The main purpose of this paper is to reveal the explanatory power of the Minimalist Theory in terms of Case checking in there construction. The results of secondary purpose, the nature of associate-NP, is that unaccusative and be assign the Partitive Case to the indefinite associate-NP itself not to its position. This fact implies that Visibility Condition be extended to the movement condition. Since Case checking in general is simplified in the Minimalist Theory, the theory can be considered to be superior to GB theory in terms of Case checking. And in the frame of Minimalist Theory concerning there construction, there are two ways of Case checking to the associate -NP. One approach is that the NP gets its Case checked by being adjoined to the expletive, the other is that the NP being licensed Partitive Case from AgrO at LF is adjoined Affixal-there to satisfy Full Interpretation. I showed that the latter is superior to the former because the in consistent checking of the strong NP feature of TNS must be a defect point.

This article accounts for the formation of wh-questions and yes-no questions in English within the Minimalist Program of Chomsky (1993). Wh-words and such auxiliaries as do, have, be, and modal verbs in interrogative sentences are a -moved according to the economy principle of movement theory. In an interrogative construction wh-fronting and auxiliary movement arise from the necessity of fixing parameters and word order through morphological checking processes. To be checked off morphological properties of an interrogative sentence, lexical categories expressing meaning structure move to functional categories parameterizing syntactic structure. Constraints based on the economy principle, of course, are applied in the course of the morphological checking in a checking domain. With respect to morphological properties that should be checked off in wh-questions and yes-no questions, we propose that there exist three combinations of WH-feature and Q-feature in complementizer(=C) : [+ WH, +Q] for wh-extraction from an object or an adjunct, [+WH, -Q] for wh-extraction from a subject, and [-WH, +Q] for yes-no question formation. Other important condition for the formation of an interrogative sentence is that C has a tense operator which must be checked off by the tense operator feature of the tense verb in the tense domain C.

The main purpose of this article is to account for the linguistic variations of blocking effect on the long-distance binding of reflexives under the `feature-checking theory of reflexives,` proposed here based on Chomsky`s (1992) minimalist theory. As a result from this study, it comes to light that all kinds of reflexives, including even X^0 -reflexives except the caki type, are analyzed as complex reflexive NP, consisting of a pronominalizer(pronom) and a reflexivizer(reflex) as analogous to English reflexive, him+self. By this observation, it is argued under the `feature-checking theory of reflexives` that the differences in the blocking effects on long-distance reflexive binding among languages are mainly attributed to the interaction of the typological variations of Φ-feature checking process among languages and those of internal structure among reflexives, and some other types of problems with long distance bound reflexives in the pro-drop languages like Korean and Chinese may be explained by the analysis of them as an emphatic reflexive for pro subject.
