dishes was not significantly different from age, resident area and educational level.
The purpose of the present study is to collect information in terms of the frequency and amounts in frequently consumed dishes. We conducted the secondary analysis from '93 Korean National Survey. Mainly informations about 2-day food records were used to investigate dish intakes and to compare different food patterns by area. Amounts of total daily intakes of dishes per capita are 1,741.46g in nationwide, 1,722.03g in large city, 1,712.46g in small city, 1,808.73g in rural. The dish consumed in largest quantities per capita per day is the rice which amounts is 481.67g, 27.66% of total intake. Fruits and cabbage were consumed in large quantities too. Kimchi made of cabbage have the highest number of frequencies. Number of frequencies in rice, fruits, and milk showed high, too. Dish groups are classified by the cooking method. Some dishes in several dish groups have small number of frequencies and small amount of quantities. Some dishes in the top list are not included in the 30 dishes list. There should be some studies about validity and reliability of the dish list, using individual dietary assessment methods.
물/에탄올 수용액에 대한 투과증발특성을 개선하기 위하여 키토산을 이용하여 키토산/폴리비닐알콜 블렌드, 인산화 키토산 복합막을 제조하였다. 키토산과 폴리비닐알콜은 조성을 변화시키면서 블렌드를 얻을 수 있었으며, 글루탈알데히드를 이용하여 가교 방법과 조건을 변화시켜서 가교된 키토산/폴리비닐알콜 복합막을 제조하였다. 가교 농도와 가교 시간이 증가할수록 선택도는 증가하였으며 투과유량은 감소하였다. 글루탈알데히드를 가교제로서 키토산용액에 직접 첨가한 경우가 표면만을 가교한 경우보다 우수한 투과증발 성능을 나타내었다. 또한 인산화반응을 통하여 반응시간에 따라서 인산화도가 조절된 인산화 키토산을 얻었으며 이를 이용하여 인산화키토산 복합막을 제조하였다. 반응시간이 증가할수록 인함량이 증가하였으며 더불어 인산기의 도입에 따른 친수성의 증가로 선택도의 증가가 나타났다.
This study was carried out to determine the effect of cumulus cell attachment and various factors on in vitro maturation of pig foflicular oocytes. Oocytes with various configuration of cumulus cell mass were collected ftom ovaries of mature gilts by asperating with syringe equipped with needles of different gauges, follicle size and with or without cumulus cells. They were cultured in TCM-199 mediun containing FGS(fetal calf serum) for 30~48 hours in incubator with air containing 5% at 38.5. Mter orcein staining at in vitro maturation condition, GV, GVBD, anaphase, telophase and M II were observed. Results are surumarized as follows: 1. Recovery rates were 55.8, 55.5 and 34.4% when the cumulus-compacted oocytes were collected with 18, 21, 26 gauge needles of syringes, respectively. 2. 79% of oocytes with compacted cumulus cells were at GV stage and most of the oocytes with partially denuded and denuded cumulus cells were from GVBD to M- II stages. 3. Percentage of mature oocytes among those which are follicular diameter of 1~2, 3~6 and over 6 mm was 42.6, 53.2 and 60.8%, respectively. 4. Percentage of mature oocytes among those which are compacted, partially denuded and denuded was 60.5, 46.2 and 35.4% respectively. 5. Percentage of mature oocytes in co-cultured with monolayers of cumulus cells was higher (57.1%) than that found with oocytes cultured alone (53.4%).
한국산(韓國産) 길쭉먼지벌레족(族)을 대상으로 "NC"값을 인정하지 않은 상태에서 정성적(定性的) 형태형질(形態形質)을 근거(根據)로 표현론적(表現論的) 수리분류방식(數理分類方式)을 이용(利用)한 군분석(群分析)을 실시하였다. 그 결과(結果), 비록 일부 종(種)에서는 전통분류(傳統分類) 결과(結果)와 다소 일치(一致)하지 않은 경우도 있었으나 대부분 경험적(經驗的) 분류(分類)와 유사(類似)한 경향(傾向)을 나타내었다. 그리고 대부분 종(種)들이 기대(期待)한 속(屬) 또는 아속(亞屬)내에 분포(分布)하였다.
To improve the efficiency of in vitro production of embryos with follicular oocytes in Korean Native cows, the recovery rates, in vitro maturation, fertilization and development, and the time required for collecting and processing oocytes by aspiration with or without slicing were evaluated comparatively. The ovaries were obtained from a local abattoir and placed in physiological saline at 25~28 and brought to the laboratory within 3 hrs. The oocytes were collected by aspiration of follicles(2~6mm) with or without slicing ovaries after aspiration, and classified into Grade I, Grade II, Denuded, Expanded oocytes by the morphology of cumulus cells attached and the homogeneity of cytoplasmic granules. Also the time required for each step of collecting and processing oocytes were measured. The cumulus cells were removed in some Grade I oocytes to measure their size and nuclear configuration before and after in vitro maturation. The Grade I oocytes were matured in vitro(IVM) for 24 hrs. in TGM-199 supplemented with 35g /ml FSH, 10g /ml LH, 1 g /ml at 39 under 5% C02 in air. They were fertilized in vitro(IVF) by epididymal spermatozoa treated with heparin for 24hrs. and then the zygotes were cocultured in vitro (IVC) with bovine oviductal epithelial cells for 10 days. The results obtained were as follows: The number of oocytes recovered per ovary was averaged 6.6 by aspiration and 11.2 by slicing post aspiration, which summed to 17.8. The number of Grade I oocytes recovered per ovary was averaged 3.1 by aspiration and 3.6 by slicing, which summed to 6.7. The percentage of Grade I to total oocytes recovered was significantly(P<0.05) higher as 48.0 % in aspiration than 31.6% in slicing post aspiration. The time requlred for recovering a Grade I oocyte by aspiration and slicing was 1.1 and 2.5 min, respectively. This study was conducted to improve the production efficiency of in vitro produced (IVP) embryos in Korean Native cows. The optimal conditions and procedures for in vitro maturation(IVM), in vitro fertilization(IVF) and in vitro culture(IVC) of bovine follicular oocytes and IVP embryos were evaluated. Immature follicular oocytes were collected fiom the follicles of bovine ovaries obtained from abattoirs. The oocytes of Grade I and II for IVM were cocultured with monolayered bovine oviductal epithelial cells(BOEG) or granulosa cells in TCM-199 solution supplemented with follicle stimulating hormone, lutenizing hormone, estradiol-17 and heat inactivated fetal calf serum at 39 under 5% in air for 14 to 24 hours. Most of the oocytes(93%) matured to metaphase II in 24 hours. The cocultured IVM oocytes were fertilized in vitro at significantly(P<0.05) higher rate with BOEC(83.8%) and with granulosa cells(84.6%) than the non-cocultured IVM oocytes(73.6%). The IVM-IVF embryos developed to morula and blastocyst at significantly(P<0.05) higher rate in coculture with BOEC(41.2%) than with granulosa cells(23.1%) or conditioned medium(23.4%).
This study was performed to assess the efficacy of high voltage pulsed galvanic current for the healing of wounds in rabbits. Skin wounds were created laterally on the flank of 12 domestic rabbits(). The wounds of each group were treated with an intensity of 170 V at a frequency of 70 pulses per second, which was applied for 30 minutes a day for 10 days. The experimental groups were randomly assigned to either EXP I (n=3), EXP II(n=3), EXP III(n=3) or control(n=3). Each group was stimulated under the following conditions : 1) EXP I (Negative polarity), 2) EXP II (Change in polarity, negative electrode stimulation during the first 3 days and then positive electrode stimulation from 4 to 10 days), 3) EXP III(Positive polarity), 4) control(No stimulation). An active electrode was placed over the wound and a dispersive electrode on the buttock. The rate of wound closure was compared with the original wound size, evaluated by a tracing film in each measurement period. Finally, on the wound in each group, skin tissue was excised for histological evaluation after treatment for 10 days. The results obtained are as follows : 1) It was found that the control group did not show a complete remodeling of epitherial layer and had a chronic inflammatory response. Judging from the irregularity of intercellular space and the loose alignment of connective tissue, these findings show that wound healing was delayed. 2) EXP I showed a significant bactericidal effect, but a moderate response of vasodilation. The rate of wound closure was slower when compared with EXP II, III. 3) EXP II showed a complete remodeling of epitherial layer and a positive repair of connective tissue. Its rate of wound closure was best when compared with the others. 4) EXP III had a slower rate of wound closure than EXP II, but judging from the greater proliferation of collagen fibers and the dense alignment of connective tissue, this positive electrode was very effective in the formation of neo - connective tissue.
(i) The development of a metallurgical bond during the spray forming of clad products has offered the possibility of manufacturing large rolls, including those used in hot and cold strip mills. Small rolls are already being produced in Japan. (ii) Technical developments, including the use-of-multi-atomizers have resulted in the elimination of porosity from the internal bore of a sprayed tube. Bimetallic tubing can also be manufactured and the installation of a 4.5 ton tube plant in the USA should provide low operation costs. (iii) Spray forming offers a potentially low cost manufacturing route for superalloy ring/casing components in high strength superalloys. (iv) A large pilot plant has been built for the spray forming of ultra-clean superalloys for turbine disc applications. (v) Using twin-atomizing technology, special steel billets have been spray formed up to 400mm diameter with deposition yields in excess of 90%. (vi) Al/Si alloy extrusion billets with excellent dimensional tolerances are being manufactured for large scale automotive applications. Several new aluminum alloys have also been developed, including high strength, low density and low cocfficient of expansion materials. (vii) New copper alloys have been developed and pilot plants are in operation to produce these alloys once markets have become established.
